- The Subaru WRX is an amazing car for fun and spirited driving, but is also tame and refined so that you can enjoy it as a daily driver. Let's be real here, only reason to get a WRX over STI is your base budget (i.e. monthly payments). You're not getting good gas mileage with a performance WRX anyways and we don't buy a WRX/STI for good gas mileage, period. He put so much money into air suspension and the exterior that he should never ever mentioned gas mileage ever again. You can afford Varis bumper, you can afford extra gas. Moving on. I didn't hear about about engine reliability mods that's done on the car right now at this moment so it's actually sad to see so much money invested into this WRX without the supporting reliability mods. If you want your engine to last longer and work properly, do it right and invest in reliability mods before the air suspension and body kits. Just my .02 cents. He's had the car since 2015 and is missing important reliability mods. I don't even think he has an AOS - air oil separator.
I agree with you, but I definitely think he’s more focused on show rather than performance. Some of his points he brings up concern me definitely, “ not tuned for the front mount and running the tune from before he had it “ & “ not even knowing he had a burble tune “ just seems a little sketchy to me. No hate to the guy I see his wrx all over Instagram , me personally I’m building mine to be more track & driven focused. To each their own love the build regardless.
I disagree. It’s a completely different motor and at the time a new motor, with a way more efficient design. And honestly if you threw 4K into both sti and wrx, the new wrx would be faster in a straight line. I see where you are coming from but in my opinion it’s kind of an exciting platform, especially when it came out.
@@wesopyt9476 definitely more show focused. I don’t track the car or do anything crazy like that, although that sounds like a fun time. In regards to the tune, Ive been monitoring the numbers (afr’s, fine knock, dam, basically everything the tuner highlights to watch out for) and have ensured everything is in the ranges that were mentioned were fine for the motor. Later down the line I plan to go flex fuel and to add ewg. will 100% get a whole new tune for that. In regards to the burble tune, I had a daily before I went to stage 2 so I don’t typically drive it a whole lot which is why I didn’t notice it earlier. I’m currently switching my tune to non- burble. I respect and appreciate the positive feedback man!🤙
Preciate the feedback, so currently I’m running an catch can, have an oil cooler on the way, upgraded radiator fans and a new radiator. The car hasn’t been as modified as it is right now for the 5 years of ownership. Actually everything engine wise was stock until about a year ago (decided to do cosmetics first). I only mentioned gas mileage because when I first got the car and was bone stock it did get really decent mileage on the highway. I got the car because it was a good foundation to eventually build into a performance based car when the time was right.
Although as Wes said, my goals for the car kind of changed to be more show oriented then performance.

The only pro isn't even a pro because it has such low clearance that it bottoms put literally 90% of the places you go, exacerbated by winter and in winter ice, snow and slush compacts into the wheel well and makes steering a bitch after a while if it's not warm enough to clean the wheel well out. Now as far as the motor. Calling it garbage is almost a compliment compared to whst it is.
