Videos like this are where you see just how brilliant some of the game's greatest golfers are. So many young golfers just pull out a wedge and throw the ball up in the air and get knocked around. These guys have every shot in the bag and can maneuver around the course and create opportunities. It was great to watch Sir Nick do it. Great video - made me laugh and made me respect Sir Nick more than I already did.

Its how I play the game but I think that's from playing as a kid in the era of soft ballata balls, bladed irons and persimmon woods its how you had to play we didn't have 3 different wedges you had to manufacture shots with difficult equipment after hitting not very long because of traditional lofts and the ball not travelling very far.....it was a different game...when I had lessons even as young as 9 the pro had me shaping shots and changing trajectory because back then thats what you did....

Bubba Watson is my favorite player. He was also voted the player on tour the pros would least likely help if he got in a bar fight. I think he’s a great competitor and does things his own way. Faldo was legendary and won majors and gained respect for winning.

Sir Nick, what a player he was, never the longest hitter but he could put a score together in the big tournaments, just a winner, my mate Roy's all time favourite golfer.

I remember an interview once where Sir Nick spoke about his golfing prime. They would work out their yardages to the decimal. For instance, he wouldn't try to hit it 185 or 186. He would try to hit it 185.7. That's how dialed in he was.

Faldo is hugely undervalued and under appreciated in the UK. We just don’t like winners that much. We prefer a glorious loser. Faldo was an out and out winner

This was probably one of my favorite matches you played with anyone. I just wish we could've seen 6 or 9 holes on a better weather day. Rick, maybe you'll have to make a trip to Montana or Florida to play Sir Nick Flado? I'm sure your fans would love to see it. Keep up the great work, that you're doing to entertain us all, and keep just enjoying life. Cheers!
Btw, I'm not really wanting a rematch, to see you win, Rick. I just Find Sir Nick so insightful.

Just mesmerising to watch, every piece of advice he gives is priceless.
I have not tried to play golf since I was a kid and funnily enough I went to Myerscough junior golf academy where I believe you studied for a few year Rick?
I've only very recently found your channel and you've really inspired me to just give it another go 20 years on.
Do you have any videos on clubs for newbies?

One of my favourite Rick Shields videos. Sir Nick so understated about his own game and the simple advice he gave. The explanation and consequence of a weak grip was almost a throwaway line, but the first time I really understood why it’s such a problem. No wonder the Americans love him on their line up. Brilliant stuff, thank you both👍

Excellent video. Nick Faldo is one of the greatest golfers of all time and can still get it done. I really appreciated the opportunity to watch the exhibition of golf that you two provided us with on a cold, blustery day that would not have found me more than a short putt away from my warm fireplace.

Never commented on one of your videos before. I used to play properly when I was 14-18 (member at a very nice club, handicap and all that jazz), then kind of left the game and only played once or twice in a year for the next 15 years. Watching you and Faldo here has made me message my old man and organise a day on the course again. Need my clubs re-gipped first, the rubber has gone.
Great stuff and thanks for the inspiring content.

A step back to the great days, on my favourite course. Could watch the legend that is Sir Nick playing golf for ever. Just about every good shot I ever played was down to learning from his coaching videos (remember actual video tapes…) Thanks for a super video Rick.
Talking about practice, I remember heading out to play Cruden Bay one day and seeing Paul Lawrie practicing bunker shots and chipping near the clubhouse.
18 holes later, windswept and knackered, as we headed back to the clubhouse, Mr Lawrie was still there practicing. No wonder he was ready for Carnoustie.

There aren’t many things I love in sport, more than seeing a retired retired pro still playing the sport that served them well at the top of their game…purely because they still have the same love and passion for it as they ever did. It reveals the little kid in is still in them, that got them loving the sport in the first place.

Faldo was my hero growing up. As a 15 year old kid in 1989 I loved watching him win the Maters for the first time, especially after it looked like he was going to lose. When Scott Hoch missed the 2 foot putt in the playoff I went nuts.

For those people too young to have seen Faldo win majors, he was the absolute king of controlling the controllables. He wasn't flash, but he didn't waste shots. Kept it straight, and had an aura. Tigers era sort of swept away the old guard, but Faldo was the king of Ryder Cup 1979 to 1997. Great longevity and a superstar

I remember his win at Muirfield. IIRC it was 18 straight pars in the final round. He'd had a lot of grief from the press and in his speech at the presentation he said "I thank the press from the heart of my bottom." So many man-points were gained by him on that day.
