I would LOVE to see a similar test for humidity controlling product! We who live in a seasonal humid area loath what humidity does to our hair styling efforts!
I tried the color Wow conditioner on my fine curly hair and it literally took out my curls…I used it twice, and then I gave it away to my straight haired neighbor.
I have thin, fine hair. I have used so many volumizing products, but the Color Wow is my absolute favorite! I use the XL mousse after shampooing (every 2-3 days), and then I use the Raise the Root when styling (daily). I haven't had this much volume in years! Thank you for confirming my opinion! I'd love to see a test on hairsprays, especially flexible/working sprays, and maybe another on texturing sprays. Love your content!
After having lost massive amounts of hair in the last several years, I gave in and purchased some Color Wow after seeing all the ads on FB. I have to agree!! I’m blown away at how much better it makes my hair look!!! It gets better after sleeping on it too! I only wash my hair once a week at most and it stays clean and smooth the entire time! Also my hair texture has changed dramatically too. It’s very frizzy looking maybe because of all the gray. 🤷♀️ Color Wow keeps it smooth and shiny!! ❤❤❤. EXCELLENT video!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I just bought Color Wow Xlarge volumizer, before I watched this video. I was blown away by my results the first time I used it! I’m from Texas, & you know what they say about big hair in Texas. I’ve tried countless volumizing products over the past 20 yrs of my adult life. Color Wow makes INCREDIBLE products, especially their volumizing products. Definitely worth the investment y’all!
Well, that was fun! If you continue with testing (please), could you comment on scent in terms of "lightly fragrant" "very perfumed" "scent does not go away/does go away" "smells like coconut" "smells like the inside of your grandmother's purse in the 80's" (I hope Shimmer Lights feels called out by that last one 😂).
This is so important! I can’t use anything with much of a scent at all because my husband has such a bad reaction to anything scented. So I need unscented products. Thanks for including this!
Thank you for including humidity test. I live in the Tampa, FL area and frizz is an immediate problem especially when then the dew point reads 81, the highest it’s been in years. Thank you so very much for this informative vid. Keep them coming!!😊👍
I’d love more product comparisons and appreciated you included a lower price point. As someone else suggested I’d appreciate a note about scent as I’m sensitive to odors.
Yes I would love to hear more about products and scent. It is so hard to find hair products that are NOT scented that actually work. There are so many people who do have scent issues and cannot use products that have scent in them - also just because they don't have scent in them, but have essential oils, that counts as scent as essential oils are very overpowering and people with scent issues typically cannot use them either. I sure can't. I wish more hair care companies would include unscented products in their line.
@@StacyA-tm5rj color wow has a lot of products in their line without additional scent added. It’s possible an ingredient on the label might serve a separate person and still carry some scent. But a many of the products don’t have ingredients in there that are solely for perfuming purposes.
This was awesome! Maybe you have done something like this before but what about shampoo/conditioner for fine hair to create volume? So thankful I found your channel!
Thanks so much! This was both informative and entertaining . I ‘m impressed with the amount of work this entailed and the rigor with which you dealt with all the variables. After trying SO many volumizing products I can now narrow my choices so I have a better chance of finding what works for me. Great job! 😢
This was the most thorough experiment I’ve ever seen. Most just test part 1 and don’t give any thought to other obvious factors that affect the results. As usual, thank you, Justin.
On my short hair, Tresseme works great! I style on Sunday before church and basically don't do anything but brush it. It holds it's volume and shape even through my rolling over from side to side during the night.
What a great video. I have had very fine thin hair my entire life. I have used what seems like every volume product out there and discovered the COLOR WOW products about a year ago The Bombshell XL mousse is my favorite. It gives me great volume that lasts until my next shampoo It leaves my hair soft enough so I can run my fingers through it and restyle it The Raise the Root product is also a game changer but adds more of a product feel to my hair. I add it when going to an event where it is very humid and even windy and I need my hair to have volume that is guaranteed not to deflate
I have thin hair - these manikins had lots of hair - I have tried almost every volume product on the market - and the ones you used never worked for me - try Colorproof or Big Sexy Hair volumizers - they work for thin wispy hair ,, they hold well and can be refreshed.
Retired stylist here. I have two things: after Pureology was bought out by L’Oréal, their products began to make my head itch. This was confirmed by some other stylist friends, and the mannequins can’t tell you that. Secondly, I’d like to know how well the products washed OUT of the hair so as to not cause “product buildup”. Thanks for an informative video, Justin!
