please remember to be nice in the comments :)
You might also consider comparing the Unaired Pilot with Welcome to the Hellmouth rather than the movie. Apples to apples rather than to oranges.
@@robertwade3845 Or do both.🤷♂"Both. Both. Yeah,both is good.U.U"
I really enjoyed this review 😄. For season two review I'd like you to revisit your predictions for the season and see if you managed to actually predict
Also, please don't look at the comments at all. There are lots of positives about Buffy Fandom, but especially on videos like this they can't help but yak their spoilers all over the place.
@@jackmars931 "Also, please don't look at the comments at all."Hey,what do you mean?!?I worked on my 2 comments,I had to divide them because it would have been too long to comment the video and then doing my personal ranking of Villains and episodes and you're suggesting her not to read it?!What did I wrote them for, then?!?>^
This is frustrating, because this is absolutely terrific but I can't tell you why without being spoilery. Your approach to the show is EXACTLY what it should be. "The characters haven't had to face themselves yet" 2:15 is a great thing to anticipate. You will come back to this in the future and be stunned, not because you got everything right (you didn't), but because you'll see how much on the right track your thinking was.
Hope that was obscure enough. 😉This makes me look forward to your future reactions even more!
"This is frustrating, because this is absolutely terrific but I can't tell you why without being spoilery."
that's complete bullsh%$ even watching buffy for the first time having Angel at the lowest tier once you know he is a vampire is criminal...to fully appreciate a character or villain u have to do the following: sit back and ask yourself what they are fully capable off...not what they delivered to you and if you liked them...in that sense like Moloch for example is almost godly level...
@@IDyce88 Or - and I know this is a crazy thought - people are allowed to have their own opinions - separate from yours!
I myself have watched Buffy multiple times, and Angel always remains one of my least favorite characters.
Spoilers:
Yes, I have also watched the spin-off, and while it made me like him slightly better, he is still my least favorite on that show.
I am not sure if Cass is aware of the spin-off, which is why I split the comment this way.
@@amandabaker4678 all i'm saying is this there is a difference between what a character does for you and their worth in terms of potential lore wise...the lore is fact...what the character does for you is indeed opinion yes...your right. but if your ignorant of how a character really works...that kind of fades the issue. like not knowing what a praying mantis is for example...or that universally (not just in buffy) witchcraft is not necessarily evil...it's about how it is used. on that note i'm ending my part in this discussion.
@@IDyce88 Her justification for not liking his relationship with Buffy is absolutely valid, their age gap is simply not seen as something acceptable today. Also she explains at length that he has his own tier *because she doesn't know what to think about him yet*. If she straight up hadn't liked him he would have been in the "No" tier.
Honestly, for me you are the perfect buffy reactor. I really enjoy your reactions and hope you continue enjoying the show :)
Cordy didn’t call her boyfriend by two different names in the last two episodes; they were different boyfriends. (And the second one is now dead, so maybe she can go back to the other guy…or move on to someone new…again.)
Yes, Mitch talking about not her arm he wants to be was gross, and him shaming her for talking to Willow, but Cordy actually liking Kevin was cute, and then he died ( he actually also got her talking to a willow).
"It's a TV Show. It is fun to 'ship' characters. If I want to 'ship' Angel and The Master, I am going to do that." 🤣
as much time and effort it takes to film and edit a video (you do such a great job), it takes even more to do the rankings...I truly appreciate the time, effort, thought, and heart you put into to this and hope you continue it in future seasons or even future shows
I'm with you in general on my feelings about Angel and Buffy. When the show first aired i had 2 teenage daughters so the age gap was pretty disturbing to me. However in defense of that relationship the power dynamic really isn't so lopsided. Buffy has abilities that elevate her far beyond a normal teenage girl and she is more than Angel's equal physically. Emotionally she still has some catching up to do but it's just not the same as Twilight or The Vampire Diaries. As far as episode rankings while for me there are some that are difficult to watch there are none in the entire show that would rank no.
At least it's much better than Twilight because the two characters are on more equal footing in that they both have supernatural powers, not to mention that they are just better written.
