Agreed, it turns these crappy fire tablets into genuinely great media devices. And the fact it can emulate pretty decently is a nice bonus. Cant wait to have mine and play some games on it
It's literally the first thing many people do when getting them and it's great. There's no way in hell ppl are getting these for the Amazon experience, like, at all. Hell, I'd dare to say that deep down inside Amazon knows this and just stays quiet about it for obvious reasons.

Ram makes a huge difference as I have this tablet and find it fast and fluid. They have improved what needed improving e.g. ram has doubled from 2019 model to this fire hd10plus with 4gb . It runs great and at its low price and especially when on sale it’s a knockout purchase for many wanting a new tablet
Hey there, how are you? I agree with you about the Amazon Fire HD, the overall design, and especially the stereophonic sound. I just recieved one for my birthday, and indeed, it's the greatest birthday gift ever. However, nothing compares to my miracle baby sister. Nonetheless, Amazon did an outstanding job with this one. Much better than an Ipad, in my opinnion (IMO).

I always felt Amazon tablets were always really good. Well built and good screens when screens weren’t so good. If you can handle the Amazon eco system then it’s a great buy.
I wonder if I just have bad luck. All 4 I’ve bought charge like a snail and lose charge in 30 minutes. Then they lag and freez up. I’ve tried 4 different generations now.
I got the Samsung Tab A7 at discount over the 2020 holiday season... It's not the fastest tablet, but it's reasonably spec'd and doesn't look like junk for the $150 price
You got ripped off, I bought one of those but I couldn't move apps to SD, I asked Samsung and they told me they purposely disabled that feature and offer no way to turn it back on, their excuse because not all apps run correctly from SD.......... I returned it.

Being able to add a micro SD card up to 1TB is a big increase from the last model which maxed out at 512GB. So basically doubled that. Unfortunately a 1TB micro sd costs more than the tablet itself lol. But still, maxing out the card potential is appreciated. That's a hell of a lot of games and videos you can put on a card that size.
I really like the thicker bezels on the Fire HDs-- gives you something to hold on to. I've got a Tab p11 pro and S7 fe and I'm constantly navigating away/scrolling/zooming on accident while reading. On a phone or TV I get it... but never understood why tablets try to minimize bezels as well. Don't need to fit in your pocket. Overall I use my Fire HD more often than any of my other tablets as its light, heavy duty and cheap.

I recently was surprised by my mom, herefore, she got me an Amazon Fire HD ten. I love it [mmuch more] than my other one, the Amazon Fire from two-thousand seventee. What I love about this one, the ten, is the super stereophonic sound. I'm a musician, technophile, audiophile, bibliophile, and cryptanalyst, amongst other gnostic epithets. Though I love electronics, nothing compares to my miracle baby sister. I would nevver put any device over her. Nonetheless, Amazon has totally systemized something for other technophiles out there.

The most I've managed to do on my fire 8 is to install play store. Removing all of the amazon software would be difficult and would probably have to install a new version of android but as you said the bootloader is most likely locked
The tablet is great if you get it on sale like prime day or holiday deals for $110. Honestly it's ideal for streaming videos, emails, web browsing, and light gaming. The display hasn't changed since it's 2017 predecessor but even for today's standards it is really good. Bluetooth 5.0 is nice, battery life is amazing, but speakers are really tinny so wired/wireless headphones is preferred. All in all really not a bad deal especially if you can snag it on sale.
I see the warranty has FINALLY been increased to one year instead of the 90day BS. This is a good thing since Fire tablets are quite death prone. My step mom has had multiple fail just outside of the warranty period. She may just have bad luck or they may be prone to being bad either way IF you decide to snag one of these I would get the extended warranty.
Your mom is doing something to them. I've bought 7 of these (two 10s, four 8s and a 7) gifts, and as "the tech guy" of the family I'm the one that takes care of them, installs playstore etc. The only issue any of them have had in over two years is a single cracked screen in an 8 owned by a 7 year old who sat on it.
An older snapdragon wouldn't cost a lot less than a newer one, it still has the high cost to manufacture. Look at new in box high end Intel CPU's from even 2019, they are still selling for a lot more than a brand new bottom of the line i3 CPU for 2023 will.
Only 110 bucks today (Prime Day). I just ordered mine with the Keyboard and screen protector. The total was about $190. Thanks to this video, I'm sure it'll be completely worth it. Thanks ETA!
ALWAYS, spend a bit more for the upgraded memory, especially on a product that isn't upgradeable. If you don't, you'll always be kicking yourself every time it lags or gets slow.
I still use my 8 year old Fire HDX 7". When Amazon puts out a full HD tablet at that screen size again, I'll buy it. None of their offerings have appealed to me as much since they discontinued this line.

