I had the opportunity to work as a Grip on an upcoming project that Derek Mears is involved in. I didn't know it was him until I looked at the call sheet. That's basically what all four of these movies ended up being. Personally, I've never been into the out of nowhere hillbilly cannibal side of horror. The only reason movies like the original Hills Have Eyes or Texas Chainsaw made an impact is because no one had ever seen that kind of horror up until then and usually it's to give some kind of biting commentary on America at that time. I'm not that big on the remake (truthfully, the original Wes Craven film is the only one I like) but it's a lot better than this, as this is just a generic, trashy, nasty slasher movie that brings nothing new to the table. I will agree with you, though, that Lee Thompson Young is a highlight. I grew up on Disney Channel as well and watched a lot of Jett Jackson, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him in this. And yeah, it sucks that his life ended as tragically as it did, as he had a lot of charisma and presence. Also, what really sucks about the writing being so bad is that it was written by Craven and his son, Jonathan. God knows what they were thinking with this.
Well, there are 2 scenes that really disturbing me. Opening scenes was women pregnant and mutants rape. It was terribly abd no wonder why that should cut!
I remember I saw this while I was in the military. I couldn't get past the fact they didn't even try to make it look like they have plates in their vests
It was OK but I was slightly disappointed as the remake is one of my all time fav Horror films! In part 1 you genuinely care for the family so when some r murdered u feel their loss! I didn't give a shit about the soldiers! So didnt really care of they died!x
With Last House on the Left the rape story works because the movie wants you to root for the parents to get revenge but also in the end see that revenge really doesn't change anything at least that was the idea with the original Last House in concept. Similar with the OG Hills have Eyes your supposed to root for the family to get revenge and kill them with this sequel though the rape stuff goes on to long and is overly done making it feel gratuitous and not justified in the plot.
@@Broco1L Most definitely, sometimes a simple check in or an I love you can help. But then again there are different levels of depression, especially because of the field of work he was in since a CHILD
Agreed, great potential poor execution, they kinda tried this in Leprechaun 4: In Space. Jason Goes to Hell/Jason X a little bit but besides Predator or Dog Soldiers we rarely getting an elite force, like the Michael Bay Texas Chainsaw remake, I think, you get excited for a protagonist with military training but never seems to make them more capable then everyday citizens.
I really enjoy this movie and I think is way better than its predecessor! Is it THE best horror movie there is out there? No, but it's highly entertaining, watching soldiers getting slaughtered and all that. It reminds me a little bit of the Dog Soldiers (2002) movie, same recipe again, a bunch soldiers getting brutally massacred! Keep up the good work Cody!🤘
There was no Disney channel when I was little but that's beside the point when I first saw it the beginning I got excited and then it down hill. I agree with you and thank you for your review.
None of the points you made are wrong, but i still get way more enjoyment out of this movie than I do the new TCM on Netflix. Love that you mention the guy coming out of the toilet scene… that was so ridiculous 🤣
If it was me writing this movie It would be 25 more minutes, write the military to be more like Dutch’s team and Hick’s team from Predator 1987 and Aliens 1986 I would add 10 maybe more mutants armed with Knives, axes and dynamite to be realistic to the audience.

Well, there are 2 scenes that really disturbing me. Opening scenes was women pregnant and mutants rape. It was terribly abd no wonder why that should cut!
I remember I saw this while I was in the military. I couldn't get past the fact they didn't even try to make it look like they have plates in their vests
I watched the remake and the sequel once. I remember more scenes from the remake than I do this one.
The reason the script is so flawed is Wes Craven and his son Jonathan Craven wrote it in one month.
This was filmed in summer 2006 the same year the remake came out
It was OK but I was slightly disappointed as the remake is one of my all time fav Horror films!
I enjoyed reading the in-between prequel comic The Hills Have Eyes:The Beginning which is far more better than this disappointment
As a guy in the national guard, that fat guy and mexican guy were on point. The sgt was terrible tho lmao
Bro The famous Jet Jackson was my shit! Back when Disney had solid shows
Yea I had no idea, that was so sad. You gotta let people know how much you care about them cause tomorrow’s not promised.
@@Broco1L Most definitely, sometimes a simple check in or an I love you can help. But then again there are different levels of depression, especially because of the field of work he was in since a CHILD
100% agreed Thank you Jaelen
Incredible shirt
the military was a good idea, just not done good. Dereck Meyers is a 🐐, yes cody !!
Never seen this movie. Just liking for the Ace Ventura shirt. 😄
Laces Out!
Amazing shirt!
Its cool you dont like women being assaulted, i have the same issue with it.
Honestly, this is very much the performance and competency you should expect from the National Guard
I’m a veteran. I cringed at the national guard characters
The call signs killed my soul lmao and on what planet in the universe are kevlar straps that prestine and new lmfao
the remake is good better then the original movie, this sequel however is forgettable,i would definately rewatch it over the original films thou
The sex stuff is what turns me off; everything else is wonderful!
Hi Cody I'm a new subscriber and really enjoy your reviews !;
Jeepers creepers was your best review hands down !!
Interesting, I’ll have to watch that one thank you, love the whole trilogy and excited for a 4th installment.
@@Broco1L Your welcome
I really enjoy this movie and I think is way better than its predecessor! Is it THE best horror movie there is out there? No, but it's highly entertaining, watching soldiers getting slaughtered and all that. It reminds me a little bit of the Dog Soldiers (2002) movie, same recipe again, a bunch soldiers getting brutally massacred! Keep up the good work Cody!🤘
Cept no werewolves haha. Great reference!
Yes septic was the main motive of that kill. Fuckin gruesome
Right!? Love it!
There was no Disney channel when I was little but that's beside the point when I first saw it the beginning I got excited and then it down hill. I agree with you and thank you for your review.
Ironically Disney Channel star Lee Thompson Young stars in the film
I LOVE YOU AND ALL THE YT VIDEOS U PUT OUT 🙏
"Laces out!"
Love you're ace venture t shirt
Shocked you didn’t notice one or two piss poor green screen shots. Not many but they stick out so hard.
Derek Mears also played the classic predator in predators
The Nimrod Antal movie with Adrian Brody? I liked that one. Thank you for sharing
@@Broco1L yeah
He also played a SWAT team member in Hatchet III where fellow Jason Voorhees actor Kane Hodder played Victor Crowley
None of the points you made are wrong, but i still get way more enjoyment out of this movie than I do the new TCM on Netflix. Love that you mention the guy coming out of the toilet scene… that was so ridiculous 🤣
Shitman barbarian. Lol wtf
I liked the sergeant in this one wish he made it longer
In real life the soldiers would have just dug in and whacked these mutations as they came out. The mutants wouldn’t stand a chance
I didn't like it when I saw it either, and haven't really seen it since.
If it was me writing this movie It would be 25 more minutes, write the military to be more like Dutch’s team and Hick’s team from Predator 1987 and Aliens 1986 I would add 10 maybe more mutants armed with Knives, axes and dynamite to be realistic to the audience.