@@Dunybrook
But most importantly, in my opinion, Angel treats Buffy with respect, while Edward does not treat Bella with respect.
Edward watched Bella sleeping for months, without ever seeming to consider how she might feel about that. That's not respectful. That's a billion miles away from respectful.
@@UTU49 i wouldn't really say angel particularly treats buffy with respect, most of the time more like a child
Also, when we do later learn about Angel's backstory, we realise that he wasn't exactly emotionally mature for his (human) age. The century spent as a souled vampire wasn't really spent in self-reflection either. Not saying it isn't creepy, but there are legitimately some twenty-somethings who are more on par with teenagers than their own age group. Granted Angel's the worst kind of that dynamic -- the refusal to take responsibility type, not the social learning disorder type -- but it still helps put him on closer ground to Buffy.
Angel is also extremely emotionally immature. It helps somewhat in making his relationship with Buffy seem more foolish than creepy. There have been other immortal characters...like say either of the Macleods from Highlander who would seem extremely creepy in relationships with teenage girls, because they're portrayed as mature and adult in their thinking and behavior.
Angel acting like a teenager is vital to making the whole B/A thing not seem like an S.A. thing.
This is GREAT! I can't believe how in depth you went!!! Thanks!💜
I'm really enjoying your reactions, and I can't wait for season 2, you are a fantastic reactor!
There are so many Buffy reactors right now, and I might be wrong, but it seems like many of them only do it because they know it will get them enough subscribers to start a Patreon. There's no real enthusiasm. I've seen some where they overreact at key scenes and make too accurate predictions, to the degree that it's clear that they know what's coming. Some go to the other extreme and don't even bother to remember the names of the characters. I now just hide new reactors when they pop up on my feed. You seem like the real deal, though, taking notes and not being afraid to have opinions that differ from the consensus of the fandom. Plus, you're really charming and insightful. I'm looking forward to your updates! Love, a longtime hardcore Buffy fan
I feel like trying to do this while dodging spoilers for a twenty+ year old show that was a pop culture phenomenon must be a nightmare. If you can pull it off for the whole series, I envy the surprises you'll get to have.
Wow, Cass u went thru the lists like a professional showrunner. u know your stuff. I think season 1, is so underated. So critical for building the credibility of a "high school, new kid, wheres home room" experience. Pulling us back to relive that scary small big teenage world. Why should we care about the nerd girl or guy, the new kid with superpowers, the mean girl, or that new creepy librarian? Season 1. Thats why!!!
“I Robot, You Jane”, I agree with most of what you’re saying, but I would have put it slightly higher because of one thing: how cool and badass Rupert Giles is when he casts that spell!!!!!!!
The depth that you went into for this was truly admirable. Thank you for putting so much effort and work into this.
I enjoyed hearing your perspective and rankings. Looking forward to season 2! 💙
I think your ratings are very solid and well-reasoned. Anyone who would strongly disagree with your character rankings is probably being influenced by things outside of Season One.
Having said that, (NO SPOILERS) just based on what we get in S1, I would place Darla under the icon status. My reasoning is twofold:
1) She's the first vampire we see in the series. She subverts the expectation that even you had, of being a damsel in distress, when in reality she IS the danger. Bonus points for being Angel's sire!
2) Vamps tend to rely on their strength and numbers; we see it over and over again. But Darla weaponizes an ally against Buffy, AND uses psychological sabotage. She also decides to keep her distance from someone with VAMPIRE SLAYER in her title, and uses guns instead. All other vamps in S1 are troglodytes by comparison 😂
Looking forward to your continued journey, and I for one would definitely enjoy your take on the Buffy movie. It's fun and camp, but gets overlooked because it doesn't fit the aesthetic established in the series.
Extremely fair reasonings for Darla.
“What’s with the school girl look? Last time i saw you it was Kimonos…”
I loved the inclusion of the "Angel" category in your tier ranking list! I also felt similarly about the guy when I first watched the show.