Its really hard to recommend any other tablet other than Apple's ipad. The ipad is drastically better than any other tablet out there. The cheapest iPad is still 150 dollars more expensive than this but it can be found refurbished for cheaper and its performance, echo system, battery, and overall longevity is significantly better than its android counterparts

Looks a great tablet for the odd trip when we are allowed to travel again! But sadly Amazon do not sell this model in France and I’m not able to get them to deliver from the UK site to France either. I will have to get one sent to my sons house in UK and collect it from there when we are there.
I've loved tablets since Star Trek original. Just bought a new 10" Lenovo FHD and love it. Although it's most likely it's a bit more sluggish since it only has 2GB RAM. I bought an amazon tablet a few years ago and returned it. I couldn't even load an read my own PDF files!

Just bought the HD 10 over Black Friday for $75. Just add a case and fire toolbox and you've got a great little tablet. Been loving mine for some on the go productivity and emulation while at work.
Got my 10 plus for $104 with an amazon sale currently going on. It comes tomorrow. If it runs the same I really can't find a product for more bang for your buck. I got the 10 with only 3gb ram. Hoping this extra gig with the plus will make my Black Desert Mobile run smoother and have less crashes.
Should have mentioned this yesterday when you could still get the deal. But, I picked up the 3gb for 79.99 not including sales tax because of Amazon prime day. Sadly, it's bac to 149.99 now. I was figuring it was gonna be $99.99 US. Nice little extra savings. Probably get another chance at Black Friday Cyber Monday. How much of a discount you get is the question. This will be my first Fire Tablet so I am looking forward to seeing how well it performs. I almost pulled the trigger on an ONN 10 tablet. Glad I waited as it would have cost me 5 bucks more for worse performance. Not that I am dogging the ONN tablets. I have an 8 inch version haven't had any serious issues with it. Onn is a fine budget tablet. The Fire HD just has better specs from what ETA Prime has explained.
The only real upgrade hardware wise from 2019, is the 4 GB RAM, which really does not translate in more performance in a lot of apps and games. You can run more apps at the same time, but how often is that practice being used by ordinary persons. The wireless charging was an option for the 2019, and their phasing the none wireless charging models out, so that's a wash. What I am looking for is a reason to upgrade to 2021, and so far the improvements are not enough. If there was more graphics power/improvement to allow me to play Gamecube and above, I might actually be tempted. This is a hard pass, unless if I have real reason to get a second tablet.

I would pick Tab S6 lite over this. You can have it in EU for under 280E now (and in US it goes for sale for as low as $200), whereas the 64GB version of Fire 10 Plus costs 229£ (260E) here. You get free stylus, slightly better CPU and better built quality with that tablet.
Yeah I agree plus it comes with a 64bit version of Android. The os on the fire is stuck at 32bits only. Anything that can only run in 64bits will not run.
Just bought one for my wife, she loves to play mobile apps with her coworkers while working and the 4gb of ram should hopefully make a descent difference!
The Geekbench scores tie with a 5th gen A9 based iPad. It's a shame the Apple App Store locks out all these emulators! We need someone to win a antitrust lawsuit against Apple to open up the platform to other app stores!
I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I've got 2 emulators installed: Delta (which does GB, GBC, GBA, N64, DS, NES, and SNES) and RetroArch . No jailbreak. Both emulators run amazingly well and get rid of the on-screen controls display when you connect a controller via Bluetooth making the experience more enjoyable.

