Beautiful fabrics Jean. Nothing better than fresh bedding, nicely pressed and smelling of sunshine. Thank you for this tutorial.🏴
Thanks so much 😊 So true! Crisp fresh bedding ~ can't beat it Margaret:)
I use alot of waverly fabric...it fits my budget...love yr pillow cases...I need to make some for me and hubby...ty...I've made them before...so fun and beautiful
My husband loves our homemade pillowcases!
Mine too! THanks:)
Quilting cotton is usually about 170 thread count. I enjoy making pillow cases using this method, and it never fails to amaze me. Such a clever, easy and fun way to make an absolutely lovely pillow case! I'm another one who sleeps with multiple pillows. Anything for comfort! LOL ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing Dusty! I NEVER knew about the thread count ~ NOW I do!! :) I too, love this method...a few seams and poof, a pretty case:) Us pillow hoarders must stick together:) LOL!
Beautiful pillowcases Jean I love your pretty fabric! I always remember my mum saying to iron my pillowcases to keep my bed looking good, have a great day 😊
Love that! Our dear mums!! But it was my job as a little girl! I remember it so well! :) To this day I LOVE to iron pillowcases!! LOL! LOL!
Hi Jean! I love making these pillowcases. These are the only pillowcases my son has had. Sometimes when I went to a quilt shop I let him pick out fabric for one (it also kept him happy to be at the fabric store, lol). I also love finding beautiful florals for my pillowcases. Hubby isn't scared of a floral pillowcase. I currently make one a month for a charity that features a warrior going through a tough time. They will tell us what their likes and dislikes are and I try and sew something that fits that. They can't buy our unique creations at a store. I agree that they wash up sp beautifully over time and I also like to iron my pillowcases! When you were talking about it I was "oh my, someone else like me!" I am working away on my Dear Jean quilt. I will make the hearts this weekend. I have the fabric cut out ready tyo go. I love this quilt! Thank you for the videos.
What a good idea ~ take the hubby and kids and let THEM choose the fabrics! :) These are wonderful to donate to charities, yes! :) Take care Karen:) And thank you:)
Ha, I made these with you last time, English style with flap. Lovely reminder as now I have grandchildren, so I’ll be doing more! Thanks Jean, good reminder, x
You've stuck with me for years then, Kris!! LOL! Thank you Thank you!:)
Yes Jean. Found you when my husband terminally ill, moved from Norwich, knew you’d lived nearby, then got interested when I was alone, learnt to watch your videos and make stuff. It’s kept me alive!! Been with you ever since, even ordered the scrabble panel and colour panel all your fault ha ha, , thank you.
Aw Kris! Wish I could come and give you a big hug! (A safe one, of course!! LOL!) You dear luv...must be so hard for you. Thank you for being so loyal to me! :) Here's to many more videos together:)
🌸Oh Jean, your pillow cases are just Beautiful! 🌸Great tutorial! I am going to give this a go. Thank You. Shalom 🕊
Have fun Barbara:)
Beautiful! Excellent tutorial, as always … thank you v much Jean 😊
Thank you! Cheers Julie:)
Hi Jean lovely useful video. I must admit I have both types of pillowcase with flap and without flap. I find with the flap the pillow stays in place a bit better. But such an easy way to do lovely PILLOWCASES, easy to resize to any size you like. THANK YOU.😘
Most of the ones I think in the UK have the flap ~ at least that's what I remember after living there! :) Thanks Anita:)
Good morning Jean. Thanks for this easy pillowcase tutorial. Beautiful fabrics. These would make great gifts. I'm like you, sleep with many pillows. Sometimes it is hard to find just sets of pillowcases that match my sheets. Problem solved, thanks to you. Have a beautiful day. Nicole
Thank you! You too Nicole:)
You are an absolute joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your skills and talents.
Wow, thank you Paula! I appreciate that:)
Synchronicity Some of the women in our Bible study group decided to make pillowcases for a battered women's shelter. They give one to each woman who stays there and she takes it with her when she leaves. Love our Lord! Shalom from the Ozarks in Missouri!
Thank you Dee!! I've just re-edited my title with just that!! Great to Donate to Charities! thank you for mentioning that. I have done the exact same thing in the past. Homes for unwed mothers, shelters, etc. Thanks again:)
Ladies that is a wonderful idea and nice for them to have something individual and personally made.
I make pillowcases for my grands to match the holidays! Love using novelty fabrics to make them. Soon, my 5-year-old granddaughters will help me sew their own pillowcases! Have you done a pillowcase dress tutorial for little girls? That would be a sweet, easy summer project. Stay cool! Happy and safe 4th!
