A real shame that it's Micro USB.
I was 100 percent sure they would have used C by now
And no Micro SD card slot either out of the box such a simple addition 16gb isn't a lot. (I know you can get USB expandable storage which I have but you shouldn't have to spend an extra $20-30 dollars on a USB stick and connector)
That's what my ex said before she left
Why? You only need to plug it in once, maybe a handful of times. Is there any tangible benefit usb-c gives?
It’s 2023 even apple is USB-C.
I was so waiting for this video thanks Prime!!
Micro USB and 2GB RAM in 2023... wtf Amazon?
At least we have an input :c
They should be ashamed of themselves
Using micro USB in 2023
I was hoping for at least 4GB of ram. And yeah, micro USB in 2023 is really odd.
It’s cheap
@@RusticRonnie I'd argue the price is miniscule to the point where there's no reason to anymore, not to mention I bet it's right about the point in time where it would be *more* expensive to use something as outdated as Micro. Even weed sticks are on USB-C by this point. Hell, they have Wi-fi6E of all things, so it's silly to use the latest tech for one thing but be stuck in 2013 for the other.
@@Festivus_Miraclenah when the prive is that cheap don't expect 4 gigs of ram, it is enough for what it does not gaming, watching 4k videos, most people wouldn't want a prive hike so randos with too much free time can play emulated games.
@@RusticRonnieIt has zero to do with it being cheap. It has to do with most products still come with micro USB. That is why y'all are constantly saying things like 'oh it doesn't have USB-C'. Not to mention around 90% of older products still in use so in fact use micro USB. Hate to tell you, but micr USB is far more available than USB-C. So that is why they still use USB, because they figure there is a much better chance of their customers having accessories that use micro USB. I own a lot of electronics, and literally just have 4 devices with USB-C. One is a phone, one is an XBOX controller, one is a MURS radio and the other is a HAM radio. Most new products I buy come with micro USB. Not sure why you goofs keep whining about a USB connection. I have zero doubts that more of your electronic devices use micro USB than USB-C. It is just like any other product, it takes years to fully switch over to the new standard. For example, VHS was still being used years after DVDs were available. I remember well into the 2000s video video stores still rented out mostly VHS tapes. Why would they do that? Well because they knew most of their customers still used VCRs. It is 2023 and you can still buy new VHS movies at Walmart. It will be no different with micro USB, years from now there will still be a small number of products using it. Just be happy it is not something like firewire. For a few years all the MiniDV camcorders came with firewire, and firewire was how you would get your videos from your camcorder to your computer. Very few computers even had firewire. Still today people use MiniDV camcorders and tapes, and the number one problem is they can never find a computer with firewire ports. MiniDV came out in the 90s, and is actually still very popular today, and it is still a pain to deal with because firewire never really caught on. You can still get MiniDV VCRs, but they are expensive, and is the easiest way to view and edit your MiniDV tapes because of the whole firewire nonsense. So just be happy you ain't dealing with a connection like firewire.
@@chrisgullett4332 what a load of bs
Its insane to see powervr still around after all these years. I'm wondering how many hands they've been passed around since the old'n'days
Thank you for saving me $$ I was on the fence but have 2 original Max. Was wondering about emulation.
Oh man, seeing twisted metal 3 brings memories of me playing with friends
Nearly all the content I watch is in 1080p and below and the only thing that I care about from these devices is how well they handle upscaling.
They have had so much time to close the gap between the fire stick and the Nvidia Shield. In late 2023, It would have been nice to see this be at least 80% as powerful as the shield at its $60 price point. That would have a nice sweet spot.
I have both. Just got the new Shield yesterday. My main ? is what is the point of either? Can't watch live news, golf, fishing shows. I have had 4 boxes and their downfall is the buffering and dropped channels. But once paid for no more monthly fees like on the stick and shield.🤔
I would agree that the 16gb storage for apps is the main draw here. Nothing else seems overly snazzy
64gb and 128gb micro SD cards are so cheap now why didn't Amazon just implement them it's strange
@@yatesy117 Because most people just buy these to stream videos on their non smart tv. Although at this point you would think everyone would have a smart tv considering almost all tvs have it built in now.
