Wigs, Toppers, Extensions, Powders, etc... and once I realized that I was OK with it. I thought...there are ALOT of us out there just few are sharing it so I'm happy to hear that it makes you feel like you are not alone! Even when I was wearing a wig if somebody said they liked my hair..."thank you, it's a wig". When I wore extensions "thank you they are clip in extension here" I believe in full transparency :D
So true. All these videos that say how to style thin, fine hair - and then show someone who’s hair is anything but. I’ve never had thick hair, it’s always been fine - but now, with age, it’s so much thinner. So annoying.
I’ve used every volumizing styling product ever made, but most don’t really work. And since I moved somewhere with really hard well water, it’s been hell dealing with my hair. I think washing less helps, product building up adds a lot of volume for me. I do like the ColorWow extra large mousse, and their Raise the Root spray. Also Redken Guts 10. I think the most important thing is a great haircut, though. Have you ever tried those powders they make for the scalp? They really do help to disguise any areas where the scalp is more obvious.

My hair used to be so long and beautiful! However, after coloring for many years, and things that happen to us as we age, has changed my hair so much! It has been falling out so much since covid started. I do not put much heat on my hair anymore and trying to get it be healthier! Love your hair and styling process. Enjoy your dinner and family! Oh sweet Mary. I can relate, but your hair looks great. Not sure for me, if it's medication related, or aging, but I have thin spots. I like a powder coverage called Fibolica, which fills in my "holes." You do an incredible job. I thought your hair was thick. You are simply gorgeous, don't forget it. 💋💋💞
I keep meaning to get some more hair powder and it does a fantastic job OFF CAMERA but on camera OMG it zeros right in on that powder. I even have to be really careful with dry shampoo showing spots of it LOL
I had 8 rounds of chemo ending in mid July and while I didn’t lose my hair it thinned a lot. I take Folic Acid daily and it has helped thicken my hair. I tried the pink jar of Hair, Skin and Nails capsules for a year but couldn’t notice as much difference I use a QVC volume spray that helps fill in spots. Clasista is the brand they also have an actual product that works similar to your wax.
Hi Mary I always think your hair looks great and never think you have thinner spots, so it's beautifully disguised always. For most of my life I had an enormous amount of very thick/course hair and every hairdresser complained I needed a double appointment time for them to cut it - they all said I had enough hair for three people. If left to air dry it could take up to 24 hours to dry. Then came menopause and I lost around half of my hair (if not more). It's not "thin", but it's so so much thinner than it used to be. It's still course textured and even drier than would seem possible, despite all the moisture and oil I use on it. I'm 50 and have been truly menopausal for 3 years (I had my last ever period when 46). I had fairly long hair for most of my life and as I still have enough hair to do so, I still do. My hair is curly/wavy and still looks better long, so I'm keeping it longer until it doesn't look good that length. I love these short pixie cuts on so many people, but I have a very round face and need more hair to balance my face shape - it also disguises my fading jawline a little. I do take a multivitamin, EFA and collagen supplements, but it doesn't make a huge difference. i also consume a decent amount of protein in my diet - my hair and nails grow fast, but they don't "thicken". All this hair loss/thinning is one of the symptoms of menopause I didn't expect tbh and not one I'm thrilled with at all. I know there are thousands of women who have far more hair loss than I and my heart goes out to them. Hair is a very visible part of how we look and part of our identity in many ways. I don't mind the white threads (skipped grey straight to white in my naturally blonde hair), but I get a few highlights in the top section to blend them into the rest of my hair. They are still only in certain areas, but as more come through I won't need the highlights to blend them in anymore. I'm still constantly battling frizz and have all my life it seems - the curse of course/curly hair and the very wet Scottish weather. Best wishes.

