Good on you sticking to your guns with pricing. People under value our time with sewing. I always say they won't come and clean my house for $1. An hour , why should I labour's for that. 😊
It amazes me that some people wouldn’t work for less than $50 an hour but expect you to work for $10 an hour. They have no idea and probably can’t sew. Agreed good on you for sticking to your guns. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy all your tutorials.
I had a customer as for a discount on one of my handcrafted items. I shared with her about my home-cottage and the time that goes into making my products. But she was persistent over $2. So, I asked her if she would give her boss a discount on her hourly wage or work overtime for free. She gave me a dirty look then left my booth.
A great result, given all the changes to trading days, running out of stock etc, it always surprises me when people don’t hesitate to buy a take away coffee every day but flinch at the price of other things. good on you for speaking up.
Ghee, I would have guessed your sales much higher. I think of you more like an Australian treasure, not simply a maker of product. I must remember to shop your website when looking for gifts. Afterall, the American dollar goes quite far in Australia and how many people can claim to know a national treasure! 😊💙 PS Do remind Chris he is partnered to a national treasure. My guess is he already knows. 😊
People are funny, I used to do 3 hour sewing lessons for $20 and alot thought that was to expensive. They just don't realise the amount of time and energy goes into things. One lady came for about 3 months complaining every time then left and I was only to find out she was teaching her own classes doing the same projects and charging more. I just wanted to share my knowledge just like you do. It's very sad that people are like that. Never mind life's like that but good on you for telling people what you think. (In a nice way).😊
It's amazing how many people are keen to use you for your skill and then pass them off as their own. I bet she wasn't as good a teacherwonder how good a teacher she would have been😁
Thank you, Christine for this video. I love them all! Thanks for talking to us about the business side of things. I also think about the maintenance side of equipment, needles, tools, etc. I have started on one of your doggie pooh pouches, then I'm going to an itty bitty bag!

Here’s a couple of my thoughts: the giant utility bags are so appealing because of the colourful large prints. The supermarket bags last forever, so people aren’t replacing them with new ones. Love your videos! Good work! 🇨🇦
As always I enjoyed your video. Only thing that I was disappointed in was at the end you showed your tags, front and back, and I could not read the "story" side because of the box that shows up for the next video available. Hope you show it again sometime, only show it during the video so we can pause it and read all about you. Now I'm off to see if I can find sources for free fabric here in USA. Happy sewing!!!
I've fixed it now Terri, so everyone can now see what is written on the back of the cards. To save you having to go back, here's what's written..... In my store, and on my website, you will find many products made with all types of unused fabric saved from going to landfill. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey. I hope you enjoy your new product for many years to come.😁
I like all your ideas, I never sawna book pen holder. I use latex free elastic because I am alkergic to latex. I will be making a few with a bunch of zippers I got in bulk years ago. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
Thank you for sharing these again! Always so interesting to see your top sellers. Don’t give in to those who do not value your work-your projects are all gorgeous! I am so thankful for you❤
Love your videos. I have used your ideas to make things for a charity that provides dresses for girls in Uganda. The girls can't go to school unless they have a dress that covers their knees. I also make the dresses. Thanks
Hi Christine Unfortunately certain members of the public are so used to buying cheap, poorly made products from overseas sweat shops that they don’t appreciate decently made items. As you say, they wouldn’t work for just a couple of $$s an hour so why should anybody else. Keep up the good work Love your videos.😊
Bravo for telling the truth about hand made items! People don't understand the cost involved in the production of hand crafts. They forget labor and you should be getting paid for that!

I think you achieved a great total seeing as you are only open 3 days a week. I'm sure once you re-stock your best selling items and then Xmas will be here soon. sales will be on the up again. I loved the fabric on your utility bags #6 - also your butterfly top is very pretty. Say 'hello' to Chris 🥸 been a while since he was in a video 🤔😁
Good video Christine nice sales you are doing really good its getting me to make some of your products thinking of going to do a couple of markets see how I go
I wonder if you put some tissue paper inside the expandable boxed pouches, people will notice how large it is, and that it's larger than it appears. I've done that with my tote bags. I also sell more bags when they're hanging up. Your expandable boxed bag is as large as the other boxed bag, it just doesn't look like it at a glance. I have to confess, I've made at least one of most of your tutorials. Some of the larger items I haven't as I don't always have enough fabric. I mix and match fabrics like you do, but I can only make a fat quarter go so far. I have to leave some fabric for Amish Star potholders and Bowl Cozies. I see people buying precut interfacing for both. Who needs a piece of batting, precut for cozies. You need two 10" squares, cotton batting on both, find the center on North, South East nd West, sew the dart, clip, then slap the two together, turn RSO and it's done after top stitching. People spending $40 for a piece of interfacing with the grid for Amish Stars. How difficult is it to draw lines horizontal and vertical, and diagonally. They don't send any fabric for the prairie points, or the insulbrite, just a piece of interfacing. I'm in the wrong business! I make my own patterns as well.
Hi Christine. I love your expandable shoe bags and have made some for little girls. I am wanting to make some for men with shoe 10 -11 US size. Would you be able to tell me how to modify the pattern for larger shoes?

Hi Christine
Unfortunately certain members of the public are so used to buying cheap, poorly made products from overseas sweat shops that they don’t appreciate decently made items.
As you say, they wouldn’t work for just a couple of $$s an hour so why should anybody else. Keep up the good work

Sounds like a clear explanation to me.
Thanks Lesley. Chris has had a very busy time lately with his parents farm😁
I agree with #10 I made a few and only 1 sold. I sold them for $3NZ
Sometimes they can take a while to get going Erin.😁
Here in NZ everyone is finding the recession has greatly reduced sales. People are only buying things to survive like food and paying bills.
Seems to be the same here in Australia from what I find.
I think it's the same everywhere.
Yes, I'm sure that's had an impact too Erin😁
Way to go Christine!
I have learnt sooooo much from you - thank you ❤ - about to start selling myself xx
Thanks Tracy. Good luck with your sales😁
Good video Christine nice sales you are doing really good its getting me to make some of your products thinking of going to do a couple of markets see how I go
I hope they do really well for you Pamela😁
I've been making tumbler tote bags with matching fabric lids
That sounds like a fun idea😁
Thank you Christine! 🙂
My pleasure Leseann😁
Thanks for sharing. Love your top
Thank you😁
I wonder if you put some tissue paper inside the expandable boxed pouches, people will notice how large it is, and that it's larger than it appears.
That's a good idea Sharon. I put tissue in my other larger bags, didn't think of the shoe bags😁
Hi Christine. I love your expandable shoe bags and have made some for little girls. I am wanting to make some for men with shoe 10 -11 US size. Would you be able to tell me how to modify the pattern for larger shoes?
Laura, you could add a couple of inches both ways to the fabric and the zipper, and finish it the same way. It will make it longer and more spacious😁
It's amazing that you sold 44% fewer items this year than last year, but your income is only 7% less than last year.
I agree Marianne. Making the larger more expensive bags seems to be more profitable for me😁
Love your quarterly review videos. Thank you for sharing the info. Do you take handmade items on consignment?
Thanks Marianne. I don't take consignment. I don't want the resposibility of losing stock that belongs to other people to theft😁
Wonderful!
Is there a tutorial on the giant utility bags?
Thanks you.
Yes there is Linda. There are links to all the bags in the description and pinned comments. ruclips.net/video/ab_B84czBkM/видео.htmlsi=AiL-hJ5gvHVpHMKT
