@@GraysonAdkins2007the reason Hall effect last longer is because no materials are rubbing against each other and doesn’t wear down over time in the same way. Yes Hall effect stick will drift eventually but their lifespan is drastically improved over normal potentiometer sticks
I think tiny screens make a lot of sense for controllers, especially when there are potentially to many devices for it to cycle around to. The control pad can help you quickly pair to different devices fast like Android TVs, Xbox's, Steam Deck, pc, and maybe even fire tv sticks and so on. At the moment it's hard to pair to different previous devices fast.
I like the dongle and that it's clearly branded (has ROG's logo etched in)... because sometimes you look at your USB hub and there's a half-dozen anonymous dongles plugged-in and you can't tell what goes with what, even if there's a place to stow it built into the peripheral. The dongles are usually small, low profile, and slick-plastic so hard to label (too little surface to stick a label, too plastic small and slick to write on). I know I'm harping on a small feature, but I have a few controllers / mice / keyboards that suffer from this every time I want to move them... so the small touch of distinctly etching the dongle is a plus in my book.
What I like about the 8 Bitdo Ultimate is that the dongle can be left inside the charging cradle and the cradle can be plugged in. THe cradle is basically a fancy USB-A female extension cable. This allows for the dongle to be away from other RF interference. My USB-C docking station for my AyaNeo can get crowed, and with the USB ports on the back, the range gets cut down drastically. The dongle-in-cradle allows for line-of-sight as well as making the dongle harder to lose.
This is such a struggle. I have a really nice mechanical keyboard whose 2.4ghz dongle is identical to a 5$ crappy one and guess which one got thrown out with the Crappy one. Dx
Cool controller but 8bitdo ultimate does pretty much all of this for half the price has hall effects sticks, works with the switch and comes with charging dock
The bad thing about this controller that no body tell you is that once you connected to your pc you can not used any other controller unless you desconnect the rf dongle not good
Back buttons - Check Trigger lock - Check -Unknown polling rate -Couldn't find anything on hall sensor sticks -Screen is cool, but why OLED? Thumbsticks are the weakest part in a controller chain. Once it breaks, the whole controller is useless. Hall sensor sticks are the minimum standard
No. Wireless is generally not supported for 3rd party controllers on XBOX. If you intend to use this mostly with an XBOX I highly suggest you get the official Elite controller instead.
Cool concept, and looks great, but at that price point, not having the ability to connect to Xbox Wirelessly is a dealbreaker. How can Asus call it an Xbox controller if it only connects to Xbox via USB...
This controller might be worth a s$!@ if they’d make it completely wireless for Xbox. Why design this controller and specify it’s main use for Xbox but then only when plugged in.
They lost so many pc building channels because of bad quality control on their components that they’re started to giving away Xbox series X‘s for free 😂😂
How do the back buttons feel? I have the Elite Series 2 Controller and I use all my 10 fingers, but looking at the promo CGI, they only show the index for both shoulders and triggers, then middle and ring fingers for the back buttons. When I use the Elite, I have index and middle fingers for shoulder and trigger buttons, then ring and pinky fingers for the paddles on each side. With the position those back buttons have, it seems my pinky fingers would not reach any of the back buttons.
You lost me at wired for the Xbox series X lol no thanks and I don’t wanna plug in a dongle either I’ll stick to my wireless Xbox controllers for $40 each or elites for a bit more and still cheaper then asus one. To me it’s just a gimmick with the little screen you’re never going to use for anything of any substantial importance and the little RGB.
I don't even want an Xbox but that controller looks cool. I have a wired Power A Xbox controller. It's my favorite controller. I'll enter the giveaway but I don't know what I'd do with an Xbox lol
My wireless mouse has a spot for the dongle, my wireless keyboard(same brand) does not. I hate it, they where both top of the line, the keyboard has so much empty space inside, how did they not think about a dongle compartment
Neat idea, kinda too expensive for me, but, it would be neat if you cold send VpinMAME data to the screen so you could see the score and effects right there in the controller while playing some classic pinball.
Man, all black consoles on your media stand looks so sick, but the custom series x really steals the show.
Looks great, but $170 and no hall effect sticks make it a no for me.
Half of hall sensing sticks will still drift
The major reason that effects drift is how they are made not what is made out of
@@GraysonAdkins2007source: I made it up
@@GraysonAdkins2007the reason Hall effect last longer is because no materials are rubbing against each other and doesn’t wear down over time in the same way. Yes Hall effect stick will drift eventually but their lifespan is drastically improved over normal potentiometer sticks
This is why a lot of controllers from the 90s still doesn’t have drift after all these years because they used Hall effect
Well it wouldn't be a real controller if it didn't have a screen on my screen so I can screen while I screen.... possibly while screaming
Did you just do an Xzibit, dawg?
I'm suddenly 15 years old again.
Can you play Doom on that screen? 🤔
Hmm, I'll consider buying it when Todd releases Skyrim for that controller screen. 🤣
New controllers should all have Hall Effect sticks, its unforgivable if they are not on this time of year
agreed. what controllers have it?
Boohoo. It’s just a buzz word.
Hall effect sticks are cool but they don’t work on some games
Dreamcast ahead of the game yet again.
Yeah, was surprised the VMU didn’t get a passing mention from BOB.
TIL that Wulff has never used a Sega Dreamcast.
Was looking for this comment... it had me twitching when I heard him say he never saw a controller with a screen before...
pew

