Was never a lover of Faldo as a player, as I felt he was pretty detached and aloof but have warmed to him in his latter years as a commentator. Seems to have lightened up and I quite like listening to him.
The single minded approach to be a winner which served him well and contributed to 6 Majors.. Agree he didn’t come across particularly well back in the day, but plenty of others would love his record..
Never was a fan when he played but my opion is so much different. Was really disappointed when he stepped down from CBS as a commentator and i could listen to him all day with his golf stories and the golf swing
I was a big Faldo fan as a kid...for a few years he kept blowing leads in majors and I wondered if he was going to be yet another British (English) sportsperson who had so much talent but not the mental strength to win. Then he remodelled his swing with David Leadbetter...and finally won the Open in '87. Then he went on to win 6 Majors in total. I'll never forget the back to back Masters wins. Not met him - he seems friendly enough but it's interesting to read comments to the contrary...
I think we see the real Nick, now. He was so cool as a player but all that emotion was under the surface and we see it now. He’s at the top table as a golfer and a pundit.
Always been a fan of Faldo. And here he tells us the difference between the greats and us hackers; even if I *think* “y’know,I think I’ve got this game sorted.” And then the Golfing Gods hear it… BAM!
He’s supposed to be retired from broadcasting but perhaps he might want to do something like that though seeing how he’s going to be around there that week anyway being able to attend all the festivities as a past champion.
Kind of a catty comment about Floyd but at the top level those guys don't go out of their way to make friends. I'm sure Floyd didn't much care for Faldo either. Interesting thing about Nick - other than his 3 wins at Augusta he had no top 10's, whereas Floyd had the won victory by 8 shots in 1976 and 11 top 10's - who was the more consistent competitor?
Upon further review, you're probably right - at that level you have to have a killer instinct - nice guys work in a 7/11. Imagine what Hogan was like - look what Faldo did to Norman - bloody
I know Faldo has a reputation as being somewhat of a pr*ck, but when I saw him in the movie about Seve, and he's crying at Seve's funeral, and talking about Seve being a young kid playing golf in his hometown, I warmed up to him a bit more.
Here’s a quick quiz on the power of the media Which player is getting ready to get married for the 6th time to a gal that used to be a stripper 1 John Daly 2 tiger woods 3 sir nick faldo 3 is the correct answer
The US Open could pull the same crap I suppose. But unlike the Brits, we don't cling to ownership of a worldwide sport. BTW, Scotland is the home of Golf.
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I loved everything about Sir Nick. I loved him in his youth when he was a bit prickly and loved his stories in the booth. Trevor is solid and I may come to love him as much……
Thank you Mr. Faldo for all the great memories,
I love to go for couple of pints with Nick faldo and listen to his stories when he was a professional golfer,he's got such wicked sense of humour.

As a kid I honestly thought it was Han Solo playing golf. I thought he was alright

@@adamozmin8970said this many times, him and Harrison Ford separated at birth 😂
Exactly my feelings as well. Love him a bunch as a commentator.
Reason I play golf, British sporting icon....you don't win what he's done by being nice ffs

Cut off at worst moment! Otherwise nice chat.
Exactly right, don't cut the video before the best bit.
"The word is control, that's my ultimate .. to have control" If only his playing mantra had carried over to his broadcasting career and beyond.

