I've been using REBUG CFW since 2014 and only recently discovered HEN and decided to make the switch from CFW to HEN. There's a number of different reasons as to why I did this; 1.) HEN's lower ban risk 2.) Generally more supported than CFW with more people still actively supporting/updating it 3.) I can download game backups of insanely overpriced/rare PS3 games and play them just for fun/trophies without worrying about going online with CFW 4.) The account I use goes all the way back to 2014 which includes hundreds and hundreds of games bought, getting my account banned would be devastating for me 5.) I actively play PS5 and play online, again, getting banned would be devastating In conclusion, it all depends what you intend to do with your PS3, if you're someone who wants to go online and mod (shame on you btw) then CFW is more your forte, but if you intend to trophy hunt, play online, play overpriced/rare PS3 games without paying extortionate prices and searching high and low for a rare PS3 game, or just wanting to play PS1/PS2 backups, then PS3HEN is the one for you. Take it from a veteran CFW user :)

Personally I think it depends on what you want to do on your PS3. If you're looking for mods and things like that, cfw is your best bet. But if you're looking to just play games and/or ps1,ps2 or PSP games, you can't go wrong with either. Personally hfw is perfect for me bc I'll still occasionally play games online. But if it's an offline game, a PS2, or ps1 game I can switch to hen no problem. Plus, retroarch works on hen too so I can emulate quite a few games from other systems as well! Similar to you, I can stay online and still access the things I care about so it's a win win for me!😀 If there's any modding I really want to do, I could just do it with RPCS3 on PC
I wanted to ask you a question so am I able to download stand alone emulators like snes and play older playstation games like ps1/ps2/psp using only hen or does it need cfw. Someone told me I can't play snes or the older ps consoles using just hen I would need cfw. Also if so can I copy my ps2 games using discs like how the ps3 does or do they have to be iso's run off a USB.
@@junaidarfaq98 The older PS consoles on hen should work fine. I played a Japanese PS2 game on the latest version of hen last week to confirm this(I have a US PS3). As for standalone emulators, I haven't tried the snes. Genesis didn't work for me but dosbox seems to work. If you can't get a certain standalone emulator like the snes to work, Retroarch should be able to play the game you want with hen. As for PS2 games, you should be able to copy them, but only if your PS3 is a fat or the early slim. Super slims don't work. I tried running a game in the way you described on my super slim and it wouldn't work. If using an ISO doesn't work, there's a program called ps2classicsgui that'll make your game playable on the ps3s hard drive. Just check the compatibility list first to make sure it works! If you're confused on anything I'll make a video of how this works. I was stumped on this myself when I tried it the first time.
Is there any reliable links you could send me for hen and cfw? I tried before on a site and it was down. Was also told to stay away from them for a bit due to hackers, etc. I'm new to everything gaming and so there's that lol. I try to fallow videos as much as possible but then I back out. Just don't know which sites are best to use. I appreciate your reply. Any help and advice I will gladly try and fallow. Thanks again
Update: they no longer ban on the PS3 network. HEN is pretty much obsolete and the best CFW you can get for a fat or 3.55 slim is Rebug 4.84.2 DEX which I have. I can do anything even use remote code execution on some games and do not need to be host of any lobby to do it.
What are your steps to going online before you load a game up I’ve just got Hen and don’t want to get banned haha and do you have to do that clear syncalls cheers
@_nathandavies You aren't going to get banned especially on HEN. People use multiple ps3s on 1 cid with no bans. They only push updates to disable cfw.

