    Tips for delivering to Walmart. Google map your store. Look at front of store if you can and look for what side of the store says grocery. Also most of the time the GM side of the store is by the auto center. Most docks are marked GM or GRO. Those are the best tips I can give you.

      Also, usually on single dock stores your trip sheet will say like “two inside docks for grocery, two outside for GM” or something like that. I’ve yet to do reefer, I’ve been doing dedicated out of Brookhaven for a while now but we only do GM and non refrigerated grocery

    Great description. I stay at the destination or 1/2 way back for 8 then head back. If u send an accurate eta, they will preplan u. 34hrs is a long time to sit. That’s why I recap until I go on hometime somewhere. Also if I look at the overhead view on Google maps u can see where all the coolers are. That’ll give u an idea which dock is grocery. Lastly, after 3pm, generally I’ll call ahead or just walk around. The receiver doesn’t use ntransit as much as the shipper. Great Plains where the roads are straight and flat and traffic is minimal.

    Have you ever experimented with split sleeper intervals and recapturing hours to avoid 30 hour resets and keep moving when you’re out there on your own?

    • @OldBastardOnaHarley
      @OldBastardOnaHarley 8 месяцев назад +1

      With elogs, my understanding is a solo driver can split in the sleeper berth (line-2) one time; but after 11 hours driving you gotta go off-duty line-1 for 10 hours, period. 70 hours on-duty in 8 days is a 34 hour reset. Period. Even if you run out of hours halfway across the frigging George Washington Bridge.

    Kevin: When you're running peddle loads for Walmart, do you get stop pay on top of miles?
    In 1993 I was driving for Shaffer pulling reefer, of course. I caught a produce load out of California, 3 pickups; a farm outside of Fresno, one at Stockton, one north of Sacramento. Nine deliveries starting at Georgia, empty out at Maine. 3900 paid miles, 10 paid stops @$25 each. Grossed a little over $1900 in a week and a half; that's 1993 dollars. Finished my last pickup early Friday afternoon, made the run to Georgia mostly over the weekend, for first delivery Tuesday morning. Empty Saturday. You don't catch that kind of gravy every day.
    But that stop pay sure made it worth it. Just wondering if you're getting that stop pay?

    Are you making more money ?I don’t like reefer though that’s it. I really despise it or anything it’s just that I don’t mind it the way I do it every once in a while but I do it enough to understand that if it was like your regular thing, it’s just another way to catch downtime and downtime sucks

      We prefer dry van. Reefers are another level of noise.

      Driver, in many cases, will give up a penny/mile to cover the deductible should a single pallet be compromised.

    i'm 45 seconds in and have to stop. it hurts to listen to this. dude, you're describing the shittiest driving job besides hauling for dollar general or something like that. you're being pimped out to do walmart runs at bottom dollar. grab a reefer and hit as many stores as you can that day. i did it for 3 months about 5 years ago and i'll never do it again. you're not in the trucking business right now. you're in the training wheels stage. no matter what you think might be good about that, walk away and go drive a truck.
