After researching the same engine builds over and over, I finally decided to browse the older videos on this channel and I came across this motorcycle engine build. Very interesting and a much needed change of pace from the repetitive small block/big block V8 engine builds with the occasional Straight 6. What I'd also really like to see is like boat racing engine builds, like high performance boat engines

I certainly like to see V twin motorcycle builds like this on Power Nation TV. I've been into cars and trucks more than bikes over my life by necessity to start with. As far as hot rods and play toys bikes certainly are cheaper and easier to work with than cars. Especially now that we are in time when prices for even old rusty junk muscle car is equal to nice V twin chopper.

I love to see people pushing Harley engines to their limits. Don’t get me wrong, I like the speed demons from the East, but there’s nothing like the roar of a Harley V-twin.

Dean Williams Yea, I’ve heard of Ducati and Triumph and they’re also cool bikes. It’s just that I’m open to appreciate the simplicity of Harley’s design. PS, Harley’s are relatively under-stressed engines stock, and for that reason are pretty reliable. And their post AMF bikes have really high build quality. And 120+ HP is nothing to scoff at on almost any bike. And Dean, given how bigoted you sound, I’d doubt you have enough skill or intelligence to ride anything more powerful than a Ninja 250. So go along child, and keep waving your PP around on 4chan and Reddit, they appreciate fine art like you.

I owned and rode a 1983 Kawasaki LTD twin belt drive (sold it after owning it for 22 years, even rebuilt the engine with only 40,00km on it), a 1982 Honda CB 900 C with full factory fairing (lovely bike, 125 mph two up full load, crashed that one, hurt a bit), and the one I still own is a 1996 XL1200S. My HD gets the best fuel mileage, has the most torque, is the best looking and sounds the best.

Factorys have to meet a wide range of people to stay in business. They provide the foundation. It's up to the owner to make it their's. I looked at a used Street Bob a few years ago. The guy had added another $15,000 in aftermarket parts. NONE of which were set up for him. He was only maybe an inch, 2 at most, than my 5'9"s BUT my limbs are longer. It fit me like a glove while it was to stretched out for him. He traded it for a Heritage which cost more than the Bob not to mention the extra cash he spent on the add ons. It was priced, still over priced IMO but it was a damn good deal.

Race classes that allow 600cc sport bikes usually allow upto 1100cc air cooled vtwins, because they are two totally different motors. That doesn't mean they don't make a good Race motor. They are cheaper and easier to fix with less maintenance and can make plenty of reliable power. The XR750 has more wins than any other motorcycle and is known as the motorcycle with the most Race victories. As for AMA, their rules allow bigger vtwins to run with smaller liquid cooled motors, because there is an equation. Simply comparing a 600-1000cc inline 4 to a 1200-1800cc vtwin is absolutely silly. The boys at Crete Performance who just yesterday pulled off a record 8 second pass on their stock wheelbase m8 bagger would disagree with you. Both motors have their ups and downs, but a Vtwin can absolutely make for an amazing motor to use for racing.

I would also like to add, the BRL and Vtwin classes have lots of guys that race motoGP, Moto America, SBK and other high level sport bike race leagues coming to race their vtwins, and their lap times are incredible. Go take a look at the things guys like Josh Herrin, Andrew Lee and others are doing on Harleys and Indians. Now, with all that being said, I can't wait to see what people say about the new liquid cooled Vtwins that Harley is now making. 125hp 1250cc and 150hp 1250cc motors with lots of potential. It is safe to say there will be plenty of 200+hp Harleys roaming the streets in the next year or two.

kick in the pants???... fart you mean... only 150 HP... that was a big number in 1980...
most European brands get that amount of "power" (including the torque) from a liter engine..
and you can buy them as a stock / mass-production model.. for a reasonable price..
no special / sick / bad-ass stuff (with "special" prices) needed...

What euro bikes make 150hp and 150tq out of a 2 cylinder vtwin? Oh you are comparing an air cooled, 2 valve, pushrod, 2 cylinder to a liquid cooled, 4 cylinder motor? That is a horrible comparrison. Sure, you can buy them cheap and have the exact same thing as everyone else. Some people enjoy building something for themselves and not everyone wants a cookie cutter bike. Ducati is the only ones and the Panigale never made anywhere near the torque numbers as this motor did, seeing as how they make less than 100ft/lb of torque.

Its just an overpriced v twin. Yamaha makes better cruisers they also make dirt bikes utv atv musical instruments.
