So i've always liked shooters or shmups but I have recently have had a new found appreciation and love for them as I am much older now (i'm 48) and I run a business, work a PT job and take care of the kiddos after school so my time to game is limited. I love Shooters cuz u can dive in and get out in just a few minutes or so and till have a blast playing them. Its a way that I unwind or relax and just enjoy the in game music and blasting everything in sight. I really enjoy ur game pickups and insight on games as I collect also and appreciate the help in seeing what I also may want in the future or may already own. Thanks!

Well, basic math tells me if you add 20+ games to your backlog a week, but you only play 2-3 games a week, you'll NEVER EVER get caught up and will be in same boat as me once you reach your 60's like myself.
Face it, getting caught up will never happen in our lifetimes!!! haha.
I realized that years ago, but it doesn't stop me from adding to my collection as well.

I love the fact that online gaming has given me a way to keep in contact with buddies from old deployments and work from as far back as 20 years. We still meet up on weekends or whenever nad play something while chatting about randomness and it's like being back in the service and has helped me so much mentally after retirement. Love the channel and this community so much.

3 friends of mine came over. I was playing Punch out on the wii. A friend of mine goes on and on about how good he is at Punch Out. He starts playing out of the corner of my eye I see glass joe laying into him... He lost to Glass Joe, then tries to say " He's played this game before Glass Joe is one of the hardest guys in the game."

haha you might have a bit of a problem picking up too many games when you have so many you haven't played yet (a lot of us do to varying degrees of extreme) but without it you wouldn't be able to entertain with these videos! I always use my home screen to browse RUclips. I usually see and click your new videos before I get the push notification, so it seems to work for me. I'll still check out the subs page to see what I've been missing, but it's nice to know the algorithm works sometimes.
I'm glad to see it works occasionally, too! For the last few weeks, I've gotten about 1% of my views from recommendations. It's usually about 50%

I have the same addiction... I love Shoot 'em ups... my first game I ever saved up for was Tyrian for the PC. I saved up all my money and my mom mailed a check to Epic games back in the 90s and I played the heck out of that game when I was a kid. I wish there was Steam back in the 90s to track exactly how many hours I put into Tyrian as a kid... because it was a lot. That was the start of my Shoot em' up addiction haha

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater originally came from a build of the Movie Tie in game for apocalypse and Bruce Willis was the first playable character in a Tony Hawk game technically 🤓☝🏻

Haunted Castle I really don't think is so bad as it's made out to be. I had fun beating it when it got a physical release on PS2 in Japan as part of the Oretachi Game Center series that came with arcade art, a mini soundtrack disc, a mini super play DVD, and hint book for each game.
You're in for a treat with the Neo Geo Pocket collections. I have all of the games on that collection on the carts, and almost all of them are fun (Big Bang Pro Wrestling is super rare, but definitely the weakest of the bunch on that). Card Fighter's Clash is especially awesome. Mega Man Battle & Fighters has such an awkward name because it's a collection of the two arcade games ported to NGPC, and it's really fun.
The Oretachi Game Center sounds really awesome! I wish I had known about it.

@@RNGGamerYT Yeah, I was really a big Neo Geo fan, so when the Pocket launched, I grabbed up pretty much everything I could. I have about 3/4 of the complete collection. I'll never finish it, because I don't see myself spending money on gambling games. The one I missed and wished I hadn't was the version of Cotton that didn't come out in the US. I found out about it way too late to get it at a good price.
UK we have a simpler problem with getting bargains, charity shops (thrift shops), using eBay to price old games, and seeing what people are asking for them, but they pick the highest prices 😢 not the selling prices........
That's a problem in a lot of places!
There is a shop around here that prices their games 20% above ebay asking prices because, "we have to run a business." Then they turn around and offer people $10 on a $200 game when they buy them. Such a ripoff
Worst about "wanted dead" is the few check points. What breaks ya is if ta die at a super hard section you rewind 2 hours back that you have to play all over again..

The Haunted Castle rant was hilarious! Not to make you spend more money, but have you heard of a shmup called Pawarumi? It was originally a Play Asia exclusive that sold physically for Switch and PS4. I think you'd like it!

