- After being unable to do concerts for over a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Art has staged a planned comeback tour this fall. Tin Mirror Productions in released this promotional video of Artie with pal Tab on Vimeo a week ago, doing a bit of Scarborough Fair and announcing the much awaited news. However, there is still uncertainty around the corner as coronavirus cases in the US are still rising due to the dreaded Delta variant.
I'm 56 years old and for my entire life I have listened to your music, just wanted to say thank you.
Me too. Same age
Wow surprised to see him
U R so unique ! I luv your voice . 🥰
Hey...we are same age......yess....
I'm 55 and I feel the same way. I too say thanks for all the love.
You guys hold an unexplainably special place in my heart. Memories of 7 year old me in my grandmas house dancing to El Condor Pasa and The Boxer on her record player. Warrants tears whenever I think about it; Greatest Hits is the soundtrack to my childhood. I love you.
He'll be 80 in a couple of weeks and he still sounds pretty damn good.
i am 60 years old and i love your musik from beginning then i listen musik
He's aged beautifully. Beautiful man Beautiful voice and the guitarist too. Beautiful to hear in these troubled and interesting times.
are they really s & g? I dont know any stories but I thought they are not friends? description says they are doing tours? I am so confused
He's one of the few artists to elicit deep-felt emotion in me. A healing voice. God bless you.
Eternamente maravilloso, te amo
Por entregarme paz a mi vida, una delicia para mis oídos ❤😊
So strange to "be 70." Art is an old friend to all of us!
What is strange about being 70? I'm 72 and I don't call you names.
@@sharpenflat6002 Just an affectionate ode to the S&G song "old friends." If you cannot stay in the conversation intelligently with respect...you should refrain from the goodwill spirit of what these two artist represents.
@@dougguard1 Well excuse me, but this isn't Woodstock 69'.
@@sharpenflat6002 No, it isn't Woodstock '69. It's an old friend singing songs he taught us when we were young. You are not the target audience. This was not done for you. I, and many others of my age cohort are the intended audience. We appreciate what Art Garfunkel brings to his songs fifty to sixty years later. You are welcome to enjoy the man's performance as you wish. Recognize that you, yourself, will some day find yourself reliving memories of younger years as you listen to the beautiful voice of an old friend.
@@sharpenflat6002 i think she is talking about the years since she first heard this..
The voice of an angel.
Truly!
....in.its death throes.....
The guitar sounds amazing. They nailed that effect. And Art got his wonderful voice back. Such a unique voice. I never understood how Art Garfunkel could have such a deep speaking voice and such a high singing voice. When he talks, it sounds like he should be a baritone, but he's way up there in the high tenor on most of the songs he sings. It doesn't sound like he's singing falsetto. Maybe it's a mixed or head, but it sounds so angelic, not your typical nasal mixed or head voice. I wish I could sing like that.
I just recently discovered Simon and Garfunkel. Wonderful music.
The man still has 90% of his legendary voice. See him while you can; he is a treasure.
Closer to 62%
I’d listen at 100%. Or simply play a record etc.
@@DonLicuala still 50% better than most...
