    This video was very helpful. I have been having problems with backfiring and crackling with my 2003 Buell Blast since I purchased it five years ago. Once it warmed up it was fine but the first five minutes it just backfired and crackled. I guess I could’ve taken it to a shop but I am a thrifty person and I always assume I can fix it myself. My problem was the auto-enricher and thanks to this video my Buell Blast runs like a champ. Thank you again. PS. I replaced my boot with a 2” silicone hose purchased from eBay for $4.00. So far so good.

    Thank you, this was just the video i was looking for!
    It explains perfectly how the auto enricher looks and what you can do with it, and how the diaphragm looks too. i just recently bought an old Kymco Filly so i'm learning to tinker with it. and me and my friend were cleaning the carb (he knows his stuff with motorcycles), but after putting the carb back (adjusted air-fuel by 3.5 turns out) it drives well but won't start for the life of it unless i open like 1/2 throttle (no matter if cold or warm), and when warm it just straight up dies unless i hold the throttle. sometimes it holds high revs in idle and revs wont come down unless i give a bit of gas, or when i pick up the back end and drop it, then revs come down.
    anyways, i hope to fix it this week, and your video helped me a lot in figuring out things!

    Ohhhh god, I'm so stupid lol
    I took apart the enricher when I cleaned my carb and tightened it fully when I assembled it...
    I was getting crazy about why it had such a hard time idling cold...
    THANK YOU!

    THANK YOU~!!!!!!!!!!! I knew there had to be some kind of adjustment to this enricher, your the first person to show the threaded adjustement to this, now maybe my scoot, will run better... keep up the good work Bro. enjoyed as well as learned...

    Hey man thanks for the informative video! I just bought a 2002 Buell Blast 2 weeks ago but it is not running as it is supposed to. I know this video is 4 years old but can you help me diagnose the problem and tell me what you think is wrong? Here, I'll tell you what is going wrong. After I bought her, I got the float bowl part of the carb cleaned. The bike started right up after that but then started leaking fuel out of the carb (It didn't have this problem before) So I then took the float bowl apart again, adjusted the float level a little tighter so that no fuel would come out when it is up. Put it back together, turned the Petcock On and it wasn't leaking anymore. Ok, went to start up the Bike. And didn't start. Now, the only way she will start is if I cover the intake part of the carb with a towel. Hopefully you can give me advice so I could fix it since Harley charges $100 an hour. (Too Expensive for my Budget)

    Very informative, helped me out. But now still coughing back thru carb. New enrichmener, jets changed, exhaust, shimed pin. But can't get it to stop backfiring thrucarb.

    I am working on a 2006 buell blast and can't get it to start with manually choking the carb. I have cleaned and blown air thru every opening I can find. It runs fine when warmed up and will start then without problem. When cold it is manual choke or nothing and it will backfire until warmed up. any ideas?

    Thanks for posting this helpful video. I'm trying to help a friend with her 2001 Blast, and the threaded adjustment sleeve on her auto enricher seems seized and will not turn to allow for adjustment. Tried penetrating oil, but no-go. I'm reluctant to clamp down on this piece with vice grips to try to get some leverage. Any suggestions or tricks to getting this thing to turn? Thanks!

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  10 лет назад +1

      It's very tight since it's against spring pressure. If I remember correctly, mine was very tight the first time, like they used thread-locker on it.

    I had to buy a new one for mine but the whole gets completely covered with he parts we put in it and it doesent just go back into place easily. I don't understand whats wrong because we bought the exact same housing for it and put our normal pieces inside and it just covers the hole instantly even if we loosen it up.

    Probably an obvious question, but if my blast is having trouble cold starting I wont to make the AE more rich right?

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  6 лет назад

      Yes, by making it more open when it's cold.

    Is it the same on mikuni carbs with the auto chokes? The more the plunger covers it the leaner?

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  4 года назад

      Honestly, I've not worked with Mikuni systems, but that is how the CV-40 auto-enricher works. When it is open, it allows more fuel and as it closes (as the engine supposedly reaches operating temperature), it leans out the mixture to the installed jets' values.
      I wish I had more experience with Mikuni carbs since they're a popular swap, but all my carb experience has either been 4bbl automotive or CV-40. Other than that, I'm an EFI guy. At this point, I don't have a carb'd engine that I could even put a Mikuni on to learn.

  • @mainebassfishing4you195
    @mainebassfishing4you195 2 года назад

    When I pulled mine out of the carb, the plunger and spring stayed in the hole. Yours seemed to stay on when you were messing with it. Is mine broke? She hates to start. Once it does it runs perfectly. Thanks.

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  2 года назад

      Yes, yours is broken. It's difficult to start because it's not enriching at all.

      @@LeesEBR thank you! I figured it wasn’t doing it’s job just floating around in there. New one ordered.

  • @markblundell9461
    @markblundell9461 3 года назад

    Correct me if I'm wrong but! This enrichener is basicly an electric choke. When the choke is off the rubber seal on the end of the brass plunger shuts off excessive fuel from entering the carb when the motor is hot.
    If you wind the plunger away from its seal you will be constantly on the metering needle even with a hot motor and therefore running too rich.

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  3 года назад

      A choke cuts off airflow forcing a rich condition. This is an enricher since it doesn't affect airflow but instead opens another fuel jet.
      You can crank the plunger all the way down, it still has enough throw to seal off completely when it warms up.

      That's a whole different engine. I would suggest you search forums and groups specific to your application. My channel is not one.

      Likely your fuel valve is clogged at the tank.

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  9 лет назад

      +RAT1969 See my response to Joseph below. Sorry for the late response. Perhaps use some channel locks with very light pressure so you don't crush the plastic housing but still get good leverage on it.

    Can you tell us what actually actuates the enrichment. Is it electric or a thermostat? I suspect mine isn't working.

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  8 лет назад +1

      It's electric, 12V.

      +Mike Miller they work off 12v ac mainly ie stator. but can work off 12v dc ie battery

    • @LeesEBR
      @LeesEBR  8 лет назад

      +James Birkin No, they do indeed work off +12VDC. Your Voltage Regulator converts the AC power from the stator into a regulated +14VDC that is used by all electronics on the motorcycle.
