    I've heard good things about psychedelics like LSD, Mushrooms and their health benefits, I also heard it helps one get through addiction and depression. I'm just wondering where or how I can get my hands on them cause I'll love to give it a try, I'm passing through a state of terrible depression lately and it's killing me

      Strongly recommend just sticking to shrooms if you want an hallucinogenic experience. I was given “acid" one time by someone I trusted (at the time) and it turned out too intense that the trip lasted for 24 hours. Can't really be sure what you're getting aside from shrooms. Cause I personally have never had a bad experience with mushrooms though.

    One of colleagues did a whole interview series on her podcast where she interviewed women who had been gaslighted by their doctors. If we can’t even trust our health care providers we are in serious trouble.

      If people in America feel this way, then God help us in Africa, Nigeria to be precise 🙏🙏🙏. If you go to a government operated hospital in Nigeria with a stress level of 6, by the time (and days it takes) to see a specialist, your stress level would be in the double digits.

    As a substance abuse counselor, please do not micro dose mushrooms. Please use yoga, meditation, hypnosis, and other techniques that do not alter the mind.

      Microdosing doesn’t alter your mind. Any change is barely perceptible but the GOAL is NO perceptible change at all, you just feel better somehow. Taking too high of a micro dose is actually NOT pleasant or helpful so it only takes once to learn. If you take it too many days in a row, there won’t be any defect at all. So the average that people take it is 4 days a week.
      A microdose is NOT mind altering at all. I’ve heard people say they THINK they feel more creative but that can also be placebo. It’s a VERY VERY subtle change. I don’t know why she’s saying she feels “sparkly”. Never heard anyone say that.
      Also, microdosing is something only done for a several weeks or a few months. If it’s not helping, you naturally won’t take it anymore. If it’s helping, you won’t need to take it anymore. Mushrooms are non-addictive and by far, the most safe, least dangerous of all substances.

      Whether or not you microdose, you should clean up your diet, move your body everyday by walking, chores or physical hobbies. Experiment with different types of yoga & meditation. Micro-dosing may enhance these activities.

      There's tons of great research out there about psychedelic therapy including to help overcome addiction. Even founder of AA was inspired by his own psychedelic therapy.

      This is like saying that the people that discovered coffee should only keep coffee in their country and never spread it around the world.
      The people that discovered saffron and garlic, should only keep it in their country for their people, and should never spread it around the world.
      The people that discovered natural techniques or natural medicines should just keep it to themselves and not spread it around the world.
      Like anything else, yoga is something that you practice and make your own. You don’t practice it exactly like somebody did 5000 years ago or even five months ago.
      And your attempt to be the great protector and hero of some by clubbing others over the head with insults, you have become the very thing you are guarding against.

    YES! This is what happpens all the time in our lives- women have to fight and advocate for their own health and treatment. I'm going through perimenopausal quest now to find the right doctors to assist me through this. Also, elder care- that is an entire other issue that no one talks about enough in that the medical system wants to just throw pills at elderly people (because they complain a lot about pain, etc.) so they essentially drug them into submission so they will hush up and go away and not be the doctor's problem anymore. Sick and sad really- there is almost no real healthcare, it's sick care that makes you sicker if you just keep taking the piles of drugs they want to push.

      True. Stay away from Drs....full stop...do not take tbe tablets... its always about stress...toxic people, toxic environments, toxic food, toxic places, toxic water...on and on...drs pushing you into treatments, saying one thing and, then doing something else and pumping you up with what is bad for you. Like f. Glucose. To much to say...Amen .

      I wholeheartedly agree with you. I don’t know if you ever read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, but his description of a dystopian society hooked on a drug called Soma, feels much like our healthcare system today.

    Wonderful chat. Bschool alum here! I have an ACEs score of 7 and understand the importance of personal accountability for healing and how loving of an act that is for the self. I'm 44 and continue to learn as years go by and am grateful that we live in a time where resources are available, like this interview, for those looking to give themselves the life they deserve.

    I admire Dr Szal-Gottfried's work and how she approaches symptoms associated with "getting older" aka peri-/menopause as dysregulation. Root cause medicine and a new focus on women's medicine is needed in allopathic medicine

      A bit of denial tho in minimising a huge shift in our bodies down to "dysregulation". Does she say the same about puberty? Because that's a very similar transition, just into reproductivity rather than out of it. I am sceptical. Seek other sources.