The voice he has now is the voice he has NOW. Have you heard Marianne Faithful sing lately? Her voice has been altered even more than Garfunkel's by the passage of time and the experiences she has had, but it remains strong and EXPRESSIVE -- and so does the voice of Mr. Art Garfunkel. Singers age, their voices change. That is a fact of life. It does not mean that it's necessarily a better or worse voice than before, it is different. Even Adelle, who is still quite young, is not the same singer now that she was in 2017 -- and THAT IS ALRIGHT.
YES, please, enjoy Art Garfunkel while he is still with us. He is a rare treasure indeed.
@@petermcgill1315 better than me but that isn't saying much.
S&G's concert in Central Park is still one of the greatest performances of all time. Watched it dozens of times over the years...never gets old. Good to see Art still singing...and with NYC in the background, no less.
Indeed, grew up with that pretty much on a loop, such great memories
I was at that concert. I arrived early in the morning to get a great spot. I remember learning how to solve the Rubik’s cube while waiting. The concert was amazing. There were people in the trees to get better views. It’s one of my favorite music experiences.
They need to release that on Blu-ray.
Agree!
I love that performance & it's my favorite by S & G
Beutiful track, Arty now looks like one of the two grumpy old men on the theatre balcony in the Muppet show 😁👍
Long and happy life to you, dearest Art ! 🤗🤗🥰
You're the best singer !
Oh this made me cry you sound more beautiful than ever.
I cried too 💜😭
Keep singing Art! The melody is still in his heart at 80 years young! One if the greatest vocalist of all time
WELCOME BACK ART GARFUNKEL WITH YOUR FRIENDS . GOD SENT YOU BACK AGAIN,GREETING FROM ARMENIA 🇦🇲
It's as if he's never lost his voice. Absolutely beautiful.
Art Garfunkel was in north carolina and in a limo.
He asked the driver could he sit with him. He said sure.
During the ride Art sang songs for him giving a one man concert.
Art is a gem and one of a kind. If you look for good you will find it.
in fact he was sick for a while and lost it a lot. he tought he will never recover But he did.
@@francoisdesmeules5785 I heard him when he was losing his voice - was so sad - I pray he has recovered his voice, it was always so angelic ❤
Art had throat cancer more than once and his recovery is somewhat of a miracle...I was in tears when I first heard of his voice loss...but always loved him as a person as well as an artist this is lovely to hear him sing again despite the lack of his blonde curly locks. 💕 the man is a survivor, bless him 🌟
81 years young, bless you 🙏
The talent of Simon and Garfunkel, both individually and as a duo.
Today's 'pop pretenders' are not fit to clean their shoes.
Los de hoy no puede ni siquiera limpiarles los zapatos 👞
👍👍
There are tons of talented young people right beside the pretenders, your comment shows your complete ignorance!
Pop Rock has been in decline for some time now. I had the privilege, seeing them in Saratoga and their first song was "Mrs. Robinson". Still have the ticket stub which was under 5 dollars for the Orchestra section.
@@shakyhandpictures2185You must be a dead head that loves Rap. Today's music is all homogenized.
To watch Art Garfunkel sing so lovingly after the lockdown is like the dawn of a new day.
I can't imagine living close to him and hearing his voice on the wind... how I adore Art Garfunkel... voice of an Angel.
🎼🖤
Sooz, I'd be weepy 24/7...
Certainly!
After a lifetime, that voice control is still there.. just amazing..
My father introduced me to your songs and i am stil listening, God bless you sir for the absolutely awesome music you gifted us
How wonderful to hear those melodic tones. What a gifted man you are Arty. Been a fan since I was a young lad. Thank you.

