It’s amazing all of the different things a person could add to salmon croquettes, and they all taste a little different in a great way. When I was a little girl, I’d stand next to my mom and eat them as she took them out of the pan. Piping hot was always best. I would eat until I hurt. 😂 She’d make them tiny to fit in my little hands. I didn’t eat any of the fried potatoes with onions because the patties were so good. I always wear gloves when cooking. It seems more sanitary, no matter how long one were to wash her hands. Yum!! Yum!! I have a can of salmon I need to use. I’ll try this version tomorrow. I keep onion and red bell pepper in my fridge, chopped and ready to use. I keep a jar of minced garlic, fresh lemon, sweet relish, and dill relish in the fridge, too. Thank you for your version. It sounds awesome. Love the gloves!!!

Awesome job! Cast iron skillet a good healthy choice & less oil required. Lots of salt in can salmon. Careful with the salt due to existing health problems. In addition, Worcestershire sauce has salt. I suggest skipping the salt & add maybe a little Italian seasoning to enhance the natural salt flavor. Been enjoying all your inspiring cooking videos. Keep them coming!!
They look delicious. My mom still makes them and she's almost 90 years old! Instead of the bread crumbs on the outside though, she uses Andy's seasoned cornmeal.
My mom made these in the 50s and 60s. She was a child during the Depression in the 30s. Salmon, mixed with saltine crackers and eggs from the chicken coop, made inexpensive fried patties for a family. Today, I'll put salmon on a salad, but can't take the smell in the house from frying salmon.
You hit the nail on the head when you said add potatoes to stretch the mixture. My mom calls them potato pancakes with salmon. We ate regular salmon cakes with grits in the morning. I really enjoyed this video, it brought back those sweet nostalgic memories.
I just finished making salmon cakes, fried potatoes, fried cabbage and corn!!! Tammy, the day you open that restaurant, cause you are, I'll be down from Baltimore for sure!!!!
I used to eat them for dinner. My mom made the best but I didn’t get the recipe before she passed. I am trying yours because I haven’t had them in years, hope I still like them.
This is much healthier anyway! I make salmon croquettes about the same way, but I put dill weed and green onion tops in mine with a squeeze of lemon. My veggies are diced very thin, bell peppers, celery, onion, and about the same seasonings, some flour, eggs, a little milk to help hold together. I form mine like small rectangle loaves. Roll in bread crumbs. Yummy ! Serve with tartar sauce, rice, or grits, slaw or salad for supper.

Salmon patties were a staple product at our home. Still love 'em! My Mother had a little story about how she would "de-bone" the canned salmon, and my Dad would stand next to her and eat the salmon bones. They really are tasty with a soft crunch. Looks delicious, I'm on my way to the store. Making this meal for New Year's dinner. Something different instead of same old tradition. Thanks, I'm a new subscriber!!!!
I was born in Florida and came to California when I was seven months old . But, my mother always made salmon croquettes or salmon patties ,which ever you want to say it.
Your recipe sounds so delicious . Thank you sister.
Salmon patties were a staple product at our home. Still love 'em!
My Mother had a little story about how she would "de-bone" the canned salmon, and my Dad would stand next to her and eat the salmon bones. They really are tasty with a soft crunch. However, the tiny rib bones could be a bit troublesome.
Thanks for showing all about real food of real people.
We children got to eat the bones.imagine eating bones😉🧡
Your grandmother was right. Keep that good stuff on hand.
Always added small chunks boiled potatoes to patties. So good!!

I love your whole demeanor you are alovely person, thanks for the recipes, do you have a old time teacake recipe with molasses or maple syrup my mother used to do it like a biscuit and place it in a pan instead of cookie cutter it was so good just wondering if you have that old time recipe it would be nice God bless I thank you so much for giving us these beautiful luscious delicious recipes I make these things but I haven't made them in a while since mom passed but you have given me an incentive to try to do these things for myself after watching you I do love to eat but lately my appetite has been decreasing I guess because I'm getting older a lot of time when we get older we don't want to eat we don't even have the incentive to get in the kitchen to cook it but I think God for you keep doing what you're doing especially your voice and your aura don't change it God bless you you sound like a Brooklyn night God bless love you.

My grandma added cornmeal into her salmon made it crunchy...my friend mother added mashed potatoes in her salmon croquettes mix

I was laughing so hard in the end because i could tell you were hungry😜u almost ate the whole patty... and u said ur whole family was hungry so i was waiting for the camera person to drop it or say cut. You're such a tease making them suffer.🤣 but i genuinely thank you. My mom has passed and I'm going to cook this in her honor!
Your comment was so amazing to read, and I know you definitely got what it takes to master these recipes as well so please keep me posted and we will have some great times in the kitchen, thanks for watching and please be safe

Yes Tammy, my mother would make salmon patties, fried potatoes with onions & biscuits with Alaga syrup. You brought back memories with this one!
I'm glad you mentioned leaving the bones, They bring important nutritional elements such as calcium and they are not dangerous.
The bones make it better.
I never understood why people remove them....they’re soft...just mash them up
I just discovered that I'm diabetic, salmon is recommended food, your recipe looks good and easy to follow, I'm going to give it a try , Thanks
She also made a tomato based sauce to go along with it.Soooo good
Such a great idea! The acid in the tomato would go great with the oily salmon, but included with white rice as well.🤤
I love these salmon patties remind me of back home when my mom used to make them for dinner
We were a big family of 8 kids in the house.
Thank you for your recipe I will sure to make for everyone.
