It’s very close, but I think PS1 and PS2 is better because there’s a lot of games on there that you can only get on those systems and I grew up with those systems so they’ll always have a special place in my heart but the PS4 has an amazing collection but they’re pretty much neck and neck

So Ive had a steam deck, legion go. But considering a Ps portal. Would you recommend the portal? Or should i stick with the other consoles and remote play on those ?

RNG! Love you vids congrats on the Rolex! Recently the PS4 has moved to my favorite spot i have been buying up all the games i can. Recently beat Dredge one of my favorites, also finished a Black Saad Under Your Skin great detective where choices matter ,working through the Mafia remake games. I have Disco Elysium, arcade paradise, Inside and 70 plus other games waiting to get played. Definitely love all things PlayStation the PS4 simply has more to offer at a great price (for now). Keep it up RNG!

Definitely the best modern era console. Many will say the switch, but I'm not s big fan of modern indie 2D stuff etc. And i think thats one big reason why people choose the switch, HUGE variety library. But ps4.. damn. Remakes and amazing exclusives.

IMO the best gaming system ever was the Vectrex by GCE. It was released at the pinnacle of technology in 1982, which back then, consisted mostly of paper clips, rubber bands and bubblegum. Okay enough sarcasm, I agree with your choice RNG, there are many, many, many games on the PS4, ("pathetic Police Academy movie reference") that I know I will be playing for many years, so perhaps the PS4 is the best system to collect for in 2025. The Nintendo Switch would be my 2nd choice because of the durability of the SD cards vs. plastic discs. Not even close. Imo. The series X will play the vast majority of games you mentioned plus 600 360 games and the very best of the original Xbox like Otogi, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Crimsons Skies.. all in stunning HD with zero load times. As much as Xbox is taking it on the chin atm due to shortsighted business practices,, “cumulatively” they created a wonderful machine.

I'd have to agree. The only system close in volume might be PS2. It had a lot of variety too. Would you mind sharing what camera/mic you use? I'm trying to find a good one and yours does great with focus and sound.

I love the ps4. Great console to collect for. But id say switch might be litte better. I know switch dont have god of war and uncharted and last of us. But switch has old Nintendo and new Nintendo. All the MegaMan games as well. All the bayonetta games. Zelda and Metroid prime and dread. Limited run games releases games on there as well as ps4. I have terra trilogy on yhe switch. And u can play them on the go. i know there is PlayStation portable. Or the psp or vita. And to me. There is so many games on the switch not just American releases. But also pal and japanese and its region free. You can get so many compilations on the switch. I know PlayStation runs better. So it comes down to who has better exclusives. And i know with Nintendo you get all the Pokemon ganes. Cant get those on PlayStation. Even though im not much of a pokemon person but those games are always expensive. And one of the best games. Bayonetta 2 is a Nintendo exclusive. So lots of like limited run and super rare on the switch. So nothing wrong with collecting both. Switch and ps4. I just lean more towards switch. I also look at past generations. Like when it was ps2 vs xbox vs GameCube. Ps2 ran the worst out of the three. Or when it was ps3 vs xbox 360 vs wii. Xbox 360 ran better before red ring of death. But ps4 does have great games. And like marvel vs Capcom arcade collection. It was only released on the switch and the ps4. Not ps5 but can be played on a ps5. Now its gonna be on xbox one. But i just think i lean more to switch. But ps4 has incredible games that you shouldnt miss

This is great! Definitely gonna check out more of the catalogue. Btw, the VGA game, The Eternal Castle, is actually one step down in fidelity from VGA called CGA, with only the colors you see (blue, pink, black, and white) THE MORE YOU KNOW 🌠

Also don't get me wrong ps4 is great I'm literally playing Kingdom hearts 1 on my pro to Platinum it now but That being said I generally prefer The switch for rpgs / jrpgs a lot of those games I like got switch physicals but not ps4 You should get / try cassette beast on switch It's a monster catching game like pokemon or digimon

You can get a copy of bloodborne game of the year version From europe with the dlc on the Disc

Your argument would have been better if you named more affordable games, i know you named a few like bbloodborne and uncharted, you actually mentioned PT which is impossible to get and then games from fro LR which are expensive if you miss the original print

12:09 I absolutely love brutal legend. Also has lemmy voicing a character tim curry is the main villians voice. It is an open worldequse rowm-around but the gameplay you are thinking is that at points it's kinda like a mix of like command and conquer or the starcraft real time strategy tower defense type thing where you also control jack black and fight.

Also the ps4 has all the yakuza games except for 8. Before that you had to have a ps2 and ps3 to play them all. The Jak and dexter ports the rachet and clank ports and reboot, brought back all the crash bandicoot games and added a new one to the series brought remaster of spyro the list is endless.

