I grew up in Gatlinburg and went to high school there during the late 1960’s. Such a wonderland of natural beauty. Me and several buddies hiked to Mt. LeConte during the fall on numerous occasions. We would work at the lodge on Saturday and Sunday, washing dishes, making up rooms, etc. for our lodging and meals. Just to be in the natural beauty made it worth the strenuous hike. I’ll never forget the sunrise over the cliff tops. I also took folks on horseback up to the lodge as a mountain guide during high school. One day we got a late start for a round trip and it was pitch dark about halfway back to the barn. I simply gave my horse his head and he got us home. I’m very familiar with all these spots mentioned and recommend you go visit if you can. Much different nowadays with tones of commercial development in Gatlinburg which for me ruins it but I understand, it’s the tourist business.
I made a few of these stops this past Feburary. Looks like I need to go back and see more! I believe Clingsman's Dome was closed at that time. The hike to Laurel Falls was a good elevation climb, too. We got there fairly early, and by the time we hiked back down, all the parking spaces were taken.
I am from the Smokies area and have spend a lot of time in the park. Love your video bonus points for finding Spruce Flat Falls. Thank you for encouraging people to get out of the car.

They tore up all 4 corners of the trunk and the lock mech and tail lights of my Taurus and were only seconds away from gaining access to the trunk.
@@CampTravelExplore You think you are out of the big city and out in the semi wild and away from crime. Excellent video! You gave us some great tips for our trip to the smokies this week!
So great, let us know which ones you end up hitting!!
@@CampTravelExplore We ended up hiking the Alum Cave Trail first - amazing! The next day we did Grotto Falls (loved this one as well) & then Laurel Falls, which was super busy. We drove the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail twice & hiked around there as well. It was a wonderful trip!
This is really-well-done, and with high quality video and audio. Super helpful for planning waterfall hikes, hitting visitor centers, and doing other activities that the park, and surrounding area, has to offer.
What time of year did you go? Also, your Amazon link shows that you filmed on a GP H7 - I didn’t realize the quality was that good.
We were there Thanksgiving week! Actually we shoot everything on our channel from an iphone if you can believe it! Currently we have the iphone 12 promax. Thank You for your kind words and supporting the channel!!
My wife and I really enjoyed this video. You have an excellent camera and it made us feel like we were right there. You really did great and it made me want to pack the car up and head that way. Thanks for sharing!!!
We really appreciate that feedback, thank you so much!! We have some great episodes coming out as we have just come back from filming at Yellowstone NP, so stay tuned!!
We were down in GSMNP this past April. Stayed in a cabin in Pigeon Forge and loved it. Clingmans Dome was amazing. You brought up a great point.... only .5 miles on the trail but it is a very steep incline. The view up there is breath taking. We also loved the south entrance to the park near Cherokee.
Yes Clingmans was a tough short hike right! So glad you got enjoy the sights there! Thanks for checking out our channel!!
Thanks for sharing and what a great trip. It has brighten my day.
