I think the whole song is actually a reimagining of Aerith's theme. It purposely tries not to song like that during the intro of the song, but I hear it in the intro now too. Uematsu is a truely a master composer. His ability at rewriting and hiding motifs across multiple songs is simply the best I've ever heard. It gave games like FFVII so much depth and emotional impact.

They know this is the last hurrah and their one last shot at stopping Sephiroth as they journey further and further down into the northern cave.
The end is near. You have reached the final chapter of this fantastic game facing dangerous monsters and gathering items and materia before you are ready for the finale. There is hope, even in the deepest of despair. So don't give up. You're almost there!
once part 3 finale of final fantasy VII remake trilogy finally gets released. I can't wait to see Northern cavern in Glorious HD along with Judgement day music arranged for the final dungeon by 2027. :)
I really like the hammering instrument in this music, and full disclosure, a lot of attempt to “remake” or modernize, this I’ve seen on RUclips, something’s missing and don’t feel satisfying. I’m really curious how this track will turn out in the Remake

Am I completely in the wrong dungeon lol, I'd go play through it if I could but been completely blind for several years now and I'm sad that I can't see any of these remakes especially SO2R but I can at least listen to them

この曲のタイトルの英訳『Judgment Day』なのに和名のタイトルは審判の日ではなく最期の日にしたのも良いよね
メテオの発動により星にとってもクラウドたちにとっても最期の日になるかもしれないっていう緊迫感がタイトルからも伝わりやすい

Aeris's theme is woven in Judgment Day, because she's there, too. One of my very favorite pieces from the game.