Faldo has always been very impressed with himself.
Working on it, just made the turn to the back 9
Why not 6 majors that’s impressive in its self!!!!
Jack competed against Snead and Palmer in 1960. He competed against Faldo and Norman in the late eighties. GOAT means longevity.
Jack finished tied sixth, four shots behind Mark O'Meara in the 1998 Masters. As defending champion Tiger was two shots behind Jack.
Love that accent, seriously posh!🤝💪🇬🇧🇬🇧🇿🇦
Nope. Read up on him and especially his youth.
It's not posh, it's just neutral.
Gr8 player...gr8 guy...I like him...always did. He has a gr8 sense of humor too...😊
I hope he takes Lundquists spot at the 16th tower ever year at the Masters
He’s supposed to be retired from broadcasting but perhaps he might want to do something like that though seeing how he’s going to be around there that week anyway being able to attend all the festivities as a past champion.
That’s my point, he is there already and always said he would miss calling championship golf. It’s a perfect fit
@@spencer2365 I’m sure the job is his if he wants it. Be interesting to see who eventually gets to replace Vern.
Yeah, that’s not going to happen.
Loved watching him in his prime even though my favorite player was Jose Maria
Knight of the realm who insists you call him 'Sir' has no chivalry.
sir....what a crock...
I ran into him in Rome a few years back…he was an absolute asshole.
They say never meet your idol 😂😂😂
How come?
@@RavishingRickRude5 many people have bad experience meeting their heroes.
@@chevy4x466 True. I've bumped into famous ppl in the past and they weren't very nice
I thought Nicklaus used Mac Gregor golf balls
He was using Titleist balls when I saw him at Colonial in Fort Worth. Mostly MacGregor clubs.
Come on guys you can’t end it when he’s just about to show us the best shot of his life !. I nearly subscribed until that terrible end to the video 👎
The whole interview is also available ……
Frank Nablo said, "no one liked being paired with Faldo, he was too slow".
I don't think Jack ever played with a Titleist in competition.
Joe 'Daddys Coat Tails' Buck
And
Nick 'Sir Constipated Face' Faldo

Faldo
Floyd should have won in 1990. Started laying up trying to sit on his lead and let Faldo catch him.
Met him twice. He’s quite rude. And to be honest if he was a bar of chocolate he’d eat himself
I know Faldo has a reputation as being somewhat of a pr*ck, but when I saw him in the movie about Seve, and he's crying at Seve's funeral, and talking about Seve being a young kid playing golf in his hometown, I warmed up to him a bit more.
Well done for not showing his best shot ever. Sort of makes the clip pointless
Sir Nick did not have it under control when his girlfriend, Brenda Ceplak broke his car window with a golf club
Did the right thing cheating on his wife though. She was disgusting
she took I believe it was a 9 iron to his Porsche...repeatedly....
Luv the cynical recognition of “Jack” as the pompous bear!
If he was made of chocolate he’d have eaten himself before breakfast
Here’s a quick quiz on the power of the media
Which player is getting ready to get married for the 6th time to a gal that used to be a stripper
1 John Daly
2 tiger woods
3 sir nick faldo
3 is the correct answer
That's a knight you're slandering
Who knighted him?
Jimmy Saville?
Joe Buck is so painful
I dad used to call him Nick Foldo.
Hate it when Americans call it the British open....
No it's the Open
1. It’s not just Americans who call it that.
2. America says Soccer, everyone else says futbol. Get over it.
I’m old enough to remember when it was called the British Open for years. Snobby Brits changed it some years ago, so there’s that.
The US Open could pull the same crap I suppose. But unlike the Brits, we don't cling to ownership of a worldwide sport. BTW, Scotland is the home of Golf.
I took up the game because of watching Faldo. I will never forgive him
Trevor is 100 times better than Nick as a commentator. Sean McManus, head of CBS Sports said the same thing.
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I loved everything about Sir Nick. I loved him in his youth when he was a bit prickly and loved his stories in the booth.
Trevor is solid and I may come to love him as much……
Why is he trying so hard? He’s not funny at all.
Sir pri c k
Faldo was the goat
Some jealous folks on here
Nope just pointing out the pure arrogance...second only to Monty
I saw him in a mall in Florida a few years back
He was rooting around the sale rail
He must be skint from all those divorces
Shouldn't have married that lass in the 80's. She looked like a bloke
Had the misfourtune to meet him twice (Vegas & Rome) total shithouse of a man..!
Also must always only be addessed as Sir Nick.