Same story i also used cfw 4.82 on my ps3 slim it was happy time but then i wanted to upgrade to 1tb storage when i replaced my ps3 and again try to jailbreak but unfortunately it got ylod it doesn’t turn on Now i bought a new second hand ps3 and put the hdd and i am using HEN now it is good for just playing games❤️

I used hen the first time i jailbreak my ps3 but about 2 months in i downloaded something that messed everything up and i decided to go to CFW because i find it more smooth and more quick. plus everything i download works fine. but i still respect hen, it was my first jailbreak and i was new to it all. i can look back at it now and say "It was pretty good for it's time" and it still is but i think i'll stick to CFW :P
@@soseikiharagatatsu7859 I'm not sure...I could be wrong saying this but it could depend on where did you download the PKG from because some downloads are not safe but considering that you got a black screen it might just be a small bug that Sony is at fault for. Again I can be wrong with this response but if you can bro I recommend you going to CFW. You will like it more
I'm not sure though. I need enable it with every system boot and I don't know if it's only me but I often get freeze system in the process and/or running homebrew like multiman. Edit: found cause of my problem recently. I disabled dynamic fan control function from webman mod and the issue of console freezing when starting homebrew app has gone away.
@@SpawnTrapped was happening to me until I Installed hen toolbox for hard reset and web man light version hasn't occurred after that. Also a tip for hen if you go in and out of multiman use hard reset or just shut it down before entering multiman a 3rd time or more in a row chances are it will black screen and lockup. Hen tool box is also good for cloning your drive and various other tasks not many people talk about it.

And NO I'm very sure s0ny learned from their mess up giving people with 3.55 consoles the ability to do so... So people need to call the ps3 super slim ps4 ps5 hacks there not fully capable to install cfw and never will do full blown firmware which is less buggy
This why I use PS3HEN, its almost Perfect for my Wants!! I say almost bc, while it is the ideal HFW, not many developers well, develop homebrew for it. Atlest the ones I Seriously want. (THANK GOD WEBMAN AND MULTIMAN HAVE HEN EDITIONS) I have to do ALOT of research for the apps I want eed on my PS3 to make sure it can actually run on HEN. I do plan to hopefully get another ps3 so I can use full CFW so I can play other games more easily, but those are mostly offline games. All in all, I'm Satisfied with HEN, and Quite Proud of what I've been able do with it.
@Spawn Trapped Thanks for all the information. Got a ps3 ceche01 mg and it is on 4.80. I only want to play disc ps1-ps3 mainly. Maybe not online (not sure yet) but which software should I go with? Just manly want to keep backwards compatibility on the system and use the rest of its features. I had to start looking into this more because everything is telling me I have to update system. Even certain blurays won't play.
100% couldn't agree more with this video...90% of people will never ever use anything that the CFW can do with developer options and other homebrews for it... ONLY reason i would even bother with CFW is to use ps3xpad and use my PS4 controller. Literally NOTHING else that's a necessity or want that CFW can offer from a pure off-line/ gaming perspective for everyday use. Even with ps3xpad you can run it in HEN but you need to research and know what you're doing. PLUS you can just BUY "brook wingman XE 2" adapter and use a PS5 controller with it.
I do prefer EvilNat. It’s the perfect CFW with web-man. He’s also the developer of SENEnabler, so you know it’s good. He’s also proved to me DEX firmware isn’t rly worth it anymore. HEN works great but I don’t think it deletes CFW/HEN stuff on boot, have you not been banned? I’d be pretty surprised. HEN doesn’t reduce ban risk, unless you delete your cfw history files before shutting down and re-booting your console which is L2 + Triangle. If you’re not doing that it’s already too late, unless Sony has stopped caring.

@@15incher disabling syscalls & deleting history is all you need both are fine as long as you do that before you ever go online, if you cheat in games and get banned though you deserve the ban.
@@deathwishsquish9142 I think Sony doesn't really care anymore and they just have an outdated bot that bans you, but since it's outdated, it's really easy to bypass by disabling syscalls. I think HEN automatically disables syscalls when booting. Really the only thing you have to worry about is people reporting you to Sony, but that's why I always use a name spoofer.
@@user-sn8zx5mv1x Syscalls are not enabled on boot with HEN because you have to run HEN to have cex-like syscalls on in the first place, HEN does not delete app history or syscalls on shut down so there is always a ban risk (it is probably a bot, yes). best to have webman installed and get in the habit of holdin L2 + Triangle before shut down so history is deleted and syscalls are disabled. You actually *can* still wake up to a ban if you're unlucky even though unlikely.
The only thing I miss in HEN are the plugins. Yeah, the thing used for mod menus, but also PS3XPAD. I was actually interested in porting some of my stuff for NFS to PS3 but there's so little info on how to make these plugins I gave up. And now my Slim died so I transitioned to a Super Slim.
@@hlive714 PS3 works fine for the most part with generic HID controllers without any mods! The only problem is that the pressure sensitivity is always at minimum and it doesn't work without PS3XPAD.

