Thank you for watching everyone! I was in Chicago for less than 48 hrs and spent the entire day tracking down these locations. I hope you enjoy my adventure. Happy holidays and a Merry Christmas! Give someone a hug and a warm greeting today!
The movie ends with John Candy's warm smile. I know the movie "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" also ends with a John Candy warm smile. I truly think it is one of the trademarks of an iconic movie moments, and an eighties iconic moment, too.
My entire family is from the Uncle Buck/John Hughes area, needless to say I’m a HUGE fan of all the amazing films he made for the world. What an awesome video Jay ❤️
@@TampaJay thank YOU Jay for traveling 5x this year….a ton of memories in North Chicago area, my very early childhood years were spent there and now live in South Florida because all my family retired here…feel like a fish out of water my whole life🤦🏼♀️
Thanks so much for hitting these amazing locations. This movie is one of my favorites and reminds me of when i grew up in Illinois.(Quad Cities). Midwest living is something I will always cherish, and Hughes captures that so well in Uncle Buck.
Just to throw this in, from the Russel home on Lincoln St. if you drive a few blocks to Golf Rd. and then drive maybe 15 to 20 minutes on Golf Rd. toward Rt. 294 it takes you right near the Illinois Lottery on Harrison St. What's so special about this place you ask? Well, it used to be Maine North High School which was the school used in 1985's The Breakfast Club! Still looks the same today!
Loved this! This is one of my favorite movies too. John Candy would have made so many more great movies if he could have stayed with us. Also John Hughes ❤
Absolutely amazing man, felt like I was there! Uncle Buck is one of my favorite movies of all time, and being able to see all these filming locations today was really great. Really appreciate all the hard work, keep up the great content brotha! This one meant a lot to me! ✌🏻
Jay, this was amazing! One of my favorite films. Great filming location. Still one of my favorite scenes is of Uncle Buck flipping the huge pancake with a shovel. lol Great job!
This was so awesome I absolutely love the movie uncle Buck I am planning a road trip to the Chicago area to do the filming location of home alone and the rest in place of John Hughes sometime in the summer or spring much love my brother epic video as always

OMG, can't thank you enough for making this GREAT video about one of my favorite movies. (My favorite John Hughes movie!) Uncle Buck was hilarious, and John Candy was the BEST!!! Everyone in this film was spectacular! This was an absolute pleasure to watch! Happy New Year!!!
I remember watching Uncle Buck when I was about 5 ( 1990 ) and I've loved that movie from that say to this, thank you for making this video the locations haven't changed much in 33 years absolutely awesome, RIP John Candy & John Hughes 💙
Great Video!!! Adding screen shots as well as addresses is a nice touch. I’m taking a road trip out there to visit all the John Hughs filming locations. Extremely helpful. Love my 80’s.
Brilliant video and one of my favourite films. I’m a UK resident but in the 3 times I’ve been to the States I’ve been to Winnetka to see some of the Home Alone locations as well as New York. Which obviously multiple films have been filmed at.
I’m happy to hear you watched it enjoyed the locations vicariously. That is a huge compliment my friend. Thank you so much.. I made this video for the true fans like yourself.
Great job Jay, Uncle Buck is a classic and this is the first video I’ve seen shooting the locations. I didn’t see anybody else comment on your pronunciation of Winnetka, but since you might be going back for Home Alone, it’s pronounce Winn-et-kah. Thanks again for putting this together man!
Love these comparison videos especially when stuff does not change. From Ireland and love John Candy movies he died way too soon. Loved Uncle Buck. Has anyone every done the great Outdoors comparison movie? were was that even filmed. And by the way Jay love your vid's!
Nice work Jay! Keep that awesome content coming! Your filming locations are the best! Hope you have a great Christmas and new year! Joe from Michigan!〽️
I analyze and cross examine things in the same way that you do. Even though it takes a lot of effort I find it fun, entertaining and interesting. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent job, dude!! I did the same last year, in September, and visited multiple John Hughes film locations. And no joke, I also rented a Chevy Spark! It was silver. When you were at Peet’s Coffee, Kate Bueller’s real estate office is across the street, opposite corner. I did the matching up of bricks too, when I visited the lake area where Cameron is laying down, catatonic, with Sloan comforting him, while Ferris does his monologue. Now I have to go back and visit the Uncle Buck spots! Thanks for sharing your finds with all the detail!
Chanice's apartment was at 522 Briar Pl. in Chicago. I lived across the street at 521 at the time. They shut down the street and trailers and gear trucks were there for a week. They DID film the inside scenes in that building because they put lighting boxes on the turret windows in her second floor apartment at the southwest corner of the building. One evening as I was leaving my building a camera crew was set up on the sidewalk outside of 521 Briar to get the exterior shot of the 522 Briar building. When I returned home that night all the trucks and trailers were gone and they wrapped. That outside shot did make the final cut.
I rewatched Uncle Buck last night for the soul purpose for this vlog. Such a good vlog Tampa Jay! I miss Chicago, IL I grew up in Wheaton and Warrenville, IL about hour from those film locations. I love John Hughes and John Candy too. Keep up the good work kind sir. Can't wait for your next Chicago adventure and others too.

Well done on this video.
Jay, glad to have you in Chicago. As a fan of John Hughes films, maybe next time you're in Chicago. John Hughes is buried in Lake Forest Cemetery, Lake Forest, Illinois. Great job on this video and matching up the scenes to the movie...especially as most have change in the last 30 years. Not sure how long you are in the Chicago area, but Woodstock is about 45 minutes West where the movieGroundhog Day was filmed and they have most of the locations marked. Also Gurnee has the Hotel from the movie Plane Trains and Automobiles. John Hughes liked filming in Winnetka, Wilmette areas as they is close to where he grow up so he filmed on location for most of his movies.
