@rng gamer I still loved Fallout 4 even with some of its technical issue. I look at it as more than an fps, it’s more of an action rpg. The big draw of the game is it’s story, and it’s environmental storytelling and really takes more than 5 hours to really appreciate that. I love the option of VATS because you can roll your hits based on your stats and gear but it’s totally skippable if it’s not your thing. If you are facing a ton of enemies it can be fun to plan out your attacks then watch them unfold in an action ballet. The game isn’t perfect, and just may not be your thing. If you like post apocalyptic stylish designed worlds it’s one of the game series plenty of others aimed to emulate. If you’re sick of the setting it just may not be the game for you.

I can totally see how someone would love it. I put a ton of time into Fallout 3 (I think I got every achievement), and I found it to be pretty forgettable and uninteresting. I have Fallout: New Vegas in the backlog, and if I don't like it, then I'll know the series just isn't for me.
Thank you for your comment. I always appreciate thr insight of others.

Sonic Chaos! Blast from the past - though I had it for the master system. I got the game for my birthday and I thought my brother had faked the box with a pretend cover initially as I didn't beleive i had it. Yeah, It's not a particually great sonic game, I remember it feeling different to play from the others, but it's kind of a rose-tinted nostalgia game for me - so it was good to be reminded of it!

Another great video. Fun to hear your takes on all these games. You’re very good at explaining the high and low points, and your points are well-reasoned.
I had a 3DO system back in the 90s. I did not have Escape From Monster Manor. But I enjoyed some of the other games, like the pack-in “Crash and Burn.” There were issues with the core gameplay and movement. But I liked the concept of a combat racer. And in the days before the Wipeout series, this served the idea well enough for me. And of course, the 3DO version of Road Rash was very nicely done. Especially the licensed soundtrack, which oddly was confined to the menus.
All that said, Star Control II was quite the epic game - and I think the 3DO release was the only console version.
As for the Atari collection, my thoughts are very similar to yours. I actually grew up with the 2600 as a kid, in the pre-NES era, and even I struggle to replay most of the early console titles. Though there are some standouts as you said. And third parties like Activision and Imagic certainly had some great releases, though not included here.

      @RNGGamerYT  10 месяцев назад +1

Thank you for the wonderful comment! I really enjoy the 3DO and just purchased a few more games for it. I've still never played all the way through crash and burn... I actually don't even own it.
Thanks for saying I'm good at explaining things. All of my videos are unscripted, and it's all off-the-cuff with just a few notes.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video.

For what it’s worth - a similar form of extemporaneous speaking is a central part of my job, also typically based on notes, an outline, or bullet points. But in my case, it’s in the context of dialogue with clients or co-workers, rather than a video per se. To me, it comes down to thoroughly understanding the content. Ultimately, the notes are mainly there as a framework for the conversation, and to remind me what to cover.
I still recall - Crash and Burn has some ultra-cheesy FMV bits in the character select screen. Totally over the top, but the very inclusion of filmed segments was pretty remarkable for its time. Granted, I had already seen something similar on a few Sega CD titles. But this had more colors on-screen, and looked like actual people! In ridiculous costumes! Haha.

I beat Lollipop Chainsaw recently, and it was my first Suda51 game. Killer7 has been in my backlog for a while now and based on your time with the game I will be playing it next! Fallout 4 was the most lackluster of the series for me (I have not/will not play 76). I will say modding it on my PC made it much more enjoyable, but the base game was underwhelming. The first two Bayonetta games are two of my all-time favorites, but Bayonetta 3 was such a disappointment. I got at least Platinums on all chapters in the first two games (not good enough to try for all Pure Platinums!), but with 3 I just played through it once without bothering to try for good medals and I was done. Also, the Bayonetta Origins thing was just a different way to put out a demo, no need to play it to finish Bayo 3! It actually wasn't even there in the game when it first came out.

Hey RNG. I love your channel. The production and content quality is great and I really hope the algorithm gives you more love because your work deserves it. That's how I stumbled on you so hopefully that sub count continues to tick up.
I've been going through your catalog and now the backlog videos and this is the first one that I've had a major disagreement on, that being Fallout 4. I think it's mainly due to just personal preferences, as many of the things you listed that you don't like about Fallout games, I do enjoy, like the dialog, saving and trying various things to see how different scenarios play out etc. But I think you hit on the most important point - it's a Bethesda game and they ship buggy messes with bad UIs that have to be cleaned up by mod makers. Any Bethesda game is going to be far more enjoyable on PC and heavily modded, I wouldn't play any of them on console as a huge fan of their games. Also, even among Bethesda enjoyers FO4 doesn't have a great reputation, but I actually thought it was really good and probably plowed a good 150 hours into it.
Anyway, back to watching the rest of your videos. Keep it up!

