Mastodon rocks. Brann has always been one of my favorite metal drummers. His style, phrasing and creativity put him at the top of the metal game. And he sings. He's literally the heavy metal Phil Collins.
thats what i thought too, heavy metal phil collins, her voice melodic too
He reminds me more of Phil Ehart
I actually met Brann when they were supporting Slayer and Slipknot in 2004 I think it was.Leviathan had just been released and they did a short 20 minute set,but I remember being blown away by his drumming skills.i saw him standing in the crowd after the Slayer set,and I recognised him and said how impressed I was with his drumming and that Leviathan was a great record. He was a super nice guy and very polite.Mastodon deserve all the success they can get.
I really think Mastodon is perfection. Every release they’ve had is worth listening to from start to finish. They really know how to make it work
Yes except for hush and grim.
@@mariomorales3482 hushed and grim is amazing
@@mariomorales3482 hushed and grim is a masterpiece
@@aafisher100 idk about that but its def got some amazing songs that elevated their sound. Consistent band, can count with one hand how many of those there are
Do not fear perfection, you will never achieve it.
Salvador Dali
What a cool interview. Brann is very humble - he's a beast on drums and vocals!
Younger bands should take note. No break-ups, no member switches.
Not only that, but they started out very underground sounding and none of them could sing worth a fuck, but somehow managed to crack the "mainstream". All of these traits are so rare yet Mastodon have flourished with them.
true
I saw them live eight years ago and then again yesterday (at the same location), and I was pretty astonished at the leap their singing has made. They sounded so good.
Crack the Skye is a masterpiece and I love Brann's drumming and his voice. Had the pleasure of seeing Mastodon with Opeth and Khemmis in Detroit recently, and they were on fire! Brann, keep it up dude. You're incredible.
I was supposed to see that billing with a friend when they came through Cleveland, but couldn’t make it. I didn’t know beforehand that Khemmis was on the bill and was extra bummed when my buddy told me so.
@@aaronstark5060 Damn that sucks dude. Khemmis are a favorite of mine and they absolutely killed it.
@@TheMetalGaia
Yeah, he didn’t know who they were (I’m the one in the friendship who introduces him to all these bands), so he didn’t even know how much worse his telling me that made it.
Was at the Masonic for that show. Was my first exposure to Opeth Live, and I was not impressed, but that is just me. I am really not a big fan of them to begin with, but tried to go into that show with an open mind. They were just "meh" to me and my tastes. 'Don crushed it on this last tour.
@@muttonmark tbh I mostly agree. I've always struggled to get into a lot Opeth's music as well. Just doesn't hit hard enough. But yeah Mastodon crushed it!
Brann is such a great dude. He's so humble and well spoken, he could be a douche with his level of talent but nope, chill AF. Really love this man and his music.
Brann has always been a class act and one of the most genuine guys in music today the new album is awesome and every word and every song seem to have been written for me thanks guys this means so much to me this has helped me through a rough time in my life
Will be hanging out with Mr. Brann this weekend. Sam - Great meeting you outside of Budweiser Stage (Toronto) after Mastodon and Gojira played this past year. Really appreciated the time. Shout-out to your Chino interview from 2010. Happy Holidays, BangerTV!
Very cool interview. Love these two gentlemen. Brann Dailor is such an amazing drummer and singer, so down to earth and funny. Great advice to Mr. Dunn's son 🤗🤗 Cannot wait to see the mighty Mastodon in concert again 🔥🔥🔥
Met Brann a few times over the last 15 or so years, always remembered me, and was always insanely nice and down to Earth. Great drummer and even better person!
I have had the pleasure of meeting Brann a few times and he was very cool!
Mastodon!!!
Saw you live Brann with Mastodon in October 2017 in Montreal. You truly are an octopus. SICK playing and sick concert.
Wow, Brann’s advice to that young drummer was truly stellar!
Another reason he’s one of the best in the biz!
Love this interview. Two cool dudes in a park with a lot of experience having a genuine conversation about interesting things, not just an "interview."
I love it when Brann gives advice and you can really feel that he’s really putting himself into the zone as if he is a ten year old boy who wants to progress in drumming.
I met him two times here in Buenos Aires, have pictures with him. He is a kind soul and a really funny guy. I really hope he has a great and magnificent life forever.
Great video! His advise to your son was gold!
What a great interview! Just gotta love Brann (and all the other dudes from Mastodon aswell), he's such a humble and well-spoken guy, you really feel that when he talks, he doesn't just want to babble something to get the interview or question behind him, he really takes his time to give a full thought-on answer, he wants you to understand his point of view and I really adore this.
But also big probs to Sam, he led this interview in an awesome way, really made it enjoyable, informative and entertaining... Great job and thank you so much!
Love this interview. Two great guys, and what a group of guys in Mastodon! I've been in the Atlanta metal scene a minute, and have seen these guys out and about a decent bit because mutual friends. Never bothered them, but everyone around them was all smiles and having a legit good time. One if my best buds works on stuff with Brent. And hearing those stories, you get to see how great these guys are FOR what the influence and do for the Atlanta scene. Class acts, all!
We'll done as usual man! You are One of the best.
(ha! Jumped in 54 seconds after it came online! 🤘
Great interview, it felt we were all hanging around
Can we get an overkill unearthed of Sam talking about Crack the Skye?!
not a bad idea !
