Gy6 150cc autochoke to manual choke conversion

  • Some Ruckus gy6 swap harnesses don't have a connection for the auto choke, so it gets removed and the hole filled, or left unplugged, or maybe you just don't want to deal with them failing on your scooter.This allows you to cheaply and easily install a manual choke on your auto enrichment needle (auto choke) on your gy6 150cc engine.

    Yeah thanks bro this is great. I'm sick of my electric choke constantly stuffing up the starting process so I'm going to remove it completely and send it to manual like you did

    Just did this on my Honda elite 80. Worked great. Before my bike was running way too rich on startup. I threaded the bolt maybe 1 1/4 inch into the choke so its always off. Still starts up cold fine like that

    3:46 I used this litttle mounting-clip as a stencil for 2 holes on an equally-sized small metal plate, the same size as the 2 holes of the clip.
    Then I made an even bigger hole exactly between those 2 small holes, and threaded it.
    Then screwed a bolt through that bigger hole, and also screwed the bolt´s end on the e-choke´s needle-stack, that has a piece of plastic at its top-end, with a hole, in which above mentioned bolt could be screwed in (self-forming the threads in the plastic-hole while you screw the bolt in).

    My scooter's enrichment won't work. Took carb apart and all passages are clear. Enricher itself does work, it extends with time to close, but idle is just constant at low idle, cold or hot. I made a test flat plate with a gasket to replace the enricher and see if I get a fast idle when cold and idle is always low. You'd figure if the passages were clear from inside the enricher housing to the carb, the fast idle would engage with the flat pate. But it won't. Any ideas ?

    Does one apply heat before attempting to twist it out? My plastics snapped when I tried it cold. I ordered 2 more to experiment and I WILL share my results when successful as failure is NOT an option. LOL
    But seriously, will applying heat help loosen things?

    • @eric67miller
      @eric67miller 3 месяца назад

      I tried my heat gun on high, started melting stuff, still would not release.
      I ended up using "Starbond super glue remover" to get it to break loose, possibly acetone or some other solvent might work also. There is a locking sealant in the threads.

    • @bdates1111

      I never had a problem with it. Low heat could work, but I would use a rubber mallet or plastic hammer and gently tap around the glue joint a few times

    Also simply unplugging it at the other end will work.

      @@ljaymaster these electric chokes "grow" pushing the enriching needle to close the circuit. When no current is applied it retracts and again enables the choke. By unplugging there would be no power, so I think it would let fuel flow through the enricher. Mine is stuck closed so I can unplug and not run rich, but only bc the bistarter is broken.
