  • Maddron Bald Trail to the Albright Grove Loop is approximately 6.7 miles round-trip and takes roughly 3.5 hours to complete. It is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in East Tennessee. The Willis Baxter Cabin (built around 1889) is located less than a mile on the trail. There is also a wooden bridge across a large mountain stream just before the Albright Grove Loop intersection. There isn't a lot of parking at the trailhead, and the trail itself is fairly secluded. The cabin and the wooden bridge are must sees. I would not recommend the loop past the bridge. There isn't much to see.

Albright Cove loop trail is known for lots of big old growth trees. I think i recall that you can acess it from right next to the Jellystone campground. Cross a tiny creek there (no bridge). No official parking. Not sure if its still allowed.

Hi Linda! There were definitely lots of large trees on the trail. I'm not sure about Jellystone Campground. I'm not that familiar with that area, but I'll check it out. Thanks.
