AMAZING! thank you for this video. this was in perfect timing for me! the great tip you gave at the end of the makeover- really needed that final touch! I got a very simillar haircut just yesterday for my fine& thinning hair.
I loved seeing the live makeover! I really like the look you created ,especially the style created in the front of her style which looks so cool and edgy. However I personally would have preferred just a bit more length left at the nape. That’s just my personal preference. I understand your reasoning for the back length but could it still be accomplished with just an inch or so more length?
The background was so cool and complimentary to the subjects (you, and the client). The "interview" with your client, making her do the work as in training her, and the makeup artist being complimentary to the overall final look. PERFECTION! You need to do more of these!!! I can't wait to see the future ones. And the fact you and DIonna are going to donate 10% to animal charities......well, you ended the video with a tear from me.
I love that you show her how to style it. That is one thing most stylists do not do and it is key to replicating the style we wanted at home. Love your channel!
Thanks so much for the kind words. When I have clients in my chair, I always teach them to style their hair so they can duplicate it at home. I want them to love it every day, not just when they are in the salon.

This is me! Justin, I appreciate you for so many reasons, but the education you give to your clients is something that very few hairdressers do anymore. I've been to high end salons and every salon in between in my area and I've been hard pressed to find a stylist who gives any sort of education on how to style my hair. For that matter, I have yet to find a stylist that even knows how to effectively cut short hair period. I've walked out of so many salons feeling ugly because the cut just isn't executed correctly and the styling consisted of just a blow dry round brush style with little to no texturizing products used. Forget about any flat irons or curling irons put to anyone with shorter hair, yet one by one you see the clients with long hair walking out of the salon with some curl or body to their hair. I apologize if I sound grumpy, I'm just frustrated.
Amen girlfriend!! I hear ya! I have been trying for a decade since i went gray and my hair textured changed to find a stylist that knows what to do with it.
It is so difficult! I lost my hair stylist of 30 years and I’m truly floundering. I’ve had three haircuts since she left, all bad.😢 What makes it even worse is that I’ve had multiple surgeries on my scalp for squamous cell carcinoma and as a consequence have quite a bit of scarring and hair loss. My long time stylist had cut my hair through all of this and had learned how to handle it, so that I always looked good. So I have this problem and my hair is also fine and thin. I’m afraid I will never get a good haircut again! For the past three months, I’ve been cutting my own hair. I can do a pretty good job on the front and sides, but I’m not satisfied with what I can do with the back. I don’t think the self haircuts are sustainable and I really need someone who can cut my hair. I have a recommendation from a friend so I’ve made an appointment, but I’m so afraid this haircut will be another disappointment.😞 A good stylist who listens, who understands how to achieve the look you want, and helps you understand what products to use and how to style your own hair is literally worth their weight in gold!
@@jolynbranch1211 AMEN! I'm right there with you! The last haircut I had was an attempted pixie cut. I was devastated. You know what I finally decided to do in the interim? I bought a few wigs to wear. I cannot believe how expensive good, natural looking, synthetic wigs are, but when I calculate how much I've paid in botched haircuts with tips on top of that over the years, the wigs seem to be a better investment for me. That said, I cannot wear wigs forever. They get pretty hot after a while.
Her cut looks so cute!! I love that you involved her in the styling process! It's the worst feeling to get a cut you love and then not have the foggiest clue what to do with it when you have to style it yourself.
What an amazing video! I LOVED everything about this and I think she looked so natural and refreshed! Great job to everyone who worked hard to make this video. So so good!
After watching your channel for several months, I found a terrific stylist and cut my thin lank long hair short in two sessions - first to a chin length bob and then to a shorter layered style. This has been absolutely life changing and I am not exaggerating. I look like I have three times as much hair! Now that I am rocking my easy, flattering hairstyle that looks great all the time with minimum effort - literally five minutes tops - I am exercising more, learning Italian, generally getting more things done. How does a hair cut do this? My long unflattering hair was dragging me down and sucking energy from my days. I have freed up a lot of time and I am so much more confident. So glad I found a stylist who could do this for me!
