    Smoker for 19 years. I started vaping because a friend bought me an e-cigg as a bday present. I've never been interested in it, always thought the huge vape cloud crowd was cheesy as hell, however she gave me a small closed pod one, a Mylé, discreet like a Juul. I dug the tobacco flavor, and now its been three weeks without a cigg, got a carton of Camels I have no interest in smoking anymore. My smokers cough is gone, I'm energetic, my singing has improved, and I've lost about 3 kilos. Don't even carry regular ciggs on me anymore. Also, by hacking the pods to refill I spend about 33 cents a day vaping, rather than the 5+ bucks a day I used to spend. Basically, I cut down my expenses about 75% when you factor in replacing the pods every 3-4 refills. I never cared for e ciggs, but I'm hooked on how great I feel, and have even gone half a day without a hit of nicotine, which don't seem like much, but it's monumental for me.

      How’s it gone for you the past 2 years? I just started to try and quit smoking. Here in the U.S vaping is not considered a smoking cessation method

      @@gjhslibraryrocks still havent smokes ciggs again. A drag here and there but since one is smoke and the other vapor it feels mad dry. I lowered the nicotine in the vape and switched to a Smok Nord2, but have not quit all together. I do feel the health benefits from quitting regular ciggs still.

    Thank you Professor Stimson. Common sense about e-cigarettes will prevail. All those 'health' experts who instinctively want to demonize/ban a product that could save thousands of lives should hang their heads in shame.

    I smoked for 19 years. I used to be 2 packs/day, party days, 3+ packs. I came back from Asia to Canada, and cigarettes are so expensive (and smoking is stupid), so I bought a vape unit, and haven't smoked a cigarette since - 1 month free of cigarettes, first. How good is e-cig? I tried quitting smoking 3 times, with patches and gum, over the course of many months. When I bought the vape unit, it seemed different and strange, but the first day I bought it was the last day I smoked a cigarette.

    One more positive result here. I smoked 1-1/2 packs a day for 25 years. I tried the little cigarette-looking e-cigs about a year or so ago and it just wasn't satisfying enough for me to take to it. But a month ago I bought a newer device which creates more vapor and flavor and was very pleasurable to use. It took a little practice to get used to the new experience and not react with a cough (a common experience apparently), but it didn't take long at all. Within an hour I was fully "trained" and I haven't even desired a cigarette since.
    It's a no-brainer. I have wanted to quit smoking for the past 15 years and tried once or twice per year. Tried gum, patches, cold turkey, behavioral counseling, etc. None of it worked for very long. I can't do chantix because I'm prone to anxiety and chantix has a record of causing attacks on people like me. So all those methods are pretty dismal attempts for a solution.
    Vaping is pleasurable to a smoker and once you get adequate equipment and the proper fluid, it is AT LEAST as satisfying as tobacco in terms of feeding cravings and so much more pleasurable that I think most smokers who want to quit can use it to EASILY get off tobacco. It's a fantastic tool.
    The hard part of quitting has nothing much to do with nicotine - you are cured of nicotine addiction in less than a week of being off of it. The hard part is all that ritual stuff that surrounds smoking, and vaping satisfies enough of all those things, with better taste and none of the rank odors, that it makes it an extremely easy preference.
    I have tapered off the nicotine concentration some, but honestly I'm not even concerned about that issue yet. I'm sure I will get to a zero nicotine concentration eventually (because I want to). I might like to quit even vaping eventually, but it's so much safer than burning tobacco that it's a low priority right now. At this time I'm just relieved that I have found a safer habit and basking in the success thus far. It's somewhat reassuring that I can now take smaller steps to effectively wean myself off the HABIT (rather than just the nicotine) instead of just failing again to drop it all at once. Knowing that I can reach for a vape to take care of any future urges rather than tobacco makes me a very happy human. And at this point, if I "fail" to stop vaping I'm not really bothered by the idea since it's so much safer than smoking. So even if you can't equate vaping to help your health as much as, say, exercise and vegetables, I feel that I've taken a big step to living BETTER in a huge way. Even after just a month, I feel so much better than before.

    • @TyroneDamShewlaces
      @TyroneDamShewlaces 9 лет назад +3

      +TyroneDamShewlaces Meant to say in summary....
      Vaping as harm-reduction tool for smokers WORKS, and works well. I'm happy to see that lectures like this are being given. This kind of perspective really needs to be heard. It would be absolute insanity and highly unethical to put obstacles in front of smokers who can use vaping to get off tobacco. I wonder how a politician would feel if I took away access to all healthier foods and made it so their only option was fried junk food and sugar to eat every day for the rest of their lives, knowing that kind of eating will be what kills them. I would be jailed for a long time if I did that to just one person. I wonder how much jail time is compensation for killing millions?