These are great points! The product buildup aspect is great...may be harder to test since I find that many times it takes multiple uses to really determine how much a product will build up. Worth talking to a chemist about for future videos though...thanks for that idea.
This was a great video to watch. I bought the Color Wow and WOW! I HAVE FINE HAIR THAT TENDS TO GO FLAT AND I LIVE IN THE SOUTH AND IT’S QUITE HUMID WHERE I’M AT. I AM THRILLED TO REPORT THAT MY HAIR HAS HELD THE CURL AND VOLUME UP ALL DAY! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!
Yay for Tresemme. I use their mousse. Will get the spray now too. Yes, more of these videos. How about how to get shine into gray hair that doesn’t weigh it down. 🙂
Their texturizing spray is really good too. I have a Volumizing spray from them that I find myself using more than my very pricey hair products. Happy to know it’s not just me that has found this brand to perform so well!
@@dw1898 I love their Extra Hold Unscented Hairspray. Scented hairspray triggers an asthma attack, but this is great. I'll have to check out their texturizing spray.
I use Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam (Gabi’s hair stylist recommended) and Kristen Ess volumizing mist. I think I am guilty of not using enough. Today is shampoo day, so will try to amp it up and when I run out, I will try Tresemme. How about texturizing spray? Some glue my fine hair together making it untouchable!
The ColorWow is the best volume product BY FAR I have ever used. I haven't used the other 4 in this video, but I've been using many volume-promising products for 40ish years. Most weigh hair down (while promising to be "weightless" of course), feel gritty and dirty, and make hair look dull. Any volume deflates the instant you touch your hair, or move around., or try to add any shine. When I tried ColorWow, I was truly shocked. The only slightest negative for me is that my hair feels a tad dry, but I can fix that with a few drops of oil WITHOUT deflating the volume. I can even add DreamCoat over it for more shine and to reduce frizz in humidity. Amazing.
Could you do purlpe shampoos for our gray hair gals please. My hair will take on a purple sheen. Even if i mix with other shampoo. Right now im using redkin.
Thank you so much! I actually have been using the Color Wow volumizer for the past several months and have been absolutely loving it. It's the first product that actually can hold my heavy hair.
I'm thrilled that a much less expensive product proved to be so effective. Go Tresemme! I'll be getting a bottle of that tomorrow for sure. Thanks! This was such a helpful video! 💜
You are a brilliant hair dresser. So much knowledge. I really enjoyed you sharing with us the hair volume products. I will buy the two. Color wow and tressame. My hair is falling out by the hand full and it’s horrible. These two may help me. Tell your wife so beautiful the two of you so kind.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have since purchased and tried the Color Wow Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer. AMAZING results! This is just what I was looking for. Great 2nd and 3rd day hair with no dry shampoo etc. Keep up the great videos!
Color Wow has transformed my hair. It was always coarse and frizzy and destroyed by humidity, but as I age it has become curly and fuzzy plus all of the above. Color Wow styling spray makes my hair look and behave almost like normal people hair - shiny and smooth. And it actually looks better after sleeping on it. It really is a miracle. I kept telling my hairdresser that I found this amazing product but forgetting to bring it with me. Her reaction was a subtle yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I remembered. She has been blown away by it. She says she can’t believe she had never heard of it, loves it for her own hair and tells everyone about it. There must be something in the marketing because she says she can’t use it in her salon, but she is sold on it. So I am not surprised by these volumizer results. The brand is a miracle for my hair. (It is also cruelty -free and has unscented options, which are must-haves in my books. There is nothing that is worth torturing animals, and my husband reacts horribly to anything scented. I am thrilled that the best product I ever used meets these criteria.)
WELL I live in the Deep South and humidity is a daily issue almost year round. I have fine wavy hair and FRIZZ has been my arch nemesis for 60 years 🙈 I began using Redken One United and the Color WoW last Summer and what a game changer!! If I had these products when I was in my 20’s, I wouldn’t have lost so much sleep by wearing those horrible huge rollers all night!! We really did that 😜 !! Enjoyed this video so much!! Of course!😬 And happy I don’t need to run out and buy something different 🤣 HugZ💖
Thanka again for another helpful video!! My stylist recently used Wow on my very fine hair, and I fell in love with this product. Now that you have tested it, I am more convinced that this is a win-win for me!
