I absolutely got the intro joke & laughed immediately. As for the film itself, seems like Angela channeled her inner Mrs. Vorhees in this sequel. You've definitely sold me on this film.
I love the silliness of Unhappy Campers. This version of Angela is a hoot and the kills were hilarious. Especially the Jason and Freddy gag scene.

According to some cast and crew members, during production/filming, Pamela Springsteen did not tell anyone she was Bruce Springsteen's sister. Several found out about it years later.
The characters Charlie and Emilio (played by Jason Ehrlich and Justin Nowell) are the real life names of Molly Nagle's (Renee Estevez) brothers, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez.
Felissa Rose was asked to return as Angela Baker and she did a reading, but didn't quite click with the comedic one-liners that Angela delivered in the sequels. She was also preparing to attend college at the time.
This film was shot in Waco, Georgia, at a camp ground formerly known to locals as Camp Waco. It is now private property. Most of the buildings used in the film are now gone. The restroom, abandoned cabin and swimming pool are the only things remaining.
Debut and first nude scenes for Valerie Hartman. After this she appeared on an episode of the TV series Cheers and an erotic thriller. Then she left acting.
Character Ally Burgess (Valerie Hartman) is arguably the most sexually active girl/character in the Sleepaway Camp series, as she is the only one to have sex twice.
Body count: 19 (though Molly's fate was left ambiguous at the end, It is revealed in Teenage Wasteland that she did die as Angela referred to her in the past tense).
The sex scene between Ally and Rob was actually with Valerie Hartman and an extra during shots showing her nude since the actor playing Rob (Terry Hobbs) was only a minor during the filming. They show close ups of Hobbs in the movie, but they were shot separately. He wasn't present while Hartman was naked. He joked during an interview that he really wished he could have been there for that.

This was actually the first one in the series I watched, so I wasn’t really aware of that shocking shocking ending to the first one or that Angela was a dude. I was like seven when I saw it. It was when it was first available to rent.
I love the fact that those bodies are clearly breathing. It just enhances the campy tone of this movie for me.

I actually still remember Angela rap from part 3:

"Sleepaway Camp 2" is one of those late 80's genre entries I enjoy much more nowadays than back in the day and your review sums up the strengths and flaws perfectly. When I'm in the mood for some mindless slasher fun, it fits the bill nicely, though I usually prefer the more serious kind of slashers. "SC 2" is certainly a product of its time, when everybody was trying to create their own Freddy or Chucky. The likes of "Dr. Giggles" come to mind and even Pinhead became Freddy to some degree in "Hellraiser 3"... those were the somewhat "dire years" of horror, but it's the era in which I became a fan, so even a film like "SC 2" comes with a lot of nostalgia for me. :)
Love the singing intro, you should do more songs if you have the commitment, especially for metal songs.

Yeah, the first one, really worked with being a more serious slasher movie, 2 and 3, I still find enjoyment in them for being a goofy slasher movie, Return to Sleepaway Camp, I've not seen yet, but keep hearing it's not that good, so with you continuing on with reviewing this series, that I'm most curious about your thoughts when you get to it. Her take is almost like the full blown version of the "aunt" from the original.. lol. That I always found hilarious. I know it doesn't take the tone as seriously as the first, even though it was cheesy, she is just so chipper about it. Which is why I loved, also, her take on it.

I’m glad this movie aged better for you, I remember seeing the clip of the reporter (?) snorting Ajax when Angela tricks her into thinking it’s coke back when I was a teenager and it cracked me the fuck up, but never knew what the movie was. When I finally saw the full movie later, I realized it *wasn’t* just a parody of a shitty 80’s war on drugs PSA like I’d assumed at first, and loved it for the self awareness.

Funny intro. SC2 is a top 5 slasher for me. Discovered it on late night TV as a kid and loved it.
I don't think the tonal shift of Angela's character in Part II is as random as people think. I actually think Pamela Springsteen was emulating Aunt Martha from the first film, which actually would make sense for the character, since at this point in time, Angela has undergone a sex change, as well as therapy, all of which quite likely resulted in a personality change.
You would have thought the therapist would have de-programmed Angela back to being Peter. Since Angela was still physically male. But I'm thinking way too hard on this... 😆
