    Note from a viewer: don't update to the latest FireOS if you want to have your own launcher. There may be updates to the Fire Toolbox in the future, but for now it seems to break that functionality. There is also a different tool called Fire Tools that might work well compared to the one I showed in this video: github.com/mrhaydendp/Fire-Tools

      I wonder if that is why my apps are showing up in the Fire launcher and not the Nova Launcher. I left the Fire as the default and added the Nova Launcher.
      Is there a way to get all apps to show up in both launchers?

      May I ask if Fire HD 10 2021 (non-plus) connects parsec to PC well? I plan to use a big Type-C hub to connect a keyboard, mouse, RJ45 and also power supply the Fire HD for gaming

      @@longcao19 A bit late, but I've tried a few hubs and cables and my Fire 10(2021) keeps giving me a moisture in port warning. Apparently, this is a common issue for the 10/10 plus. Best to save yourself the headache and stick with Bluetooth only.

      @@nickt4207 Thank for your response. I just got a non-plus version for $85 from a local user. I got no type C hub to try but my mouse ran smoothly with a usb OTG. Unfortunately, i can't connect my Bluetooth mouse to this device. Despite that, it's really bang for my buck. I tried running GTA Vice City (70% brightness, 50% volume) for an hour and it just cost me 10% of the battery. What a cheap tablet!

    One thing i realized is that when it comes to PS1 emulation in android is to use the stand alone emulators such as EPSXE or even duckstation, which provides way better settings and performance than the retroarch cores, the same goes for playing Saturn games, better go with a standalone emulator

    I just got my wife (she's a gamer) this tablet for Christmas and watching this video has me sold that it's definitely the best bang for the buck. I would absolutely LOVE to see you do a similar video using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite as it's one of the best selling Android tablets available right now (plus I recently purchased one for my birthday). I would love to see how well these emulators run on the Galaxy Tab S6 lite, awesome video man! Keep up the good work ✌️

      I have the Tab S6 Lite andI'm running LAunchbox with RetroArch. I just got into retro gaming, but so far, the tablet has handled all the Arcade games I've tried it with. Next up, I'm going to put a few Atari Lynx and PSP games on it and see how it handles those.

    • @CARLGULA
      @CARLGULA 2 года назад +2

      @@richardhailey5197 that's so awesome! I also have the Galaxy tab S6 lite tablet & this thing is pretty damn powerful. I've also been enjoying emulation on my Galaxy tab S6 lite, so far AetherSX2 has performed surprisingly well (it's said it doesn't run as good on the Mali GPU found in the exynos processor) I've been able to play some decent PS2 games. The other emulation I've played with has been citra the 3DS emulator and I freaking love it. I've been able to play Pokemon Sun and Moon, Mario Kart 7 and super Mario 3D land with zero performance issues. I highly recommend the tablet for those who want good performance at a decent price. (I can't justify $700 for a tablet that uses the same mobile phone processor as phones when you can get a legit gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU for less than $700). The Galaxy tab S6 lite is the BEST tablet I've ever owned. It's powerful, extremely smooth, has 4GB of RAM and it runs Android 12 which has a number of tablet specific upgrades to the core Android OS
      As far as the Amazon Fire HD 10 plus goes, this tablet has blown me away. It's by far the most powerful Amazon Fire tablet ever made. It has 4GB of RAM which is part of why it's so fast plus it uses a Mediatek Helio P60T which is a Big/Little Octa-core processor with a CPU consisting of 4 cortex-A73 (big) cores clocked at 2Ghz & 4 cortex-A53 (little) cores clocked at 2Ghz with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked at 800MHz. This translates to incredibly good day to day performance. Web browsing, RUclips & multiple apps open at once doesn't slowdown the HD 10 plus. I installed the Google Play Store which makes this tablet SO much better, giving you access to millions of apps that aren't available in the Amazon App Market. This tablet can run the new Apex Legends Mobile game at 30fps with very little stutter. It also handles COD Mobile with zero issues whatsoever. I highly recommend doing a quick Google search on how to install the Play Store on the Fire HD 10 plus as it truly becomes one of the best tablets available for the price. It has a decent processor, 4GB of RAM, can access the Play Store with just a few steps and won't break the bank. Happy gaming ✌️

    Have you covered using an Android tablet/phone as a pseudo-Switch before? I recently just turned my old Samsung S9 into a dedicated retro/streaming handheld and have been loving it. Even better, a simple USB C to HDMI dongle has allowed me to play games on my TV as if I were using a Nintendo Switch (which has coincidentally gotten used less this past month as I've dove into games that aren't available on it like Earthbound, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Persona 4 Golden [via Steam Link] and Final Fantasy IV's PSP release) :)