Absolutely great video!!! I’m really glad you included how it feels in your hair because that can break a product for me. Please do a dry shampoo comparison!! I use Amika, Bumble, overnight Batiste and Living Proof
Thank you! I appreciate that. I e gotten some good feedback that will help future tests be even better! Is there any other kind of products or tools you’d like to see tested?
Thank you for the Tresemme review!! My hair looks like those mannequins! The humidity test was everything! I am sticking with my Tresemme products due to the price point. I use the mousse and heat protectant daily with the same blow dryer technique and the hair spray. I actually prefer having product in my hair. I have not tried the volume spray you used but will now. Thanks, Justin and Dionna!! You’re the best!! 🥰
Great review. I use Tresemme products and like most of them. I use their fine oil mist for shine and fly-aways and their Simplify root booster which is one of their best products. I feel like I can always count on that product. Thanks.
I never tried any of these. BUT recently tried UNITE products and was pleasantly surprised the thickness their mousse provided….even 3 days later. Applied properly because of your excellent teaching. ☺️
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for the recommendation and thank you even more for the trust! I appreciate that. I’ll definitely check out the unite products as well!
Hey Justin! Love your videos! Could you do a video using clean products? There seems to be more and more options of clean products, but there aren’t many cheap ones so I’m not sure which to try first.
Interesting video. My hair is fine textured & a bit thinning on top….im retired cosmetologist so I do buy good products. I have products I use most (at the moment I’m using Kenra Memory styling mousse) my hair is shoulder length. Nothing…I mean nothing I use looks good after bout 45 minutes…lol… Funny question?? How many heads popped off and out of your hands & down the stairs??…lol….I kept thinking about that all throughout the video..lol..but was “almost “ sure if it happened you would have left it in the video ❤ Enjoy your videos ❤
I love all of the Color Wow products! There isn’t one I’ve tried that hasn’t impressed me, so I’m not surprised by these results at all:) Thanks for saving us all some money and putting these to the test😊
Thank you for this. I am off to buy the Tresemme product. Now, you just need to do another experiment of anti- humidity, hair spray, and hair clay products. You are going to be busy😊 Thank you for all the information and tips you share with us. It is much appreciated.
I use ColorWow - really love it - I don't apply nearly the amount as suggested - that can quickly become expensive. I've used this product on mid-length hair and short hair - works great - I live in Texas where now it's hotter than 40 hells, and this product holds up well in the heat and humidity. Love your channel.
As a seeker of volume, I loved this video! The Amika Plus Size Mousse has been my go to for a couple of years now. I personally hated the Wow! I found it incredibly sticky and although I got volume, it made my hair look dull and very coated. Thanks for all the hard work on this video!
Hi Justin. I'd love to see a test on blow dryers. Blow dryers cost between $15-$150 and up. What about the watts? Should that play a factor for home use? Many selling points but does it matter? Thanks for considering,
I am so glad to see this video!I have used Tresemme for years. I have used the gel which a little stiff for me, and the mousse. Every now and then, I will try something different but I always go back. Thanks.
Fantastic video! I've been using Bed Head Big Head for years because it takes care of the "static cling" I get in my desert climate. But it's been discontinued, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement. I'm going to try the Color Wow to see how it does with dry air.
Love this test! I have thin, fine hair and am always on the search for good, fragrance free products that don't kill my budget. Color WOW is fragrance free and comes in 2 sizes, so I got the smaller to try.
Excellent experiment! Ummmmm, I bought the Caviar immediately after you recommended it. 😉 Not crazy about it. But then, I was already using the Color Wow foam. I live in the humid Midwest so Color Wow gets that humidity test frequently! 👍🏻
I truly appreciate your trust! I’m very sorry that product didn’t work as well as I would have liked it to work for you. It’s crazy, it’s worked really well for me. Testing it against these other products was a bit of an eye-opener! Would you like to see more of these kinds of videos? I’m very curious how people like this type of video.
@@justinhickox absolutely. Women are frustrated having to test out bottles of hair products to find what’s good. Please do heat protectants, leave in conditioners, hair masks, texture/hairsprays, and finishing oils/serums.
I’ve been using Color WOW for 2 months along with another product and have been extremely happy with it. This surprises because I tried one of their other products several years ago and threw it away because there was no positive effect. Thank you for showing me Wow is as good as I think it is. I have not used a heat protector and would love to know which to try.