I didn't,but I must point out I probably started to watch the show from ep 3x04. Also, the age gap thing was never an issue for me because Angel was surely not behaving like an old centenary man and I never knew what his human age was and I had no reason to believe he was *much* older than Buffy. After all...Nick and Charisma both played 16 years old and(like David)were instead from 26 to 28 years old!!HOW was I supposed to know Angel was older than those 2?!?!@.@
Ty, I enjoyed this. I cannot wait for season 2. I hope you have good mods because I don't want you to get spoiled.
You re ALREADY my favourite buffy reactor, period. And you are only on season 1, that says a lot. As a gay man, buffy meant so much to me growing up, being an outcast and all, so this show has a special place in my heart, and trust me you are in for a RIDE
1 whole hour of video for measly season 1?! whooww can't wait for when we get to the meaty seasons
A mid-season, late 90s WB teen action/comedy/horror, shoestring budget replacement show, with an unproven producer and largely unknown cast, and no particular expectation of renewal. Based on a poorly received movie.
If you liked THAT...then you're stuck for 6 more seasons.
Buckle up, the show's quality rockets vertically from here.
Thank you so much for reacting to season one and giving us this wrapup :) Can't wait to watch more seasons with you and learn more insights through your eyes!
As someone who watched this show as a teen when it originally aired, I can tell you I, nor anyone I knew, thought about the Buffy/Angel age difference. All the girls LOVED Angel, and shipped him and Buffy big time.

The character rankings make sense given your exposure to the characters. A few will definitely move upward and a few that will be icons by the end. I'd really love to see how the ranking changes after each episode (without explanation until the season end) especially after particular episodes where some of them may shift downward.
Where was Xavier's ranking? lol
Love your videos. You broke my heart a little bit by not loving Angel but hopefully that will change.
I cant wait to follow you through season 2, season 2 btw. just might be the best season 2 in television history
Principal Snyder is an Icon and a great man. I would vote for him for President...twice.
Nah, not a president type, I see him just being the best bartender in the universe.
Wow, you went deep into the character rankings and I think overall you did well given where you are on the Buffy journey. It will be super interesting to see how these change as you continue. Cannot wait for season 2 and would like to join the chorus by saying you are a great reactor and am very much looking forward to seeing the rest of the show through your eyes!
I love your tier lists so much, I'm gonna need you to bring this back out when you finish season two and review/re-rank as needed. Amazing work!
dont worry, Buffy pioneered long arcs in television.
The relationship between Buffy and Angel is actually the gold standard on which the Twilight relationships were modeled. As to what Angel has been up to for the past century or so, and why he's interested in Buffy, you'll have to wait for that to unravel.
As we say in Italian, don't compare shit to chocolate.
@@Nicamon, I did not make the original comparison. I just made certain that the arrow of causality was properly aligned.
I never really cared about the Buffy and Angel relationship as even when the show first aired I found Angel dull AF and nothing much had changed
@@chrisallen19821982 I strongly disagree with this. #Justice4Angel 🖤
@@Nicamon agreed 👏 Angel is one of my faves.
I love how you pay attention to the detail in this show. There are a lot of callbacks to past episodes that will pay off. Never stop giving us your predictions!! It makes it more fun for me to watch. You will be blown away by this show!
Like some have said below, I am really happy you are doing BTVS. Your attitude is wonderful and you are just a pleasure to watch. I hope that, like me, each season gets better and better for you. It really is an awesome show.
31:15 That's probably very intentional, there is usually a metaphor in Buffy episodes, especialyy the early ones. What Buffy fights in a metaphor for something that teenagers might have to deal with. Like a mom taking over her kid's life, like internet dating, like adults who may not turn out to be preying amntises but are just as likely to prey on them.
Looking at your villain tier list gives me a lot of insight into your psychology and your statement that you don't expect to see any of them again is also interesting.
I've loved your reactions to season 1 and can't wait for you to see the rest of the series! You give such great in-depth analysis and there are so many great moments/episodes/seasons coming up.