Justin, thank you so much for this video on superfine, thin hair! I have this type of challenging hair and I always try to incorporate the hints you give in dealing with it. I employed the technique you demonstrated in blowing my hair dry and styling it this morning and it looks perfect! I have a very short (pixie-ish) hairstyle and I need volume at the crown in order to offset my thin oblong face. I have finally gotten my hair stylist to understand this and to cut it accordingly. I can actually style my hair better than she can but she does a great job with the color, highlights, lowlights, etc. Thanks so much for your very helpful information and demonstrations. You're the only youtube hair stylist that I pay attention to because you know what you're doing!
That is the exact type of hair I have, that is an awesome job on her hair, I loved how you let her actually style her own hair. Now if I could only show this video to my stylist without insulting her. I actually like my hair behind the ears instead of the Bob that I have hanging in front of my face half the time. Loved every minute of this video 💕
My hair is super-fine and, as of last year, super THIN. It's been down to my belt line for a few years, and I've never had it short. This might be the year!
@@gforceforever I had similar hair. I cut it to shoulder length for a while, then chin length for a while, then really short for a while. I realized my most flattering length was chin length, give or take two inches. Have fun and experiment!
Wow, Trish looked stunning. I love her new hairstyle, so modern and funky and it looks so much thicker, it's fab. I have her exact type hair, fine and now thin since menopause and it is so hard to get volume in. I learnt a lot from this video, I'm not using enough mousse and was only using it on top instead of all over. I never dry my hair upside down so will have to try that. Love you having a live model for a change. Hope you will have more in the future.
Love what you dud to Trish’s hair. I went chin length after watching your bob hair video because I am 57 and felt I needed a more polished look but the chin length gave me a lift -I love it! Trish new look gives her a lift to her face, looks modern but classic. Gorgeous.
So great to see thin fine hair cut and styled to perfection! My hair is thin and fine like this, only totally straight - a real challenge! I love how you showed her how to style it, too.
Justin, I love her new haircut and style. You made her look bright and more youthful. Her makeup looked great as well. Thank you for the helpful tips. Keep Smiling 🤗
You are very talented and understand how to bring out the best! Just because someone one can cut hair doesn’t mean they have the talent to help you find the style that suits you best! Well done!
Thank you for this excellent video! I love how you explain everything in such great detail. I also so appreciate that you address subjects that are vital to most women, such as bringing the eye upward and accentuating cheekbones. Thank you for including make up tips for these same issues.❤❤❤
You’re so welcome! I’m really glad that I can help. I appreciate the support! How do you like this style of video, you’ve got a bunch of them planned for this year.
I love this video! Getting to watch you change someone's hair style, and explain everything as you go. Then you teach her how to style her hair. So awesome!!
So excited for her! Omg she looks so good! I had to keep watching the instructions on drying because my hair is exactly like hers. FLAT ! But it looks great now!
Justin, super awesome job on the haircut on fine thin hair. You are fun 😂 as well as very good at your hair knowledge. You are very kind at answering questions. I asked you a while back a question on my thin hair and you replied with clarity and the information was very helpful to me. I always look for your notations but I just couldn’t get time to watch it till now 12 hrs later. Thanks! For being there for us who don’t have a lions mane.
@@justinhickox I did enjoy this style of video. That's the problem w/ so many middle-aged/older women wearing the longer hair. It gets thinner (usually) as we get older & long hair just emphasizes the thinness.
Stylists should be educators as well when doing your hair. They seem stingy or secretive with their knowledge or are in a hurry to get to next client . I appreciate your generosity in helping us be our best with our crowning glory ❤️
Great video makeover Justin! Very flattering hairstyle for this lovely lady. Thanks for the styling tips as I just changed my to a similar hairstyle and I have fine thin hair too. I didn’t realize how and where and when to put product and this is so helpful! Can’t believe you have over 400,000 subscribers! I was an early subscriber and remember when you celebrated getting 20,000!
