      FRFR! If you find a DR willing to listen and help it’s all out of pocket and will make one go broke. And the DR I did find scared me away from starting estradiol and progesterone because she said it will throw off my cycle and may cause breakthrough bleeding or change my cycle (heavier or lighter and irregular length). My cycle is getting shorter in last two years (40y now) so the thought of negatively impacting what has been a predictable thing I’m like how bad do I need it vs managing naturally with all this “self care”, food and lifestyle. It’s exhausting no matter how I dice it. 😅😂

Drenched every nite, breathless, crazy weight gain, intense fatigue, poor memory, joint pain, insomnia , panic attacks, deep manic depression, crying fits, isolation and complete lack of confidence and love of life. I was consumed with exhaustion and longing to just pass away in my sleep. I was a military wife with a baby daughter and I’m amazed I made it through. • @wordivore
      @wordivore 6 дней назад +9

      Some women have had hysterectomies so the removal of something that should be there will cause things to go wonky so that would be one reason.
      Another issue in the modern day is how polluted everything is, our food, water, air. Plus the stress levels are crazy high from unnatural things like working 9-5s, etc. Our bodies still live in those primitive days so they're likely pretty confused, despite the innate wisdom.
      As for women getting older and going into menopause...this is just a theory but when we lived more naturally (primitive times) it's likely that women didn't live as long as we are now. After all nature is about reproduction/procreation and once that doesn't work in our bodies anymore nature views us as superfluous. But like I said, that's just a theory. It's also not my opinion. I find elders to be quite valuable personally. I wasn't there so I don't really know. But since there were no medical interventions when living in the wild, that makes sense to me.

    • @4everyoung24
      @4everyoung24 6 дней назад

      Biologically we are designed to procreate. Once that’s over there is no need BIOLOGICALLY for us to exist. But who wants to accept that?? I plan to live with as a high a quality of life as possible and replacing what I have lost with bio-identical hormones helps me accomplish this. Look at the studies! It’s not “big pharma.” It’s pharmacology helping people live better and live longer.
      Cancer is also a natural. You gonna let that go unchecked? No. You would treat it. If your pancreas stopped producing insulin, you gonna let that go untreated?
      Post menopausal women are estrogen deficient. Just because we are done procreating doesn’t mean we should just wither away and suffer from those diseases that occur from estrogen deficiency. There is really good data to support HRT.

I'm having headaches, low-grade nausea, my sleep cycle is shot, hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, and vertigo,.For four days I couldn't bring myself out of bed because I felt so exhausted. I’ve been in perimenopause since I was 47-48. The brain fog, fatigue, anxiety and depression are really having me consider HRT. I never have before bc I was so afraid of being bad for my body. But after listening to a couple convos with this same doctor, maybe this is the next step. I am grateful that I heard this today. I saw one and she was very helpful. Now , seeing a patient who seemingly suffered so from hormones is a powerful incentive to avoid hormones replacement . Remember you don't know what form of estrogen she took. Oral estrogen can increase the risk of stroke but transdermal estrogen ( creams, patches) does not. I urge you to update your information, then make a decision.Good luck

    I was done with my cycle when my male Gynecologist retired and was replaced by a mean female Gynecologist. The first thing she said to me was she wanted to run tests to see if I was in menopause. I'm not a doctor, but considering my cycle was done, it seemed obvious to me that I WAS in menopause. I refused the test and never went back again. That was about 15 years ago. I realize everyone is different, but I was very sick with my period EVERY SINGLE MONTH for my entire adult life (beginning at 13 years old) and for a change, I actually felt good, every month. I didn't need a test to tell me that. Why mess with a good thing?