I absolutely love and adore my PS4 and will rank it as my numero dos 3D console (Blood Borne, Dark Souls 3, Destiny, GOW, Niohs, Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Ghost of Tsuschima). I will put 360 above it as my favorite 3D console (Oblivion, Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effects, Gears, Dark Souls, Halos, Transformers War/Fall of Cybertron) by the slimmest of margins. Shall throw Sega Genesis in there as my favorite 2D console (Gaiares, Phantasy Stars, Golden Axes, Strider, Shinobis, M.U.S.H.A, Streets of Rages, Shining Forces).

I’ve had every console generation and the spectrum! Dreamcast had the best launch. Mario 64 absolutely blew me away on the n64. Amazing 3d graphics and when you got stuck you rang the Nintendo hotline and a guy told you exactly what to do!😂 but it tailed off. So yeah I guess ps4 wins

Great video, but I think you have the PS4 credit for a lot of games that are also on the Switch.

I can't give that title to the PS4 because the system is deep in everything I hate about modern gaming. BUT.............. by this point PS4 just might be my largest game library, and it's still growing. The variety of games is huge. It has a wealth of fun and obscure games to collect. One of my favorite games ever, Ys VIII, is a PS4 game. And it has brought everything full circle, giving us the largest amount of great 2D games since the 90's. I never would have thought at first when I got it in 2017....... but it's truly a fitting way for me to sunset my journey in the world of video games. So while I can't agree with you, I can't disagree with you. 😎

Star Trek Bridge Crew VR is amazing. Lots of fun... the pressure not to let your crew down is wild.

Its fun and all, but tons of the Games you showed are now almost impossible to find at reasonable price...

PS4 is SO SLOW ... PS5 is a great quality of life upgrade.

I kept meaning to come back and comment on this video. I watched it almost right away and the entire story had me hooked. Loved hearing some insight into what makes RNG gamer tick... Literally LOL. It's not a purchase I could personally make, but I don't have an experience like yours so I couldn't say definitively whether or not I'd be willing to spend that much. We grew up poor as well. Not a lot of opportunity in our small community, but there was always lots of love in our family. I'm so incredibly happy for you that you made not only your dad's dream come true for you, but it also turned out to be your own. Very heartfelt and touching. Enjoyed this immensely

I really love this video. Yeah so I'll name you a console just as impressive. Sega Genesis. It brings the arcade experience home & it has the best sport titles, 2D fighting games & beat em ups.

Oh neat, I’m like 190 hours into my first play of the Witcher 3, about halfway through completing Toussaint. What a ride it’s been. On the topic of limited companies, I wanna see lrg port Holy Diver (Famicom) over. I’ll bet the estate would bite. 🤷

I agree the PS4 is my favorite console of all time! It just had so many great indie games and it's really the console that made me renew my passion and love for gaming. Lots of great games. One I really really love on the PS VR that gets overshadowed by astrobot is Moss.

It's for same reason they forced people to own electric cars it's about control . You simply don't own the game they can take it off anytime they want and they can sell it at any price they want .

This review helped me pick one up today. I have three kids, this allows me to play the games I want like Kingdom Deliverance 2 without them having to hear a bunch of F bombs and see all the violence. A definte plus for a parent.

That's a 100% legit answer. I'd probably roll it all into PS5 via backwards compatibility, then pick the PS5 Pro to agitate the argument even more 😆 Nice call out for Vblank too. I bought that and the Vita version back then. A couple lesser known roguelites I love are Mystery Chronicles: One Way Heroics and Swords of Ditto. Both on PS4 and both had limited print releases.

Glad you made this video. I tend to overlook the PS4 but you are right. I have so many good memories of it.

I agree with every word you said. You can find at least one amazing game from every possible genre on the ps4. If you could only have one system to play games on, the ps4 is the easy front runner for me

I vote for Switch all day. All games you mentioned are there (except first party from sony). There library goes all the way back to arcade games w their arcade archives. Yeah....... Switch

Although I consider the PS2 to be the greatest console of all time (I grew up with this console), you make an excellent argument for the PS4 being the greatest. You cannot deny how extensive and diverse the library is for it! I added some more of the games you shared to my list and plan to go back and watch some of your older videos to make sure that I didn't miss any more PS4 recommendations. Why? Because I value and respect your opinion and thoughts when it comes to video games. Thanks for sharing your thoughts brother!

I say this about the PS5. With a combined library and more power. The only reason I personally pick the PS5 is the controller. I feel like when it’s utilized the dualsense truly is next gen.

Agreed! The PS4 is the true sequel to the PS2 in my opinion. The imports alone got me back into modern collecting.

The PS4 is my biggest video game library and I legitimately go out of my way to not buy for it because I felt like I was being a fanboy. As it turns out, there is a reason I have so many 😂