@@TylerMBuller12if a 10 year old tv still works, why replace it? Not everyone is a mindless consumer 😂
@@TylerMBuller12 Most smart Tvs are trash. Unless you buy some top tier Sony Bravia tv, all the other products have trash support, trash HW.
@@riot9179honestly kinda true. I bought a $650 55 inch pretty amazing 4k tv less than a year ago and it’s close to as good as a $30 Google stick on sale in terms of speed. What is nice is controlling it from my phone is really easy casting works well and it’s fairly fast. Plus being built in it works more smoothly than my Xbox or a Roku or Google stick. I personally wouldn’t ever get a fire stick the interface is trash and it’s not any cheaper or better really at least imho and use case.
Although it runs Google or android tv and a good version of that most don’t. It’s the Hisense u8h if you’re curious.
Will Dreamcast and Saturn gameplay be included in a future video?
Does it do HDR to SDR tonemapping correctly with Kodi? The 1st gen 4K MAX did not.
hi can you get your hands on the minisforum materbord 790i because i think it would be a big upgrade from the minisforum hx77g and i think i will have to wait a while for it to come out so if you can get your hands on one that would be great thanks for all you do
They could of added 4gb RAM USB C and one usb A... I don't understand why these companies won't listen to customers.. Its a $30 device not $60.
Do you recommend this or Google Chromecast with Google tv hd snow? They're the same price.
I am also interested in whole android screen mirroring, not the normal cast option.
What would be better this new fire stick or the Google Chromecast with Google TV? Can either of these load video on different sites on a web browser (since I don't want to have multiple subscriptions to certain services)
Can retroarch be loaded on USB? Have the original max and was considering the upgrade for the extra storage. Have never been able to get retroarch and kodi and all my other apps to fit and have never been able to get the apps to work from the USB i added.
Where did you get your version of Mupen64plus FZ...Can't find a compatible version anywhere for Firestick 😢
Which gaming pad do you own
Would you recommend one of these vs the older Nvidia shield tv pro? I'm on the fence of buying one for my TV lighting setup for 4k playback
This will have newest codec support, but need tinkering to access gps
Is it running 64-bit or 32-bit android?
some apps are missing icon image like youtube revanced and iptv smarters pro
damn ETA slow down let me catch up lol
I tried to set up Retroarch on my Fire Stick but Retroarch is not seeing my external USB with the ROMS. Any tips?
Well i am using a firestick lite and i am thinking of upgrading to the max just for the emulation aspect
Can you sideload apps?
I've had many issues with this New 4k max 16gb, many apps that I would use on the 1st gen 4k max are not loading up, when I use File Explorer or any File Manager it needs you to GRANT ACCESS to the storage device, normally I would use MOUSE TOGGLE but the recent 4k version is not supported by the NEW 2nd Gen 4kMAX so I hit a wall. I cant move files around like before with this new 4k max, so I cant emulate or even install old games like GTA SA to my new 4k , just seems theres lots of bugs that need to be fixed up so far, another BIG setback is the PS4 controller new or old will not work with the New 2nd Gen 4kmax it connects but wont function, my cheap pro controller for Nswitch works like a charm
Wait till black Friday sale 😎
Can it run the xbox game pass or the nvidia one?
As non 4K MAX user, the suffering is real with lag, app storage and emulation.
Which one do you have?
Hola bro este será compatible con ntfs? Movie de más de 4gb?
If not gaming, whats the use case for this? Grandma with an old TV?
My Fire TV 4K 2nd Gen did die a couple of months ago. Probably gonna wait for prime day to see if they have these for a bit on sale.
Sadly wasn't on sale, I waited also
Does it have Dev mode though?
They have a 2nd Gen 4K Max already?
A new Fire TV!? Did they figure out how to put more ads in it?