All you guys have to do is downgrade your ps3 to 4.84 rebug go from cex to dex and you will always be able to sign in to psn no matter if theres an update or not with you being on dex it bypasses the update I have been on 4.84 rebug dex for over 6 years and I can still sign online to this day you run the same risk of being banned weather your on hen or cfw I would guess its an automated system that flags you depending on what apps you load up for example if you go on multiman and sign in after without clearing history you get flagged as sony can tell thats not an official pkg I just recently had a ps3 console id ban less then a month ago but there easy to come by now days so not a big deal
Nvm my Slim couldn't use CFW so I got HEN instead, HEN is good as well I'm gonna mod with CFW, I'm not really gonna play this online much if at all and I'm just gonna mod any console I get that's modable with CFW anyways since it's the best way to play games provided you don't play online
I never really play any PS games online but I was looking for a program that would allow for me to play ps1 backups. Would this be a good program to use and also is it complicated to get it downloaded/installed and running? Do you have to launch it every time you turn on your ps3 (I don’t mind if you have to). Honestly I just want to be able to play ps1 backup stuff and was curious about it
You don't need a program. PS1 compatibility is built in. Create a PSXISO folder on the root of your PS3 and place the .BIN/.CUE there. Make sure you have cobra enabled.

I have hen on my PS3 3000 slim,which I use frequently to play PS2 backups,while my fats have 4.84 dex,which I use as spares to play PS3 backups currently since ps3 online has a ton of cheaters thanks to hen being accessable to all consoles.
I have a super slim thats on OFW that’s my primary online PS3. My CECHA01 is on CFW 4.84 Rebug Rex and works great. It’s mainly for my ps1, ps2 and PS3 backups and I have my PS3 backups on a portable ssd just in case. I’ll connect to the Internet with my CFW PS3 but I never sign into PSN. Don’t want to risk an account ban or console ban.
Tl/dr You should be fine online as long as you don't mod & do stupid things. I've been modding online for like 8 years or so. Just make sure you disable cfw & clear your history & stuff & aren't using a modded game or plugins to mod stuff in game & you should be fine. Only time I ever got suspended or banned was playing a modded bo2 iso & when I spent an entire day TRYING to get suspended or banned on gta v online. I had to drop billions of dollars before that account was suspended for like 2 weeks & then i was able to go back online. As for bo2 that account is permanently banned from any treyarch stuff. Every other account I've used can still play bo2 online as long as I'm not modding or using a modified iso. I mount whatever game im about to play then use psninja & psnpatch to disable everything before launching the game and then signing in. I always launch the game first because some games require you to do it in that order or it'll freeze.