    Why do people ALWAYS assume that people who use e-cigs use nicotine in the juice ?
    I am no longer addicted to nicotine, but like to puff away on my nicotine free e-cig.

    • @minimalisthealth
      @minimalisthealth 5 лет назад +3

      SAME! I've gone from 6-7 cigarettes a day to a nicotine-less e-cig seamlessly. I've quit cigarettes instantly. I'm convinced it wasn't the nicotine I was addicted to, but rather the very act of smoking itself. For me, cigarette-smoking offered a form of temporary escapism to just be with my own thoughts for a while, away from the hustle-bustle of the day, and e-cigs fill that niche fantastically. By contrast, I've tried nicotine gums in the past and they were a woeful experience.

      I like juice that has a good vape flavor. I never liked cigarettes unless I was loaded on opium products. Burned alot of holes in good clothes😭but I never liked the taste of ciggs. Flavored ejuice is interesting and fun. It has no drugs in it.
      Unless one puts them in it. Stupid thing doing that. Governor should be

    Now, when I'm writing this is 23.04.2019! Everyone knows what's the name of the every game: IT IS MONEY!!! Nothing else. Cigarette Companies pay and bribe many, many people. Then these same law makers, politicians, doctors etc.. make sure that for ex. here in Finland you can't buy freely even inside EU e-cigarette parts: nicotine. atomizers and practically anything any more. There are few like this wice man professor Stimson and other true people, who really fight for e-cigarettes. I smoked about 30 years! My cough was so bad that I couldn't speak with someone on the phone anymore. I tried a nicotine gum, tablets under tonque, inhaler with nicotin and so on...nothing helped. Allways cigarette burn. I even tried hypnosis! and again...cigarette from pocket, BUT then I ACCIDENTALLY bumped into e-cigarette and NOT even One single cigarette hasn't been in my mouth after that day. I wonder why I don't remember the date, but anyway: my cough stopped within a 1 week!!! I started to smell and taste again...Only ONE thing worries me. I am so addicted to see smoke or vaping clouds, not because of nicotin. In that very day, if they prohibited vaping, I know100% sure, that I'll start to smoke cancer rolls again. I don't even try to quit vaping, 'cause I know where it'll lead me. HURRAY TO E-CIGARETTES! Let's go people everywhere and advertise to smokers E-CIGARETTES!!! P.S. I've ben vaping about 10 years now..............

    Posted to my FB page. Excellent overview for understanding the dynamics involved surrounding electronic cigarettes esp. for some who aren't directly involved - and the difference between public health policy (corporate driven) vs. valid scientific, independent clinical research - which can be extended to nearly every disease treatment.
    I view this as a civil right to use and have access to the least harmful alternative and at one time, that used to be the medical model as well. Everyone, including so called "public health" have admitted non-combustionable nicotine is less harmful.
    Current approved NRT have less than a 10% rate of success, about the same as cold turkey, yet 80% of smokers want to quite. Blaming the smoker for being "unwilling or unable" for that failure rate is wrong. The fact is no one really wants smokers to quit. Large corporations have a conflict of interest to produce successful products.
    Current FDA regulations address market share and there is nothing that enables serious research or protect vapers with safety issues. The FDA / CDC contine to undermine their crediabilty as valid, truthful agencies promoting health of citizens over corporate interests.

    I’ve started using e-cigarettes for nicotine, combining it with caffeine I can drive for hours without falling asleep. I’m an avid bicyclist and it takes like five minutes to clear out whatever is in the e-cig, so like nothing.

    I started smoking cigs when I was 17 and was able to finally quit when I was 25 all thanks to vaping. 2 years later I haven't picked up a cig since and still vape but have cut my nicotine levels down from 18mg to 3mg. Vaping is much more of a life saver than these politicians will ever admit. As of 2016 in America, the FDA has now passed a law which will ban 99% of the vaping industry with in the next two years. This is a crass over reach of the government to further take away Americans rights. They are doing this under the guise of protecting American's health and welfare which is a complete and utter lie and they know it. This is about money and power. Knowing that vaping has gotten millions of Americans off of smoking and now employs over hundred thousand people in us they want to ban all vaping. This is unconstitutional, UN-American and quite frankly despicable. Vaping company's as of 8/8/16 can not create any knew products with out paying a ransom of over one millions dollars to the FDA and can still be denied!!!! All products currently on the market have 2 years to be sold before the become illegal or pay the same ransom. Shop owners are not allowed to tell any one that vaping is safer than cigarettes or make their own juice. They are also not allowed to instruct or help customers put together there products (the products that are about to become extinct) I for one am not going to take this laying down. We have let so many things slide that we shouldn't have and now they have gone to far.