Great idea!! I will put it on my list Karla:) Thank you :) Take care:)
Jean your pillowcases are beautiful ❤️ I have made lots of pillowcases and loved making them. I still watched, because I simply enjoy watching your videos, always a treat. Thanks for sharing with us. 👍❤️😊
Wonderful! Thanks Carmen:)
Thanks Jean. Beautiful .
Glad you enjoyed it!
I made one , I had all the same fabrics in my stash. Thankyou for great instructions.
You are so welcome! Great minds!! :)
This evening I am using one of their jar sauces for something in the oven. They are big on food these days if you can afford that bit extra. Their made sandwiches are a real treat x
My sister in law SWEARS by the food at M & S! Just the two of them so it's not prohibitively expensive for them!
I much prefer the English version probably because they’re what I grew up with in Northern Ireland. They’re all beautiful though. I much prefer having a special one though. It makes me feel special!❤️🍀
My English husband prefers the English version also...wonder why!?!? LOL! Thanks Jane:)
Beautiful! I definitely need to try this. Next watching the video on flap. Thank you for great videos 💕🌸
You are so welcome Delilah! Thanks so much for watching:)
Funny you should mention Edmonton, Jean. My uncle had a work contract at the waste incineration plant there. I visited with my father once and it was surreal to see odd object all burnt up coming down a conveyor belt. I have never forgotten it.
WOW!! Ian was raised there but it's pretty much a no-go area now! We moved up to Norwich in 1983.
Lovely pillow cases Jean. I have always preferred the pillow 'slip' with the flap. Our sheet sets sold in Australia come with them
Wonderful Kim! Living in the UK, I found that out:)
Replay and thank you
Thank you too!
Always good to have a recap on this method Jean, thanks.
You bet! Thanks Mare:)
Awww my mom used to iron her pillow cases (and sheets!) too..sweet memory🌸☺️
Our dear moms and ironed pillowcases!! :)
I love it and thanks Jean.
Glad you like it!
A few years ago I made my older grandkids pillow cases I used the accent piece a casing and put cording through it so they could use it like a bag. They put their pj’s in with their pillow and that’s what they brought out my house for sleep overs. Thanks for the reminder. I will have to make a few for the younger one
What a great idea ~ drawstring bags! I also have put large presents in a novelty pillowcase as 'gift wrap'! :) Thanks for the suggestion Mary Kay! :)
Thank you for this tutorial. I love it and I had forgotten how to make the french seam so your tutorial was so helpful. I made pillow cases for all of my grandchildren in seasonal fabrics and they looked forward to it. Now they are all teenagers and not so interested in the pillowcases anymore but I will be making some for myself just for accent pillows on my bed.
You are most welcome Lorraine:)
Beautiful pillow case. I will make some.
Go for it Dawne:) Thanks:)
Mark's & Spencer, Jean, in UK do best cases but they are a bit pricey. You get all the sewing extras like mitred corners, double flange and elegant frill that looks like home sewing from another era. Must go and have a look and treat myself. They so fab you can use to cover little table and it look chic x
Good to know! But then again M & S have great stuff! :) Miss them dreadfully! Used to go to the one on our High Street in Edmonton, a million years ago, then to the one in Norwich. Love M & S !!!!
Best instructions every
Aw thanks Kay:)
These are lovely Jean! I too have yards of that fabric from Walmart and love it. I haven't decided what I want to make with it, but those pillow cases are inspiring me. I have made quite a few of these type pillowcases too and they hold up wonderfully. I have one tip I found helps that accent piece stay put, I run a top stitch over it and on the cuff before sewing the French seams, it also gives them a nice finished look. Thanks again for the refresher and for all you do!
I too bought YARDS and YARDS of it!! The same design in Blues also!! LOL! It is SO pretty! I like that idea about the accent piece also! :) Thanks Sharon:)
Lol I have the blue too! Lol It is beautiful too. I love your Shabby Chic style 😊
Great tutorial!! Thank 💕
Thanks for watching!
We had 110 yesterday & we in the Pacific Northwest are NOT use to this! Thank goodness for central air!!! I also make pillowcases too!
110!!!!! I. WOULD. DIE. Seriously. I'd NEVER go outside. Can't Do the heat ~ I truly prefer the cold winters here! Please stay safe and COOL!! :) Thanks so much:)
Excellent tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers Joyce! Thanks for watching:)
Remember watching the last time you made the pillow cases with the flap. Love watching and perhaps this time I’ll give it a try! Thanks Jean!
Aw thanks MaryAnn ~ you've been around for a while if you watched that old video!! LOL!
I iron my pillowcases too!!!!!!
YAY!!!! :)
Funny coincidence, I just sewed a pillow case for a small travel pillow for a little girl I met a few days ago. And I made a secret zippered pocket!
