Loved doing this. Brilliant to spend so long in Brian's company (albeit over a video call). We thought about splitting this into a two-parter because he's got so much to say and so many stories to share, but we decided to do it all in one feature-length episode. If you can't watch it all in one go, then do enjoy it in smaller parts, because (even if I do say so myself) it's a really compelling chat covering his long love affair with the club. Brian Little walks on water and - spoiler alert - he likes walking his dog in the rain too! What an absolute legend and gentleman he is. UTV!
One of the greatest Villa players I've had the pleasure of watching. Two of our greatest players are both from Durham, Brian and Sid Cowans.

Lovely fella. Always stops for a chat when he walks through the players car park to his seat in the Trinity Road stand. Always makes me smile that dads recognise him but young lads haven't a clue as to the good times Brian's given the Villa in so many capacities. Thanks Brian 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

One of the most underrated players from that era by people outside of villa. I didn't get to see him play but lucky enough to watch his side win at Wembley, didn't think I'd be sat here in 2021 not having won anything since !

I’m a Scottish villa fan, started supporting when I was 11. 95/96 season and little holds so many great memories for me. Seems like such a lovely guy too
That's still my favourite Villa team, Draper and Taylor were bosses in midfield. People also forget how many goals Savo was involved with in clever build up play

Brilliant Mat, thank you. Many of the memories you and Brian discussed I was lucky enough to witness. Brian for me is the greatest player in my time following AV and he would walk into any top club of the current era as easy as he "walks on water". Real gentleman 💯% AV. What a legend.

What a fantastic interview. Absolutely love this man. A true Villa legend who I was privileged to see play his whole career and be a season ticket holder during his tenure as manager. I was 8 years old in the Holte End for his debut as a sub against Blackburn and also the Torquay game he mentioned. I’ve said it numerous times on Twitter that his partnership with Andy Gray still remains the best I’ve seen at Villa Park. That 76/77 season with those two and John Deehan where they scored over 70 between them also remains my favourite season even though a few years later we won the title and European Cup. Those 3 ripped holes in many sides in 76/77 and were a pure joy to watch. It still remains a footballing crime that Brian played for approximately 25 minutes for England and that was all. Loved every word and minute of this. Thank you Mat and please pass on a thank you to Brian for everything he has done for our club, as I’ve already said, a true Villa legend.

Best interview yet! Brian was my first real Villa hero, the swagger and flair he brought to the game. The fantastic partnership with Andy & Dixie. Really pleased he had success when he became manager. Should've been capped more than once (why didn't you ask him about this?) Don Revie was England manager and he came on as a sub in the home internationals against Wales with England trailing 2-0 and he set up 2 goals for David Johnson to earn a draw. I believe he couldn't play against Scotland on the Saturday as he was getting married.
Mr Brian Little is one of the main reasons I chose to support Aston Villa. Fabulously gifted and original footballer. Good manager too, and his team could of won more but thank you, Brian, so much for the great way Villa won that 1996 League Cup.

Brian is a great football man and a very decent man too. I recommend Brian's book, "Return of the Little Villan", which is a great read for any true Villa fan.

On RUclips loads of vids have been put up of Villa from the 70's. It was before my time, but Little looked like a really classy player. He's a really classy guy.
I remember his team's in the 90's and really appreciate now more than then how tactically ahead of the curve he was, and how well balanced his side was with good passers from back to front.

I've seen some players in a Villa shirt since 1969..but Brian Little was and is still a great favourite. And so underestimated..

Brians full debut for Villa against Torquay,was also my first game watching Villa .. He went on to be my favourite player
I watched every game brain played at villa park, magic. I also watched every game he managed villa. Its a long time ago now but i went to the training ground near the end of his management.
I can always remember, coming from there thinking Brain never looked to good. Just listening to him say he wasnt in a good place near the end, is the first time i heard anyone confirm my thoughts back then. When you think he left the north east at 15, yet he still has his accent to this day. God bless you brian.

I'm a younger fan, started following Villa in 2012, and this was still an incredible interview. Love learning the history of this club and this man is an absolute legend for me.

Great interview. Never understood why Brian never got another Premier League job after Villa. Really should have.
Utterly Brilliant. One of my all time faves. Hearing him talk about the 75 team which is the 1st team i can really recall as Villa fan in a family of noses brought back many memories. Have to say, best part of whole interview for me were the Deadly Doug memories. My 1st heros were Little and Gidman if i recall correctly before i went on to Andy Gray adoration.

@@matkendrick9179 Well, he generally appears to find interviews difficult whenever ive watched him, rarely seems relaxed, often appearing uncomfortable. That said, he often says how much he enjoys fans forums so you never know, maybe you can get some success. Lets hope so.🤞

In terms of adoration, Little was our ‘Grealish’ in the mid-seventies. At times a palpable hush would overcome the Holte End when he got the ball - just wondering what piece of magic he was about to produce. Some great players around him though, Graydon, Nicholl, Robson, Gidman, Hamilton - and Gray of course to name just a few. I remember jumping over the barrier from the Witton stand (I’d treated myself to a seat that day) as a 14 year old to congratulate him on scoring the second goal against Sunderland in front of 57,000 on the last home game of our promotion winning season (1975) after 8 years in the lower leagues. Most of us were on the pitch not long after the final whistle. My only disappointment was the way he left Villa as a manager. I feel he could’ve achieved more. Villa legend, great guy and wonderful to still see him associated with the club. Another great interview Matt. UTV!

Anybody for Villa v Blues. Kenny Burns lets the ball slip under his foot, it was raining like crazy, Little puts in the bottom corner. Ooh yes! That youth team that won the Youth Cup was a terrific team - met Roy Stark when he was playing in Hong Kong - 1977? He never quite made it, but he was a great guy. Youth Cup semi-final (I think) against a good Blues team (Joe Gallagher etc) was memorable - big crowd at Villa Park on a cold, dark Wednesday night. Always thought that Tony Betts, also from Nottingham the same as Stark was, would make it. Never did. And of course, Gray, Deehan and Little - Villa 5 v Liverpool 1 - half-time.

Haha, I used to wait around on the Witton End after games in the early-mid 70s hoovering up the dropped money. I'd often make back the entrance fee, programme and pie money