To be fair to Angel, in many ways he is relearning what it means to be human from scratch after a lengthy stint as a demon. Power wise Buffy is functionally a super hero, and the natural predator of vampires.
when i mention power imbalance - i’m 10000% talking about emotional intelligence over physical, which i think is the main issue with age gap relationships involving a younger party (your brain isn’t fully developed until your 25 etc etc). however buffy also isn’t a regular 16 year old - but so far i’ve seen ‘the slayer’ mostly shine through in her physical strength and mental determination. she still has the heart and feelings of an actual 16 year old! and angel has 100+ years of life experience. it puts me on edge. of course, angel is going to become even more fleshed out and even get his own tv show so i don’t know his character anywhere near completion yet. i’m interested to learn more about him and see if my mind veers one way or the other! :)
He's still a demon - he's just a demon with a soul.
I think most people are trying to justify it the wrong way- they try to say Angel is emotionally immature or something, I don't think that should matter. What matters is he's a vampire, they're fictional creatures, and we're meant to see the story through Buffy's point of view. In a way, it doesn't matter what Angel's perspective is, because he represents Buffy's internal character journey. Even in the episode "Angel," he's her projection of what she wants and is afraid of in a partner. I think some other Buffy commentator had made a similar point as well.
Tldr: although we don't know Angel's "technical" age, vampires be old, that's kind of part of the mythology, and vampire/slayer romances are cool, anything else only works because it's fiction and we don't have to think about it too hard. If we did, it wouldn't work anymore.
Marcie's reasoning:
Cordelia: the reason my life sucks
Harmony: too dumb to live
Giles and the others in the basement: they knew too much
Buffy: she was getting in the way
all of them: because i'm crazy 🤣
to be fair as the robot Moloch WAS linked to the net at first...but then he lost the connection...THEN he got pissed. Moloch believes knowledge is power...so he hated feeling empty.
Loved this 💜, BtVS is one of the few shows/media that the title character is my favorite character. Buffy will forever be icon status for me xD
Not for me. I probably started to watch"Buffy"from ep 3x04 and *the* character who convinced me to go on watching the show was not Buffy:it was WILLOW!😍😍😍😍
@@Nicamon Agreed. Willow is my ABSOLUTE favourite, but both her and Buffy are the top 2, IMO. Sorry Xander and Giles, I love you both dearly, among ones yet to be introduced!

I haven't watched the rankings yet so I don't want to spoil who might come back and who doesn't. But I hope there's a low-ranked character that you eventually come to be a fan of. Or even a high ranked character that "betrays" you. It'd be fun to look back on this when you're deeper into the series.
I'm so happy! I found your channel through the recommended for your Lana reaction (my favorite artist) and then discovered you do buffy reactions, which is my favourite show. Love your reactions so far
Interesting video. I respect your opinion. Just let you know season 1 was a mid season replacement show that’s why it was only 12 episodes. S2-7 are all full seasons with 22 episodes, and if s1 needed an hour for your review video then prepare to spend around 3 hours per season from s2 on. Can’t wait!
13:00 Cordy is an onion, she has layers.
If you are expecting this show to "hit its stride" between Seasons Three and Four, boy are you in for a surprise. Or two.
English is not my 1st language and I never heared the expression"hit its stride"before...I looked it up and I started to giggle.🤭🤭🤭
As someone who's rewatched Buffy over and over, your reactions and analysis of each episode have been cool to watch. As a 90's kid myself, I love that time period in my life and shows like this and movies like Halloween: H20 and Scream are standouts for me. The Buffy movie came out the year I was born and is a guilty pleasure that I rewatch every year. You're doing awesome and looking forward to your reactions of Season 2.
Based on just the first season your rankings are great. No spoilers some characters might slide back and forth a bit between seasons. I don’t know if going forward you might want to do a disclaimer of not ranking all the characters cause they’re are going to be a lot.
Marcie didn’t know Buffy because she joined the school after Marcy “disappeared.”
I'm glad you decided to do a season wrap-up video. Some reactors don't do them, but I've always enjoyed them. :) Some of your thoughts had me chuckling because I know what's to come. lol
The master was just an extremely old vampire who ran his own vampire order. The older the vampire the stronger, also human features dissipate and vampire features project taking primary place.