Make video on how to use the micro sd
Tutorial how to make a game stick to plug in my tv please
The double storage is really nice and long overdue! Hopefully the next one can have 4GB ram with USB-C
It would be nice if there was a good front end and USB controller support
I don't know if I would want to risk pulling down my TV with a USB controller haha
@@TacticalPower88I use my controller via USB on my 60' Samsung TV to play Steam Link and it works fine
my guy, you a fan of YS series?
Did Amazon recently break emulation on Firesticks? I just bought the 2023 4K Max, and whenever I go to add a directory in an emulator, the file system is locked down and inaccessible?
This is the way to go on beefing up your TV. I disabled the default smart TV hub of my 77" LG C2 TV and just made the Amazon 4K Max Firestick as my default smart hub. 👍
😩😭 no the c2 is much powerful then the fire stick… you can side load or default your Lg tv to developer mode and side load or download retro arch and other apps straight to your tv…
The C2 can run Ps1, N64, Nds, Possibly GameCube using older dolphin builds, and skyline.
I have a c2 tv I also have an Amazon fire tv 4k 55’ inch latest generation.
I can play psp, ps1, n64 pretty fine. Able to side load dolphin haven’t tried any games yet and also sideloaded skyline… 😅
should i upgrade from the firestick pendant to this new firestick??
I previously used the pendent for about 5 years. I have recently upgraded to the 1st gen 4k model and it is a significant improved despite already being slightly outdated itself.
If you can get this version, it should be a bit better.
are these mobile games or cloud games?
And still no DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD passthrough. I checked the developer documentation of this device.
Hoping it can game since fire sticks have never been able to stream video.
(Hulu Live)
Anything out there yet that even touches the Nvidia Shield?
Why no Launchbox for android on these?
It just goes to show hoe cheap a device can be to adopt HDR10+ and Dolbyvision, which begs the question of why so many other cheaper and even medium range devices cannot offer the same facilities. It seems very cheap to licence.
No specific mention of AV1 decoding, although other reviews seem to indicate that it does exist with this new model.
Amazon is a behemoth of a company they can afford to license whatever. That can't be said for less successful companies.
if i understood correctly the xbox controller end of next year will also send the signal directly to the cloud :)
Can they please remove those branded buttons or make them programmable?
you can reprogram them with third party software
Well crap, I feel silly* for just buying the OG one last prime day for $25. I only play Luna games off it (rarely) and have been pretty happy with it. If I paid full price I’d be disappointed/paid for the silly Luna controller. I hope this one works with the ps4 controller as well.
* like a genius now that I’ve watched the full review!
I had no luck with the new one connecting to PS 4 controller, it wont function properly, the cheaper pro controller from amazon works well though
I literally just bought the firestick 4k max 😢
ETA prime
Can this stream the internet to my TV
I used to use Google Chrome and then it's like it just stopped working. You can't look at the internet on your TV anymore
Is this any better then nvidea shield.??
They really should just make these stuff better. More cpu and gpu power. For the games.
No, maybe 30% close enough. So not even close and it’s new 2023
No, but it's also a lot cheaper.
@@ryuuseiSoul still 4k.
Does it have Google play store.
Brasil Rio de janeiro 🇧🇷😉👍
Why is screen yellowish?
I purchased a fire stick 4K max this month but I am unable to use any game controller on this …
I purchased a OTG cable to connect game pad dongle but that is not connecting …
Pls suggest if I am doing anything wrong here or the latest 4K max does not support that ..
Also suggest what should I use for game controller
Update : I would like to conclude the problem …latest Amazon fire stick no longer support the external usb dongle for game controller and also does not support external hard drive …instead go for inbuilt Bluetooth game controller like Cosmic byte stratos xenon which works perfectly fine…
I think there's all sorts of issues so far and that's to do with the Fire OS 8 operating system. Hopefully it will get sorted out
Work Xbox Gamepass?
Xcloud?
Would Zwift run on it?
This or the Google Chromecast 4K?
And unless you really need it, never pay full retail for an Amazon device, they always go on sale.
