I've never been able to get into that position, or the one where one leg is stretched out behind. 😢
Yeah, I just tried. I can't sit upright like that, I fall to one side.

it takes time to gain that kind of flexibility and stability. As long as it isn't painful to do, keep this stretch and others like it in your regular routine and that range of motion will open up.

Thanks for the tip! I’m 1 year post op from a Left Total Knee Replacement, (LTKR). After injuring my Vastus Lateralis I’ve noticed numbness in the lateral side of my left knee when I stand too long. After spending the last year, trying to figure out why with both physical therapy and then follow-ups with the orthopedic surgeon, suddenly tonight I wondered if a tight TFL could cause lateral quad numbness, since they are right next to each other. Sure enough, a tight TFL can cause lateral quad numbness. Doesn’t surprise me that I’ve got a tight TFL after spending the last year and three different knee replacement surgeries caused me to do an awful lot of sitting. Your video gave me some great ideas to work the tightness out.

You can always but a bolster, thick pillows, yoga bricks/pads, etc underneath your sitting bones to access the position.
