  • Reviewing my experience living with the Mercedes-Benz E200 CDI (W212 Facelift).
    This Mercedes E-Class has been my daily driver for over 2 years and my ownership journey is coming to an end.
    This video shows key features, the acceleration 0-100kph, trunk space, under the bonnet, fuel economy and I also discuss the issues I faced as well as what I love about it.
    Overall, the car is great. I would recommend buying one of these but only if it is in good condition, with a good service history.
    If the owner seems defective, the car probably is too!!
    The best things about the car:
    The price to quality ratio. As a pre-owned car, a decent one is between 12k and 20k, depending on the year / mileage.
    The look, timeless in my opinion.
    The solid driving experience. Refined. Smooth.
    The tech is excellent for the price point. It is a high tech car for a low price as a pre-loved machine.
    Reliability. I have had no trouble with my car in the 2 years and almost 40k kms.
    Fuel economy. I got 5.4l / 100kms on motorway, 6.5 in town. Overall approx 6.0 was the average. To compare, my mate's 2014 Landrover Discovery gets 10.1 l/100km and my wife's 2012 Fiat 500 gets 5.2 l/100km
    Worst things about the car:
    It is really nice. This means I can't use it to transport anything dirty (like a dog).
    It is a saloon. I cannot bring large items in the rear. Rear seats do not fold.
    Maintenance is VERY important to be done on a car like this to keep the mechanical gremlins at bay. Maintenance from Mercedes Benz is quite expensive.
    Key facts about my ownership:
    Bought November 2019 for €15950. I traded in a 2012 VW Golf 1.2 Auto and paid the balance.
    Sold December 2021 for €12500.
    Serviced twice, costing €350 and €450 each.
    New tires, €800.
    Brake pads, €300.
    Air Conditioning re-gas €60.
    New battery €290.
    Other than the above (standard maintenance on a car with this mileage) there were no other issues whatsoever.
    Any questions, please put them below. Cheers!

    The bonnet carpet is sound proofing and anti vibration so it quietens the engine sound.

      Just did the A9, the big one! 1280 euro. Plus 2000 in needs done. The first 1000 gets done tomorrow, injectors pulled, cleaned, re-seating and transmission cooler replacement. Then April for the flex pipe and stabilizer links. And its normal. These parts get used up. Much I could do myself but they have good coffee and a beautiful accountant that I like and a high brow showroom to literally sniff around.

    I got the e class 2014 coupe bluetec e350, I only drive it conservatively I’m trying to preserve its lifespan and hopefully won’t rack up too much cost if I only use it occasionally small trips.
    To be honest I just wanted a nice car, but in all honesty I still only use it for to A to B trips

    • @FalertTheDim
      @FalertTheDim  2 года назад +2

      These cars are meant to be driven. There is a reason you see them as taxis in Berlin. Looked after well, they can get over 1,000,000km on the clock. But having one and not driving it, that is what made me decide to sell it on. They are too nice to sit on a driveway!

    • @albertakinremi248

      @@FalertTheDim but if I drive it conservatively, won’t it last me longer? I got it high mileage 100k miles but I’m think if I drove it conservatively it will last me 3+ years ideally I want the car to last me

    • @FalertTheDim
      @FalertTheDim  2 года назад +1

      @@albertakinremi248 In theory yes, but if you look after it, it should last a very long time regardless of how much you drive it. They are very sturdily built cars. Regular servicing is key. 100k miles for these cars is quite low. I sold mine at 125k miles and it was giving no trouble at all.

    • @albertakinremi248
      @albertakinremi248 2 года назад

      @@FalertTheDim mine is a 2014 e350 bluetec, is it a good idea to get a warranty on this type of car at such mileage? I am thinking to try and stay safe in case of costly repairs 🤔 would getting a warranty make sense?

    • @FalertTheDim
      @FalertTheDim  2 года назад +3

      @@albertakinremi248 Yes, repairs can be expensive - especially from a main Mercedes-Benz dealer. Warranties can give you peace of mind, but ensure to get one that covers all aspects of the car, not just the engine / gearbox. They can be expensive too, but if the cost of repairs is weighing on your mind, well worth it. In my view, no point having a nice car if you are worried to drive it.

    I have never seen one with the absolute base options. There is not one option on this car. I thought I had a decently base E350 AWD. I have about 10 options, which is near base, considering there is about 90 othet options. This car doesn't even have a 50 dollar/Euro option. Wow and it's a 200. It's in great condition for the milage. Most first year face-lifts are 2014. This better get damn amazing MPG. 0-60 in 10.2? Are you really doing an acceleration demonstration? ;)
    As a caveat...That Eco explanation is incorrect. That Eco button is for stop start in conditions that never occur. That button has nothing to do with the ECO/Sport button. You like to buy money pit cars. That Fiat os the worst built.