    Bought the refurbished Fire HD 10.1 regular or 2021edition due to how impressed I was with the older Fire Tab 8. This FireHD 10.1 is worth all that. Out performing my LenovaM8 , Samsung Tab E and a few others off more money by half. I'm running the media stream 12 hours a day past week since buying for 74$ and so far no issues. The best test to test a tablet s worth is to go far away from wi fi like I have and run every tablet to see how much it will lag or studder. The other Tablets studder every 20 minutes and lose signal every 8 minutes while the FireHD10.1 2021 model is not even stuttering and yet to lose signal since using far away from wi fi module, and this is refurbished but it's like brand new condition and the ADs only on wake up screen but not annoying , rather cool to see the resolution of ads as it is true HD 1080p which not too many small screen devices use , even TV s of 32inch and lower. Tablet should be Best Buy Tablet of the year.

    For GC use the custom Dolphin MMJR.

    • @krathoon2338
      @krathoon2338 2 года назад

      Yeah. I bet the standalone Duckstation works really well on this. It is supposed to work well on lower ended hardware and this is hardly low end. If N64 runs great, the PlayStation emulators should run great. It sounds like there is hardware acceleration considering the android games run so well.
      Unfortunately, there is no HDMI out on this tablet. There does seem to be a way to mirror the display onto a TV through streaming. Amazon does not support it for some reason.
      I hope it does not have significant lag. It is really irritating that they did that. This could have been a great alternative to the Raspberry Pi.

    Word of warning, I've repaired lots of older fire tables. They wouldn't last a year, mainly due to the charger ports being extremely weak. I would replace a lot of the charging ports which require micro soldering. Now I've only done the older fires with micro USB, so the new USB C ones might be better but I'm not sure. Just a warning if they randomly won't turn on or stop charging.

I have to admit, I don't use mine much for gaming so haven't pushed it hard enough to encounter the overheating but it sounds like a worry. As you say, the CPU is unbalanced versus the GPU, and I really think it needed more RAM. I've found most Android tablets (had an ASUS Transformer before this) to be very laggy and requiring regular factory resets. I always put this down to bloatware and a lack of tablet hardware optimisation, but maybe newer Android versions/hardware are better. My son's 2019 Fire tablet runs butter smooth by comparison

      @Timon: I don't know.... a lot this may just be down to rough handling from users and their kids.....
      I've had a Fire 10 HD for the past 3 years at least and it's still perfectly fine with charging (it's always been painfully slow though!!), and works as it should..... I hardly use it now; just keep it charged-up, as I prefer my iPad Pro 11" for general use when I'm not using my MacBook Air (2015).
      The Fire tablets seem pretty robust and well built, and I'd guess that breakages are from people jamming the micro-USB connector in upside down, and maybe their kids doing likewise... USB-C on these newer versions will remove a lot of these dumb user issues...!! You can't make everything idiot-proof, but USB-C may help... ;-)

    I had been using Parsec for over 2 years now to play games with friends but never came up with using it to stream my screen onto a different device of mine. It really works great but the tablet gets a little warm overtime. I hope that's normal and that I can still use it for a good while then

    I've used the Kindle Fire Tablet 7 (2019) for almost 2 years. It plays all the games up until Dreamcast with little hiccups. Unfortunately, the issue is carrying and extra controller and the tablet. Also trying to play games using the touch screen as a controller. Too much. I bought an RG351P last month and never touched my tablet since.
    Conclusion, better to have a device, with both a screen and controller in 1 for portability. Love my kindle, but without a controller than the games won't be as enjoyable (except maybe RPG's).

    I think if you need a tablet for other reasons and you happen to have a controller, the this is a great solution for portable gaming. Unless, of course, you gave other portable consoles. But with prices on some of the portable retro consoles out there that are less than 50, it's hard to say that carrying around a tablet and a controller and awkwardly placing both to play games is really ideal in any shape or fashion. Good to know that this option exists though.

What's wild is my iPad Mini 4 destroys this across the board and because I got it used (3.5 years ago now) I didn't pay much more than this thing cost new. I really wish Apple would allow emulation because their chipsets are amazing.

    I think it needs to be at Fire HD 12 to be able to be perfect for the games that won't work great unless they are lowered. I find it great that N64 and Dreamcast wotk great but i think you lowered the resolution if I remember correctly. People like me need plug and play with everything automatically knowing how to naturally run at the correct speed and resolution which should be at 1080p. 720p is even great. If the next version can do all of that and play pc android games without needing internet then I would buy it. Can you do me a favor and see if Haunt the house terrortown works on this or tell me what handheld will play it perfectly. I don't know how to do any of this and have no computer. I just need someone to set it all up for me and fully test it and then sell me it. Nothing complicated.
