Broly was built different as a baby, he sensed the entire nursey but goku's ki was the only thing he could focus on when he was in there with him. Even though goku was barely anything on their saiyan scanners, he could sense ki from birth and sensed the potential goku had.
Like how guru could touch you to sense it and awaken your potential his ki sensing was so strong he could tell off rip out of all the pure blooded saiyans in the room the one with the potential closest to unlock a super saiyan form was goku. Broly has Ptsd from his Ki.

Can't say I feel sorry for Paragus... dude tried to LEAVE HIS OWN SON FOR DEAD... this after his son saved his life. It was a fitting ending.
But Broly can survive the explosion, he survived a planet's destruction as a baby....
Also, we get to see a short scene in the observatory where he kills a loyal collaborator, only to cover his steps. This scene further demonstrates how much of a scumbag Paragus has become after he managed to install the control device on his son. It's odd, because Paragus projects the image of a valliant man when he attempted to protect a city from the wrath of a teenage Broly. The OAV has a shovel load of plot holes and exposition shotrtcomings.

When he saw the power his son possessed, and realized he held the device to control his power, Paragus must’ve been taken over by desires to rule the universe, using his son as a weapon of destruction. When you view your child as nothing but a weapon, yeah, I would suspect you begin to become a scumbag after a while. Broly must’ve seen through that too. This is just me thinking it over.

Frieza, while being no better himself, was completely right about the Sayians. This scene is chilling for one other reason outside of how brutally he killed his father, and that's just how deep Broly's senses and hearing is. "Did you really think I would die just because this planet is about to explode?" He heard every word his father said from far away and even gave him a chance to redeem himself before hearing that sorry excuse. This version of Broly is insanely evil, smart, and his abilities to read people and hear from a distance is off the chain. That's truly scary af.

But this only showed how Broly no longer accepts the fact that Paragus is his own father. The way how he asks Paragus on where he's going hints how Broly sees Paragus as an obstacle that would keep interfering with his power. At that point, Broly no longer thinks Paragus is his own father but rather a waste of Saiyan blood to dispose of.

Broly is a monster!! Crushing that space pod and hurling it into outer space is a pretty impressive feat. Consider how durable that ship must be to withstand crashing into planets at thousands of miles per hour upon landing. Not only that, it must weigh a few tons. In addition, it would take a lot of force to crush a fully grown Saiyan's body like that, seeing as how Saiyans bone structures and muscles can withstand super high gravity.
Dude crushing a space pod is nothing to basically anyone in this series, everyone can already obliterate planets without any effort lol
