Hey Adam I got the firestick 4K max a few days ago and so far it's been a bit glitchy! The only positive thing about it is that it has twice the storage. Maybe they need to workout the glitches and then it will run better? So far I'm not real impressed!! Thanks for what you do and always giving us a chuckle we all need more of that!!!

I’ve got a brand new boxed Firestick 4K Max which I bought a couple of months ago in the sale to replace my Firestick 4K which I’ve yet to set up, and from what I’ve seen there’s not a lot extra to persuade me to ditch that for the latest version.
Fire devices are currently the only device in the UK that has full certification for all uk domestic tv and major streaming apps and allows side loading that I have found. Anyone know of any alternatives.

I wanted to do all that add-ons with adding my 4tb HDD and what not. But I saw at raspberry Pi solution and it seems far more sensible than hanging all those items on that sticker. Also the 32 but limitations are real blocker -2tb max fat 32 only and max file of 2gb iirc. I yave moved as large as 35 GB. My firestick 4k is arriving tomorrow
I had no issues with the new 4K firestick, I traded in my older firestick that had a broken remote back to Amazon and setup the new one with the same app’s I like to side download movie app’s and the new firestick has lots more memory. Can only say if you can get a deal then go for this new one.
If I have my onvif camera app on my firestick and it has the Picture in Picture feature could I watch say a movie and have the pip feature in the corner with my onvif display whilst watching a movie?

Bought the Gen2 for Prime on the main TV and to move the Gen1 to the bedroom but the fact that “Best Available” now outputs decoded PCM (Gen1 outputs Bitstream) and it also restricts my AVR’s sound modes means it’s going in the bedroom and the living room is getting the Gen1 back. If I didn’t need a second Firestick the Gen2 would be going back.

Also, I was looking forward to the ambulance experience until someone from the states said the following: Don't get too excited it times out and the fire stick goes to sleep after 14 minutes. I was expecting it to be able to stay on. Even when I'm playing music it just goes black after 14 min and there's no way to turn off sleep. I just got off with customer service and they said it's meant to... what's even the point. Maybe that’s changed in updates over the last couple of weeks I don’t know. Good video mate. It would be a real help if you could make a video about upgrading from my old 4k to new 4k max. How do we get our details onto new one. Do you have to change everything from old firestick to new come on amazon play the game. What do you do first chicken or egg ? Do i have to factory reset to default, and start again, big job confusing
When you bought your new firestick an option to register it to your account was available allowing your new stick to have all account info attached, this is also for your apps as well.
@@BM2525. Then it won't get super resolution. Amazon said they would put super resolution on 2nd Gen cube and that didn't happen. It's definitely not worth it then I've seen people say the new one is slower than the older one and has issues they haven't fixed yet
I'm thinking about getting some form of Firestick... Just not sure if it will do what I need. I have WDTV Media Player that I've had for almost 20 years now. It does most of what I need, but only at 1080p. It is limited to only 2 external hard drives that are each limited to 2TB's. I used to be able to transfer files direct from my computer, over the network to the WDTV Media Player, but a few years ago, my Cable provider upgraded my internet and it disappeared, never to be found again. I WAS thinking of one of the Android TV boxes, but have learned that most of them are full of spyware right from the factory, (thanks Linus!). WD no longer makes Media Players, so what are my options?

The microUSB is a deal breaker for me, and the reason why I returned it. I use it to stream content from my home server and also to stream games from my PC which is at my bedroom to my TV in the living room. Specially for the second application, I need to use ethernet cable and although there are adaptors for it, the microUSB is not as fast as USB-C, so I had always issues with connectivity via ethernet.
I commented on your last video and stick by my view, that is , everyone who wants a firestick has one so in that case the market is now stagnant, so how doy you sell more ? Well ,try and tart up you existing product and call it new, some new software but not a full redesign of the circuit board to include USB C because that costs money. Flashier screen savers and different icons don't cut the mustard if all you want is the Arsenal game ( other teams are available) 3pmon a Saturday afternoon 😉
You forgot to mention that the latest model uses fire OS 8 which is based on android 10 & 11. So any side loaded apps based on android 10 & 11 won’t work on the previous fire tv OS 7 (which is based on android 9)
I personally will not be rushing to get one of these just add more USB memory to my old max I see next to no difference, my money will not go on the new version rather buy the whisky Cheers
I bought one after launch and Amazon sent me a replacement already. First one was sluggish with terrible internet speeds. I haven’t owned a fire device for years so can’t compare. But a HUGE problem is there is no root access which no you tubers are addressing which renders file explorer apps and a usb on a dongle useless. If you format it as internal then you can add apps to it, big whoop! I have tons of apps and no where near to using up the 16gb But, if you format it as external, there is no access to add files and well you know other things. I will be sending this useless pos back for a refund. Onward with my Shields. You may want to do a video with a dongle adapter and a usb stick and you’d probably get a million views because no one is addressing the issue.
My mom and kid love Amazon devices so I try and keep up with em but I've jumped ship to Android,Google tv 3-4 yrs ago and I'm not coming back. Too much crap with Amazon messing with third party,launchers all the time .
You not going to see much different as it's only half meg ram more on the new max version, storage wise may be double but it just means you going to install vmore crap & will just slow it down over time

Unfortunately just got the 4k max 2nd gen and it has 2 major issues. The new screensaver, whatever it's called is annoying rubbish. Second and more important, the screen cast option is removed. (Miracast was apparently removed from Android 8 and firestick OS has just passed this point.) So if you wish to use firestick as a PC monitor, that option is now gone, as is casting any content using miracast.
Hi I missed your previous comment, can I ask what issues you were having with the vpn? I have firestick 4k max and when I open my vpn app the firestick freezes and restarts all by itself!
@@andrewgibson7666 Hi Andrew, I run Kodi on my Firestick and use Trakt on it. I discovered both were not working when my VPN was connected but switch off the VPN everything was fine. I contacted my VPN provider, they are in the process of trying to find out what the issue is. But I have noticed I can’t access some shopping sites with VPN on.
I don't think I will buy the new fire stick. If the port was changed to USB C I definitely would have because I really don't like how the grips(the two bottom pieces) can easily break on the charger.

I upgraded to the 4k max 2nd generation and I like it. It has more storage memory so plenty room for apps and I find it more responsive. 👍

Can it read USB thumb drives with NTFS (over OTG cable)?
Could be that because its plugged into the tv and its not enough the stick could be running in a limited power setting 😊

It does not have super resolution. At the moment, only the 3rd gen Fire Cube has that feature.
