This was such an awesome list! Greatest Showman could have been first or second, and I think Elephant Love Medley should have been within the top ten or so, but there were so many great picks! 😁👍❤
But they picked the wrong song! If you want catchy numbers, Carryin' the Banner is much better, but the best and catchiest song in the show is DEFINITELY "King Of New York"!
"High School Musical" has a star from the movie musical, "A Chorus Line". Alyson Reed who played Ms. Darbus was the female lead, Cassie. It's plain when you see her at marker 7:40.
I’m so happy something from Sing Street is in this list. It’s so underrated with such an amazing music! Great choice. And thank you for adding “Impossible” from Cinderella in it too! Such a great soundtrack and song!

Thank you so much for showing the Newsies movie on here! I'm glad the Broadway version is successful, but it broke my heart a little (okay, maybe a lot) when they changed the lyrics I'd had memorized for years, and it hurts me how little-known the movie STILL is, even with how popular the theater version is. (I mean, Ann Margret is in it! ANN! MARGRET!)
Christian Bale, David Moscow from Big, Max Casella! So many great actors just forgotten. And yes the lyrics change and all the changes to Jack made me SO MAD.
I just re-watched All That Jazz with Roy Scheider recently, and while the movie wasn't a musical per se, the ending scene with him and Ben Vereen is one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

When we played "The Greatest Show" in the car while driving our nephew and niece around they would refer to it as "boom boom song" afterwards when they wanted to hear it again. We are German and they wouldn't understand the lyrics, but they loved the energy
I personally would of put “I’ll be your dentist” from Little Shop Of Horrors but great list nonetheless. Also maybe Come Alive or The Other Side from The Greatest Showman since this is a “most catchy” songs list.
I would say it is a musical and I totally agree. As soon as the soundtrack came out I couldn't listen to that CD more if I tried. I would even listen to it on my CD walk-man whenever I would go anywhere. LOL.
That one's what I call "musical mental peanut butter": Sticks to the roof of your mind. And I would absolutely call it a movie musical, even if it lacks some of the tropes and trappings.
I cast a vote for "Falling Slowly" from ONCE (2007). The Oscar-winning Song is not as high energy as those on this list, but it gets into your head when you hear it. It can replace #14, FAME (1980), which many have pointed out does not even belong here.
Mom used Rent to expose 10 year old me to drugs, AIDS and everything. I fell in love with the music before I even knew what half of the words meant, so 10-year-old me didn't know why I was getting weird looks from people when I'd swing on the swings at the park singing La Vie Boheme lol
I love the song, (this musical is one of my favorites) but the 2004 movie version (the whole movie really) sucks. They cut verses and adds unneeded parts. Plus, Gerald Butler sucks as the Phantom (and as a singer in general)
I know that the recorded HAMILTON may not count as a movie per see, but the one song that comes to my mind at the strangest times is YOU'LL BE BACK- the King's first song. I don't know why it runs through my head as it does, but it's almost a daily occurrence!
@Austin P. Gaming Look who's talking. It's *you* that's got no good taste of movies at all. And more thing, I never said 2012's Les Mis is a masterpiece and rather, it was a decent film even if it had flaws. Also, it ain't garbage. The Greatest Showman is the *one* that is absolute garbage, full of forced, contrived and hollow sjw and virtue-signaling leftist garbage. Like, that movie was a disgrace.
Idk the songs that randomly come into my head years after seeing the movies at work is "status quo" for HSM and "both reached for the gun" for Chicago. Also I'm shocked no les mis is on here between "red and black" or "do you hear the people sing"
At least once a week, "Elephant Love Medley" pops unbidden into my thoughts and I eventually break out singing. At that moment, if I'm going through a period of low-grade depression, my feelings are instantly lifted.
You had me at MUSICALS!! But personally it Rodger and Hammerstein Cinderella Impossible (Whitney Houston and Brandy version) because it’s childhood memories.
When I saw those 2D animated animals in Mary Poppins Returns, I was hoping that it would be a sign that 2D animation would one day come back into Disney.
Sing Street is criminally underrated and underappreciated imo. It's such a fun movie with great music and almost no one has heard about it when I bring it up. I'm glad Drive It Like You Stole It made it onto this list.
‘Let it go’ just hits different. It’s absolute brilliant 😄 ‘Another Day of Sun’ a close second for me. The greatest opening scene of a musical film ever.
Glad to see Chicago is on the list! So many good songs. Personally, though, I couldn't get "A Little Priest" from Sweeney Todd out of my head for weeks.
Honestly, it doesn't hold a candle to the stage version of the song. Carter and Todd are just so... *Boring* in that number. But Pretty Women? Rickman and Depp's version has to be my favorite out of any I've ever heard. Definitely the best song on that version of the soundtrack.
@@etcetera1995 Little Priest was meant to be a passive tune. I liked the movie version of it and it always makes me smile a bit. Because so many wicked people in the world. Being sung by wicked people. The sense of humor to me got through with the acting. They weren't the best singers in the movie but they held their own. I have heard much weaker singers get praise.
How was there no mention of "In The Heights", "96,000", "My Shot", "Blackout", or even "What Did I Miss?" Those songs have been in my head for months (I'm not even over exaggerating).
Completely agree! (Except, please forgive me, my need brain won't let it go, it's "125 thousand", not "1 million, 25 thousand"). I can't believe they didn't pick that either, all you have to do is hit that first chord, and every musical fan in a five-mile radius is READY.
Honestly, how didn't Zidler's Rap from Moulin Rouge not make it instead of Elephant Love Medley? Zidler's was more catchy for having Lady Marmalade in it. Even Sparkling Diamonds should have been higher. Overall, more energetic and memorable imo.