Eh, I got the 2019 for less than half what the 2021 plus costs. Since the cpu is the same the performance is mostly the same. I would rather save the money and stick with 2019.
I have spare devices, and they can lag and buffer once in a while, due to the wifi router network. My mobile hotspot has 35g, of high speed than it goes (without say), to a lower speed, until next monthly period. Tip is to use the silk browser or devices internet browser. Make sure Internet is reliable. I'm impressed wit the Bluetooth controllers you put into your thumbnails. Thanks for reviews.
Charging port failure being so common, the dock or wireless charging option of the Plus make it the must have version of this device. An extra gig of RAM and wireless charging is more than worth the premium.
I bought this particular tablet last month on EBay for $77 and bought a 400gb micro SanDisk a few days ago. I now have a bigger, better, faster device that will store a ton of books. And, the video quality is quite good for a budget tablet.

I have the HD 10 plus which I use it for Netflix and Prime video and have been very pleased with the quality. Unfortunately, I can’t run Viki on it since they have stopped supporting Android. Installing the PlayStore has made a big difference to its overall functionality. They keyboard is heavy for travelling around but good for indoors. The ability to add an SD card is really useful. Extremely good value for money.
Always found the 10” thick and power hungry. Never felt a premium tablet. Like the idea of the. keyboard case...but all of a sudden a cheap Chromebook starts looking like a competitor. Still very interesting, but for goodness sake ease up on the constant adverts in your videos.
You should add to your tests Zelda Ocarina of Time for the N64. That is a classic game and when talking about emulating old games, I think it would speak volumes.
Dollar for dollar + fire toolbox, these are the best android tablets out there. Especially on sale. But, this processor is essentially the same as the 2017/2019 models, and its really starting to show its age.

Felt the need to leave a comment here, I got the fire10 based on your videos and it seemed great at first, until I took a picture then tried to view it. If you try to open it up while in camera app it tells you it cant because of parental controls (they're turned off, tried turning them on and specifically oking pictures still no joy) and if you try to up it up in "files" you can't. I did a google search and I'm not the only one who's had this problem with a fire tablet but there doesn't seem to be a solution. So if you're going to get this tablet be aware you can't view photos on it.
Amazon have used an old soc, but it's not like Mediatek haven't put out newer stuff. Something from the G series or Dimensity series would have been better. Still, I think the P60T is cheap, so they are protecting their profit margins.
A big advantage of Amazon Fire tablets is security updates from Amazon for at least 6 years, which is longer than even an iPhone. It may be an old version of Android but Amazon keep it secure.

Ram makes a huge difference as I have this tablet and find it fast and fluid. They have improved what needed improving e.g. ram has doubled from 2019 model to this fire hd10plus with 4gb . It runs great and at its low price and especially when on sale it’s a knockout purchase for many wanting a new tablet
Hey there, how are you? I agree with you about the Amazon Fire HD, the overall design, and especially the stereophonic sound. I just recieved one for my birthday, and indeed, it's the greatest birthday gift ever. However, nothing compares to my miracle baby sister. Nonetheless, Amazon did an outstanding job with this one. Much better than an Ipad, in my opinnion (IMO).

For PPSSPP, you should add Burnout: Domination to your test suite. It's pretty much the heaviest PSP game to emulate in my tests.
Also the best racing game on the console.

I always felt Amazon tablets were always really good. Well built and good screens when screens weren’t so good. If you can handle the Amazon eco system then it’s a great buy.
I wonder if I just have bad luck. All 4 I’ve bought charge like a snail and lose charge in 30 minutes. Then they lag and freez up. I’ve tried 4 different generations now.

You got ripped off, I bought one of those but I couldn't move apps to SD, I asked Samsung and they told me they purposely disabled that feature and offer no way to turn it back on, their excuse because not all apps run correctly from SD.......... I returned it.