Also, they develop Kool-Aid mouth.
i fully agree with your stance on shipping! awaiting your enemies to lovers angel/the master fanfic :D
Great work...can't wait for season 2+.
Great season review. Loved the lists. Welcome to the Hellmouth, The Harvest, Angel, and Prophecy Girl are probably the only season 1 episodes that are required viewing. Everything else is skippable to varying degrees and everyone has their own favorite guilty pleasures. I personally probably would have rated The Puppet Show higher just for all the comedic moments and the fact that they made me care about a creepy possessed ventriloquist doll.
Can't wait to see what you think of season 2 as the show gets even better and continues to subvert expectations like no other television show ever.
Cordelia had at least two different boyfriends in season one. Mitch and her apparently broke up and Kevin was one of the casualties in the student lounge. You could say she's been through it already, probably like many of the citizens of Sunnydale outside the main cast.
You also left out the beloved Dr. Gregory, apparently the only good and caring teacher in Sunnydale High at the time, who, of course, didn't live long past his introduction.
You do have me wondering what would have happened if vampire Jesse had lived and gone on to have a romance with Buffy or Cordelia or one of the other main cast members. You totally could have been a writer on this show.
glad to see a new, passionate Buffy reactor enter the chat. welcome aboard!
The Agents we see Marcie being taken by claim to be from the FBI. But, seeing as the FBI is basically a Federal Police Agency, and don't do assassinations (maybe under Hoover, that dude was fucked), it's likely the Agents are with some other organization that may routinely employ those tactics, or lie about their affiliation (ie: CIA, NSA, or some such)
Without spoiling, let’s just say that you’re gonna want at least one, or maybe two, higher episode tiers in the future. And there’ll be some mobility among the characters.
Who spoiled the Angel/Master romance?!😅😊
Two weeks?? This is worst than wait for a TV show break 😂😂
Cass, the reason Billy was in a coma in the first place was because the coach beat him. He was definitely physically abusive
I’m thoroughly enjoying your reaction videos. I will add my name to the list of folks who would like to see your reaction to the movie before too long. You’re in the perfect space right now. You know how the world of the show functions, you can appreciate the differences between the show and the movie that inspired it, and you can get the “whole story” on how Buddy became the Slayer before its completely irrelevant.
I’m excited to see how season 2 goes for you. Without spoilers, it’s definitely a fun ride!
The character tier list earns you a sub from me. Looking forward to checking out your content
Oh boy, I'm looking forward to your new tier rankings at the end of Season 2 ;)
I love the first season ,i love them all .
Welcome to the Buffy reaction universe. We’ve all been wondering what we would do as a few of the current reactors are coming to an end.
Really enjoying your reactions.
The monster rankings are a great inclusion in this, I hope you do that every season!
You have to remember that originally Angel was suppose to be close to Buffy’s age like around 18/19 (which is why Buffy describes him as a first year student at community college or why he looks really young in comparison to other seasons. As well as other stuff in S2) it was later on as the show went on they changed the age of Angel to match the age of the actor since he was starting to age
Please someone moderate the comments stating how the characters develop for the remainder of the show.
Hopefully this kind of video doesn't prompt people to differ with you on your rankings and in doing so reveal spoilers about characters.
It should be abundantly clear she's ranking them only on what has been shown so far, and it's okay to not like characters that others like.
People love Darla becasue SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! . Now I think that you understand how people love Darla.
Of the 7 seasons season 1 will always hold a special place as my favorite of them all.
As for episodes in particular I' Robot You Jane, Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, and Welcome To The Hell mouth being my favorite episodes.
Great video that I found much more interesting and enjoyable than I thought it would be.
No Dr Gregory?
You broke my Angel loving heart 😂.
R.I.P. Dave
...wait, was Adam in The Pack too?
Marcie, i think only went after Buffy because she was interupting her plan to go after Cordy, dame as the teacher. Plus as Giles put it she had gone insane at that point.
Yes the coach literally pulverizee Billy into a coma
My personal 12(which I think is different for everyone): 12, 10, 1 , 2, 3, 6, 11, 9, 7, 5, 4.