I have the same problem with thin fine hair. The tips were so helpful and i really love that Justin actually showed her how to blow dry her hair. Just so helpful.
Great job, Justin & Ashley! Trish, you look beautiful! To be honest, I would have watched a longer video, just to glean more instructions. I sent an application for a thin, fine hair makeover in January, so this is an absolutely shameless plug for selection!
Almost every one of these tips were also confirmed in my 1 on 1 with you last Friday!! I am playing around with the product amounts and havent quite got the ratios right, but getting closer! Just need a great haircut now! Great job on Trish, she looks great😊
This is very nice! I use to have thinning fine hair. I quit coloring my hair and the temples grew in and much thicker now. I love my gray hair now. I also use Marc Anthony volumizingcream.

She looks beautiful and it was cool that you had her help style it. My hair is completely different than hers but a couple of the tips you gave her may help me too. Keep doing these videos please! I always look forward to what you’re gonna post next.
Just watched two of videos on thin fine hair. THANK YOU for the tips! I haven't had my hair cut professionally for years.....every so often my husband would trim my back and I'd do the bangs and sides. I wear my hair up in a ponytail or bun, because it 's so thin and fine you can see my scalp and it gets stringy hanging down and has no style or volume. Wish I lived close to your salon, but again, thanks for the hope you've given me.
♥♥♥ Her new cut! She looks Refreshed and Younger, and who doesn't want that?! The nape of her neck, when you pushed her hair forward the payoff was huge for such a small change. Job Well Done!
Why don't they ever use hair spray that will actually hold thin hair. Hairdressers where I live never use hairspray that controls. I know my hair and it can look for about an hour before the whole thing has fallen into limp rag status. I get it that flowy hair that moves is great and sexy, etc. No one wants a helmet head. But I'd rather have it stay in the style I want than have it look awful after just a bit of time!
Great jobs! She looks wonderful!! Sweet that you had good foundation to start with! What about those of us without the high cheekbones and more rounded faces? Any hints or specific videos to check out? Thanks!!
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked the video! I have a bunch of these planned for this year and we will definitely run into many different face shapes, etc. We will absolutely cover high cheekbones and round faces as well
@@justinhickoxI haven’t seen any styling for women with pronounced jowls. Would love to see any possible tips before I cut my hair from waist length to whatever it should be… Absolutely love your channel!
Your detailed explanations on product are very, very helpful! Also, loved that you taught her by letting her style it herself. At the end with that "minor" pushing the hair on her neck forward....WOW...what a difference!!
Justin, I love what you did with Trish's hair! She looks beautiful with her new style and makeup. I also appreciate how you showed her to style her hair. I have fine color-treated hair that has been showing a few thin spots. So thank you for making a video for women with fine thin hair! (I have the SRI Dryer and I love it!)
What a great video! Love the cut and style on Trish - I too have fine, thin hair that I long to have in a cut and style similar to hers. I appreciate the styling tips you provide, so invaluable! Can you tell me the product that was in the purple container? I would love to try in in my styling routine. Thanks again!
Wow, she looks fabulous! I’ve been waiting for this video! I have fine, thin hair as well. So thin that I have bald spots at my crown. My hair is almost to my waist, it’s long so that I can wear in a (tiny) bun to camouflage the bad areas. 🤦🏻♀️
I have similar geometry and hair issues as Trish and really appreciate this entire makeover. I am certain you would have given me the same haircut. Thank you, Justin!
I’ve watched many many tutorials on how to give thin hair volume, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your demonstration and information because it makes the most sense and it works! Thank you for that. I’m an old Italian lady that used to be beautiful and Mother Nature took over so I have to work much harder to reach decent looking.🤪❤️
What if I don't like this hairstyle? I have incredibly thin hair but when I cut it short I'll have to do the whole styling every day...and when I have 1 walk with my dogs, my hair will be flat again... That's why I hate my thin hair short! It's just not practical. So I rather ware it long so I can always ware it in pony tail. And when I go out for a party I'll style it a bit more.
