22:30 From memory, it’s an indicator that tells you how many coins are in that level. I haven’t played world-e in a while, but I think you get either a coinship or a white toad house.
I was able to get the cards that came for the GBA version that was released in the US. I loved that the Wii U version had all the e-reader stages. I just wish the p-switch cards were a thing also. I enjoyed using the veggies in the SMB3 stages. Yes, I would like to see a playthrough with the rest of the e-stages.
These e-reader levels are the best 2D Mario stages ever designed. I played through them after it became possible to inject them into the GBA ROM and then install them on a modded 3DS..The benefit this method has over the WiiU option is that it's real hardware not emulation (less lag). These are the only levels which include power ups from both Mario 3 & 4 at the same time (Feather & Cape, for example), and other unique quirks. Later stages are super hard too. With the voice removal and colour restoration patches applied it's near perfect.
I loved the GameBoy Advance versions of 'Super Mario Brothers 2', 'Super Mario Brothers 3', 'Super Mario World', and 'Yoshi's Island'! ^_^ I loved the voice over clips, and the extra stuff they added in the games! :D
I had no idea this game even existed. Seems I missed out on this one back in the day and I no longer have any Nintendo consoles aside from the DS. So because of that, I'd be happy to see more of this one.
I played a while ago those e-Reader Levels and i have to say: These Levels are very good and some of them are hard levels. I appreciated that Nintendo added those e-Reader Levels in the VC Wii U Version of Mario Advance 4.
So, I had Mario 3 for NES as a kid, it took 10 years to beat the game. When I got into high school I purchased a GBA SP and with it came Mario 3, and Mario World (which I had not played through). I really enjoyed this port, except for one major thing. They made the game easier, adding a few blocks and such. I have never seen the e-reader levels, and you have made me very excited!
12:35: I wish they'd bring back something like this Sounds like something my friend wanted to make, but he cancelled the idea due to no one helping out with sprites and stuff
This brought back memories of that one GB Mario game, Super Mario Land 2,the 6 (something) Coins. Have you thought of covering those old GB games with an emulator or something? (If that's legal lol) its a really different kind of game with different enemies, and "zones" that you have to get to thru the over world, like the Tree Zone or Pumpkin Zone, and there are special enemies and such for each part. Great Video as always :)
I love that Nintendo has made so many recreations of World 1-1 Kinda makes you wonder if that was the inspiration behind the many, MANY 1-1 remakes in Super Mario Maker
It's weird how even with such an old game you can still learn something new. I never knew these levels existed! Heck, I never knew the e-reader existed. Edit: Nevermind, after googling I found out that the e-reader wasn't released where I grew up. Guess there was no way I could've seen those levels back then^^
glad you did this game and the e-Reader part. loved this game on the GBA. Yoshi's Island is one of my personal favorites, played it on the classic system the GBA and on the DS
Many of the cards were also exclusive to Japan, the levels that are in these cards only saw a worldwide release on the Wii U version. On the plus side, e-reader cards are not region locked.
I have some of these cards UNOPENED I think super mario advance 4 is my favorite version of super mario 3 because when you win you can keep playing, going back to other worlds and you can play any level you want It’s a great chance to stock up on hammer bros suits so you can play with it for more than 2 seconds before you lose it. You can go back to mushroom houses as much as you want
I recall having Mario advance 3 (which i believe was the GBA port of yoshis island) and really liking the little voiced changes. Yoshi shounds much cuter with his little"hup" noise than the springy bounce sound he had in the original. Plus it had bonus levels in that too.
Nice. I've never really tried the GBA version of SMB3 but i really like they put in some extra content, just so you aren't playing the same game and they get really creative with it too. I wish i still had my WII U so i could play these myself.
1:13 I don't have any personal opinions on it, but I liked Allstars SMB3, so I think I'd like this too (plus I LOVED Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World). I never really understood why Mario Multiverse has this theme instead of just Allstars SMB3 though. I imagine it's due to the slightly different more crunchy music? I never understood why people preferred that, though...
well, you'll not only need the e-reader, you'll need the actual cards (and some are japan exclusive), a link cable, and another GBA. Becuase how would you put in an e-reader and SMA4 at the same time? answer: you buy two gbas and connect them. but there's a rom hack for it anyways that has the wii U patch, so if you have an everdrive, go for it!
@@tan_nerd07 Not necessarily, There is ways to print the dotcodes from the ereaders if you have a good enough printer, the issue comes in with the memory limitations of the SMA4 cart. Best bet is get a GBA everdrive and that ROM Hack you mention. to be able to play this game on real hardware without all the mischief and disappointment of the missing levels due to original cartridge limitations.
Well, that coin block is a thing that appears after beating the final boss. Remember when you said about somthing happening after collecting a certain number of coins on certain levels on your Mario 3 tips and tricks video, if yes then, well that thing shows you how many coins are left to collect for that secret. About 3 months after I bought them, someone broke in and stole my new brighter Game boy Advance and my stuff. It took me 5 years to save up and get them again. But I call Luigi Twinkle Toes in the Super Mario Advance Series. To me these were new Super Mario Bros. 3 levels too. It is a shame all E-reader cards were not released on the GBA.