Mi PS3 super slim was acting as if it has a broken WiFi module which was not the case because when i've upgraded (via pendrive) the system software to 4.89 voila! wireless internet conection was back... but and that's a big but... my perfectly functional and fully charged original controllers are not syncing (i'm using orignal USB cable)... any suggestions? i've already tried reseting the controllers with a clip.
It's been a year but the wifi and the bluetooth transmitter are on the same chip connected to the main board on the console. Could be an issue with that chip, however it wouldn't explain the controllers not syncing via usb
Cfw is way better then hen. Hen dont have many menus an got to enable hen every time. Hen bricks easily cfw you have access to hen stuff so I dont know why change to hen I have had both an GAVE away my hen
You can use mods on hen but not dex or the really good ones. You can get amazing non-hosts that have force host but if you want to be running full sprx menus then i dont think theres a way to do it on hen as far as iv seen
Hey bro I’m new to the whole modding thing and I added hen and multiman to my ps3 super slim. But when I restarted my console it had auto sign in enabled and so I turned it off . Is there a possibility that Sony could ban me for it just being on there ? It was literally no longer than like 5-8 minutes after turning it off . I didn’t download anything , I didn’t play no online games or nothing . I’m just paranoid cause I’m not familiar with these types of softwares and how to avoid bans
Full sprx menus are a thing on HEN. You can access files and replace game files using MultiMan or WebMan (through FTP) if you have them installed onto a HDD (ie not Disk), that includes all SPRX menus that aren’t made for DEX, most menus that are made for CFW work just fine. I just wish non-host menus had better choice in regards to booting or crashing people, because most nonhosts I’ve used on MW2 I can’t even kick or do anything to cheaters & modders without affecting myself in the process either due to the fact it also affects the lobby host. Full Host menus work fine. Just virtually unusable for me due to Australia being a shit hosting place.
@@toroshinobi5230 I doubt it. I’ve used HEN online hundreds of times havent been tickled sideways once. I’m pretty sure it only really affects the CFW users more because of the extra calls compared to HEN, which doesn’t make many other calls at all.
It's true, try it with a new account it won't work. The problem came when PSN started letting you change your gamertag and it broke the new accounts on old cods.

I would be interested in the total runtime of my 2007 fat PS3 and also my 2013 superslim, but I don't intend to install CFW on any of them. I have a slim PS3 with bogus accounts for that purpose and I basically only use it as a bluray reading device for BD-R etc. Would HEN be non-permanent, non-traceable? I could also imagine making actual backups of my PSN games in case they actually do shut down their servers one day for good, and that not even your own library is accessible anymore. In that case I would like to backup all my pkg and rep/rap files for generations to come.

I install Hen little about a year ago since then my controller's no longer work wirelessly I tried every RUclips video to reconnect them but nothing works. Sense then it has not been connected to the internet b I was told if I did and it gets a Sony update it will "brick up" and be useless. It only works with cored controllers. I would hate to uninstall this but playing with a cord controller sucks.😒 the cool thing about this Hen is I can now play every game from the 90's on up. From multiple platforms.

@@altonj95 it’s brand new right now. Most people are on an older firmware so the devs had much more time to develop and change the software to make them more secure and have less kinks. For instance... this is why so many devs make downgrading tools along with tell people to use spoofing, this way there’s no need to push further development. Each new firmware forces more testing for vulnerabilities etc. I’ve also kept in contact with people that have been involved for so with jail breaking and custom fw that they grew bored with it and they’ve never been banned nor suspended. Just know you limits and be CAREFUL.

I'm not sure though. I need enable it with every system boot and I don't know if it's only me but I often get freeze system in the process and/or running homebrew like multiman.
Edit: found cause of my problem recently. I disabled dynamic fan control function from webman mod and the issue of console freezing when starting homebrew app has gone away.

@@SpawnTrapped was happening to me until I Installed hen toolbox for hard reset and web man light version hasn't occurred after that. Also a tip for hen if you go in and out of multiman use hard reset or just shut it down before entering multiman a 3rd time or more in a row chances are it will black screen and lockup. Hen tool box is also good for cloning your drive and various other tasks not many people talk about it.

And NO I'm very sure s0ny learned from their mess up giving people with 3.55 consoles the ability to do so... So people need to call the ps3 super slim ps4 ps5 hacks there not fully capable to install cfw and never will do full blown firmware which is less buggy

I do plan to hopefully get another ps3 so I can use full CFW so I can play other games more easily, but those are mostly offline games.
All in all, I'm Satisfied with HEN, and Quite Proud of what I've been able do with it.
@Spawn Trapped Thanks for all the information. Got a ps3 ceche01 mg and it is on 4.80. I only want to play disc ps1-ps3 mainly. Maybe not online (not sure yet) but which software should I go with? Just manly want to keep backwards compatibility on the system and use the rest of its features. I had to start looking into this more because everything is telling me I have to update system. Even certain blurays won't play.
100% couldn't agree more with this video...90% of people will never ever use anything that the CFW can do with developer options and other homebrews for it... ONLY reason i would even bother with CFW is to use ps3xpad and use my PS4 controller. Literally NOTHING else that's a necessity or want that CFW can offer from a pure off-line/ gaming perspective for everyday use. Even with ps3xpad you can run it in HEN but you need to research and know what you're doing. PLUS you can just BUY "brook wingman XE 2" adapter and use a PS5 controller with it.