My hair is long, fine and thin. After I wash and towel dry it, I spritz in a leave-in conditioner on the ends. I comb that through my hair and then spritz a volumizer on my roots. (My favourite is Rusk). I comb that through and when my hair is barely damp, I blow dry it. It looks thick and awesome! Try different products to find out what works for you.
I am sooooo JEALOUS! I love it! I put in twice for Justin to do my fine thin grey hair and to my disappointment have not been chosen. But I am so glad he chose this lovely lady! What a fine example you have given. Always so much great information and I am glad you showed her how to style that is half my battle. Never can I replicate at home. Question though on what product you used on her hair before the Defrizz? That view doesn’t suck! TFS
This video brings hope. I need to drive out to your salon in Oregon from Seattle and have you cut my very fine thin hair. Struggled my whole life… now hope abounds🙏🏻
Thank you for the tip on getting the back to lie flat. Mine kept flipping up on one side and I just tried blowing it in circles and today is the first day it is not flipping up!
Finally, someone with all my issues! Thanks for the video! All hairdressers seem to do this for my situation, some not so good, they go shorter, but this seems to be our only look.😔😟😕
Justin, this was the info I needed!! I love that you train the client about correct product use & styling. I'm awful with that and was too embarrassed to ask my stylist to break it down as if I were 8 yrs old. Once I did, she understood and we both had a laugh and she gave me a helpful, slow-paced tutorial. I love your channel and I apologize for not subscribing sooner. I got so engrossed watching I kept forgetting
Very interesting and informative video! Please tell me which volumizing mousse you used on her? I didn’t see it listed with the other products. Thank you.
Amazing beautiful transformation with a simple yet sophisticated hair cut! Like others have said, your lessons on all aspects of hair design is so much appreciated ❤
Wow, this was so helpful!!! She looks more youthful and the hair does appear thicker. She could even go with a brighter lip, a sassier hair color, and bolder earrings, IMHO, for special events! I just wish I could work the round brush & dryer the way you do... have never been coordinated enough to manage it, lol!
I loved this video! It was great to be able to hear from the client (in their own words). Thanks for explaining and letting her do some of the styling herself - that really gave me some confidence. Also, I had no idea about NOT putting mascara on the lower lashes! Makes sense and that will not stop in my routine.
Thank you for this tutorial - I have very similar hair and am excited to see the possibility for a manageable and flattering haircut. I've already taken your advice on how to use product with great results.
What is the mousse used? I loved this video and the haircut. I have fine thin hair and it was actually kind of strange to finally see a video with someone who has my hair texture. Thank you for a great video.
Nice cut and it looks great on her. I have the same hair, fine and thinning. Heading out for a hair cut and feeling like I'm inspired to go shorter. Thanks for the inspiration!
Amazing I'm in my mid 50'sl live in northeast England I'm having a right nightmare with my hair always had fine hair and suffer from alopecia which has flared up and with the menopause but I have been watching you and have learnt some great ways on how to blow dry my own hair with has helped so thank you so much for your time to show us lot how to do thing right take care ❤
She looks great! I'd like to see a video or some tips for post covid hair. I lost a lot on one side 2 yrs ago...it's still thin and it doesn't grow as fast as the rest of my hair. My texture has also changed. Used to be I could just curl it, spray it and be good. Now? It's limp, won't hold any shape or style no matter what I do. I recently cut off my mid back long hair because of how pathetic it is.
I have the exact hair! This cut and process look great and I think will be perfect for me. What was the foundational product you used first on her hair?
I have always had fine hair and now thinner, so these tips really seem helpful. I had had my hair cut off at the chin length recently. However, I gave up on products. I might try them again. Since I have natural wave I seem to get a lot of body on the first day. If the weather is humid, I might get two days of nice body.
Thank you for teaching her how to style her new haircut. That is what makes or breaks a hairstyle. Sure it looks cute after the appointment, but if I can't replicate it at home, all your beautiful technique is wasted! bravo!
