Sleepaway Camp is an 80's slasher movie that is legendary for it's twist ending. This is one of the few "so bad that is glorious" movies that I adore!

Angela kills the kids that bullied her. The ones on the camp ground threw sand at her as she was running away after being thrown in the lake. So, yeah, we could have had more but it still works.

I must not have worded things well. I'm aware the kids butchered in sleeping bags were the ones who threw sand at Angela. It's the way the scene is edited into the 3rd act that feels so jarring and confusing. There's no lead up or follow up it's just randomly placed shortly before the killer reveal.

When you asked you didn't understand the part where the little kids were murdered and why they were murdered. Those kids were the ones that were picking on Angela many times at the swimming area. You see them splashing water at her and doing other stuff throughout the film. I think that they didn't want to show it because they were actually kids but I still think finding all those boys all hacked up was very effective.

I finally saw this movie after seeing the kill count on the dead meat channel a long time ago. Judy won the golden chainsaw for coolest kill while the kids hacked to death in their sleeping bags won the dull machete for lament kill. But I’ve heard it was meant to be the death of the little kids who threw sandy at Ricky and Angela.

Honestly i never heard of Sleepaway Camp until about 10 years ago and watched it for the very first time just last year and honestly it’s one of my favorite 80’s movies ever! I think it’s fair to say that this is one of most underrated horror films of the last four decades to say the very least. Felissa Rose did a fantastic job throughout the runtime of this movie and really gave it her all especially considering that infamous twist ending. #SleepawayCamp #1983

That's all I needed to hear to never see it....until your review. You and I agree on a lot of movies so I figured I should give it a shot. I loved it!!! The kids in the woods scene is random. But I’m pretty sure Angela just didn’t like them throwing sand at her. So she killed them, even though it’s like the mildest thing anyone does to her in the movie. What surprised me is that they suggest Angela is just insane and murderous, and not out for revenge on the negligence of the staff that killed her family. I guess the revenge against the camp staff motif would be too derivative of FT13th. Still the arrow in the neck shot is 100% a shout-out to that movie

The whole movie is so campy and silly it completely lures you into a false sense of security........... then BAM!! Imagine laying down on a remote sunny beach on a beautiful day listening the sounds of the sea, maybe some wind chimes in the distance, completely at peace in the world then someones sneaks up and simultaneaously lets off an air horn in your ear, sprays mace on your junk and dumps a bucket of ice water on you. I remember my sister first telling me about this movie years ago, and it was very hard to catch it on cable because they would always show the sequels and then one day they finally decided to show this movie. I mean I like it, just haven't watched it in years and when it comes to the month of October, I really don't watch Sleepaway camp or the sequels during the month of October.

The fact that you are reviewing this movie is amazing haha. This is one of my favorite horror movies and I actually really enjoy the second and third one for how bat shit crazy they are. I haven’t seen 4th and 5th one. Last I saw there were no streaming or renting options and the dvds are out of print

I'm aware of who they are I'm just saying the way they edit it into the 3rd act is jarring.

The way the aunt talks always reminded me of the short, Possibly in Michigan. Which I hear that clip all the time now about the poodle in the microwave.

Great review! This is a good 80s camp slasher! When I watched this for the first time a few years back, the ending really shocked me!

I saw avgn review this in a 2 minute video about 2 weeks ago (around 2/10/23), so i started watching the movie. My wife walked in and said “Youre watching Sleepaway Camp! I used to rent this movie every weekend as a kid!” 😂

I love Sleepaway camp! It doesn't get enough coverage on YT. Great 80's slasher, even without the memorable ending. (Also love the credits song)
Gets me in the mood for Halloween

    Very well summed up Cody.
I just finished watching this for the first time and I am sitting right on top of the fence 😂
Loved the kills and some of the lines were hilarious.
I need some time to think about what I just watched….

Well, I was getting ready to sit down with a new movie, something from my extensive list of "must-see"'s. But, NOW? Well, now I have to re-watch "Sleepaway Camp" for the millionth time!😆😆🖤