    • @RNGGamerYT

Thanks so much! I am thrilled that you're enjoying the channel. I hope the algorithm helps me out, too. 😁
I know I'm in the minority on Fallout 4. But I try to be honest with everyone. It really isn't for me. There's a bit of worry knowing that people are going to be upset with you for not loving the same games they do. Of course, there are a lot of people in the comments talking about how they felt all alone because no one felt the same as them, and it was nice to see someone else with the same issues they had.
I'm sure it's much better on PC.
I really do appreciate you going back and watching those old videos!

Sonic Chaos was not the first Sonic game made 'Just for handhelds'!
The game was made for the Sega Master System and ported to /released at the same time as the Game Gear version (as so many Game Gears were).
The first Sonic Game made specifically for handhelds was Sonic Advance (Game Bay Advance) released almost ten years after Sonic Chaos AND the first Sonic game to appear on a handheld was the original Sonic The Hedgehog in 1991.

It sounds like the Fallout series is just not something you are into. Understandable. I played through the whole game and all the DLC. Must have spent a year or more just playing that game. You can switch to 3rd person view- which I prefer. And the game really opens up when you get the power armour upgrades and start building communities. I did not have many glitch issues, but I play slow and methodical like I assume one would do in a very dangerous post-apocalypse world. I found it interesting- like in other Bethesda games, how the world interacts without you. For example I was crouched in stealth one time and a Deathclaw walked right by me and tore apart a raider settlement. I mopped up afterwards and just felt the living breathing environment was unique. This happens even more often when you build settlements and they get attacked as you open up more of the game an align with factions. Also, the side stories are very interesting- each companion has a side story you can work through and in the end they are more effective in battle. Then the radio opens up more side stories and you eventually find out what has happened to every other vault in the wasteland. Of that attention to detail and in depth lore is what makes the Fallout series so effective. Cheers.

I enjoyed reading your comment and seeing the way you approached things. It's way different mindset to the way I think and want to play a game.

I feel stifled by linear games. I don't care for SHMUPS (save for Ikaruga-that was awesome) and I do not like FPS games. But I can play adventure games for years. I spent nearly 2 years playing Skyrim. The I played Fallout 76 for 2-3 years as well. I love open world games and creating my own path.
Whereas my friend loves emotionally engaging games with a great story and character development (Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption).

my brothers favorite games are the bethesda fallouts annnnnd yeah idk they all just feel like lesser elder scrolls games to me lol, honestly prefer the original turn based fallout games. 4 i've played the least and ; the first 3 hours of the game i somehow managed to pick a direction where i encountered zero people, zero towns, and when i finally did it was a town of just sentry bots lol. i'd also played the xbone version and picked some silly mods for shits and gigggles : completely broke my save by installing a 'terminator companion' mod that unless you read the fine print, spawns in an unkillable enemy every 10 minutes making the game pretty much impossible to explore. also yeah the biggest problem with the prior bethesda games was the jilted conversation system, so on paper having a dynamic camera during the conversations seems like a gigantic improvement until you realize the dialog options are dumbed down, your characters have no personality, and it just looks awful. like the conversations in mass effect 1 look leagues ahead of whats going on in fallout 4 lol.

Great video. Bayonetta 3 was a huge disappointment definately. For all the reasons you mentioned and the combat being focused around summoning massive beasts. This meant the camera was usually zoomed way out and combat felt designed around that mechanic, not as fluid as it was before. I spent more time staring at my summoned beast's ass then seeing what my character was doing. There was some clunky platforming and sub par side scrolling stages as well and alot of filler as you said. It really didnt hold up visually either. Really enjoyed the first 2 games.
Could never get into bethesda games, unless Doom 2016 and the newer Wolfenstein games are part of that developer. I think bethesda probably just published those games. The games they made were super clunky and wooden feeling with no real passion or personality. All of them. Loved Dishonored 2 and the expansion, but not sure if they actually made those directly. Skyrim,Oblivion and Fallout series I found super boring with shit combat. Tried to get into them. Beat Skyrim and Oblivion but it was a slog. I saw my friend get overpowered and do some hilarious looking, glitchy shit, but as far as the main gameplay I found it very mundane. Very simple shitty combat in the Oblivion and Skyrim games too. A little better in Fallout but not by much.
Sonic Chaos looks like alot of blind jumps and slower platforming, which I always thought defeated the purpose and killed the pacing of the sonic games. The first game had this problem and some of the others. Freedom Planet is a newer series which mostly got the pacing right, as did Sonic Mania. Multiple paths through a stage so you never really hit a dead end, just keep moving. Triple Trouble was one of the few Game Gear games I completed and I remember that one being pretty solid for the platform.
Playing random games and beating them sounds TOUGH but very cool concept. Do you ever post up any of your playthroughs or add commentary? Still catching up. That Atari 50 seemed really well put together, with all the extra content. I checked it out briefly through Switch emulation while picking out some of the easy kills.