Let me know what you thought of the makeover!!! Then watch this:

So great to see thin fine hair cut and styled to perfection! My hair is thin and fine like this, only totally straight - a real challenge! I love how you showed her how to style it, too.
Great job Justin! She looks wonderful.
Wow! She looks amazing. She looks like she has way more hair. And her makeup looks great too.
Justin, I love her new haircut and style. You made her look bright and more youthful. Her makeup looked great as well. Thank you for the helpful tips. Keep Smiling 🤗
They forgot her eyebrows. Needs a little more definition.
You are very talented and understand how to bring out the best! Just because someone one can cut hair doesn’t mean they have the talent to help you find the style that suits you best! Well done!
Love this type of video. She looks gorgeous. I love that cut.
That cut and makeup looks beautiful on her!! Thank you for all your tips for us ladies with fine hair. I've learned so much from you!!
Yes, l absolutely hate my fine hair, and hair loss😢
I love this video! Getting to watch you change someone's hair style, and explain everything as you go. Then you teach her how to style her hair. So awesome!!
We all wish we had a stylist like you Justin! Great job! Beautiful lady!
So excited for her! Omg she looks so good! I had to keep watching the instructions on drying because my hair is exactly like hers. FLAT ! But it looks great now!
So glad it helped!
She looks amazing! Always learning something new. Thanks for all the tips. I wish I can get my hair done by you.
Trish was such a joy! Such a kind spirit and love her smile!
Turned out beautifully! So much more dense looking!
Totally looks more dense right! Did you like this style of video?
@@justinhickox I did enjoy this style of video. That's the problem w/ so many middle-aged/older women wearing the longer hair. It gets thinner (usually) as we get older & long hair just emphasizes the thinness.
Stylists should be educators as well when doing your hair. They seem stingy or secretive with their knowledge or are in a hurry to get to next client . I appreciate your generosity in helping us be our best with our crowning glory ❤️
She looks GREAT!!! The hair is so versatile! The makeup is so glowy! I hope she went out on the town that evening! ❤
So glad you found it helpful. And thank you so much for being one of the OG subscribers! My community means everything to me!
This video doesn’t suck!!!!…it is Spectacular!!!…she looks amazing!!!!!…a beautiful woman, turned into gorgeous with her hair and makeup!!!…this is perfection!!!!…absolutely love her hairstyle!!!…fits her perfectly!!!!…truly a helpful video!!!!…nailed it!!!!…👏👏👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💣💣💣💣💣
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😂
She looks lovely with her gorgeous haircut. Her earrings just finished the whole look ❤
Yes, my wife likes to say she is never fully dressed without her earrings on!
Her hair looks amazing. My hair is the same and I’ve found shorter styles are the way to go. Just wish it wasn’t so darn expensive to keep up with.
Would love to see any possible tips before I cut my hair from waist length to whatever it should be…
Absolutely love your channel!
Your detailed explanations on product are very, very helpful! Also, loved that you taught her by letting her style it herself. At the end with that "minor" pushing the hair on her neck forward....WOW...what a difference!!
Looks so good! Perfect solution for her hair type/texture!❤
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I’m just glad she liked it as well!
Thank you for the tip on drying the bangs, drying them in different directions. Will the same technique work if you have a cowlick in your bangs?
I've watched 3 videos had to subscribe ur freaking amazing ty
So beautiful!! She is radiant! Totally made me cry. ♥♥
Great information. Love your video's so much. Especially the interaction with your client. Make up advice is always helpful to. 💆👍
Love her new look! You did great as always.
Me too! And I’m not as pretty as that girl.
My hair’s so thin that my scalp shows. I would so love for it to look like hers.
Love the hair AND fresh makeup! Well done! I love watching makeovers!
Thank you for the tip on getting the back to lie flat. Mine kept flipping up on one side and I just tried blowing it in circles and today is the first day it is not flipping up!