Yes, I would love you do more test product videos. I just ordered some Color Wow products to try out. I would like you to test the Color Wow and other brand shampoos and hairspray.
I think the issue is that the mannequin can't tell you how it feels and if it makes your hair oily or whatever. We have heat coming off our head, a mannequin doesn't
Loved this video! I’m constantly trying different volumizers for my fine hair but haven’t tried any of these yet. You just saved me some time & money!❤
Great video with honest reviews. I like this cos its not one of those vids made just for the purpose of plugging sponsored products like many youtubers do. The Tresemme was very surprising in comparison to the other more high end products 🙌
Really interesting. I just bought the colour Wow and having just tried it I can confirm it is brilliant. I’ve been using volumising products for a long time and this one is definitely the best of the best.
Thank you for confirming that Color Wow is great. I find that it seems to have a "style memory". Even on the third day, all I need to do is run my fingers through my hair, and I am good to go!
Hey! You're so welcome! I'm glad you liked it. Would you want to see more of these kinds of videos? If so, what kinds of products would you want to test?
@@justinhickox Yes! Stepping on the wild side....concentrating on frizz with the humidity. Smoothing but retaining curl or wave. Naturally curly/wavy. Product vs. brush used for drying and/or air drying. You knew that I was going to say that, didn't you?
@@justinhickox..Leave in Conditioner, which another youtube hair person swears is a fame changer. But wash, condition, leave-in, styling product, oil on ends…that’s A LOT of product for us thin, fine, frizzy gals. PS: I used to lemon jello as a setting lotion, tease my hair w a toothbrush & finish with heavy spritz of AquaNet! And slept in rollers every night. 😵💫🥴🤦♀️
Impressive. I intended to buy the Amika product when I finished the Kristen Ess product that I am currently using (rather heavy on fine hair). Change is plans. When I go to CVS today, I will pick up the Tresseme. Thank you!
I loved this video. It was informative and entertaining (I am easily amused). I appreciate all of the time you and your wife take in explaining things, demonstrating, all while it seems like you are having a great time!! I would love to see more product comparisons! How about a comparison of box color vs. salon color??.....
Thanks for this video. I have a trial size of the Color WoW. I keep forgetting to try it. Been stuck on my Living Proof products for so long, because they work great for me.
I have been using the Wow for a number of months now. Have thin fine hair. It is a miracle worker. Very humid here right now. Hair still has volume even after i take off my golf hat!!!love this product. Wish we could get all their products in canada…

Yes! Scent can make or break a product.
Don't get the Amika, it has a very strong scent. Horrible!
Fabulous video! I just “got my hair back” after being ill and malnourished in 2023. Your videos have been a great source of info and help! Thank you 😊
Thanks so much! This was both informative and entertaining . I ‘m impressed with the amount of work this entailed and the rigor with which you dealt with all the variables. After trying SO many volumizing products I can now narrow my choices so I have a better chance of finding what works for me. Great job!
😢
I already love Gabi, but now I love her even more! She’s the best! ❤❤
She's awesome! Such a great friend and creator!
I was SO shocked by how well it worked!
When you do a a test you really put your whole self into the test!
Where do you get color wow?
@@tammygardner7953 At my salon or on Amazon. Their website also runs sales a lot
I've used Tresemme for years. I love their products!
Color wow foam at the root and volumizing spray mid to ends - awesome combination.
I have thin hair - these manikins had lots of hair - I have tried almost every volume product on the market - and the ones you used never worked for me - try Colorproof or Big Sexy Hair volumizers - they work for thin wispy hair ,, they hold well and can be refreshed.
I love the Big Sexy Hair mousse volumizer!
Color Wow does have heat protectant in it so that takes it even higher up when no additional product needs to be purchased
I try everything. I have thin, fine hair and Tresemme makes GREAT volumizing products that just work for me.
I discovered the Tresemme Volume Spray this past winter. It's now the only volumizer I use. I love this product.
I was wondering does it leave your hair sticky?
Their texturizing spray is really good too. I have a Volumizing spray from them that I find myself using more than my very pricey hair products. Happy to know it’s not just me that has found this brand to perform so well!
@@maryalbert6138 It doesn't feel sticky like mousse does. But along with the feeling of thicker hair, there is the feel of product in my hair.
I've been following you only for a few months but this was SO ENTERTAINING!!! loved it, also love Gabi. Your channel is so unique. Keep it coming!!
