    I love the passion for British people to renovate things. You are pure gold to Bulgarian villages. ❤❤❤ In a world with so many fake values is so atractive to see tough man biulding and his woman help him. Love people who leave their vision and ability to their project , not just pay someone to do everything choosed from some magazine. Sorry for this comment just saving money for same thing and counting days this thins really touch me. Hope you find what you need in this place ❤❤❤

      Hi Olive and thank you 😊🙏 To be fair we have had to have some help now with some of the work which was beyond us, but we'll continue to do as much as we possibly can ourselves.
      We have limited funds which we have to manage wisely, so some things we may have to do without. I guess we'll see how things go 😉
      I hope you can start your amazing journey soon.. 😉 Take care and thanks again ❤️❤️❤️

    Guys, you have a really good house, that needs a lot of love. It is a wonderful structure.
    I have seen videos of other British people in Bulgaria, filming a family that is there for a while. They shared that they were not happy about the outside stairs to the second floor but now they don't even think about it.
    So register with a doctor as health is important, get ready for the winter as you need to stay warm and crack on. And please, don't forger to ask the locals for help when you need it.

    Order 10 cubic metres of logs before the winter kicks in. Make sure you order unchopped logs and do them yourself. The ready to use are quite dear in price. As a big bloke I don't think some exercise with an axe would be an issue for you.
    Get some rooms fixed at first with a shower and loo. It's a huge expense but you need to get it done before the winter.
    Next year do double/triple glazing on few rooms, including loft and wall insulation along with CH on either gas( via LPG bottles or direct if you have that there ) or pellets/ logs. You aim should be to sort a small bit at first as you bought a massive property and from what I gathered your funds are modest. Trust me when I say winters can be harsh. That's my piece of advice.
    Insulation is very essential ( especially on those old buildings) as from what I know logs and other means of heating skyrocketed in price.
    Yours truly,
    Svetoslav
    Ps any info you struggle to obtain, don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my utmost best to assist you. Unlike most Brits, Bulgarian community spirit in rural areas is very strong. People will go out of their way to help if they can, and that applies to me as well.
    Edit: I didn't follow your channel long enough to advise you in time to sort some things in the UK prior to travel. Clothing and tech is very expensive in Bulgaria. A tee shirt you buy for a tenner would likely be about 70-80 bgn( 30-35 GBP) and black and white goods are even dearer.

    • @LillaHusVanlife
      @LillaHusVanlife  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you so very much for the good advice there Svetoslav..
      Some of it is already in hand and yes we're finding some things are quite expensive compared to the UK although some bits and pieces are cheaper. If we don't get a part of the house ready before the cold weather sets in, then at least we have our van which we have lived in for over 2 and a half years, Wintering in Scotland the first year and also Romania and Bulgaria last Winter.
      The local people in the village have been pretty good for the most part, with only one or two exceptions..I hope that once we get the hard work done, we get more time to stop and chat. Thanks for the offer of help with things, it means a lot 🙏 Take care..

      @@LillaHusVanlife no bother at all mate. We're intending to find our own piece of heaven over there in the nearby vicinity ourselves come January at the latest and deffo looking forward to it. Anything you find confusing lemme know.
      Truly yours,
      Svetoslav
      Edit: the most important difference is utilities and local taxes. In the UK , if you don't pay your awful high council tax, they can force you to pay your debt(by forcing you to sell your house(. For the excruciating amounts we pay, there is not much back( in my 80% goes for elderly and child care) . Utilities are cheap as chips as well. Broadband is good and affordable - I had 150 Mbps in Sofia 20 years ago(for 25 bgn), whilst Brits had copper with guaranteed speed of 1mbps. Also there is no TV licence and you'll not be sent to the gaol if you have telly for Netflix....
      You can live really well still in Bulgaria with about 1k a month(in euro) but some things are best left for the time you nip back to blighty. Hopefully that helps. See you next time ;)

    There wouldn't be a truck queue at the border if Bulgaria (and Romania) were members of land Schengen, for now only by air, hopefully soon we will be also admitted fully into Schengen and all these truck or car queues on the borders (with Greece and Romania, at least) would remain in the past.

    You got plenty of space in the outbuildings, so keep all the stuff there, which you have no need for. In about 20 to 30 years, guys will be willing to pay quite a surplus for it. Ask me me how I know.
    Another observation: the living quarters of your lot look very charming from the outside. Really something to fall in love with! But this does not match with with the rooms inside at all.
    In my very humble opinion, it would be the the ultimate task to bring the room arrangement and style to match the outside. If this makes sense.

After all previous owners was Bulgarians and they have left behind all the stuff new owners are now taking care off.

      Hi Billy, and thank you 😊
      I put a pinned comment at the top of the comments list which lets folk know the cost, which there are lots of opinions about..lol
      Our place in in the VT region of Bulgaria near Pavlikeni. As far as the company bit, you will need to have one to buy any land as a foreign national, yes.
      There are people who can assist you with this if necessary 👍 Hope that helps

    I am curious how you communicate with the local villagers when you don't speak Bulgarian...are you using translation services for various government requirements like taxes, real estate, business registration or you already have local friends for help?

    • @LillaHusVanlife
      @LillaHusVanlife  2 месяца назад +1

      We have been picking up some of the basics, but a lot is done via Google translate at the moment. Even the locals use it when they want to chat. For anythng official, we have friends who help.

    they selling houses with their personal items in it?or something bad happen to all family and nobody left to remove them?

    • @LillaHusVanlife
      @LillaHusVanlife  2 месяца назад

      Usually these houses come to the market after a death and the nearest relatives take things that matter to them..what's left is usually small things of no real value to who ever is selling the property.. The way of life unfortunately.

    The condition of the house is not bad and it is build with a style,its not just a random place with four walls as comunists period houses were made,i bet it belonged to some rich person before the comunism and they took it away from the owners,thats what comunists did with inteligent and rich people and if they dont kill them (they killed 30 000 doctors ,architects,profesors,scientists etc ,the flower of the nation)they send them into exile into the country side,i watch other people from the UK they bought two houses arroun d veliko tarnovo and both are build with taste and are very beautiful,but not in condition as good as yours.....godspeed

      We don't know much about the history of the place, but it certainly has a style about it which doesn't show from the outside. Once we stepped into the entrance it looked grand, despite the years of neglect.. Thank you 😊🙏

    • @LillaHusVanlife
      @LillaHusVanlife  2 месяца назад +1

      Not worried about the UK economy as all countries have their issues really..
      But being out here we have more freedom to travel, better weather, no one's bothered by the fact we've been living in a van..
      The food prices are comparable with the UK with some things cheaper and some more expensive..
      It's not for everybody tho, which we can see, but if it doesn't work out, at least we've tried.. 👍