    Micro dosing has changed my life I grow my own and it’s fairly easy in a grow bag I put in my own capsules too it’s not illegal to buy the spores themselves I recommend starting with Blooming Acres and PE ❤just bought your book on audible thank you 😊

    Hi Marie, love your work, the comments about hyper independence really rang a bell. Have been struggling with multiple stressors since mum passed suddenly and unexpectedly and like you I've kept saying I've got this, I can do it. However despite a reasonably balanced diet, regular exercise etc I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes which was a shock. I am now researching how to reverse. Thank you for this podcast it has really been a signpost to a healthier me. I don't usually comment on anything so this is a BIG shift for me. Keep up the great work girl! Xx

    fantastic interview!!! so great Marie and Team Marie, that you together are creating this content. I am still in the middle of listening to it but one thing jumped out to me and that is changing your diet, what you eat and what you don't eat and how you eat, that that is free and totally within your own control. In 2009 I got an autoimmune disease and soon after that started changing my diet to gluten and dairy-free (and I am still gluten and dairy-free up till now). I have experienced a lot of frustration and misunderstanding on my path of recovery, but that food and diet that was exactly where I always thought this is the part where I am totally in charge myself, I don't need anyone's permission, everything I need is available, and I can totally choose and decide myself. Also, a lot of information is available for free, on the internet, and otherwise very affordable by simply reading some books (and often free when you go to the old-fashioned library).

    I had just a little bit of wine last night and my Oura ring gave me a poor readiness score because of elevated resting heart rate. When I added the tag, it told me that alcohol raises heart rate by 4% on average. I'm in Peru at the moment and can buy micro-dosing Mushroom supplements at the little cafe' I love! But there were too many choices so I have to learn more before trying it. Excellent video! Dr. Gottfried is the best!, and of course Marie rocks! I've shared this a lot. Great work!

    Dr. Gottfried had so many good ideas--but the vocal fry makes her so hard to listen to (for me, anyway). The ACES awareness is important. It’s also good to bear in mind the ACES test doesn’t factor in religious trauma (which many people have), racism, etc.

    After suffering from endometriosis for 25+ years, I was exhausted. Dr’s prescribed strong NSAIDS starting at age 13. I learned, the hard way, that NSAIDS, like ibprofin, are only to be taken 1-2x a 👏🏼 week 👏🏼. After decades of painful and unsuccessful treatments plus 4 laparoscopy surgeries (the BEST endo specialist I ever found, was in Atlanta, Georgia)
    5 years ago I started researching psilocybin and micodosing. I found that it relieved endometriosis pain and symptoms by %75. I also found it helped a huge increase in quality of life and relationships.
    Of course, I spoke with my primary care physician about it, and was surprised to find them to be very supportive. Unfortunately, the State I live in is far from making it accessible 😔

    Marie, I got lots of medical education when I was in grad school and doing research for 15 years at Emory Univ in Atlanta.
    So, I'm really glad to see that someone is pioneering this work on PINE system disregulation.
    I'm familiar with what's called "leaky gut," but the presumed causes didn't make sense to me.
    This woman DOES make sense!
    I am a little worried about her, though, because her voice doesn't sound very strong. She sounds very "whiney," and I just don't think it's her normal voice. Maybe I'm wrong?
    Please keep an eye on her, as a friend. Make sure she's aware of everything that's affecting her....

    I’m so glad to hear two intelligent women talk about this subject. I was on a 5 year wild goose chase within the conventional medical system before I found my way to somatic healing modalities that helped me to heal the developmental and shock trauma that was the root cause beneath my dysregulation. One thing that has been particularly frustrating and painful for me is the gaslighting I’ve received from men in my life around my chronic health issues. I was literally told by a family member that I am “mentally ill, self-absorbed, and I’ve made a hobby out of being sick in order to get attention“. This new wave of autoimmune issues is more largely affecting women in their late 20s and above, so men, particularly in older generations, seem to have a hard time understanding this is a physiologically real issue for a large percentage of the population. I hope this continues to be a topic of conversation more well known by the mainstream. 🙏🏻✨

    Steer clear of anyone that has vocal fry...
    and a doctor dosing on dope opens themselves up to a big malpractice lawsuit if they ever make an error on the job.
    Not worth the risk to see her- your health could be destroyed while she's tripping.
    Extremely unprofessional.

      This vocal fry comment is interesting to me, because I am a professional singer, and clinical hypnotherapist that studies influence psychology.
      It might be an interesting poker tell for a speaker to have a vocal fry, but this must be taken within a greater context of further evidence, in of itself doesn’t necessarily indicate inauthenticity.
      Further, tagging a useful substance that induces beneficial alterations in consciousness “dope” is another sort of poker tell.
