Couldn't be more right. Celebrities are rich pompous people, however war veterans have the most wisdom and respect and have courage beyond words. They are the definition of the word Hero.

only celebrity who i respect the most is Gary Sinise aka "Lt Dan". guy who, for years, actively does what he can for Veterans and Active Duty military. including going on USO tours with his band called the Lt Dan Band. a rare celbrity that talks the talk AND walks the walk.

I don't know why this touched me so much, but it did. Maybe it's because I don't often see or hear of a young person(s) having much respect and appreciation for someone who truly deserves it. Maybe it's because I don't often see someone who is truly deserving of such respect and appreciation actually receive it. Or maybe it's both.

How absolutely amazing!!!! It's so awesome for kids of this age to understand and RESPECT the sacrifices the men and women WW 2 made for us all!!! My son is equally interested in this generation of warriors and will stop to thank or talk to former Vets; it's something I instilled in him at a very early age, to respect on honor those who have fought for the freedoms of today!! This is just a great story. My son and I may run into these 2 boys at the USS NORTH CAROLINA because Pinehurst, where we live, is just but 55 miles from them. Thanks for posting!!!

Now that was one fine story. Congrats on telling the story and leaving out the politics. I can understand the vet's need to talk about his experience. As a Vietnam veteran I never talk about what went on to my wife or family. The only time I talk is with my fellow vets who went through the same things I did. Those children are a true blessing for Mr. Harding.