HEN works great but I don’t think it deletes CFW/HEN stuff on boot, have you not been banned? I’d be pretty surprised.
HEN doesn’t reduce ban risk, unless you delete your cfw history files before shutting down and re-booting your console which is L2 + Triangle. If you’re not doing that it’s already too late, unless Sony has stopped caring.
It seems you know about this thing. Which console would you think it's best for online? Slim with CFW or Super Slim with HEN? Which one is better for online and safer?
@@15incher disabling syscalls & deleting history is all you need both are fine as long as you do that before you ever go online, if you cheat in
games and get banned though you deserve the ban.

@@deathwishsquish9142 I think Sony doesn't really care anymore and they just have an outdated bot that bans you, but since it's outdated, it's really easy to bypass by disabling syscalls. I think HEN automatically disables syscalls when booting. Really the only thing you have to worry about is people reporting you to Sony, but that's why I always use a name spoofer.
@@user-sn8zx5mv1x Syscalls are not enabled on boot with HEN because you have to run HEN to have cex-like syscalls on in the first place, HEN does not delete app history or syscalls on shut down so there is always a ban risk (it is probably a bot, yes). best to have webman installed and get in the habit of holdin L2 + Triangle before shut down so history is deleted and syscalls are disabled. You actually *can* still wake up to a ban if you're unlucky even though unlikely.
The only thing I miss in HEN are the plugins. Yeah, the thing used for mod menus, but also PS3XPAD.
I was actually interested in porting some of my stuff for NFS to PS3 but there's so little info on how to make these plugins I gave up. And now my Slim died so I transitioned to a Super Slim.

The only problem is that the pressure sensitivity is always at minimum and it doesn't work without PS3XPAD.

All you guys have to do is downgrade your ps3 to 4.84 rebug go from cex to dex and you will always be able to sign in to psn no matter if theres an update or not with you being on dex it bypasses the update I have been on 4.84 rebug dex for over 6 years and I can still sign online to this day you run the same risk of being banned weather your on hen or cfw I would guess its an automated system that flags you depending on what apps you load up for example if you go on multiman and sign in after without clearing history you get flagged as sony can tell thats not an official pkg I just recently had a ps3 console id ban less then a month ago but there easy to come by now days so not a big deal

I never really play any PS games online but I was looking for a program that would allow for me to play ps1 backups. Would this be a good program to use and also is it complicated to get it downloaded/installed and running? Do you have to launch it every time you turn on your ps3 (I don’t mind if you have to). Honestly I just want to be able to play ps1 backup stuff and was curious about it
You don't need a program. PS1 compatibility is built in. Create a PSXISO folder on the root of your PS3 and place the .BIN/.CUE there. Make sure you have cobra enabled.

I have hen on my PS3 3000 slim,which I use frequently to play PS2 backups,while my fats have 4.84 dex,which I use as spares to play PS3 backups currently since ps3 online has a ton of cheaters thanks to hen being accessable to all consoles.

I have a super slim thats on OFW that’s my primary online PS3. My CECHA01 is on CFW 4.84 Rebug Rex and works great. It’s mainly for my ps1, ps2 and PS3 backups and I have my PS3 backups on a portable ssd just in case. I’ll connect to the Internet with my CFW PS3 but I never sign into PSN. Don’t want to risk an account ban or console ban.