My wife swears she made me a video collecting addict when she bought me a handheld emulator a few years ago. Really what triggered me was the closing of the PS Vita and PS3 eshop. Told myself I’ll buy a few games I want for those systems and stop. Several hundred later… Then Nintendo DS closure was announced and within a day of hearing about that I was a DS collector. Now it’s Xbox 360’s turn. Luckily I already bought most of what I wanted months ago. Anyway FOMO is real. Next month I’m taking a break - hopefully!

A question, for everyone who wants to respond, and a story. What made you want to start collecting? For me I had kept my childhood N64, PS2, and Wii. I only had maybe 10-15 games, but I set up a little retro area every where I lived and played my old games all the time. My girlfriend at the time, now wife, noticed this and that anywhere we went that had any kind of retro game system I would stop and play. Christmas 2014 she bought me an NES with Mario’s 1-3 and duck hunt with a zapper. I haven’t stopped since.
That's an awesome story! I started doing it just because I wanted the stuff my parents got rid of... it snowballed from there 😄

Funny you mention getting into shmups around the 360, I think I caught the bug on the Saturn and Dreamcast...but I was on my 360 so I decided to go and redownload everything that was tied to my old account...I ended up playing trouble witches for 2 hours.

I personally really enjoyed the modern Ninja Gaiden games. It may be sacrilegious to say, but I enjoyed them more than the 8 and 16 bit titles.

For me personally, I've become less and less interested in collecting for the more modern generations in the last few years.
The hunt for them doesnt call to me in the same way as retro does, particularly the 16-bit era.
One of my earliest gaming memories (after witnessing SMB3 on NES being played at my neighbours) was when my eldest sister got the super mario all stars snes console variant back in Christmas 1994 and of course I was hooked.
Peculiarly though, i always yearned to have a mega drive instead as the games just looked a lot edgier.
Growing up in a small town our only gaming outlet was the video rental store where you could also buy and rent games. I used to love browsing the mega drive section and loved the gritty artwork of its library. Games like Super Street Fighter, Streets of rage 3 and Earthworm Jim looked so cool.
So whenever i was at someones house that had a mega drive i was totally entranced at the games on offer. It was always the forbidden fruit i couldn't have.
Anyway, life went on and when the first mega drive compilation was released for the PS2. I started collecting in 2017 once I got my own place and a year later i purchased a mega drive bundle. I collect for most consoles now but the mega drive remains my biggest collection to date despite not having it growing up. I know it totally flys in the face of conventional retro collecting goals of buying back their childhood but now i can say for certain its my favourite console of all time :)

Most things I buy are retro, but this month, it's been tons of modern stuff. That will change next month when convention season starts for me. 😄

I never knew they still made this many old school shootemups but in episode you mentioned one of my favorite action games Ninja gaiden 2 sigma I remember playing the original on Xbox 360 back in 2009 keep up the good work 😊

Never got around to playing Ninja Gaiden 2, but NG Black might be favorite character action game ever. Hard? Yeah. Fun? Absolutely!
I did play Sigma 3 also, I didn't love it but still enjoyed the few hours I spent with it.
Shmups aren't for me, but I always enjoy hearing people talk about things they are passionate about.
Deadeus looks wild. I think that GB pallette works well with the subject matter.
I've given up on LRG. It's bad for my mental health to buy something and then wait over a year to get it.

I named my daughter Terra from FFVI. I need one more game to finish my US Dreamcast game collection. I never beat Mike Tyson in Punch Out or the Dark Queen in Battletoads but I don't find the Demon Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring games hard (I was going to list Sekiro but Isshin the Sword Saint can literally eat fleas for ever; I mean 4 phases? Come on!). Great video as always.

the first time i played super mario bros 1 2 and 3 when i was 6 years old i really enjoyed but i was terrible at it i played those games on the NES and SuperNintendo
I was about the same age when I played them, too!
Gamestop is the worst these days. My local one doesn't even open until noon nowadays because barely anyone goes there. I've never really been a fan, only go there when there are no other choices.
It was great for picking up games 15 years ago!