Dude! Thanks for going back and watching some of my other videos. I really appreciate it.
Those games you mentioned above were developed by other companies and published by Bethesda. That's probably why we liked them more than Fallout and Skyrim. It seems like we have very similar tastes in games.
I have only had a newer computer for capturing gameplay footage for about 6 months. So, a lot of these videos, I just captured the minimum to save harddrive space.
However, I have been recording some of my recent live streams. I've started editing the latest one down into a highlight reel. So, that will be like watching me play an entire game.
Other than that, I have some 1CC shmups vids for my member exclusive videos. I tried doing some gameplay videos when I first started up the channel, but people weren't really into them.

Its good to see someone not going along with the games that are supposed to be good. It shows that the channel is genuine. Alot of channels parrot eachother on here. I tried Starfield and it was more of the same shit. I dont plan to go back to that one either.
Right. The HDD space can get pretty expensive too. I capture everything I play these days, so it adds up. Nice. I usually check out live stream content when its later posted to RUclips since my routine is all over the place.

If you thought Fallout 4 was glitchy when you played it, imagine what it was like Day 1 lol it was pretty bad, but some of the glitches were hilarious. If you play Bethesda games, it helps to find some humor in the glitches.
Fo4 wasn't as good as Fallout 3 or New Vegas, though. I reserved Fallout 4 and was so excited for it, but ended up abandoning the game faster than any Bethesda game I've ever played. There were many little details I didn't like that added up to it being my least favorite Fallout game, such as the change in art direction and the overall tone (you mentioned how you enjoyed the introduction of color into 4, but I actually prefer the gloomy palette of 3). I think what actually made me give up on 4 were the Minutemen events--all that drove me crazy. Looking back, Fallout 4 is a huge reason why I believe the 8th console generation is the most disappointing console generation of all time.
And it doesn't sound like you were a big fan of Fallout 3, but it was huge in 2008: ambitious FPS RPG for its time, back when open-world games weren't a cliché. Fo3 had more flexibility than other games, and even Fo4 as well--you could make more decisions and do more things that would otherwise be forbidden in 4. Fallout 3 offered so much that other games didn't back then, and I really believe a big part of why a game like Fallout 4 doesn't deliver like the Bethesda games before it is because a lot of developers have integrated open-world and RPG elements into so many games that we've all played since to the point that there's nothing special about those elements anymore.
K7 has been on my list for some time now, but after hearing you emphasize how strange it is, I'm having reservations. The older I get, the less patience I have for weird stuff haha. I do appreciate the heads-up on that!

I'm sure Fallout 4 was a complete disaster when it first came out. I couldn't have handled it 😅
I actually played Fallout 3 when it was the hot new thing. I might have actually played it on release day or close to it. I enjoyed it, but not as much as a lot of other people did. I think when people hear me say I wasn't the biggest fan of something that they think I'm bashing it or saying, it's terrible. It's not that at all.
At the time, so many people were saying it was the greatest game they'd ever played... best game of all time. Those sorts of comments. I thought it was like an 8/10. Very good, but not the best of all time. And compared to Oblivion, I didn't think it was even in the same ballpark.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment!

@@RNGGamerYT The funniest glitch on Fallout 4's release was this long awkward pause between dialogue: the characters would just stand and stare at each other. I remember people hating it, but it made me lmao because the timing was usually excellent.
And hey, an 8/10 is still great for Fallout 3! I totally understand if Bethesda games aren't your cup of tea, though. I think we've all got games we don't prefer as much as others--can't think of any specific ones right now, but I could easily rant about modern games in general lol
You put a lot of thought into your content, and us viewers appreciate that! Cheers, RNG!

As a fallout fan I didn't like Fallout 4 lol. Then again I'm a bit of an old head who just wishes fallout would go back to being turn based. (New vegas is pretty good though)

The first 8-Bit Sonics (Sonic and Sonic 2) are different from the Genesis games. The first one shares 2 level names, but even level designs are different. Sonic 2 8-Bit is totally different.
Neither are great, IMO, but don't play Sonic 2's GG version. The screen crunch makes a challenging game nearly unplayable. Master System version is a bit easier to play, but not great.
Triple Trouble is best, but the 16-bit remake is better, still.

btw, rename the atari video to something more evergreen man! many will be searching for a video just like yours, but it won't easily show up without an SEO optimized title.

@@RNGGamerYT "Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration - Gameplay & Review for Every Game [Timestamped]"
I'd work around this template, basically the closer you can get to the official game title helps a lot (unless its too long, like in this case xD)
It also looks like no one has done the same with timestamps, you got the game titles there, so might help to timestamp them too!
of course this is general advice on evergreen content, atari 50 is definitely not a "best seller" video, but it is still a piece of evergreen content, that could generate views for decades, instead of weeks or months!

"Atari 50 - All 104 Games Played & Reviewed (with Timestamps)" maybe this variant could fit more info / CTR, in a shorter length.