I loved watching how you do your hair Mary! You have me the courage to let my hair just be itself, various gray tones along with very white! My hairdresser was shocked, she liked it and said I was lucky, women were trying to get their hair that way. Anyway, it took a bit, but it amazes me how dark my hair has gotten underneath the back, much darker than my natural original color, but it grows in initially white, guess I'll see what happens next! No one is taller than me where I am going today - Mary, that had me on the floor!! Doesn’t matter where I go, Everyone is taller than my 5 ft self - I just do a zig zag part to camouflage greys and spare part areas! Your hair always looks great - I haven’t tried the Wen spray, afraid I will get hooked on it - I used to used Wen exclusively but stopped a few years ago before this hair spray came out. That's the stuff Mary; hang with shorter people! I'm only 5'2" so it would be challenging for me! You hair looks good; I thought you had just had it cut! Know how I do my hair? I just comb the knots out, and put on one of my hats! My hair is a lot thinner lately so I'm hoping the collagen helps it eventually. If not, it is what it is. I have to dye it this week, which I hate doing! It's marginally better than sitting in a salon to have it done, however. I'm an 80's big hair lady, so I love all things volume. The brands that make my hair feel super thick are Tweakd and Taya. Those are the ones I've used for years now.
@@dixiesmom4633 the 2 products I have left are Tamed (hairspray) and Hydrate which is a styling cream that makes my hair feel really thick. I've used up what he calls "Wig in a Can". His products make my hair nice and thick.
I tried the Tweaked shampoo & conditioner, and they dried my hair out so badly, I was in tears! Thank God for my WEN oil that I slathered on it. It saved it. I'll stick to my WEN cleansing conditioners from now on.
Mary, your hair always looks "current". Thank you for doing this video. I had very thick, coarse hair. Then covid came along. When it left, it took my hair and changed the texture. I don't know how to style it now. This video helps, alot.

Your hair is very much like mine. I use mousse first. My stylist turned me onto PulpRiot Liverpool Root Spray. This stuff is great and smells awesome. The Oribe Silverati pomade is pricey but does the job of your wax but it adds a sheen for silver hair. I do use a blow dryer with a round brush because my style of late is a bit longer. As soon as winter is done I’ll go back to shorter hair. Thin and fine silver hair is hard to manage without seeing scalp through it. Thanks for the products and tips.
Thanks for being so transparent!! My hair is similar to yours when it comes to being sparse, and I've been trying massage, rosemary oil, etc. but have no idea if anything will help. I love your hairstyle and will think about getting a short style so I can 'mess it up' like you do.....

I get a big kick out of you. You are great! My hair is almost identical to your hair and same cut. I am 79 and I have wanted to shave my head all of my life and I am now considering doing just that. I do keep it bright red, as I cannot get any uniform white throughout my head. I love white hair and in my 20s I kept my hair white. I moved to South America from the U.S. 12 years ago and red hair is rare here. My Father was only half gray at 92, so I have little hope for all white, but my white is pure white. Hi Mary, You do a great job styling your hair. My hair is a little shorter than your hair. I style it in a similar way, except I use Got To Be spray in the yellow can. After washing my hair I brush it, spray it, brush the product through, run my fingers through my hair to set it in place, then I let it dry naturally. How often do you wash your hair? I wash mine about 2-3 times a week. Just wanted to let you know I went to the dermatologist yesterday and had two biopsies on my face. It will take a week to ten days to get the biopsy report back. I was raised mostly in FL and spent many days in the sun and at the beach not wearing sunscreen of course. Hoping the biopsy report is good. Love, kindness and happiness, Teresa

I'm 72 and can relate to empty spaces...your hair wet looked like mine used to! I'm ordering all the hair products you listed. Hi , I have the same kind of very fine hair , and I went from a sissor cut, but the sissor cut was too blunt cut and I really was not pleased with it. I found a new stylist and she did a razor cut on me and I was so pleased with it, no more blunt cut look.

Stumbled upon your channel. What a beautiful lady! I love your vulnerability...and your skin looks lovely for being 60+. I can bet my hair is thinner than yours, though!😂 And, I love your color...love your cut! Makes me think about going back to short, if I could get my hair to do what your's does! Right now, I just left it grow enough to pull back, as I'm liking the gray...although not my scalp showing. I bet I've lost half my hair the past 2yrs. I am totally believing it's all the electrical towers in this town I moved to. Hoping to move by end of year. Until I do so, I just won't know it that's the reason, but when I was between apts, in an AirBnB cabin off of a lake for a month, way outside of town, within a day my hair stopped falling out. Four months in the new apt, same as the old apt, hair started falling out again. So, for now I'm thinking about getting the scalp colored powder to see if that works. I'm sort of salt & pepper, which I'm loving. Stopped coloring it a year ago...and still have the color growing out. Again, I think you are gorgeous...and I love your hair!