I am feeling extremely exhausted, low in energy, I have got joint pains and swelling in my joints and sometimes the swelling won't go away, I 've got itchy skin, hairloss, hair thinning, frequent urination, dry vagina etc.. I am 47 and I definitely think it's perimenopause. I am eating healthy, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains like quinoa and farro and brown rice, plain Greek yogurt, plain yogurt, unsalted nuts and seeds, herbs like basil, cilantro, garlic, turmeric, honey, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, cummin seeds, cayenne pepper, black pepper etc.. I drink coconut water, herbal teas, water and 2 cups of coffee per day, I drink fresh made juices at home, fresh made smoothies at home, I have cut out refined sugar, I have cut out refined flour, I have cut out fast food, I have cut out junk food, etc.. I try to get enough sleep, I am trying to incorporate an exercise routine like walking around my house alot, climbing the stairs in my house a few times, for cardio and strength training exercises and also lifting soup cans for strength training

    I am normal weight. Physically active. I’m not on one medication. I hit the peri menopause wall at 54. All of my health markers started to tank. So many of the symptoms listed in the comments. The only thing that alleviated my symptoms was a very strict ketogenic diet. My fuel source is fat. Sugar/carbs is poison for my system that abruptly changed on me. Carbs simply do not work for me. Hard to admit but it’s the only thing that has restored me to close to my former self. If I need HRT I will definitely consider it. I have the genetic marker for BRCA so I prefer no medications. Diet discussions are triggering for people so I understand why using diet to control symptoms is tough. I am thankful that we are finally having conversations about this issue.

That's probably better for you because of your age and it's way easier to get. Don't get the oral pill!!!! Iud works too. The oral pill makes you insulin resistant and thus fat but it does help you. But getting fat isn't a good idea. The fat will drive all kinds of other problems.

      HRT is a phenomenal cure for menopausal symptoms, not birth control pills. The problem is men get HRT paid by insurance including testosterone shots or pellets. Women get compounded cream to rub on their thighs that they have to pay out of pocket. Estrogen vaginal lozenges are also out of pocket. Pellets and the progesterone you need if you still have a cervix are very expensive and ALL out of pocket. Without HRT, you will age very badly. Depression, bone and muscle loss, desert dry vaginas, no libido, and eventually no orgasm either. It's very grim and it starts at about 50 years old without HRT.

I refused the anti-depressents, started reading everything I could. I did very intense research on my own for 5 years and finally walked into my Doctor's office with my research in hand and demanded that they give me transdermal estrodial with vaginal progesterone. My doctor was so impressed that when I came back to her, she was on the same regiment I was. It helps to research and know your own body.

    The lack of education in the medical field pertaining to menopause, is because western society looks upon older women as people who no longer contribute to society. Recently I had a medical care pro insinuate that I, as a post menopausal women had nothing left to give. She couldn't have been more wrong of course, but this is how society looks at us. I see it in the eyes of men everyday as well. They just want to shove old ladies aside. Thank you for this very interesting video...

I was very pissed off the my male OBGYN doctor poopooed my severe hot flashes to the point I was not sleeping and my erratic mood swings… from lack of sleep… after he did a complete hysterectomy on me… which I needed due to fibroids and excessive bleeding. He did not even warn me about any possible symptoms that could occur after my surgery. He made me feel like I was a big baby for wanting medication and hormone treatment to help me survive life!!! I teach full time, and am a mom and grandmother… who also has an aging parent. I was barely surviving with all these hot flashes! Thank you for this podcast! I don’t feel dumb or crazy! That message at the end brought me to tears as well. I’ve had or have just about every symptom you talked about over the last 10 years and I too wrote doctors off. The dismissal of my complaints and the way I was treated caused me to just stop going to them at all. I figured I had all the symptoms and pain anyway why should I add the trauma of being gaslit, ignored or accused of being a WWW to what was already very difficult to deal with. I’m going to find a Ob-GYN that is educated about menopause. And hopefully find some help. I live back and forth on both sides of the country. Then I realized that prayer keeps your stress down. All my symptoms are gone. I don’t know if I will ever need HRT. I’m not against it. I saw my mother in law suffer a lot. I’m at that age now. Two of my favorite women right here! Thank you for this interview! I’ve been through hell and finally coming back with the help of hrt. What a nightmare this has been. I was completely blindsided by menopause. My symptoms hit me from one week to the next so hard I thought I was dying. I went to multiple doctors and no one ever mentioned menopause. And with our society trivializing menopause by laughing about hot flashes and how all that’s funny it’s no wonder I had no idea what was coming.
    I also wish there was a warning and a protocol on how to get through this. I had to stop Marie’s B School when all this happened to me and I’m just now starting up again. But I’m moving forward! My naturopath wanted to put me on hormones and i said no do she told me about this. She did say when you go off hormones the symptoms come back. I personally am happy to address this with food and herbs instead of making big pharma rich.
    I had been on hormones before 2020 and when I went to a Chinese Medicine Doctor he read my pulse and tongue and said my system was cold and that wasn't good. So that is when I went off hormone therapy.