You should be fine online as long as you don't mod & do stupid things.
I've been modding online for like 8 years or so. Just make sure you disable cfw & clear your history & stuff & aren't using a modded game or plugins to mod stuff in game & you should be fine. Only time I ever got suspended or banned was playing a modded bo2 iso & when I spent an entire day TRYING to get suspended or banned on gta v online. I had to drop billions of dollars before that account was suspended for like 2 weeks & then i was able to go back online. As for bo2 that account is permanently banned from any treyarch stuff. Every other account I've used can still play bo2 online as long as I'm not modding or using a modified iso. I mount whatever game im about to play then use psninja & psnpatch to disable everything before launching the game and then signing in. I always launch the game first because some games require you to do it in that order or it'll freeze.

you dont have to do the file system rebuild, just press circle and your console will boot like normally

Mi PS3 super slim was acting as if it has a broken WiFi module which was not the case because when i've upgraded (via pendrive) the system software to 4.89 voila! wireless internet conection was back... but and that's a big but... my perfectly functional and fully charged original controllers are not syncing (i'm using orignal USB cable)... any suggestions? i've already tried reseting the controllers with a clip.
It's been a year but the wifi and the bluetooth transmitter are on the same chip connected to the main board on the console. Could be an issue with that chip, however it wouldn't explain the controllers not syncing via usb

Cfw is way better then hen. Hen dont have many menus an got to enable hen every time. Hen bricks easily cfw you have access to hen stuff so I dont know why change to hen I have had both an GAVE away my hen

You can use mods on hen but not dex or the really good ones. You can get amazing non-hosts that have force host but if you want to be running full sprx menus then i dont think theres a way to do it on hen as far as iv seen
Hey bro I’m new to the whole modding thing and I added hen and multiman to my ps3 super slim. But when I restarted my console it had auto sign in enabled and so I turned it off . Is there a possibility that Sony could ban me for it just being on there ? It was literally no longer than like 5-8 minutes after turning it off . I didn’t download anything , I didn’t play no online games or nothing . I’m just paranoid cause I’m not familiar with these types of softwares and how to avoid bans

Full sprx menus are a thing on HEN. You can access files and replace game files using MultiMan or WebMan (through FTP) if you have them installed onto a HDD (ie not Disk), that includes all SPRX menus that aren’t made for DEX, most menus that are made for CFW work just fine. I just wish non-host menus had better choice in regards to booting or crashing people, because most nonhosts I’ve used on MW2 I can’t even kick or do anything to cheaters & modders without affecting myself in the process either due to the fact it also affects the lobby host. Full Host menus work fine. Just virtually unusable for me due to Australia being a shit hosting place.
@@toroshinobi5230 I doubt it. I’ve used HEN online hundreds of times havent been tickled sideways once. I’m pretty sure it only really affects the CFW users more because of the extra calls compared to HEN, which doesn’t make many other calls at all.

It's true, try it with a new account it won't work. The problem came when PSN started letting you change your gamertag and it broke the new accounts on old cods.

I would be interested in the total runtime of my 2007 fat PS3 and also my 2013 superslim, but I don't intend to install CFW on any of them. I have a slim PS3 with bogus accounts for that purpose and I basically only use it as a bluray reading device for BD-R etc. Would HEN be non-permanent, non-traceable? I could also imagine making actual backups of my PSN games in case they actually do shut down their servers one day for good, and that not even your own library is accessible anymore. In that case I would like to backup all my pkg and rep/rap files for generations to come.

I install Hen little about a year ago since then my controller's no longer work wirelessly I tried every RUclips video to reconnect them but nothing works. Sense then it has not been connected to the internet b I was told if I did and it gets a Sony update it will "brick up" and be useless. It only works with cored controllers. I would hate to uninstall this but playing with a cord controller sucks.😒 the cool thing about this Hen is I can now play every game from the 90's on up. From multiple platforms.

Hen is usually pretty safe, but if you just made the account and it gets banned, then make another. You don't have much history in the account anyway

@@altonj95 it’s brand new right now. Most people are on an older firmware so the devs had much more time to develop and change the software to make them more secure and have less kinks. For instance... this is why so many devs make downgrading tools along with tell people to use spoofing, this way there’s no need to push further development. Each new firmware forces more testing for vulnerabilities etc. I’ve also kept in contact with people that have been involved for so with jail breaking and custom fw that they grew bored with it and they’ve never been banned nor suspended. Just know you limits and be CAREFUL.