Great minds! And super idea about a secret pocket!! :) Thanks Kathy:)
Hi Jean. I really do want some new pillow cases. I thought this as I was making my bed this morning!! Thanks for the tutorial. I will get cracking!!! Also, I was wondering if you have ever made any pillow shams? Would you fancy making a tutorial for a pillow sham for us please Jean. Am I being a bit cheeky? Lol. Thanks Jean, see you soon xxx
Great minds think alike! I have made pillow shams - ruffled ones. Do you mean the ones with like a 'flange' thing, no ruffles? And no, you aren't being cheeky!! LOL
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory they have a bit of wadding on the front and a bit of quilting. They are sooooo expensive. I've never been able to afford them lol
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I love the fabrics you chose for the pillow case. You are such a gifted teacher. I’m definitely going to make some of these. Thank you!
Thank you so much Pamela:) I appreciate that:)
Looking good today in your outdoor setting.......my mother taught me to iron pillow cases too and my mother always made our pillow cases this video was great for me going down memory lane of what my mother did many years ago.....
Your pillow case turned out really nice.....TFS
Aw our dear Mums!! :) Thanks Terrie!
Love this pattern. Make them in prints for children and donate them to the local hospital for children who are there for a while. They get to take them home with them
Wonderful idea! Thank you Donna:)
Amazing I just googled up burrito pillow case two days ago !! I needed to replace some for my husband as his hair can get oily. And just finished them . Then was checking my RUclips account and there you were showing a tutorial on the very same thing!! And that WalMart fabric I also have and used it to make the clothes pin bag you did earlier this year or last!! Seems we think alike😄
Thank you again for your wonderful video’s!!
I get annoyed when people bash WalMart fabrics. Some are obviously not great, (too thin, coarse etc.,) but there are so many NICE choices also! Great minds DO think alike! You are most welcome Cheryl:)
love it thanks for this will be awsome christmas gifts for my familly!! thanks Jean xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Have fun!
thank you Jean perfect timing, I was thinking of doing pillowcases just the other day
You’re welcome 😊 Paulette:) All the best:)
Genius Jean!!! That looks so beautiful, I;m gonna watch the burritto tutorial now as that's what we use in Ireland also. I'll have plenty of new pillowcases. Thank you x
You are most welcome! You will get hooked making them Martina:)
I love this video I have that same pink flower fabric already
Great minds think alike!! Thanks Roxanne:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory , well I'm not as talented as you,but I love fabric

You get what you pay for with cases, Jean. Good ones are heirloom
So true:)
And embroidered cases are also treat
Just beautiful ~ makes one feel very special Jed:)
Great tutorial! I'm going to give this a try! Thank you so much! 💕
Have fun Karen:) You'll be hooked! Thanks:)

that is soo cool!!! i can make my own now!!! thanks for this!!!!!xxxxxxxxx this would make awsome christmas gifts for my familly awsomeness!!!
You are so welcome Suzy! These make great Gift Bags also for large items and/or toys! :)
Don't blame you
I too sleep with four king size pillows, along with throw pillow & a support square pillow. As everyone knows a queen sheet set does not come with king pillowcases, let alone four of them. So my solution to keep a matching bed is to buy separate matching top sheets or set if I have no choice. With this matching fabric I sew matching pillowcases, a small throw pillow and fabric permitting a square support pillow. I wish I could just buy the pillowcases that I need but that is never the case. I've always wondered how people sleep on the small standard pillows. There's nothing to hug. ☺
Such a good idea 👍. How can anyone sleep with just one pillow?🧐😂😂😜
Brilliant Jean, just reminded me i could do with some new ones. I alwaya travel with my own pillowcases. I know im not allergic to my washing detergent.
Wonderful Janice! Nothing beats a new fresh pillowcase:)
Love the video I am going to make some. I have a total different question, please help. I have a Juki 2200 mini like yours. I am trying to free motion quilt but my quilt dose not want to glide as easy as you show on the videos. My quilting looks pretty good but it is a chore. Do you use a supreme glider or ? Thanks.
I tried the glider thing ~ found it too cumbersome. I have however used a silicone spray (don't know which one though and can't find the can), but it does help to polish up the bed really slippery!! :) Hope this helps Patsy:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory Thank you I will try that. 🙂
I sew down the flange, sometimes it gets wrinkled after washing. Xxxoooxxx
I've seen that done!! Yes, they can wrinkle up a bit ~ that's why I iron them. Thanks Chrissy! And thanks for watching:)
M&S still going strong in United Kingdom but where other stores have gone they have had to rein in. In times gone you could have returned something after three years and received full refund without receipt. Do you believe that
I do remember that!! They were Great!!