Radiant Silvergun is such a fun game. As a huge Treasure fan I had to own this back on the Saturn 20+ years ago. Cost me $200 back then with the spine card and everything. It’s a definite classic. Surprised you haven’t played it honestly, especially if you’re a fan of Ikaruga.
I love me some Cave bullet hell, but there’s something systemic about Treasure’s offerings that can’t quite be replicated. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but they feel special. I still own the Saturn version, but I think I’m going to pick up the Switch version. I wish they’d put it out on PS4 as well, cause I’m more a Sony guy, but I guess I should stop holding my breath.
Post script. I’m in the same boat with the PS4 fight stick. I already have the TE2 stick and I can either buy an overpriced adapter to let me use it with PS5 games, or I could just say screw it and buy a new PS5 stick for something all shiny and new. I’m leaning toward shiny and new.
Go with shiny and new for the arcade stick. Those adapters add delay that you don't want with an arcade game.
I've been trying to find a copy of Radiant Silvergun for years! It's the only reason I haven't played it yet. I wish it had come out on PS5, too 😄
As you've started this one with a couple of Team Ninja games, I'll just say that I am really enjoying Rise of the Ronin at the moment
I think it's in danger of being a bit overlooked due to other big releases recently. You don't need to rush out and buy a brand new copy, but if you see it for a good price I would say it's worth getting. As someone who struggles with fast-paced games where you need to be good at parry timing, I was pleased to see it has a variety of difficulty options.
It's on my wishlist to grab! I'm sure I'll be able to find a cheap copy at some point. Glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

I first played Mike Tyson’s punch out when I was 9 years old and of course I was terrible at it after a few years I played it and still terrible at it instead of playing Mike Tyson’s punch out I played something on my NES console called punch out featuring Mr Dream it’s so like Mike Tyson’s punch out I first played it when I was 14 after allot of months ago I played it again after playing double dragon 2 the revenge with infinite Lives I played punch out featuring Mr Dream again and this time I gotten so much better than before
It's the same game. They just switched out Mike Tyson with a generic character for licensing issues. It plays exactly the same.

Trigger Heart is another great game. I have it on the 360 and love the tate mode it offers.

Avid Castlevania fan here, even have a Holy water tattoo. I even played Castlevania Legends this morning, beat it. That being said, Dracula X is the most frustrating game I’ve ever played! It’s not even the difficulty, it’s the level design. It’s so bad. Rondo of Blood is the way to go imo. The others are great though. Really enjoyed them.

Watching you talk about all of your games. A thought occurred to me, would I live long enough to finish my back log😅. I've fallen into Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen and I plan being lost in the game for a while. I purchased it during along with Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition during Playstation's sale in March. I usually purchase the physical copy but the digital version was so cheap. I just couldn't pass them up. I only purchase games that I want to play, mostly RPG's. I have Final Fantasy Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma II, Dark Souls Remastered and a few others on my wish list. This is just my wish, my husband's wish list includes only sports related games. Why is it do you think that collectors amass such large libraries? I am just as guilty, even though I know I will never get around to playing everything I have purchased. Why must we still feel the need to continue purchasing? 🧐 It has perplexed me for years, and yet… I just bought another game this week. 🤣
People have always had the desire to collect. Video games are fantastic because they have a lot of value not only in terms of money, but also memories. Unlike sports cards or old oil cans, there is a tangible use to collecting video games in that you can play them.
I don't think purchasing them is a big factor. People collect rocks, napkins, matchbooks, etc. All for free. If video games were all super cheap, I still think people would want to aquire them 😄

i first played twinbee when i was 16 i gave up so fast in the 1st stage because i died too many times i still remember those bells in this game the blue bell let's you speed up white bell let's you shoot two bullets red bell let's you use a shield flashing changing color bell let's you have 2 shadow ships they follow and copy you everytime wrapped up candy let's you shoot 3 bullets to be honest i am terrible at the game i couldn't beat gradius on the old console called turbo grafx 16 i beat life force on the nes with infinite lives all because i'm really bad at it i was playing it on my old ipad using the Nimbus Controller i was using the controller for hours and days weekends and months i really like it
Twinbee is pretty much impossible. I hate the bell juggling mechanic so much... so much 😄

