    I just love the way you teach. You make me feel like you are right there in my sewing room and you make all of your directions clear and simple. Thank you for all of your work with this video. It has helped so much. I have a much clearer idea of how to look at sizing. I find that Love Notions patterns are so much truer to size and easier to use and adjust than the big 4 pattern company's patterns. I am enjoying sewing for myself again after years of avoiding it.

    Great tutorial! I recommend newbie's to just take a couple of days to work out your pattern, tracing, sewing of muslin. Dont even take your good fabric out yet. I can take up to a week. If its not working, tomorrow is another day. You get better and more intuitive with it, the more you sew.
    And once once you have that correct fit, it's done for future quick-sews and hacks. You'll be relaxed when you do cut into your good fabric.

Now, with your help and advice, I feel ready to have a go. I’ll definitely make a muslin first and use the curve templates to tweak the pattern for a good fit . Thank you. Ps. I particularly love your delivery. You really understand the challenges a fuller figure brings.

    I just made myself a t-shirt using a pattern. I have not used a pattern in years. But what I did was get out the pattern pieces I needed and folded a t-shirt I like to wear in half, then laid on top of the pattern piece to see what size I needed to trace out on tracing paper. Them used the traced out pattern to make a mock-up first. Now I have a pattern I knows fits me that I can use over and over again. I have even invested in a craving ruler.

    Thank you for explaining the difference between using the standard and the full bust. It can be confusing sometimes even to someone who has been sewing for many years. I used to sew my own clothes in my 20s but life got in the way and now that I’m in my late 50s I have gone back to sewing my clothes. Unfortunately my body shape has definitely changed lots as I used to be very slim and needing alterations. Now I’m XL/2XL needing lots of alterations. So this has helped me lots.
    Happy sewing.

    Love this. I was trying to explain this approach to a friend yesterday so I’ll guide her here. One thing tho. I think using a stretch pattern with negative ease to explain your process kind of muddies the info because this pattern is relying on the stretch of the fabric to complete the measurements.

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  5 месяцев назад +1

      Well, that can certainly be taken into account also. Each pattern has ease, whether positive or negative, usually negative in areas for knits. Each pattern has an intended fit and adjusting the pattern to reach that intended fit on a pattern with negative ease is where the grading comes in. Even on a woven top, like, say, Timbre, which has a generous amount of positive ease, can be graded similarly, since the intended fit is quite relaxed. For more fitted woven tops, those require more fine tuning, since it has a more tailored fit. We have an extensive catalog of fitting help for those on our website and our YT channel, too. And more in the future, stay tuned! ❤️ ~J