Personally, I would love a unaired pilot reaction to Buffy more than the movie ;)
5:45 I think the idea was to have a fairly stereotypical villain s they could spend the time on leting us get to know the "heroes".
I think you missed an important point about the prophecy concerning The Anointed and The Master. [Note: While prophecies are referenced in later BVS & Angel episodes, I'm not spoiling anything.]
In Prophecy Girl, when the Master says "Prophecies are tricky things; if you hadn't come, I couldn't go." He's not only talking about the one prophecy. All prophecies in the Buffyverse are tricky things that rarely turn out as expected. Buffy didn't know who the Anointed was and he did lead her into hell (her death). She did face the Master in battle and she did die. Both these prophecies ended up in her winning, but they were still technically true.
Remember this point. Prophecies in Buffy are usually true, but they're also usually stupid, they come true in unexpected ways, and they don't turn out the way you want.
One of the things I love about Buffy is that I notice new things everytime I watch it.
My most recent discovery was realizing that Prophecy Girl was hinted at during the end credits of The Puppet Show - the scene they are acting out is from _Oedipus Rex_ which is play that hinges on the fact that "Prophecies are tricky things"!
The first season was a test season for the network to see if it would hit since Buffy was a mid season replacement, meaning it replaced a show which wasn't doing well in the ratings. That is why there are only 12 eps in season one as opposed to 22 which was the normal number. Because Buffy was on the WB and not on a big network like CBS or NBC, it never got the huge ratings programs on those networks did, but it did gain a loyal following of devoted fans which allowed it to go on for seven seasons on two different networks spawning a spinoff. Back in the day, unlike today, metrics for TV shows were ratings not clicks or engagement like we do today on stream channels if that makes sense. Also I don't find the age gap between Angel and Buffy problematic for the reason that Buffy is no average 16 year old, she is way more mature and therefore they are kind of on a similar footing mentally Plus she is a slayer so there is that. No one is going to take advantage or make her do anything she doesn't want which would not happen in a RL toxic relationship.
"normal" as they' cut the number back from the usual 26/+ that were the regular number in the 50s-60s.
@@kurtsnyder4752 Plus down to 42-min eps from 48-min eps.
@@samsonau8205 Back in the 50s, hours were 51:30 and half's 28:15 and there were some 19:00 twenties and 14:00 fifteen minute programs.

Rankings were spot on with one exception. Flutie had some really funny moments. I was sad to see him go. Also, nice to some appreciation for Adam. 😂
I'm watching your ranking of these characters and I want to comment, however, I don't want to give any spoilers.
The pack is my favorite of the season the music is perfect to me and I think Nicholas Brendon really shines acting animalistic, the laugh, the sniffing is everything to me
one of my favs also alpha Xander was dark his smile and laugh was spot on
Nicholas Brendon played that character shift so well.
It's also great because the actor who played Kyle, one of the bullies, went on to star in Once Upon a Time, another amazing show.
@@Dunybrook Speaking about Kyle,I believe *he* was the leader of the pack...I don't know why people say it was Xander..he wasn't even _with_ the pack half of the time, how could _he_ be the leader?!?ò.O

If you enjoyed season 1 this much, you’re in for a ride of a lifetime.
Sid has his own spin off book actually...but it's hard to find...it tells you how he became a dummy...it does also mention the Korean Slayer.
Marcie has a spin off book about her as well...i think it was called Agent 17 or Agent 19...i know it was Agent and then a number. it basically is about Marcie being a government agent/ assassin...she's still invisible and a little nuts. But she isn't evil anymore.
This maybe the BEST ranking video I've ever seen.
Well done.
Hey Cass.
Just rediscovered your ( new channel ) because of this video so I've got a lot ( Buffy, HoftD, TLofU, Wednesday ) to binge it seems.
Question for you.
What happened to your old channel and how come you stopped reacting to "Breaking Bad" ?
I LOVED those reactions and was waiting for months for them to return but they never did. Then your old channel vanished.
Loved seeing your Buffy ranking video last night and can't wait to begin my journey of seeing Buffy through your eyes.
Some of those questions were really evil, considering we know what really will happen. I loved it.
