    Everyone, watch the entire video. Thank you for showing the technique more than once. I have yet to watch any "teaching" videos that never reiterate the technique, and then fast forward through the next 3 mitered corners . No one has ever mentioned to shorten your stitch length when going into that 45 degree corner on the back side. Brilliant! Then, to mark on the actual quilt where the end of the binding meets means this beginner isn't guessin. I gathered so much information in this one video. I liked also how you leave the extra material on your binding seams to help ease the bump into your sewing machine. Accuracy. But folding those mitered corners and sewing another 45 degree dog ear off of the itty bitty corner was something none of the videos I have watched have ever shown. And no one else glued that last end and matched it to the other. The sewing foot tricks to follow that line was very helpful. You've made it possible to think about bigger projects, as right now I am just doing mug rugs and pot holders. But, they sure dont look like a beginner did them! You have a wonderful teaching voice. Can't thank you enough.

      Awwww... I'm so happy to have impacted your sewing to this extent. When I was learning, I found a lot of confusion around quitting as a whole because the use of the sewing machine is relatively a young art. I look at how hand sewing is accomplished and make it relate to the sewing machine. I'm so grateful to you for taking so much of your time to let me know how you felt about this video! It warmed my heart ❤️

    Thank you for the best tutorial I have seen on sewing the binding onto quilts by machine. I especially like the way you do the corners when sewing them onto the front of the quilt. Great job. 🙂

    So many great tips. I actually enjoy binding. (An I would not be able to quilt if I didn't glue basted). My sewing practices have evolved since I began quilting five years ago. Sharon Schambler's binding video was what I learned on. I always test out new methods which helps me evolve as a quilter--I'm going to have to try your corner pre-sew miter! I prefit my binding (glue baste it all the way around prior to sewing--to include the final join). The glue ensures that everything is right and tight. A hot hemmer works great for pressing the diagonal and the fold over for perfect crispness. (it is also superb for paper piecing folds).
    As you show, I think that folding and pressing the edge over is a better practice than trying to do it at the machine. I use 1/4" fusible tape which I like better than glue, but that is simply a preference. Preparing this ahead of time ensures that the only thing that you are focusing on is putting the needle in the right place. And I don't think that it makes any sense to do shortcut final joins (folding and tucking). It is a technique that requires more confidence than mastery. But once mastered confidently, your joins will be perfect every time. I have found that pre mitering my binding (and the final join) helps me have a better line of sight (as I am directionally challenged!). Thank you for your great demonstration.

    Hi 😁, could you show me how to do pin tucks with this foot? Page 19 does not show how to, unless I didn't read it correctly, will very much appreciated, by the way, did I tell you how wonderful this foot is? I am still finding new combos with this foot

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  5 лет назад

      A true pin tuck is accommodated accomplished by folding your fabric with wrong sides together and then edge stitching a distance away. The size is up to you. There are faux pintucks accomplished by using a double needle and a grooved bottom foot but it is not a true pintuck. Follow the steps in my book and when you're done sewing you open the fabric and reveal your perfect true pin tuck 😁

    Wish you would have showed the back of the quilt using the invisible thread. I was told never to use invisible thread in the bobbin as it can ruin the machine. Have you ever heard of this? Please advise. Thank you video very helpful as I do not like to bind I think your way is alot easier.

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  6 лет назад +1

      The back of the quilt is shown in the close up photo - at the end of this video and the add image as well. You don't see any thread. The Polyester version of Monofilament invisible thread is the one that should not be wound on a bobbin because it unwinds within the machine. NYLON is wonderful :) You wind your bobbin slower than normal or only half full because the thread is so strong and it stretches.

    Do u know what upsets me the most?, those who pretend to be great in, for instance "couching", they r using your creative feet piping foot, and don't give u credit for it, if it wasn't because she was using your creative feet, she wouldn't be doing that good, and famous, and that upsets me.....