To hear him sing this song, brings back memories of youth, time went by in a blink...
It surely did! 😊
Love makes time grow quickly, and despair makes it grow slowly, thus is the mechanics of a beating heart.
It sure did
I played it on a little AM radio station in Temple, Texas. Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Look at the commanding stage presence he has even knowing he's in the twilight of his career. This is an amazing achievement that he's still able to sing at all. This sounds like a must-do concert series
I have no idea why, but I just started crying. Love and beauty is ageless. Memories are timeless. We love you guys. We really do.
I’m 72 - Tears rolling down my cheeks - memories💙
Why? Because you have a good heart!
Always be beautiful John.
You are not alone... that's exactly what happened to me!

I WAS A BOY WHEN I EAR THIS SONG FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE TIME IS AMAZING CAN'T STOP A FEELINGS. 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Can't Wait.
Still beautiful after all these years.
Blessing to Art G.
Hermoso, me hizo lsgrimear
Wow, just wonderful. His voice remains amazing.
Still such a wonderful voice. He is truly a gift.
He always had a beautiful voice--after the two split up I bought a CD of Art alone. Totally over-produced, just awful. It's a tragedy that he could have had a tremendous solo career but clearly was ruined by poor musical and business decisions that may not have been made by him.
@@adamshinbrot I truly understand ....
Meh
Yes, Frank Sinatra had a wonderful voice and he was truly a gift.
Who in the heck is thumbs downing Art Garfunkel still being able to sing at his age and with the throat troubles he's had? Do you thumbs down the Mona Lisa because it's kind of faded? For my money, one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking male voices in the history of pop music. I too hope to get a chance to see him and hope he's coming close enough on his tour. My favorite is probably "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her". I'm in love with that girl running to me with her cheeks flushed with the night.
Simon and his 77 followers still hating while preaching peace and love. Art is the man!
I would have to agree, but keep in mind...A great number of those dislikes come from Bots.
Well Artie..how about some new material singing about what is going on since we crossed the Rubicon?
Gotta agree with you. I am stunned how many folks don't know/ haven't listened to For Emily. Haunting sound about missing a love and there she is. S&G's best song.
@@kevinnewsom3128 I seriously doubt your conspiracy- theory thinking. Do all opposing opinions have malicious intent ? Methinks you have your head firmly held between your nether cheeks
His voice is still stunning as it was when this song was recorded!!!!!!
We are generations of Egyptians from across Egypt , we grew up to your Art since the central park concert in the 70s ❤🥂🎶
Happy 2022
He's still got such a beautiful singing voice.
Saw Art in concert about five years ago, he was fantastic. Such a beautiful voice and wonderful back catalogue of songs.
I am in my 30s, from early 2000s till now still a fan of the duo. In my imagination i always see their younger self and youthful appearance and voices. They are old now but their music's quality is still the best!!
Absolutely a beautiful and timeless voice that unlike so many others in the music industry, is just as wonderful today as it was back in the 60’s!💕🇨🇦
...or better...my wrinkled ears ♥️ his wrinkled voice
I’m 51 and I remember my dad as a little kid playing your records over and over again. I’ve grown to absolutely love your music. Thank you for these wonderful years.
Saw Artie about five years ago. It was just him and an extremely accomplished acoustic guitar player. He'd sing a couple songs, then tell a story or two...and so it went. One of the best concerts I've ever seen - and I've seen 'em all from Zeppelin to ZZ Top.
To bad you restricted your listening, since there are truly so, so many more greats from A to Y -
i second that. saw him 2018 in munich. i had tears in my eyes

As someone who was born in and lived many years in Scarborough ( UK ) it's great to hear this song again. A unique voice and personality.

And I live on the opposite coast near Liverpool ❤️🙏
Well Artie..how about some new material singing about what is going on since we crossed the Rubicon?
Fabulous! He has not lost his magic.
I'm 53 l used to listen Simon songs before going to bed since childhood l love listen to his melancholy voices.
I saw him and his son perform in Atlantic city N.J. one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
I can't believe he got his voice back! This is truly incredible and a testament to hard work and grit!
I'm a 76-year-old former classical singer and a long-time S&G fan. What I identify with now is how HARD it is for Art to sing now. Struggling to support his breath, to sing evenly. I'm not criticizing him. It just comes with age. I wish him the best success in this new endeavor, but it won't come easily.
@@ralphficker167 That's the demonstration that feeling is not only the voice.
@@clmasse True. But the voice is his public identity. It's what drew people to him. I might be wrong, but I suspect audiences will be delighted to hear him tell some cool stories about his career, BUT ONLY if the singing doesn't fall below an acceptable level.
@@ralphficker167 You can hear him struggling to keep his breath, but his voice is still very nice. It's almost as if his lungs lack the capacity? I'm not a singer, so I'm not quite sure of the physiology, but I know at 54 I don't quite have the ability to control deep breathing that I once had with ease.
@@le_th_ You've noticed that your deep breathing is not as easy as it used to be. That's basically a small loss of muscle control, or muscle coordination. I don't want to get too technical. Let's just say that Art Garfunkel will be asking some muscles in his throat and in his torso to work together, to coordinate... not the way they used to, but at least in a way that's acceptable to him now. We'll see.
As I ran across this, I almost surprised myself at how good it was to see and hear AG. That album, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme, I think was one of the most influential musical statements of the Sixties. That voice -- wonderful.
Love these guys! I can sing every word of their songs... Major fan since the 60's. Beautiful voice!
Hello🌹
Art is the one artist I would love to see live... A Heart in New York will melt this old heart of mine. A voice like no other.
Arty, man you don't need to advertise. But glad you did because any time we get to hear you is treasured. Sound great by the way...I've tried my entire life with lot's of praise since childhood but I know I would never sound this good on my best day.