We need lord of the rings tactics
After moving from my fire stick 4k to Apple TV i just can’t go back to fire devices
2023 and we still have only 2GB of ram and micro USB what a joke Amazon
It's still bit od less ram and micro USB 🫠
sill not usb c .... ok the i wait for the next fire tv stick
Can i run ps2 games?
Android TV Boxes are no longer the hot items they once were, and with Amazon's insistence of always limiting the specs/features of their Fire TV devices, I'd just get a decent mini PC and connect it to the TV. You'd have decent specs depending on the device, you can get them from a variety of brands and prices, and you'd have another computer/gaming machine if need be. I think I'm about done investing in Amazon devices, but that's just me.🤷🏿♂️
Mini PC way better than firestick or Android tv box. It’s 4k and has more storage etc.
Using what front end?
Usability and convenience is trash with a htpc unfortunately unless your just torrenting or otherwise.
@@BuzzingGoober I'll agree with that to a certain extent. Windows doesn't have very many premium streaming apps like what's available on an Android or IOS Operating system and you're stuck using browsers, Kodi, or other pirating apps for streaming. Still the functionality of a PC is much, much greater than just a Fire Stick or Android Box.
@@PhantomGhost25 I agree with yall that PC has much more capabilities, while AndroidTV/firestick has a more useable interface. My solution for that is Moonlight/Sunshine streaming, which brings the full capabilities of your own PC to these devices when needed (and so much less latency than Parsec/Steam Link/ any cloud gaming alternative). I use it not only for games, but also for adless video playback.
Whatever the solution (moonlight and/or PC directly on TV), I strongly advice one of the remotes with an ''air mouse'' (uses gyro to point) function, it's insane how well they work from the couch.
2gb RAM in 2023......cmon 🙄
Bro it is a cheap fire stick not meant for gaminf
@@oo--7714I don't use it for gaming but added RAM at least 4gb at a minimum which would help streaming I'd of expected not 0.5gb upgrade that's disappointing
Ahhhh why does it still have micro usb?!
CHEEEEEAP that's gotta be why
Yeah pretty stupid given Apple have been 'made' to go USB C
@@doozeruk2000the eu wants usb c as a standard across the board I think they could come after Amazon like they did Apple for this tbh
@@Shishakhalifa yep, to be fair I think this is one thing the EU have actually got right. I don't care for Apple anyway but a standardised connection can only be a good thing. How bout if we had many different variations of HDMI sockets for different TV manufacturers, it's no different to what Amazon and Apple are pulling here
Big hell no because of that micro usb and 2gb of ram
Only 2 GB of RAM? That is super disappointing. Can live with micro USB but RAM is very limiting
not buying because of micro usb
2023: android games on a TV
2033: retro ps5 emulation on a microSD card
😅🎉🎉🤔
Micro usb... 🤣Should have type-c & 64GB for that price... the next version will probably be the one
Literally makes no sense why an old USB, may even cost more to get an old one. They want to restrict the public from something
It costs less in terms of PCB design - micro-usb requires 5 pins be connected to the board, usb-c requires at least 10 due to how they handle rotating it. Plus they probably have a container full of the stuff, so they keep using it on devices that it doesn't matter for, since you only plug it in once.
Brother can you please give me a mini pc please
Tf
16 gb of storage is 2023 is so penny pinching. Still using 2gb of ram?? Micro USB too?? Who is running their developement departments? Geez amazon can you be any cheaper. Nickel and dime all the time.
Meh, i went with Apple TV , much more premium experience
No USBC in 2023 is a completely joke. I stopped watching as soon as i heard. No point in making this micro besides creating more e waste. What a dissappint, a world where apple phones have USB-C and yet amazon cant add the port to one of their most popular devices. Disappointing, but totally not unexpected, its Amazon.
I am utterly disgusted at how Temu takes over your space in everything google. I want to remove Temu from advertising in my phone. I can't get anything done without it's interference.
trash nvidia shield guys screw the firestick no way. using usb storage with the firestick is extremely slowed don't know why but no bueno. 16gb is a joke lol
1st!
Nope
2nd
First here.
junk
I also got a Firestick inside my pants