Reminds me of dreamcast

No one can make videos like bob
Ok but the suit case is sick af
Super cool controller, and that Xbox design is neat
You'd do great as their brand ambassador - every one of those ASUS vids makes me wanna buy their stuff 🤩
Oof. All credibility evaporated in an instant with this one. Shame. Unsubbed.
The bad thing about this controller that no body tell you is that once you connected to your pc you can not used any other controller unless you desconnect the rf dongle not good
This video feels like an ad. The product isn't even that interesting. It's just a controller
Great controller but I am seriously bummed to hear it does not work wirelessly on the Xbox Series. That’s a dealbreaker.
consoles should be made like they make GPUs. They would look so much better
"I've never seen a controller with a screen on it," Wii U Gamepad and Sega VMU left the call.
I always thought the ps5 controller was just going to be like the ps4 controller but with a screen instead of a touch pad.
Most pointless controller. Who tf playing wired in 2023
Asus product on a video sponsored by Asus. Aint trusting this one, sorry
I honestly wanna see somebody playing a game on that tiny sweet screen 😊
It’s sounds like something a fired Razor employee would name.

this vs flydigi apex 3, which one's better?
Expensive but so beautiful!
You made an Asus video on their controller and didn't use the Rog Ally at all? Miss opportunity.
did i just see pokimane on a xbox controller ?
Black Friday yeah had to get this 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐💀💀💀💀💀

That was the most involved I ever got on Gleam 😮
I'm through the whole video but I assume the dongle dosen't work with the Xbox SX?
Okay not going to lie i'm not mad that you sold out. As long as you know behind the scenes asus is kind of a crappy company. Get yo paper bb.
I too want that carry on
You didnt mention battery life
Can you use the 2.4 dongle on the Xbox?

Lmao at all those mega expensive controllers. Fuck that. Don't allow them to normalise this.
Talk about schilling , sheesh

4:17 oh heck NO!! A game box should be played ON THE BOX not via any external device! This should be made illegal, LOL

Not Asus' fault. Microsoft does not allow 3rd party wireless controllers for the XBOX.
$170 to become unusable after 1 year is ludicrous. It needs hall sticks like gulikit or something.
This isn’t actually a 3rd party controller it’s a partnership controller with asus from Xbox it’s actual an official Xbox controller
Nah, fuck the screen save ur money an get the 8bittdo with the anti drift sticks
Thank you, Asus, Thank you!
Wait till that oled screen die and you have to rely on it to switch profile? Been there with Rival 700 mouse with oled screen.
The WiiU controller cried many times during this video
I love your content but I'll never be able to afford any of it so it kinda feels like I'm teasing myself and not in a fun way
Honestly though, who really looks at their controller while gaming?
The Xbox Portal VMU
You almost had me until the moment I heard “Armory Crate Software” and I started vomitting
Dream cast controller have a screen
NGL, I just want that ROG suitcase. It looks sick!!
“Never seen a controller with a screen”
Bro that’s the entire fucking WiiU 😂
The oled seems really useless and wired I would not use it for pc so it's a NO for me.😝
Looks neat, I wonder how much does it cos- _yeaaaaaaaaaaaah_ pass.
losing credibility hard with this one.. shameful
Works wireless with everything but xbox itself lmao 😂
Anyone else having trouble connecting the controller via usb to their stream deck?
Now I have to wait until wolf den collapses so I can buy the limited edition “wolf den asus xbox series x” for my obscure console variants collection
Huh, I always pronounced it ay-sus. Like ay, that’s sus!
I don't even want an Xbox but that controller looks cool. I have a wired Power A Xbox controller. It's my favorite controller. I'll enter the giveaway but I don't know what I'd do with an Xbox lol
The WiiU is a controller with a screen in it
Raikiri sounds too Razer. I bought it.. about to receive it next week.
I was interested, but as soon as I learned it needs Armory Crate? Hard pass.
Thank you Asus !!!
All I hear when Wulff says Asus is Jesus
what if i want to use my xbox windows wireless receiver, can i?
I'm fine with my RetroFighters pad
There's a difference between bump stops and hair triggers
I don't like the idea of digging through tiny menus on the tiny screen to switch modes. I like the physical switch on the 8Bitdo controllers.
You've never a seen a screen in a controller before? Really? Really?
the Xbox series X is so much better looking that the PS5.
love you Bob but wow hope they paid you a lot for this video!!
Wait, so it doesn’t work with xbox unless it’s wired?
It all sounded good to me until I heard Armory Crate.
$129 for this right now on Amazon. Not bad.
I had you...
If I could just buy the Xbox and the case that'd be cool
Holy fck wii u
GIF is pronounced like Jif peanut butter.

Give it time, where there's a will, there's a way.
thanks
But can you play Doom on that screen
I want to like asus's products, but their lack of quality control in so many things scares me
I found this for 148€ and I'm curious should I sell my Razer Raion for this controller? Is the D pad mechanical? And are the face buttons as well?
dedicated dongle
Great Stuff, as always!
My googling has failed, can anyone confirm if the 2.4ghz dongle works for wireless use on the xbox itself?
People have said no