Wii U servers shut down a couple days ago, got me really sad since i've played call of duty on there since 2012 (don't like the newer ones) Wii U was also free from people hacking and ruining lobbies. Have never really tried shoot em ups before and that game looks cool! Never ordered from strictly limited since i've had terrible experience with limited run games. Broken case, and 2 or 3 games never arriving, and ofcourse no help from support!
I miss the Wii U, too! I grabbed it on day 1.
I've never had any issues with Strictly Limited. Sometimes things get delayed, but you definitely should have gotten your games from LRG
Too many games? No such thing. My poor consoles are completely drowning in external harddrives and that's the way me likes it! Oh, and 7th Sector is soooo good. You're in for a treat. But the fact that Ninja Gaiden is almost old enough to vote, that's depressing. Next installment we'll get the Ninjas deadly struggle against arthritis, and getting up 5 times every night to pee. Yeehaw!
I would actually love an action game where you play as an older beloved character who struggles to get around a bit. I thought that would happen in Uncharted 4 and Assassin's Creed Revelation, but they were still both super heroes 😅

Wanted: Dead is a really good game. The ending level before the boss gets really hard. You gotta learn how to play; it's not really a game you can button mash through. But overall, the game is great and different and funny at times. Awesome video as always. Your content rocks always. Love how you try so many different kinds of games. Keep it up!

@@RNGGamerYT The bosses aren't that bad! You'll be able to handle them. It's the ninjas that are gonna be the problem! Waves and waves of crazy fast ninjas! Learn to parry and you'll get through it. The last boss is fairly hard, though, too. But getting to the boss is insane. I almost gave up. But you can do it, is my bet. Good luck when you take on the challenge! It's actually, in some ways, one my favorite games, because it tries do something a little different. It's a hidden b-tier gem. I'll be interested on what you think when you get to it.

Wanted dead was way better than I expected it to be. So much so that it's one of the few games I made a review video for on my channel. It's tough as anything but it's so weird and quirky I recommend it to everyone.
That 7th sector is one I've really wanted to pick up. Seen it on a few hidden gems lists. That pixel game reminds me awesome pea. Enjoyed both of them. I love ikaruga but haven't been able to get into radiant silvergun for some reason.

Aw yeah, opening up with wanted dead. I got it cause I heard it's like Devil may cry and has the feeling of a ps2 Era game. Since I'm a huge fan of the ps2 Era I just had to have it. Luckily one of my gamestops had it for 15 bucks so I picked it up. The last game I played that felt like a ps2 game was Gungrave Gore and I kinda wish I didn't trade it away. It's a pretty cool mindless 3d Run and Gun type third person shooter. BTW Awesome Pickups.

Honestly its a sin we dont have 6 face buttons (and maybe a dreamcast VMU like screen or removable device) as standard in all controllers, games keep adding more menus and functions, we need more buttons and screens to access them lol.
There are already so many buttons on modern controllers that my wife is overwhelmed 😅

OK so as you are probably more than well aware of Sega Saturn games are ridiculously expensive. Did you know that there is a workaround you can buy Japanese or international versions of those games all you have to do is get a mod cartridge that you put in the cartridge slot and then you can play those other games.

Once I found out it was basically a game of attrition where you just unlock stuff over time that makes it easier, after you die over and over I lost interest pretty fast. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of rogue lite progression in general, so if you are, you might dig it more than I did.

Yeah i work at walmart and in our parking lot we have a GameStop and i always go in on breaks and lunch to see what they have new. And they know me in there and the guy says we just got some gamecube and ps vita games. U interested. I said yeah. Normally there is nothing special. Im glad GameStop is taking retro games in now. Im more of a retro collector then modern. Its good when they get wii u or ps3 or games that i missed along time ago. So its always good to check what GameStop has . Never know if someone will bring in that rare gamecube or ps vita game and they will sell it cheap. Wish GameStop would actually sell more games and quit focusing on funko pops and toys. The name is GameStop. Should be your last stop for games. Not funkostop. Lol
My gamestops all take in retro games, but they ship them all off to other locations. They don't sell anything older than thr PS3 era... and even that is only a handful of games.