Being able to add a micro SD card up to 1TB is a big increase from the last model which maxed out at 512GB. So basically doubled that.
Unfortunately a 1TB micro sd costs more than the tablet itself lol. But still, maxing out the card potential is appreciated. That's a hell of a lot of games and videos you can put on a card that size.
Get an offbrand microsd card. You can get a 4 tb pretty cheap. They work just fine on most devices. Some do have problems though

I really like the thicker bezels on the Fire HDs-- gives you something to hold on to. I've got a Tab p11 pro and S7 fe and I'm constantly navigating away/scrolling/zooming on accident while reading. On a phone or TV I get it... but never understood why tablets try to minimize bezels as well. Don't need to fit in your pocket. Overall I use my Fire HD more often than any of my other tablets as its light, heavy duty and cheap.

I recently was surprised by my mom, herefore, she got me an Amazon Fire HD ten. I love it [mmuch more] than my other one, the Amazon Fire from two-thousand seventee. What I love about this one, the ten, is the super stereophonic sound. I'm a musician, technophile, audiophile, bibliophile, and cryptanalyst, amongst other gnostic epithets. Though I love electronics, nothing compares to my miracle baby sister. I would nevver put any device over her. Nonetheless, Amazon has totally systemized something for other technophiles out there.

The most I've managed to do on my fire 8 is to install play store. Removing all of the amazon software would be difficult and would probably have to install a new version of android but as you said the bootloader is most likely locked

The tablet is great if you get it on sale like prime day or holiday deals for $110. Honestly it's ideal for streaming videos, emails, web browsing, and light gaming. The display hasn't changed since it's 2017 predecessor but even for today's standards it is really good. Bluetooth 5.0 is nice, battery life is amazing, but speakers are really tinny so wired/wireless headphones is preferred. All in all really not a bad deal especially if you can snag it on sale.

I see the warranty has FINALLY been increased to one year instead of the 90day BS. This is a good thing since Fire tablets are quite death prone. My step mom has had multiple fail just outside of the warranty period. She may just have bad luck or they may be prone to being bad either way IF you decide to snag one of these I would get the extended warranty.
Your mom is doing something to them. I've bought 7 of these (two 10s, four 8s and a 7) gifts, and as "the tech guy" of the family I'm the one that takes care of them, installs playstore etc.
The only issue any of them have had in over two years is a single cracked screen in an 8 owned by a 7 year old who sat on it.
I don't understand. Why don't tablet manufacturers just use slightly older flagship chips? A SD 845 would blow that mediatech chip away.

An older snapdragon wouldn't cost a lot less than a newer one, it still has the high cost to manufacture. Look at new in box high end Intel CPU's from even 2019, they are still selling for a lot more than a brand new bottom of the line i3 CPU for 2023 will.
Only 110 bucks today (Prime Day). I just ordered mine with the Keyboard and screen protector. The total was about $190.

ALWAYS, spend a bit more for the upgraded memory, especially on a product that isn't upgradeable.
If you don't, you'll always be kicking yourself every time it lags or gets slow.
When on sale, you can find a recertified like new Samsung Tab S6 Lite for similar price or just a little more at Best Buy. That's what I recently did.

Its really hard to recommend any other tablet other than Apple's ipad. The ipad is drastically better than any other tablet out there. The cheapest iPad is still 150 dollars more expensive than this but it can be found refurbished for cheaper and its performance, echo system, battery, and overall longevity is significantly better than its android counterparts

Should have mentioned this yesterday when you could still get the deal. But, I picked up the 3gb for 79.99 not including sales tax because of Amazon prime day. Sadly, it's bac to 149.99 now. I was figuring it was gonna be $99.99 US. Nice little extra savings. Probably get another chance at Black Friday Cyber Monday. How much of a discount you get is the question. This will be my first Fire Tablet so I am looking forward to seeing how well it performs. I almost pulled the trigger on an ONN 10 tablet. Glad I waited as it would have cost me 5 bucks more for worse performance. Not that I am dogging the ONN tablets. I have an 8 inch version haven't had any serious issues with it. Onn is a fine budget tablet. The Fire HD just has better specs from what ETA Prime has explained.
The only real upgrade hardware wise from 2019, is the 4 GB RAM, which really does not translate in more performance in a lot of apps and games. You can run more apps at the same time, but how often is that practice being used by ordinary persons. The wireless charging was an option for the 2019, and their phasing the none wireless charging models out, so that's a wash. What I am looking for is a reason to upgrade to 2021, and so far the improvements are not enough. If there was more graphics power/improvement to allow me to play Gamecube and above, I might actually be tempted. This is a hard pass, unless if I have real reason to get a second tablet.