With Hairspray, I would have said 'Run and Tell That'-purely for Seaweed's voice! His voice is AWESOME-I'd go as far as saying the best in the whole film!
I love La La Land but “You can’t stop the beat” is definitely the #1. Now I’m going to have the song in my head all night
Nicest Kids in Town is also supeeerrr catchy 👌🏻
I love all of the greatest showmans music! That was the greatest experience ive had in the movie theater in quite some time and i would love a re-release so i can do it again!
The music, songs and the movie itself are nothing but a pile of 💩💩💩💩💩💩 and full of forced sjw and virtue-signalling mess. What a travesty.
Keep your opinions to yourself. If you don’t like The Greatest Showman that’s fine but don’t be mean to people who do.
"Oh this is the greatest show" - amazing
It ain't amazing as it's forced, contrived and full of identity politics. Nothing more.
@@ajpat9620 You really need to get a life instead of commenting negatively on each comment that features the greatest showman.
IT'S A MIRACLE! SING STREET IS RECOGNIZED!!!! No joke, this is straight up one of the best Coming of Age movies I have ever seen. It's got amazing music, oozes Rock and Roll style, and will genuinely have you crying tears of joy at the ending. It is one of my Top 10 Favorite Movies ever, and it is criminally underseen and under appreciated!
I couldn't agree with you more, this movie is criminally underrated and the soundtrack is amazing!
100% agree.
Zac Efron starring in 3 out of ten picked is kind of cool too
I know! My inner childhood is awesome
Unfortunately in the first high school musical, he didn't do his own singing.

Look up Drew Seeley on IMDB. He did the singing for Troy in the first movie. Zac did his own singing in the sequels, but not the first one.

There are definitely a couple songs I would switch out, but overall, I loved it!!
I feel like my favorite has to be other side from Greatest Showman. But also seize the day from Newises.
other side from Greatest Showman and the rest of its songs are nothing but unremarkable.
@@ajpat9620 dude Other Side is literally such a great song, famously one of the most fun songs to sing. What are you even talking about?
I just wanna say it, The Last 5 Years (broadway and movie) is HEAVILY UNDERRATED!!!!!!!

Yes! I'm Still Hurting and Nobody Needs to Know are two of my favorite songs from that
Yes!! One of my favs
Still Hurting is an amazing song. Anna Kendrick smashed it!!
The Greatest Showman is a really an underrated movie
I agree, it honestly deserves much more love! 🥰
I agree
The Greatest Showman is not an underrated movie, for it's the worst and it gets the blame for paving the way for Cats to ruin musicals.
@@ajpat9620 wow you must have no life to go to everyone’s comment who like this movie and leave bad comments.
And nothing is to blame for Cats for being bad but Cats LOL (and maybe Tobe Hooper)
I wouldn't think of TGS as underrated tho, at least not were I'm from, when it came out in 2016 everyone listened to the soundtrack, and the songs are pretty recognizable
I was absolutely fascinate by the mirror trick in the last act of A Chorus Line as a kid. It was just magic to me.
Me internally before watching "If you can't stop the beat isn't number one I'm gonna riot"
Thank you for not disappointing 😂

NEWSIES FINALLY GETTING THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES
But they picked the wrong song! If you want catchy numbers, Carryin' the Banner is much better, but the best and catchiest song in the show is DEFINITELY "King Of New York"!
"High School Musical" has a star from the movie musical, "A Chorus Line". Alyson Reed who played Ms. Darbus was the female lead, Cassie. It's plain when you see her at marker 7:40.
I didn't know that, that's so cool!!
I’m so happy something from Sing Street is in this list. It’s so underrated with such an amazing music! Great choice.
And thank you for adding “Impossible” from Cinderella in it too! Such a great soundtrack and song!

