I've been watching your content for a while now and have decided to deem you The Retro Game God! Other content uploaders need to learn from you! You obviously care about the people watching your videos. Keep on making this upper level content. Your passion is palpable. And trust me we can tell.
I just ordered the Games G3s and with your awesome tutorials I will be Retro Gaming on my Fire Stick by the weekend. Thanks ETA Prime!!! You are hands-down the best and easiest to understand among the emulation/tech Guru on RUclips and I hope you keep creating great content far into the future.
I have 2 of the gamesir g3s controllers, one green and one orange, I use them.more than any other controller I own and I literally have around 20-30 controllers ranging from Xbox ps4 8bitdo wired and wireless.
I have an older G3s controller (from 2016)... on my RPi3 it constantly looses sync on the USB and won't connect via bluetooth. Have you ever had that experience on the firestick or your RPi3?
Ive done this awhile back but i sideloaded individual system apks. Never even tried retroarch. Also i did this not knowing it can be done. ETA, you da man!
I like the older stuff anyway, so I'm totally doing this! Looks like even an 8GB flash drive will store a WHOLE lot of retro awesome. Woo hoo! Adapters ordered Thanks man!
Thanks for making videos that are easy to follow by being extremely informative while clear and to the point. You really are among the very best that do this.
I really appreciate how much detailed and easy video you've made. My Firestick is an year old (not a 4k one), hope it plays some games without issues. Thanks!
Do you need to keep the usb stick plugged in to play games, or when you scan the directory, are these being transferred over to the firestick? I would rather keep me usb permanently plugged in as that has more memory for games
I use Dig frontend and the robert broglia emulators on my FireTV. Seems to work pretty well. Even got N64 half assed playable with Mupen64 FZ. Oh and PS1 games run like a dream.
I appreciate this video but I just realized a Kodi build I came across xenon build supports these games with the same emulators you use here and the games I couldn't load was due to using a standard firestick but I do believe the fire TV cube box will let you run pcsx emulators and runs playstation games etc
Hello, I'm trying to use generic joysticks (wired) but the buttons on the right send me to Amazon shortcuts that I don't know how to disable. Any idea what I can do?
I've been playing n64 on my 4k firestick all day. I believe you said it wouldnt work? Im totally upscaled and playing every game great. Mario kart, all the wrestling games, tony hawk games, waverace, excitebike, tetris64, etc
thank you so much, I was about to give up on configuration for the firestick. Nothing logical was working, so of course it had to be simple like using 2005 snes9x.
Using Lakka on the 3b plus after your tutorial. Thank you very much. I really like it. I find it easier to use save states and like the pre configured controllers compared to retropie. I couldnt use save states in retropie
I really believe that Snes9x 2005 plus works the best with the least controller lag. If you could use run-ahead feature it would take care of any input latency, but if you try to use it one the Firestick you will quickly see that any game becomes unplayable.
This is one of the best tutorials I've seen. The only bad thing is that my ps4 controller doesn't work with the firetv 4k, i can pair it every single time, but none of the buttons work.
How do you get your Retro Arch to have easy to navigate menu's? Mines is a confusing mess with a white screen with black text on it. I have to scroll down or up to navigate. Even finding my game list is a chore.
Not sure what anyone else's mileage is, but I did get this with the squid cable and SanDisk USB drive. It actually works great, but... it appears when using the cable + USB stick the power requirement is slightly increased so that I will get occasional reboots, even after just watching a video and not even using Retroarch. I did some testing and found that I didn't get any reboots when I plugged the power directly into the Fire Stick (didn't use Retroarch though since games are on the USB stick, just watched some videos and whatnot). Also, when using my 2A phone brick with the squid cable I also didn't get an reboots. Both were short tests so not entirely conclusive, but I know older Fire Sticks at least had reboot issues with original power brick (not even using a USB drive / passthrough) and using a 2A one fixed it, and so it looks to be the case here as well. Also, does Atari 5200 work for anyone? Using it just causes Retroarch to exit for me.
Let me first start off by saying that this is an amazing tutorial, thank you for the time and labor you put into this. I do have a road block that I've hit, when I get to the point of scanning the drive, my USB drive is not showing up what so ever. This is odd because I managed to successfully side load RetroArch from the same USB, but in the actual application no dice. Any thoughts? I do notice that you are using 1.7.3, I'm currently using 1.7.5 as it was listed on their website as the most recent and stable build. Any suggestions? -TKK
Great stuff, If I have the roms/games saved on a USB thumb drive connected to the fire tv stick, will they copy over to the retro arch app when I load them or will I need the drive connected to the fire tv every time I want to play?
ES Explorer is now offering a premium service that is required to install apps through ES Explorer. Currently (12-29-2020) you can install (for free) through Downloader after downloading that way or X-Plore File Manager via usb otg. The developer options have also changed so that you allow individual apps to install unknown apps.
I play Nintendo 64 flawlessly on my fire stick I'm almost done with Mario 64 plays great with a PS4 controller the it does work on the fire stick with retroacrh
I remember when I first found out about emulators back in 2006/07 during my freshman year of highschool. Rip to Emuparadise which stopped letting us download game roms some years ago, the first place I use to download them from. I was stuck at both the public and school libraries playing games I had on a portable flash drive for as long as I could . Lolz...
So when i go to usb otg it is not finding the games/zip files. Any suggestion? I have the usb plugged into the spare isb port on the tv. Maube ot has to be plugged into the fire stick using the squid?
Why am I getting a Qr scan code when hitting download for the game ? When taking picture of the code. It takes me to the page that not found ? I’m using a fire stick 4K

I've been able to get the thumbnails for nes, mega drive and gameboy but won't work for snes. I've tried several times. Is there something else I can try to get it to work?

I followed all beginning steps were we get to the Amazon stick. He never mentions to plug it in any time.