I absolutely loved this "scientific" test! Do it for frizz-control products in humidity, please!!!
I'll definitely consider this for sure! Thanks for the idea!
Awesome video. As a senior on a budget this really helps. I would like to see more of this type of experiment Thank you Val❤
That’s a lot of dedication in testing from multiple perspectives. Really impressive
Thank you. I purchased the Tresemme' volume 5 in 1 spray and it works on my thin grey hair. I'm happy!!
Wow!!! This video was SO HELPFUL!!!!!! I’ve always loved the one from color wow. So helpful seeing how these wore throughout the day!
Wish I could take my head off to style my hair, lol
Not me. I would end up losing it or leaving it in my car.

SAME in HoustonTx..where the air is wet & my hair has been the bane of my existence. Especially my older, thinner, grayer, frizzier hair!
@@dianegibbs3716 Amen Sista! Lol Struggle is REAL!😅🌺
I have used Color Wow for a year now and am not disappointed! My fine, thin hair has volume and as he said, it is better the 2nd day.
Which color wow?
Thanka again for another helpful video!! My stylist recently used Wow on my very fine hair, and I fell in love with this product. Now that you have tested it, I am more convinced that this is a win-win for me!
Absolutely great video!!! I’m really glad you included how it feels in your hair because that can break a product for me. Please do a dry shampoo comparison!! I use Amika, Bumble, overnight Batiste and Living Proof
I love, love, LOVE Color Wow!! It's my go-
to after shampooing before I turn my blow dryer on.
Wow! Most informative hair video I’ve ever seen. I now know exactly which brand I’m buying….THANK you for putting the time in and doing it fairly!
Thank you! I appreciate that. I e gotten some good feedback that will help future tests be even better! Is there any other kind of products or tools you’d like to see tested?
I use the Tresemme all the time, and I love it for my fine pixie. We don't have much humidity where I live.
Yes to more videos like this!! I like to see products for curly and wavy hair. Great video!!
Great video! Helping consumers buy a great product so we do not waste money on those that are not as sufficient.
LOVED watching an independent and dependent variables experiment!!!

LOVE these type videos!!! And...Gabi is a scientist?!? Makes me love her more. Not because she is, but because I've never heard her "brag" about it!
Thanks for taking one for the team! Great advice!!
Great review. I use Tresemme products and like most of them. I use their fine oil mist for shine and fly-aways and their Simplify root booster which is one of their best products. I feel like I can always count on that product. Thanks.
The Tresemme definitely shocked me. I am impressed.
I have been using Color Wow Carb for at least 4-6 years now. It is amazing.
Love to see you test other products. Dry texture spray, hairspray etc. Great job. Thx
Hey Justin! Love your videos! Could you do a video using clean products? There seems to be more and more options of clean products, but there aren’t many cheap ones so I’m not sure which to try first.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Interesting video. My hair is fine textured & a bit thinning on top….im retired cosmetologist so I do buy good products. I have products I use most (at the moment I’m using Kenra Memory styling mousse) my hair is shoulder length. Nothing…I mean nothing I use looks good after bout 45 minutes…lol…
Funny question?? How many heads popped off and out of your hands & down the stairs??…lol….I kept thinking about that all throughout the video..lol..but was “almost “ sure if it happened you would have left it in the video ❤
Enjoy your videos ❤
I love all of the Color Wow products! There isn’t one I’ve tried that hasn’t impressed me, so I’m not surprised by these results at all:) Thanks for saving us all some money and putting these to the test😊
Thank you for this.
I am off to buy the Tresemme product.
Now, you just need to do another experiment of anti- humidity, hair spray, and hair clay products.
You are going to be busy😊
Thank you for all the information and tips you share with us.
It is much appreciated.
Thank you! I was actually thinking of doing anti humidity products! You think that would be helpful?
I used to use Tresemme Mousse years ago so I will try this new spray.
Would love one of these on anti humidity products!!!
I actually did a video on those as well. If you look through my recent videos you should find it.
@ awesome! Thank you so much!
@@justinhickoxOh yes! I'd love to see more of this type of video. Love the research, trial and error... Or Success!
What a great video! So much time and effort... much appreciated
I use the color wow volumizer. It works great on my very fine thin hair. I would love to see a comparison of root booster products.
That was fun! I've never used that Color Wow for volume. Thanks Justin.