Wait?... That guy has a name?!!! HIS NAME IS ADAM?!!!
Actually, all of the characters are born out of archetypes (see Victoria Lynn Schmidt's book "45 Master Characters) and they remain true to their archetypes throughout the show, while also demonstrating the way that archetypes can grow while still remaining familiar enough to follow and only being changed by significant events in their lives.
20:00 Jesse wouldn't mind at all being placed next to Cordelia. That said Jesse the human and Jesse the vampire should probably be two different characters. Remember what Buffy said in episode 2 "You're looking at the thing that killed him".
I didn’t know adam had a name. I always called him “surfer dude “.
i can sum up the characters like this...lets use the measurement of brain, heart, caution and strength:
Giles: Brain: 8.5, Heart: 9.5, Caution: 9, Strength: 5.5
Buffy: Brain: 6.5, Heart: 8, Caution: 6, Strength: 10
Willow: Brain: 8, Heart: 9.5, Caution: 8, Strength: 4 (not counting magic)
Giles has more experience and caution than Willow...his priority is the safety of Buffy and other others. His only real flaw is that he sees Buffy as more a daughter than a student and that is not his job as a Watcher.
I love rank lists!
That said, it's hard for me to rank characters for individual seasons since I know them for the entire series.
I can rank episodes, though!
S - Prophesy Girl
A - Angel; Welcome To The Hellmouth; The Harvest; The Witch
B - Out of Mind, Out Of Sight, The Puppet Show
C - The Pack; Nightmares
D - Never Kill A Boy On The First Date
Meh - Teacher's Pet; I Robot, You Jane
Not a lot of episodes make it into top tier. I'm probably more kind to most of the A- and B-tier episodes than most. Still, S1 is probably still weaker then most of the rest.
Watched this for 20 years never knew the stoner's name was Adam I was immediately thinking of something else lol.if you know u know
Yes, Cordy is an icon. So is Darla. You will see
Keep in mind everyone. These kids are merely moving forward one grade level at Sunnydale High. Our expectations should be suitably, low. Especially in discipline and obedience. Now, get to class. ~Principal Snyder.
Plenty of seeds planted but when the first season aired it was a mid-season replacement in the first place, and was picked up for another; only one, season so late that ASH had to withdraw from a recurring role in a TV series in the UK to continue on Buffy. It was not expected to be picked up so though there was enough ground laid, very little of it was set up. A lot of people seem to dislike the first season, but it's my second favourite, which I only watched as my local library had the DVDs when I was waiting for the second half of Season 4 to air on the BBC. Two of my favourite characters; Giles & Cordy are already present, but my favourite will not arrive for quite some time. Buffy has always been an outlier for me, as I do not like TV; Movies or books about Vampires; etc, but it jas always been true for me that the secondary & recurring characters are the ones that keep me coming back. Giles & Cordy obviously here, but several season one eps had appearances from characters that I still love twenty years later, kerk
A character facing themselves is sort of a later in the show type thing so season 2 is a bit early for that in a 7 season show. You might be too used to shorter season and fewer season formats of newer shows, which this is not. However, they may face parts of themselves but gotta keep some stuff for later. Gotta pace yourself!
I grew up in the 60s & 70s when seasons(series to our UK viewers) had as many as 39-42 episodes, like Bonanza, Perry Mason, and Gunsmoke had. I like me a rerun , especially when I have not seen the original broadcast, though can be disappointed when , with more than 26 episodes, and only the same number of weeks to show them, some don't get a second showing, until in syndication. I also like the so called "filler" episode as these give character development.
Oh, Giles will be in icon status very soon...
Given the number of people who die in this show, who do you see dying next season? Could be another list each season.
Good choices, Cass. I mean mine are different but you stick to your guns. The key to Prophecy Girl is choice. Buffy chooses fully to accept her role as the Slayer and everything that brings. Keep going! ❤
Spoiler.....
OMG, the throwaway prediction of the principals becoming a running joke... One of my favorite little moments in season 7 is "the last 2 principals were eaten, who would even apply for that job" 😅 Love it!