Musical Songs I can never forget are
1 Do re mi la so la ti do from sound of music
2 get cha head in the game from high school musical
3 seize the day from newsies
4 how do I know from enchanted
5 Dancing Queen from mama Mia and mama Mia here we go again
6 you can’t stop the beat from hairspray
7 amigas cheetahs friends for life from the cheetah girls
Thank you so much for showing the Newsies movie on here! I'm glad the Broadway version is successful, but it broke my heart a little (okay, maybe a lot) when they changed the lyrics I'd had memorized for years, and it hurts me how little-known the movie STILL is, even with how popular the theater version is. (I mean, Ann Margret is in it! ANN! MARGRET!)
I only clicked on here to check Newsies was included as it should be. Always loved it. It was so difficult to re-learn lyrics that I knew so well lol
Isn’t Christian Bale in that too?
@@belle.m he is!
I saw it in theater and was so mad about the lyrics change.
Christian Bale, David Moscow from Big, Max Casella! So many great actors just forgotten. And yes the lyrics change and all the changes to Jack made me SO MAD.
I would have picked Stick to the Status Quo from High School Musical! That song is super catchy.
Burlesque also deserves a mention - it’s great!!! 😍
I just re-watched All That Jazz with Roy Scheider recently, and while the movie wasn't a musical per se, the ending scene with him and Ben Vereen is one of my favorite scenes in the movie.
I literally think of "bye bye love" at the most random times
“We both reached for the gun” always slept on tbh ITS SO GOOD
THE PUMPKIN SONG YES!!!!!!! That song has been in my head for 25 years straight. Bless Roger and Hammerstein, and Disney, for their incredible casting and the musicality of the film in general.
Where's Les Miz???? One Day More at least should be here.

If it counts as a musical, "That Thing You Do" from the same titled movie is catchy as hell.
I would say it is a musical and I totally agree. As soon as the soundtrack came out I couldn't listen to that CD more if I tried. I would even listen to it on my CD walk-man whenever I would go anywhere. LOL.
Love the whole soundtrack of that movie!!
I am SO surprised it wasn’t on the list!
That one's what I call "musical mental peanut butter": Sticks to the roof of your mind.
And I would absolutely call it a movie musical, even if it lacks some of the tropes and trappings.
Watching this countdown has made me want to watch all the musicals on the list.
Call me basic
Call it overrated
But the Greatest Showman is Tops. It deserves the number one spot.
I cast a vote for "Falling Slowly" from ONCE (2007). The Oscar-winning Song is not as high energy as those on this list, but it gets into your head when you hear it. It can replace #14, FAME (1980), which many have pointed out does not even belong here.
Yes! Surprised Once wasn't on here.
Rent had a more catchy song, one that all I have to hear is one special number and I can’t stop singing it. (525600 minutes) moments of love
My daughter loves that song!
Seasons of Love yup... 💗 also Out Tonight, What You Own, etc... are all catchier than La Vie Boheme imo
Mom used Rent to expose 10 year old me to drugs, AIDS and everything. I fell in love with the music before I even knew what half of the words meant, so 10-year-old me didn't know why I was getting weird looks from people when I'd swing on the swings at the park singing La Vie Boheme lol
Agree- much more than Rent

I love the song, (this musical is one of my favorites) but the 2004 movie version (the whole movie really) sucks. They cut verses and adds unneeded parts. Plus, Gerald Butler sucks as the Phantom (and as a singer in general)
@@marlinotalvaro7431 totally agree, the musical is one of my favourites, but the movie is awful
It wasn't that bad and not everyone can afford to pay theatre ticket prices every time it plays in their city. DVD you get to relive it all the time

Its 525, 600 minutes...
Impossible at 18? Ummm y’all better put some RESPECT on Miss Houston’s name! It deserved a top 10 spot.
Honestly, how didn't Zidler's Rap from Moulin Rouge not make it instead of Elephant Love Medley? Zidler's was more catchy for having Lady Marmalade in it. Even Sparkling Diamonds should have been higher. Overall, more energetic and memorable imo.