This was amazing to watch, great conversation. Thank you Sam
What a great interview - it was more like just hangin' out.
This is such a great interview!
Say When, And I'll Come Running Back. ❤
Brann is such a cool dude. I've only got to see Mastodon once, back in '09, but I'm hoping to be able to catch them on this tour in September. One of my all time favorite bands.
Cool interview. Love Mastodon.
My favorite band of all time. Perfection.
Outstanding interview, Sam. Really enjoyed this. Quality!
J'aime tellement ce groupe. Et Brann est un batteur incroyable. Et quelle surprise quand il s'est mis à chanter. Ça a permis au groupe d'atteindre de nouveaux sommets.
Mastodon is one of my all time favorite bands. They just have such an awesome sound and feel to their music. It also doesn't hurt that I can't think of a single song they've put out that I don't like. Can't say that for any other band except for Pantera.
Mastodon is so amazing.
this was an automatic pre-like! Two of my favorite people!
Excellent interview. Brann is amazing as always; but Sam had really good questions for him.
I loved what he said about playing drums and singing at the same time, which to me is almost as hard as playing bass and singing. Great advice.
definitely harder lol
What a great interview.
Young dude will always remember the one time he met Brann Dailor sitting at a gazebo.
Amazing interview from the best drummer in the scene
Really good and interesting questions!👍
I want to thank Sam Dunn for introducing me to Mastodon about 10 years ago through one of his metal documentaries. After saw some the czar live footage I was instantly in love with this band. Seen them 3 times live now since that moment and their music helped me through some really difficult times. Really blessed to have found them. Again thank you Sam and Mastodon ♥️🔥
My first drum hero! Saw them at my first big show! My parents were only slightly chilly lol
Dude! That kid is definitely following in his dad's footsteps.
Brann was the first major drum hero of that 2000's time. Back then you had some great drummers. You had Chris Pennie from Dillinger Escape Plan, Ken Schalk from Candiria. Dave Witte from Burnt By the Sun and later Municipal Waste. But Brann was so entertaining, multitalented and energetic. Just a complete character.
Gobblers of Dregs is soooooo fkin good
Mastodon is such a kickass band
Opeth: Essential Albums Locked Horns, featuring Brann Dailor. Do it.
Great drummer singer! Has a different voice and make a dynamic with a noise voice normal in sometimes when u listen a song like a metal song like mastodon.
Awesome!!
Is there any possibility to acquire one of the photos from that Toronto show!? I would like to pay the photographer for a photo where I can see myself clearly in the crowd! :D!!!!!!!!!!!!
dude does great interviews. very good interviewer
Love you dude. Miss you on IG but I'm not there anymore either. Best drummer of ALL time. You just keep getting better and better and your vocals on this new album.. man, almost a triple threat, can you dance too? 🤩😉🥁🎤❤️
Brann rules!
He always looks so young, healthy and fresh. I'm probably about 10 years younger and looked fucked in comparison. Awesome man!
Mastodon has been my fav band for about 15 yrs now. It's lucky for fans that they're such cool guys, among themselves, and don't pull the ego-trip crap. I'm 59, so I feel like such an old-fart at their shows, until they get on stage, then I don't give af.
If you think about it, drums and vocals were the first 2 instruments. Singing and drumming is primal. It’s always been the most natural instrument for me to sing & play, anyways 🤷♂️
What a cool dude.
Great interview as always Sam
Brann!!
*Papa Sam is back, baby!*
mastodon is a catchy tune all day, weeks, months, years.....
Fucking Legend!!! Legends, both...
Whats the intro riff name?
Methinks he’ll be the next Foo Fighter drummer if they continue
Made me sad when he said I don't have any siblings
Lost his sister.
@@robwalsh9843 I know. Suicide. Ugh
SICK 🤘🏼🎙🎙🤘🏼
Off topic: can someone tell me, what song is played during the credits at the end? Shazam has no clue…
Genius
Sam Dunn is a legend
Anyone that knows where to get that leather jacket?
Wal Mart
OZZY OSBOURNE: I feel Taking all of the songwriting credits is better for my pocketbook
SEBASTIAN BACH: I Feel Doing The Screams Is Worthy Of Getting An Equal Split On Songs I did Not write
🤣😂🤣😂
Sick \m/
@12:50
Why is this 10 year old more perceptive and intelligent than 97% of the human populous?
I have a feeling we have a future prodigy, spawned from the advice of a modern prodigy. He has no clue he isn't asking some "drummer dude", he's getting advice from the most humble god-tier mortal in our realm.
Mayhem!!
Brann for President 2024
Cool dude
🤘🏻👹
I like Sam's jacket.
same - was trying to work out what the logo was

🤘
❤❤❤❤❤
Why does Brann look the SAME as when they began
Brann is metal’s Dave Grohl: unstoppably cool, extremely talented, and humble as a man can be.
BD is an awesome! Drummer. But I've grown really tired of Mastodon. Emperor of Sand was the Last album I bought and it's my least favorite. Very Talented group but just grew tired of them.🤘
Give Hushed and Grim a try, I recommend More than I Can Chew, Teardrinker, and Gigantium
love their albuns until Crack The Skye, after that is some boring collections of music in my opinion
Lol.
