This is the best Benelli M4 disassembly and reassembly video not only on RUclips but on the whole internet! Thank you so much, this is invaluable and really well made. Well done on some of the camera angles too by the way!
This is a fantastic video, but I think it's missing the part about removing the hammer pin c clip. The fire control group portion starts with that removed, but never shows how to do it.
Yeah, that section starts with "now that the c clip is removed", but doesn't show how to do it. Immediately before that, you are discussing other parts of the shotgun.
@madcatjoe gotcha. Yeah, that was a good catch. All you need to do to remove the clip is to essentially pry it off, starting with one tab with a pick or screwdriver and work your way around the clip.
One little but useful trick I would like to add which I've seen no one use with respect to mag tube and recoil spring dis and reassembly. Simply thread a screwdriver or cleaning rod through the spring and retaining snap ring or ring nut and push the whole thing into the tube without the need to handle the spring like a snake! Same goes for removal...Put that screwdriver or cleaning rod through the snap ring and the spring, then remove the snap ring with all in complete control!!
Great video, thank you! Question --- when you tilt your m4 up and down upon reassembly, do you hear the pistons click at all? Just noticed this with mine .... new M4 owner
Thanks! Honestly, I never really paid attention to it, but I'm sure you could hear them move if everything is cleaned and operating properly. They are free-movong by design, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Thanks for the informative video. I recently purchased this shotgun and didn’t know how it went together and you demonstrated it and more 😂 I have a question relating to lubrication points however; a small container of oil was included in the box and the manual mentions applying the appropriate amount, but I’m unclear as to where the required lube points are and how extensive the oil is to be applied? I would be grateful for any pointers you can impart to me. Thanks again for the video and Merry Christmas!
Off the top of my head, I'd say the bolt, carrier, trigger assembly, recoil assembly. I use as little oil as possible. Shotguns are dirty shooters and the oil attracts and holds the dust, which of course leads to other issues.
Hi Andy. Thanks alot for the great video. Thanks to you, Im now quite comfortable to work with by brand new M4. But i have a problem that i wonder if u know how to solve. The pic rail that came from the factory always comes loose after maybe 75 or 100 rounds. Any sights i have mounted becomes floppy. All 5 screws come loose! I tried Permatex Blue Gel, but it didnt work [Im not even sure it bonded properly]. Any expert advice?
No problem at all! For your problem, I'd first make sure EVERYTHING is clean and degreased. Take the screws out, the rail off, and soak them in acetone. Wipe down the receiver and inside the threaded holes with acetone also. When you reassemble, make sure again that everything is clean and torque them down. If that still doesn't fix the issue, I'd use red locktite.
@@rw4669 eventually yes. We have a few other things in the works right now, but I see quite a few improvements that could be made over the other options out there currently.
I installed a MI handguard and when I reassembled it I can see and hear the gas piston shake up and down with a bolt held open when I close it the piston moves up a little bit but does not move. Is that normal? I don't remember what it was like and some people are giving mixed answers online.
Awesome video but I am having an awful time with the shell stop pin. Any idea what could be stopping it? Going from the bottom and using a roller punch pin
Yeah, that's one of the more difficult pieces to reassemble. If the shell stop level is not 100% perfectly aligned, the pin won't go through. You need about 4 or 5 hands it seems like to hold everything perfect. I recommend to just keep working at it and eventually things will click into place.
Thanks for the great video. Question for you. I see you got about 5 rotations on the butt stock to get it on. I get about the same before I feel resistance as well but the stock is really easy to twist off. With the trigger group in, I can feel it click back and forth if I twist the stock all assembled. Will it hurt anything to give it one more rotation at this point to put it on a bit tighter? Thanks.
I know I clean mine a lot more often than required, but that's just me. If you're not comfortable with what you are seeing on your own, just clean it. Its an easy and quick process.
I'd think it would ultimately depend on the QD mount you installed, but if it's one that just goes into the slot at the rear of the stock, it'd be fairly easy. Remove the trigger assembly, unscrew the stock from the receiver, swap out the sling plate for the QD plate, and then reassemble in the reverse. If it's one that would be installed between the receiver and the stock (like the Mesa Tactical), it'd be the exact same procedure, but you'd put the plate further forward and leave the sling plate where it currently sits.
@PrecisionTKS It’s Turkish and can be translated online. He said: “I have a question for you. In these types of rifles, problems such as jamming and not being able to eject the empty cartridge occur due to loose pins after such detailed maintenance. I wonder if you have encountered such a situation in the M4. Thank you for such a beautiful, archival video.”
Thanks for the great video. Sorry if i am doubling up in the comments, but I'm not sure where my last comment went... I see it takes about 5 rotations to get the field stock back on. It is about the same for me before i start to feel resistance. However, with the trigger group in, i can twist the stock with an audible click. The tab from the trigger group keeps it from rotating, but it does move. Will it hurt anything to give it one more rotation at this point? It is still fairly easy to rotate and get 6 rotations on the stock. Thanks in advance
All good. I'd have to see it in person to know for sure, but as long as your assembly can handle the 6th rotation without binding or breaking, I don't see why it would cause any problems. The stock itself is a fairly "independent" piece and isn't a piece of a critical assembly. Your outcome will also be dependent upon how the threads are exactly indexed on the receiver.
@PrecisionTKS appreciate the feed back. Yeah it is fairly easy to get the 6th rotation in. Does even go to 7th rotation with a bit more effort. Does seem to need a bit more force but cam still get there by hand. I think I will just leave it at 6th. Thanks again
My trigger group tongue/lifter isn’t loading the shells into the chamber! I put some oil on the spring that hold it but didn’t fix it! What should i do
I'd have to see it in person to know for sure. It could be a weak/damaged spring, something may not have been installed/assembled properly, there may be extra friction somewhere else in the system, etc.
Great video, question, how do you like the traditional stock? Is the grip comfortable to hold? Is the LOP long? I prefer longer LOP. Also, is the recoil pad comfortable?
Personally, I still like my tactical style shotguns to have a pistol grip of some sort but for all intents and purposes the traditional stock is a nice one. It has, at least what feels to me, like a slightly longer-than-average LOP, but is still comfortable. I don't really have anything negative to say about it other than I just don't like that overall style for tactical shotguns, but that's my personal preference and shouldn't really play a role in anyone else's decisions. With that being said, the recoil pad is just that: a recoil pad. It's a 12 ga shotgun that kicks like a 12 ga shotgun. Lol. I don't really feel like it's any better or worse than any other recoil pads out there for the most part. It is a slightly harder rubber than some others I have shot, but that doesn't really affect my shooting.
I can't say that I have done it myself. For the simple reason of not wanting to damage the receiver finish or slipping and potentially damaging something, I would recommend taking it off first.
Wanted to ask: That’s an 11703 and it looks like in your video that it has the 3 position recoil tube for use with the collapsing stock. I wanted to verify if that’s the case if you can. Great vid btw, very easy to follow
Yes, that's the case. It is the 11703 model and mine came with the 3 position tube. Why? I honestly have no idea. The stock itself is non-adjustable, so the tube offers no real benefit over a non adjustable tube from what I have seen. Thanks! I'm glad yhe video was clear.
I would assume the majority of the content would apply, but I can't guarantee it 100%. I'm sure Benelli has patents on certain components and I'm sure Panzer would either have to infringe on those patents or pay a hefty royalty for the design to be 100% identical.
@@PrecisionTKS only reason I ask is I wanna get into the semi auto game but without the super large price tag I’ve heard that if you open it all up and clean it out pretty well it’s pretty great for the price but idk maybe I’ll go for the a300 patrol