Thanks for taking the time to let me know that. So happy it helped!
Finally, someone with all my issues! Thanks for the video! All hairdressers seem to do this for my situation, some not so good, they go shorter, but this seems to be our only look.😔😟😕
I am excited to do more makeovers this year. Did you like this style video? Anything you would want me to include or change?
Really liked this style of video, Justin. Trish's look is much more updated. One question - what was the texturizing product (purple bottle) used?
Justin, this was the info I needed!! I love that you train the client about correct product use & styling. I'm awful with that and was too embarrassed to ask my stylist to break it down as if I were 8 yrs old. Once I did, she understood and we both had a laugh and she gave me a helpful, slow-paced tutorial. I love your channel and I apologize for not subscribing sooner. I got so engrossed watching I kept forgetting
That was some tutorial. Absolutely love the lesson. I will certainly be on the lookout for more videos to come. You are very talented.
Very interesting and informative video! Please tell me which volumizing mousse you used on her? I didn’t see it listed with the other products. Thank you.
Yes please, tell us what the mousse product was to volumize.
You’re terrific Justin! Thank you for the lessons.
Excellent makeover really helpful, and your model looks amazing. Thanks for another great video and easy to follow tips, and I enjoy your format. 😊
Thank you very much!
This was so helpful! I knew how to do a lot of the styling tips, but still learned a few new things too. Great video!
WOW, this is fabulous indeed! She looks wonderful with that cut. Now I want mine just like that!
She looks gorgeous! Love the after!
SO cute on Trish!! Great job Justin and her make up is really nice too!
Trish is so pretty. What a beautiful cut!
I loved this video! It was great to be able to hear from the client (in their own words). Thanks for explaining and letting her do some of the styling herself - that really gave me some confidence. Also, I had no idea about NOT putting mascara on the lower lashes! Makes sense and that will not stop in my routine.
Great makeover! Ashley, you look amazing! ❤
Thank you for this tutorial - I have very similar hair and am excited to see the possibility for a manageable and flattering haircut. I've already taken your advice on how to use product with great results.
Great video! She looks amazing! Love the cut and styling.
What is the mousse used? I loved this video and the haircut. I have fine thin hair and it was actually kind of strange to finally see a video with someone who has my hair texture. Thank you for a great video.
Perfect. My cut is very similar so have found the drying/styling very helpful.
Nice cut and it looks great on her. I have the same hair, fine and thinning. Heading out for a hair cut and feeling like I'm inspired to go shorter. Thanks for the inspiration!
Fabulous new style! You are an amazing stylist Justin.
Thank you so much for this!!! My hair is almost identical to Trish and I wasn’t sure what to do with it. She looks great ❤
Amazing I'm in my mid 50'sl live in northeast England I'm having a right nightmare with my hair always had fine hair and suffer from alopecia which has flared up and with the menopause but I have been watching you and have learnt some great ways on how to blow dry my own hair with has helped so thank you so much for your time to show us lot how to do thing right take care ❤
Justin you are the hair FAIRY GODMOTHER... her hair was so amazing!!! Thank you so much for your product info & hair tips!!!
Trish looks amazing! Thank you for this video, Justin!
I have the exact hair! This cut and process look great and I think will be perfect for me.
What was the foundational product you used first on her hair?
So, glad I found you. I had bariatric surgery and my hair is so thin now. I need help on how to style. Thank you for this video
Awesome makeover! She looks beautiful!
Justin, what is the volumizing product that you used on Trish’s hair? I have very similar hair and it might be a good fit for me.
Thank you so much for this video. I have the same problem as this lovely lady. I have fine thin hair also. She looks beautiful.
I’m so glad I could help a bit! Thanks for hanging out with us today. Did you like this style of video?
@@justinhickox yes very much. My daughter is a hair stylist (retired to stay at home mom). I will definitely show her your video.
Sure it looks cute after the appointment, but if I can't replicate it at home, all your beautiful technique is wasted! bravo!
Exactly!!!