    I'm 59 and have had A PLETHORA of symptoms. I pretty much started menopause at 43 and have been post menopausal, ever since.
    I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, my A1C was up, brain fog, weight gain, especially in my abdominal and tummy area, anxiety, depression, and on and on. I cried when I was listening to these ladies. I could not believe what I was hearing. I have been suffering for about 4-5 yrs and thought, "oh my God, is this the answer to my troubles?"
    I was put on levothyroxine for my hypothyroidism and let me say, I had no heart palpitations, dizziness, etc until I started taking it. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I got off of it after almost 3 weeks. I am now on a thyroid supplement, but honestly, I think the HRT is the answer to my prayers. Thank you so much for this!!! 🙏

    Please look at cholesterol again. We have been lied to. It is needed and protective. Low cholesterol is dangerous.

    OMG! So glad I saved this! I am 62 & I'm all of this! Weight gain, exhausted, itchy skin, acne (I have NEVER EVER had acne as I'm major COD about taking care of my skin!!!). Discovered in my 40's that I have asthma. Skin is so itchy, especially on my hands, I have to wear bicycle gloves almost all the time.
    I would love help on how to fix this crap!!

    This video came at a perfect timing. I’m about to get a hysterectomy in about two weeks. Hopefully to keep all my ovaries. Going to purchase Dr. Haver’s book. Thank you for hosting the interview.

    I did research on menopause, I had all the signs. Every single doctor I talked to and I had both women and men docs, their answer was "you're too young to be going through menopause" I wasn't that young! I told the docs, so when I turn 80 you will probably still tell me I am too young! They knew nothing about the subject. I did my own research.

    The medical industry resembled the moms of the 50’s & prior, many didn’t talk to their daughters about their periods so they didn’t know what to expect & the conversations were shunned. Doctors were doing the same with menopause.

    I think needing exogenous hormones for the rest of your life doesn’t make sense - it suggests we were made wrong. I think these changes can likely be addressed with food, exercise, meditation, etc. When I didn’t eat grains and very low carbs for several years I had NO period symptoms. As soon as I added grains and more carbs back in, those period symptoms (tender breasts, digestion issues, cramping, etc) came back. I think this is a first step in understanding that women aren’t crazy and the feelings are related to physical realities. However, I think continued research will open information into how to feel better without relying on pharmacology to “fix” us.

      It has to do with reducing the risk of stroke, heart disease, osteoporosis, and Alzheimers, which skyrocket at menopause. Not just symptoms. Why would our bodies be able to bear children for our entire lives? We are perfectly made. Doesn’t mean we have to suffer and die prematurely.

    • @TheFizziologieNetwork
      @TheFizziologieNetwork 23 дня назад +5

      @@rebeccacarraway480 Strokes, heart “disease” don’t just happen. When not related to acute injuries, these are a symptom of poor health habits. Just because we stop menstruating doesn’t mean we all of a sudden we are prone to ailments. Your argument is exactly what I am refuting.

    • @rebeccacarraway480

      @@TheFizziologieNetwork yes actually it does. The risk of the ailments I mentioned skyrockets after the cessation of estrogen. You are incorrect. Did you even watch the video? Maybe follow Dr Mary Claire Haver or Menopause Taylor. You haven’t refuted anything lol.

    • @TheFizziologieNetwork
      @TheFizziologieNetwork 23 дня назад +7

      @@rebeccacarraway480 Correlation is not causation. There is simple too much noise in the data to say that a reduction in estrogen causes a specific issue. I watched the whole video and respectfully disagree with her current hypothesis that HRT is the best way.