The Man still has his voice...still a thrill to hear after all these years.
Yes it really got to me hearing him sing .such a wonderful moment after all these years.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Nice one.
I dont think he's got a high range now for the big notes like Bridge over T Water.
No, he doesn’t have his voice. It was a lovely rendition by an elderly man, better than anybody his age. But, no, he doesn’t have his old voice, sadly.
But sometimes something else is added that moves the listeners at another plane 🤗
Couldn’t help but shed a few tears. What a beautiful and timeless song. Takes me back to my teenage years.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ACUSTIC GUITAR SONG ,,,,,, EVER PERIOD !!!!!
Absolutely beautiful... as always. Looking forward to the tour. Here's to hoping it happens.
So happy to see and hear from you again, Art. A lot of us have been missing you so much and i hope you are always in pink of health and safety. God bless.
Here's the thing, we live in a different generation now and people hear different words.
Children growing up in the 60's appreciated 50's music, growing up in the 70's you'd appreciate 50's and 60's music. In the 80's you would love that music and it would take you a while to understand what they were saying previously, but once you did you would appreciate what those era's were saying. The 90's were a new generation, a lot of which were beyond the "Older" gen but it was still okay. But at that point a lot of people had forgotten about past bands, instead focusing on modern era groups. We all did that though at some point, we all loved the music of our era.
Today, 2021 at the time of writing, people appreciate "Old school music" very much so. Older music is more popular now than ever before, older bands are releasing singles and come back tours, or just continuing tours they have done for years. Simon and Garfunkel will always have a place in music history, today bands still copy there songs, disturbed for an example.
It's good that artists of yesteryear are able and willing to continue today.
Music that will last a life time.
Here's a very simple explanation of why: GOOD is Good is good always. This is why people the world over cover the Beatles, Elvis, The Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, etc.
Save the cookie cutter filth poetry like style (music) of today.
I was 18 when I first heard you guys sing. So amazing! I still listen to your songs, each one brings a memory. A memory of a time of life before kids, of civil unrest, Of Black Lives Matter, President Nixon, the Vietnam war, and I wonder how much has changed. Your music has been with me through my life. Now I’m a grandma of ten…I pass your music on to them. God bless you guys!
There was Civil unrest, the Civil rights movement was the first Black lives matter and the Vietnaum war as well. I think you have rose colored glasses on.plent of protests in the 60's, Kent State - 4 protesters dead in Ohio
@@annabrahamson4320 I agree with you 100%. Why in the heck do you think I have rose-colored glasses on? Things like that hurt me. And I don’t like it. I’m sorry. My dog is dying as we speak and I’m really sensitive right now. God bless you!

So wonderful to hear Art's beautiful voice.
I have started seriously listening to music in the late Sixties/early Seventies. I would love to live long enough to see people like Art and Paul or David Gilmour and Roger Waters make peace with each other. Not a single second of our lives is worth fighting over anything, especially if we are so creative and have so much to offer the world.
So true...

Hearing them singing one of their beautiful songs again, tears are running over my cheeks. Like vervet the voice and guitar sounds are coming to me. Even more beautiful because of the vulnerabilty of the aging voice. So good to see them together. Thank you for your more that beautiful songs.

One of the most beautiful ballads ever written.
Indeed!!
It´s an old folk song.
ruclips.net/video/F6-0SBuq_Is/видео.html
S&G's arrangement of Scarborough Fair/Canticle is definitely THE iconic arrangement. Tho they did not credit the old English ballad origin, nor that Simon based the version strongly on Martin Carthy's guitar arrangement. Still, it was a song time stamping that period in the 60's.. in the most wonderful way possible.
This is so moving. A few more breaths perhaps, but the same magical Garfunkel tone.

Simon & Garfunkel last shared a stage together at the New Orleans jazz festival in 2010
Miss them! I still recall having romantic feelings when Bridge over Troubled Water came out. A guy in our scholarship house had an album, and played it many times in our main room.
Absolutely stunning voice. Still brilliant after all these years....
Wow this is quite moving. Yes he’s getting on but vocally recognizable
The audible frailty in his voice somehow makes it a *more* powerful performance, not less. There's a similar, but subtler quality to some of the the vocals in the new Abba songs. It's incredibly moving to have artists that have been part of our aural lives for so long, still able to reach out with all their original 'magic' and then an extra layer of experience and fragility.
Of course, knowing that time in increasingly short for them (and us!) just adds to the cocktail of emotions that's stirred up. It's wonderful stuff!
Everyone “gets on” in life, don’t be surprised!
I disagree... he smoked his beautiful voice away with YEARS of nicotine addiction and this is the end result 😢
@@randalclarke5487 I can understand why you say that, but I've just listened again and I think there is something wonderful about the frailty in his voice. If he still sang like he used to (as Tom Jones still can after a similar timespan) that would be impressive, but less striking. I don't have the same opinion on the new Rob Stewart song though... he sounds terrible on that. Mind you, he sounded terrible to start with, so I may be biased. :-)
