  • Hannu's stories shows how our understanding of science (and the world) changed over time and the exponentially increasing complexities imposed in our lives. "To understand anything you must understand everything"
Hannu Rajaniemi is a mathematical physicist, science innovator and writer. Self-described as “the Geometric Dreamer”. In the belief that science and technology are amongst the most important factors driving societal change and that modern physics is full of beautiful ideas that resonate with stories he would like to tell, Rajaniemi is also a renowned author of science fiction and fantasy. His trilogy, the critically-acclaimed and award-winning debut novel, The Quantum Thief (2010), its sequel The Fractal Prince, and the recently completed The Causal Angel have won worldwide acclaim.

" We are made from a very small things but we live from a very very big universe" and as time goes by we discover new things in which it will become more complex to understand due to a lot of theories discovered wherein we need to face it in order to solve those biggest challenges.
This video shows us that science and technology made by the curiosity of humans and intent of having solutions by studying and searching facts and evidences by the use also the different technology that made for easier and better outcomes.
It is very important to study first the history of science and technology in order for us to have a hint as well as guide us from the starting point why science and technology evolve more. But the main issue there is we cannot control ourselves using it to the point that we rely most of science and technology in which it will lead us to become lazy and less productive. We should be thw one who's controlling the technology. Not the technology controlling us.

I remember what our professor taught us in our first discussion about the Introduction to Science, Technology, and Society and how Science & technology evolve through time and learning their various attributes that may affect society in the future. For me, it is essential for us to learn the concepts as well as the application of S&T because in the end, what we aim for as human beings is UNDERSTANDING. However, as we gain more knowledge-----from a simple concept to a complex concept-----it may or may not lead to chaos and disastrous events. I believe that the use and application of S&T in society depend on the people and their (own) motives. Sometimes, a man who was once called "the creator and inventor" could also be the same person to be called the "destroyer". - Mae Rabaria

The history of technology teaches us how creative people acquire knowledge
about the world and use it to fulfill human needs. As technology quickly grows the history
serves as a beginning knowledge to those people who is new to it. It tells us about how natural world works and lead us to perplexity. The history of technology reminds us of the limits of our knowledge. Technology is defined as application of our knowledge the history
of technology is not just a time table of events, but an access to human progress.

I always have a hard time with such approximations. This kind of approach, supeficial, hypothetical and fantastic does not help people understand any aspect of all his talk unfortunately. It is funny hearing him say that we should study the 98% of the "junk DNA", while we don't even have a comprehensive understanding of genes such as NFkB...

Hannu is my favorite sci-fi author precisely because he always finds a way to explain all these complex theoretical concepts without resorting to blatant exposition. I find I'm confused at the start of his books and stories but elucidated by the middle...then by the end he's merged all this new knowledge he's just given the reader with a compelling narrative to build to an amazing, often meloncholy conclusion.