Anyway, it took a bit, but it amazes me how dark my hair has gotten underneath the back, much darker than my natural original color, but it grows in initially white, guess I'll see what happens next! No one is taller than me where I am going today - Mary, that had me on the floor!! Doesn’t matter where I go, Everyone is taller than my 5 ft self - I just do a zig zag part to camouflage greys and spare part areas! Your hair always looks great - I haven’t tried the Wen spray, afraid I will get hooked on it - I used to used Wen exclusively but stopped a few years ago before this hair spray came out. That's the stuff Mary; hang with shorter people! I'm only 5'2" so it would be challenging for me! You hair looks good; I thought you had just had it cut! Know how I do my hair? I just comb the knots out, and put on one of my hats! My hair is a lot thinner lately so I'm hoping the collagen helps it eventually. If not, it is what it is. I have to dye it this week, which I hate doing! It's marginally better than sitting in a salon to have it done, however. I'm 5'4" now...I use to be 5'7" before the spine collapsing on the right...if I could get by with longer hair...if only. I get or try to get my hair cut every 6 weeks ;)

I'm an 80's big hair lady, so I love all things volume. The brands that make my hair feel super thick are Tweakd and Taya. Those are the ones I've used for years now.

@@dixiesmom4633 the 2 products I have left are Tamed (hairspray) and Hydrate which is a styling cream that makes my hair feel really thick. I've used up what he calls "Wig in a Can". His products make my hair nice and thick.

I tried the Tweaked shampoo & conditioner, and they dried my hair out so badly, I was in tears! Thank God for my WEN oil that I slathered on it. It saved it. I'll stick to my WEN cleansing conditioners from now on.

Your hair is very much like mine. I use mousse first. My stylist turned me onto PulpRiot Liverpool Root Spray. This stuff is great and smells awesome. The Oribe Silverati pomade is pricey but does the job of your wax but it adds a sheen for silver hair. I do use a blow dryer with a round brush because my style of late is a bit longer. As soon as winter is done I’ll go back to shorter hair. Thin and fine silver hair is hard to manage without seeing scalp through it. Thanks for the products and tips.

I get a big kick out of you. You are great! My hair is almost identical to your hair and same cut. I am 79 and I have wanted to shave my head all of my life and I am now considering doing just that. I do keep it bright red, as I cannot get any uniform white throughout my head. I love white hair and in my 20s I kept my hair white. I moved to South America from the U.S. 12 years ago and red hair is rare here. My Father was only half gray at 92, so I have little hope for all white, but my white is pure white. You do a great job styling your hair. My hair is a little shorter than your hair. I style it in a similar way, except I use Got To Be spray in the yellow can. After washing my hair I brush it, spray it, brush the product through, run my fingers through my hair to set it in place, then I let it dry naturally. How often do you wash your hair? I wash mine about 2-3 times a week. Just wanted to let you know I went to the dermatologist yesterday and had two biopsies on my face. It will take a week to ten days to get the biopsy report back. I was raised mostly in FL and spent many days in the sun and at the beach not wearing sunscreen of course. Hoping the biopsy report is good. Love, kindness and happiness, Teresa

Thank you so much for this video! My hair started falling out because of thyroid disease in my early 40s and then with age it got super fine and was still falling out. I'm 72 and can relate to empty spaces...your hair wet looked like mine used to! I'm ordering all the hair products you listed. I have some that work but I think my poor head/hair needs something different to wake it up!

Hi , I have the same kind of very fine hair , and I went from a sissor cut, but the sissor cut was too blunt cut and I really was not pleased with it. I found a new stylist and she did a razor cut on me and I was so pleased with it, no more blunt cut look.

Stumbled upon your channel. What a beautiful lady! I love your vulnerability...and your skin looks lovely for being 60+. I can bet my hair is thinner than yours, though!😂 And, I love your color...love your cut! Makes me think about going back to short, if I could get my hair to do what your's does! Right now, I just left it grow enough to pull back, as I'm liking the gray...although not my scalp showing. I bet I've lost half my hair the past 2yrs. I am totally believing it's all the electrical towers in this town I moved to. Hoping to move by end of year. Until I do so, I just won't know it that's the reason, but when I was between apts, in an AirBnB cabin off of a lake for a month, way outside of town, within a day my hair stopped falling out. Four months in the new apt, same as the old apt, hair started falling out again. So, for now I'm thinking about getting the scalp colored powder to see if that works. I'm sort of salt & pepper, which I'm loving. Stopped coloring it a year ago...and still have the color growing out. Again, I think you are gorgeous...and I love your hair!
