Thanks for the RetroArch tutorial. I'm impressed with the fact I can game on this little stick since I'm waiting for it's arrival in my mailbox. Gaming isn't the priority for me but nice to have some classic games to play on it. My kids probably also would like it. 👍
Hey Russ, when you are shooting a non moving subject, you can just use manual focus next time. Believe me it is much more convenient than auto focus, which is always struggling much on low light situations, regardless how advance and expensive your camera is.
Great video. Saw one on sale so I had to get it, and it runs great. I'd also note that it can emulate some less demanding systems with visual enhancements too. Every PS1 game I tried ran at full speed even using the PSX ReARMed core's enhanced resolution setting, which doubles the resolution. For 16-bit systems you can use some of RetroArch's built-in upscaling shaders for similar results. The 4xScaleHQ shader works great for every genesis/SNES/GBA game I tried; no perceptible lag and it makes them look way sharper and less pixelated. Seriously, Sonic 3 and Super Mario All Stars would never look this good on a big screen with original hardware. Seriously impressive for $40.
Thank you very much for this review and the time you took to put this all together. I also thought this MAX device is really well priced for the power it holds. I have been using it for other projects and didnt think of running games on it, but man im pleasantly surprised. You showed a lot of games that i loved playing back in the days and cant wait to get this hooked up. I like the retro touch of that remote too.
Yeah man for sure. I'm not trying to create a whole Creator vs. Creator debate. But this channel really deserves to get a lot more pre-production units of various devices such as certain "other channels" do all the time. But I guess you have to very careful about making a device only look good instead of talking about it's flaws as well. Or you get left out.
Dude, give the same treatment to the Xiaomi TV Stick. Many ppl got it and the only one that has touched on the emu side is ETA prime, but he rly brushed it off. Many things apply from this video to that too, still it'll be nice to see it. Liked you being thorough on this one -as always-, keep it up !
Holy crap! I just removed myself from a Raspberry Pi waitlist because of this video! Might at well call this video “how to make a retro console with crap you have laying around the house” Super awesome!
I stumbled across your channel and saw your title of playing retro games. Great video I miss playing old retro games. I’m using my Fire TV Cube 2nd Gen as a WiFi streamer will this work on my device with your recommended OTG splitter?
Hey Russ, thanks as always for showing off what can be done with these things! A tip- if you're using your camera (er, *camera camera*, not the iphone) to record, put it in manual focus, use focus peaking & magnification to dial it in for static shots like of your monitor here.
I tried to setup retroarch but struggled to find a good tutorial. Yours has probably been the best I've come across. I have been using a PSP emulator on my 4K firestick for about two years and it works okay on the most but serious slowdown and sound problems on a few of the larger games. Silent Hill is definitely a no no.
Just want to thank you for this video, I’ve installed retroarch and other emus on the fire stick before but never took the time to actually tweak and optimize them like you showed.
Great video. Wish I'd seen it before I set mine up. Retroarch was driving me nuts for a while. But I figured it out eventually. Btw for anyone who doesn't have the 4k max I can confirm that performance is pretty decent using the way cheaper lite. I have Dreamcast running mostly perfect. Only the winCE based games have issues
Great tutorial, It covers everything you need to know to run Retroarch and configure it in a sensible way, and I will recommend this video to every person that may want to use it. I was amazed too at the fact that a streaming device can run retro games so well. Thanx also for the suggested emulators list. On the Fire TV Cube 2nd gen I can say that the Flycast Core with native resolution works great too (it struggles only with Naomi 2 games, and that's understandable).
Thank you for showing dreamcast it's why I watched is their any other games you've loaded by chance. literally every game I've played on that system is gold
So basically, another alternative to the usual cheap tv box setups. It would be interesting to see a Fire TV Cube vs Nvidia Shield comparison, since the cube is supposed to be way more powerful than any of the Fire TV Sticks.
Pi 4 (especially 8gb model) is more powerful and if you're just in it for retro gaming retropie is a decent front end experience, but the 4k stick is a much smoother overall tv box experience
@@moshadj WRONG ruclips.net/video/ptHlujyzx0o/видео.html clearly shows the Pi4 struggles with dreamcast and PSP unplayable. Even some N64 games struggle on the Pi4.

I can say that the pi 4 can run dreamcast rather well but like with psp on this 4k max you have to frame skip some games such as f355 challenge, i'd say both the pi 4 and this stick are very close and you'll have a good time with either you prefer to go with.
Is there any chance you could try Guardian Heroes as part of your Saturn test line up. I've been looking for a decent emulator for that and I was curious to see how the Fire Stick handled it.

Hi Russ, I am new to all this and saw this video and I bought all the products you recommended. The Fire Stick allows for up to seven bluetooth devices to be connected at once. So as long as the emulator supports it, yes you could play with four controllers.

That music at the star reminded me of a game from my childhood called flimbos quest
This is truly an excellent tutorial. Well done.
I've done the same with an amazon fire 8 HD tablet I got for £35 a few months back. It's madness that dreamcast runs better on it than saturn does
Do you sell these all ready set up ?!
Where would one buy the controller?! Please and thx! Great video.
Wow super useful. I always like doing things on the cheap. Seems like it's also very reliable
Just bought one bc of this video. 24.99 on amazon right now🥳🥳
Great video! Thanks. Is it a must that a flash drive is used or can I use a usb card reader with a sd card?
I never expected something under $75 to play DREAMCAST, N64, SEGA SATURN!? This is too good to be true
just can't get this to work I've had roms and all that since forever just can't seem to get the whole bios thing working correctly
can't load up the games 😭
