Also, damn, what an awesome sacrifice by that frigate, truly commendable. I miss when humanity was in this struggle, each win felt more important back then.
Times change, the progress of technology will always win. The ships got bigger and humanity finally has the edge to fight back. The Master Chief turned the tide alongside the Arbiter.
At the end there, when the civilian space-liners were heading away from the station and you see slipspace portals opening ahead of them, I legit thought that was gonna be more Covenant ships for a second there I still have anxiety from Halo Reach that every time a Covie gets destroyed, 5 more pop out of slipspace behind it, like some twisted, plasma-shooting hydra.
Halo has so much potential in terms of space combat and it might even be better than star wars, the feeling you get in these animations make you come to a thought that this is just how things are for the UNSC, drowning the Covenant in endless amounts of blood. Well done, if you were to make your own game regarding this concept, we would support you all the way!
Thanks for the kind words. Animation is my thing but there are several Halo mods I’d try out if you want that space combat like the popular Sins of the Prophets mod
The saddest part about these videos is that you always know how its going to end 😔Pour one out for the crew of that UNSC frigate that sacrificed themselves to give the civilians a window of opportunity to escape 🍺😢

"They would weep. They would pray and say 'goodbye' to their loved ones. Then throw themselves into the very face of death itself." - Londo Mollari on the Earth-Minbari War (Babylon 5) Every fight, every battle in Halo against the Covenant makes me think of how he described the war. Every gun, knife, sharp stick and glower was thrown at the Covenant to slow them down. But it didn't matter. It was never going to be enough. They had the tactics and the will. But the scale of technology was what left them doomed.
These are getting really smooth dude, I can see some real progression especially with the camera angles and storyline. You have the general atmosphere of Halo down!
I love this, it shows how one sided Space engagements where during the Human-Covenant war and the brutal sacrifice the UNSC nave had to do just to eke out a draw, much less a victory. The Covenant had absolute technological and tonnage advantage during the entirety of the war. UNSC weapons only worked in extreme numbers and even then the Covenant always seemed to have the advantage. It took sacrifice, clever tactics and guts for the UNSC to stand up to the Covenant and hold them as long as they did, when everything was against them. Brilliant.
True, but this fight was winnable. Jumping in in full view of the enemy is asking to lose. The humans seemed to be aware they were coming, as they were already in position. They should have used their Shiva nuclear pods to preemptively ready missiles for as soon as they entered. These missiles would be fired before they even clear the rift to slipspace, and we know Shiva nukes strip covenant shields very well. Then hammer the unshielded ship with two MAC rounds and the fight is over
@iain-duncan if it was that easy the Covenant would not have literally run over the UNSC navy as easily as a paver over gravel. With only 2 exceptions the UNSC always lost more than they destroyed and even single Covenant ships could take on prepared Human positions.
Ultimately, this animation shows some of the weaknesses of the Paris-Class Frigate and UNSC Frigates Generally. They're too small to have much staying power against larger Covenant Ships, but the large amount of deck guns, arranged in broadside configuration no less, likely encourage captains to get very aggressive and into knife-fighting range. This may have worked well against Insurrectionists, as they only had small gunboats and armed freighters at their disposal (a la Belters from the Expanse), but it proved to be a real detriment against the Covenant. UNSC ships are most effective against Covies when they can keep far away and fire their MACs and Nukes, the two weapons that are actually effective against alien ships. Close-quarters is the domain where Covenant ships like the CCS we see here excel at fighting within, due to their shields and plasma weapons. The lack of shields on human ships, coupled with a large number of broadside guns on the Paris specifically that are likely to make a captain want to use them in an aggressive broadside, leads to the Paris turning often from a formidable bulwark against the aliens to basically a chew-toy for the likes of Covenant Cruisers and Destroyers. Not to mention, most UNSC frigates, the Paris in particular, have very flimsy hull panels and vulnerable engine struts, meaning that a frigate like these Paris-Class ones we see in the animation really can't take a hit, it's one lucky shot at close range and their dead.
Yeah but unfortunately the UNSC got caught in a shitty catch 22 situation. They were losing way to many ship faster than they could replace them. Especially the bigger heavy hitter ships that take longer to build. So got forced to build in quantity over quality just to beef the numbers up and hope they can get enough smaller weaker ships like the frigates in the field to do some damage and slow them down. Maybe slow them down enough for at least one of the many many special magic bullet projects to finally pay off and give them an edge. Like the Infinty.
I disagree entirely. The Paris class is NOT armed with broadside guns, that is merely anti fighter point defense weaponry. This Paris IS equipped with nukes, which were not used here. This fight was winnable! The frigates should have launched nukes the second the covenant began to jump in. Once they arrive, strip their shields with the nukes and hit their unshielded hull with two MAC rounds. Boom, fight over I can understand why you'd think they have broadside armaments given how bungie chose to show it fighting in reach, but that is not at all how the Paris is supposed to be used. It was only doing that in the first place to give the illusion of fighting anyway, no reason for it to get close other than for them to die tragically
Over confidence in military capabilities has always caused, and will continue to cause, unnaceptable losses when facing an opponent who has either innovation or sheer disregard of their own safety for the greater good. Loved this sort of content, keep it up.
This is amazing! The UNSC slamming themselves into the covenant ship is definitely realistic as a last ditch scenario to buy time. Firing the MAC one last time before impact to stun the covenant cruiser. Absolutely wonderful animation.
Absolutely epic space battle. I truly wish someone would make an animated series on the UNSC vs Covenant space battles. Halo has so much potential as a series from all the books and games.
Very nice at the end its a great Video but at the end you could have added how the Commander of the Paris Frigate told the the marines in the Bridge to set full power to the engienes and shown how it went towords the ship with some epic music but overall its awsome

I've read most of the books. The covie ships shields were only supposed to be able to withstand two MAC rounds at MOST. Outside of that the MAC guns on the UNSC ships just took too long to charge to full power to be able to kill a ship solo before they got destroyed by plasma rounds and it didn't help that the covenant just had more ships. Two UNSC frigates/destroyers could definitely solo one covie ship. A MAC round from each ship and Shiva nukes would end that. MAC guns are so friggin cool.

My favourite part about Covenant ships is that they’re mostly based on Forerunner technology and it hilarious. Their ships are incredibly powerful, but after the war, apparently they’re not building them as strong or the same. I mean as far as I know 3 plasma torpedo from a CCS will neutralize if not totally destroy a Marathon class cruiser So I don't know if a Paris could even handle one torpedo
4? I only saw 3 MAC rounds fired. And the third shot was well after the CCS's shields had regenerated. Would've needed a third ship to get the killing blow.

Lore accurate covenant cruiser
I see we're going with the classic one shot from a covenant warship completely destroys a UNSC ship logic.
I mean as far as I know 3 plasma torpedo from a CCS will neutralize if not totally destroy a Marathon class cruiser
So I don't know if a Paris could even handle one torpedo
One plasma torp can disable a Paris-class.
10/10
it's take 4 hit from MAC and still alive?
4? I only saw 3 MAC rounds fired. And the third shot was well after the CCS's shields had regenerated. Would've needed a third ship to get the killing blow.
343 Studios: lets just make boring Halo games with incomprehensible to no story at all. Oh and I guess we'll make a really bad TV show on top of it all. 😂
err... no sound in space...