Here I am still rocking my Kindle Fire HDX 7". Which despite it's age still holds up very well.
I would pick Tab S6 lite over this. You can have it in EU for under 280E now (and in US it goes for sale for as low as $200), whereas the 64GB version of Fire 10 Plus costs 229£ (260E) here. You get free stylus, slightly better CPU and better built quality with that tablet.
Yeah I agree plus it comes with a 64bit version of Android. The os on the fire is stuck at 32bits only. Anything that can only run in 64bits will not run.
If it only had a 3.5mm headphone jack. I still like those on my tablets.

I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I've got 2 emulators installed: Delta (which does GB, GBC, GBA, N64, DS, NES, and SNES) and RetroArch . No jailbreak. Both emulators run amazingly well and get rid of the on-screen controls display when you connect a controller via Bluetooth making the experience more enjoyable.
So close to budget mobile GameCube emulation!
I've been messing around it and got a few game cube and PS2 games running full speed using EU and NTSC games.
Right now they are doing trade ins and 20% off so I'm getting this for $16. Can't wait!

Excellent Review, I bought this tablet but not plus version, I have a fire HD 8 since 2017 and works well, and the apps is no problem for me.
I have spare devices, and they can lag and buffer once in a while, due to the wifi router network. My mobile hotspot has 35g, of high speed than it goes (without say), to a lower speed, until next monthly period.
Tip is to use the silk browser or devices internet browser. Make sure Internet is reliable.

Charging port failure being so common, the dock or wireless charging option of the Plus make it the must have version of this device. An extra gig of RAM and wireless charging is more than worth the premium.

I bought this particular tablet last month on EBay for $77 and bought a 400gb micro SanDisk a few days ago. I now have a bigger, better, faster device that will store a ton of books. And, the video quality is quite good for a budget tablet.

I have the HD 10 plus which I use it for Netflix and Prime video and have been very pleased with the quality. Unfortunately, I can’t run Viki on it since they have stopped supporting Android. Installing the PlayStore has made a big difference to its overall functionality. They keyboard is heavy for travelling around but good for indoors. The ability to add an SD card is really useful. Extremely good value for money.
Always found the 10” thick and power hungry. Never felt a premium tablet. Like the idea of the. keyboard case...but all of a sudden a cheap Chromebook starts looking like a competitor. Still very interesting, but for goodness sake ease up on the constant adverts in your videos.

You should add to your tests Zelda Ocarina of Time for the N64. That is a classic game and when talking about emulating old games, I think it would speak volumes.
Dollar for dollar + fire toolbox, these are the best android tablets out there. Especially on sale. But, this processor is essentially the same as the 2017/2019 models, and its really starting to show its age.

Felt the need to leave a comment here, I got the fire10 based on your videos and it seemed great at first, until I took a picture then tried to view it. If you try to open it up while in camera app it tells you it cant because of parental controls (they're turned off, tried turning them on and specifically oking pictures still no joy) and if you try to up it up in "files" you can't. I did a google search and I'm not the only one who's had this problem with a fire tablet but there doesn't seem to be a solution. So if you're going to get this tablet be aware you can't view photos on it.
Been using the 7th Gen till now, and it has become hopelessly slow for unknown reasons.
Amazon have used an old soc, but it's not like Mediatek haven't put out newer stuff. Something from the G series or Dimensity series would have been better. Still, I think the P60T is cheap, so they are protecting their profit margins.

A big advantage of Amazon Fire tablets is security updates from Amazon for at least 6 years, which is longer than even an iPhone. It may be an old version of Android but Amazon keep it secure.
@@williamtopping Yes Amazon keep their browser up to date. I never had a web site compatibility problem with my old 2016 Fire HD 8 which I gave to a friend this year when I replaced it with a 2020 Fire HD 8.
